Introduction  
The Sony Ericsson P910 is based on the P900 Smartphone. This means that to a large extent they have the same  
features, but some important differences exist both in hardware and software.  
There are four basic models in the P910i series:  
Standard P910i (Europe, Middle East and Africa)  
P910i Chinese (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore)  
P910a (850 MHz version for North and Latin America)  
P910c (People’s Republic of China)  
For an overview of the different models, refer to the P910 Series White paper.  
Software  
P910 contains the following additional software features:  
New Viewer software for MS Word complete with editing functionality  
New Viewer software for Excel complete with editing functionality  
New Viewer software for PDF  
New image formats  
New Themes  
User Interface  
Larger application launcher icons in flip closed.  
Email Improvements  
Improved IMAP4 handling  
Improved IMAP4 handling gives support for read/unread status.  
Remote folders  
For IMAP4 type accounts you can subscribe to remote folders that are located on the server.  
Local email folders  
To improve the organization of your folders you can create more folders locally on your smartphone. All you have to  
do is to select Edit folders from the folder menu and then select Add. Folders created this way are only visible in the  
Messages application. Messages cannot be created on the Memory Stick.  
This feature gives you the possibility of being able to download only recent messages and to select how many of  
the recent messages to download.  
HTML messages in plain text  
Support for view of HTML text in messages.

Time window  
Support for downloading only recent messages.  
Document Viewers  
The viewers from Stellant are removed.  
QuickOffice viewers for Word, Excel and PDF files are added. The Word and Excel viewers will also support  
editing.  
A PowerPoint viewer is available on the “Multimedia CD”.  
MMS  
P910 Series supports all mandatory requirements in MMS Conformance 1.2 (OMA MMS).  
PC Synch  
P910 Series supports Outlook2003 and Lotus Notes 6.0/6.5.  
Advanced Telephony  
Improved behavior for call handling:  
At incoming call the phone will switch to the phone application (regardless of previous application).  
At incoming call, a common view will offer the most relevant alternatives (e.g. Call Filter, Call Forwarding  
and Silent mode).  
Quick access to call filter in flip closed.  
The icons in the “Incoming call dialog (e.g. Answer) has been made larger.  
Initiating a 2nd call (from within a call) has been made easier.  
Setting up a Conference Call has been made easier.  
Sending DTMF tones (from within a call) has been made easier.  
Corporate Telephony  
Just as P900, the P910 Series smartphones can be integrated into a corporate telephony environment* so you can  
use your phone also as an intelligent terminal for your fixed line connection – you don’t need your desktop phone.  
*- depending on the office PABX environment  
Music Player  
The Music player in P910 Series can also play AAC format audio encoded into .aac, .m4a, .mp4 files.  
Browser improvements  
The P910 Series browser offers a number of new features:  
Narrow Layout  
The Internet application can now display a Web page in two different ways:  
As you are used to see it on your computer. This makes it easier for you to recognise the page and find the  
way to your favourite spots.  
Reformatted to fit the width of the screen (Narrow layout). This means you don’t have to scroll pages  
horizontally.

One-Hand Navigation  
You can browse the Internet using only the Jog Dial.  
Select Narrow layout mode to avoid horizontal scrolling.  
Hotspot navigation  
Hotspots are links, radio buttons, check boxes, input fields, select lists and buttons on a Web page.  
Rotate the Jog Dial to select a hotspot. By pressing the Jog Dial inwards you can then:  
Open a link or list  
Select a radio button  
Select or clear a check box  
Select an item in a list  
Press a button  
You can press the Jog Dial forwards to bring up a menu with useful commands. Use the Back command to go to  
the previous Web page.  
Page scrolling  
Rotate the Jog Dial faster to scroll the Web page up and down.  
If you always use the Jog Dial for scrolling Web pages, you can remove the vertical scroll bar.  
Scan text  
To find the way to your favourite Web page spots, you can use the scan text function. Make sure no hotspot is  
selected and then press the Jog Dial inwards. You can also select Scan text from the Internet menu.  
The application will scan for and pan to the most text frequent part of the page.  
Repeat the operation find the next text frequent area.  
Storage Wizard  
The Storage Wizard enables you to quickly free-up storage space used by applications, media or other files and  
messages. It is easily accessible by clicking the Storage Wizard icon on the Application Menu Three simple steps  
which will guide you through the following:  
Step 1 Applications. Remove applications that you no longer use such as the pre-installed Demo.  
Step 2: Files. Get a list of the image, audio and video files on the device. You can delete files you no longer need or  
move them to your Memory Stick.  
Step 3 Messages. See how much storage is used by messages in different folders. Delete the ones you no longer  
need.  
Memory Stick PRO Duo  
The P910 Series now has enhanced Memory Stick Pro support with up to 1 GB. (Parallel mode is not supported).

Bluetooth  
Behavior changed in P910 Series so no authentication is required for outbound connections.  
Car Handsfree profile  
Support for Bluetooth Car handsfree HCB-300 accessory.  
Sniff mode  
P910 series supports Sniff mode.  
Java  
The P910 Series offers the following upgrades on Java functionality compared to P900:  
All mandatory parts of the Joint Technology for Wireless Industry (JTWI) R1  
specification (JSR-185) supported  
API support added for Full Screen Canvas, Vibrator and Backlight  
Access to IMEI number and software Version

Mechanics  
Industrial design  
P910 Series features a new design ID, but with limited mechanical changes except for the redesigned numerical  
keypad on the outside of the flip.  
The main functional change is the addition of a 33-key keyboard for text entry on the inside of the flip.  
The new keypad, the added keyboard on flip inside, brings P910 Series a refreshed and sophisticated look.  
The P910 Series also has new special customization area offering possibility for a higher quality co-branding.  
Colour  
P910 Series: Ambient Silver.  
Size and weight  
P910 Series have same size as P900 but is 1.8 mm thicker (over new keyboard flip) and is 5 g heavier.

Located on the inside of the flip, the P910 Series has a new keyboard similar in design to that of a standard  
computer keyboard enhancing text input in all Flip Open Applications. There are versions of keyboard layout to

Keypad  
The Numeric keypad used on the P910 Series is a cluster-type designed to improve the phone’s ergonomics.  
Printed circuit board  
Both phones are based on the same PCB with some minor component value changes.  
Internal memory  
The total flash memory has been increased from 48 MB RAM up to 96 MB RAM. The available user memory is now  
up to 64 MB (up to 60 MB for Chinese models).
