Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Samson Graphite M32, compact USB keyboard controller! The
Graphite M32 gives you the performance and production control to easily integrate with Windows
or Mac digital production workstations. The keyboard can also be powered directly by an Apple
iPad (using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, not
included), and can be used to control many iOS MIDI apps, like GarageBand. The Graphite M32
features a 32-key velocity-sensitive keyboard, an assignable Data fader, a Volume knob, pitch
bend and modulation strips. To take full advantage of the assignable functions, you will need to
download the free Graphite M32 editor from the Samson website (www.samsontech.com).
In these pages, you’ll find a detailed description of the features of the Graphite M32 keyboard
controller, as well as a guided tour of its control panel, and instructions for setup and use. You’ll
also find a warranty card enclosed. Please don’t forget to fill it out and mail it in so that you can
receive online technical support, and so that we can send you updated information about this
and other Samson products in the future.

With proper care and maintenance, your Graphite M32 will operate trouble-free for many years.
Should your keyboard ever require servicing, a Return Authorization (RA) number must be
obtained before shipping your unit to Samson. Without this number, the unit will not be accepted.
Please call Samson at 1-800-3SAMSON (1-800-372-6766) for an RA number prior to shipping
your unit. Please retain the original packing materials and, if possible, return the unit in its
original carton. If your Graphite M32 was purchased outside of the United States, contact your
local distributor for warranty details and service information.

Quick Start
Computer
1. Connect the Graphite M32 to your computer or iPad* using the supplied USB cable. The
unit will receive power and transmit MIDI data via the USB connection.
If the Graphite M32 is connected to a non-powered USB hub, it may not receive enough
power to turn on. It is recommended that you connect the Graphite M32 directly to your
computer or to a powered USB hub.
2. Launch your DAW or virtual instrument software.
3. Set the Graphite M32 as the MIDI Input and MIDI Output device.
*To connect directly to an iPad, you will need to use the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or
Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (not included).

Front Panel Controls and Functions
1. VOLUME Knob - This knob is preset from the factory to send MIDI volume (CC #7) mes-
sages. The VOLUME knob can be assigned to control different MIDI parameters using the
computer editor.
2. DATA Slider - This slider is preset from the factory to send MIDI pan (CC #10) messages.
The DATA slider can be assigned to control different MIDI parameters using the computer
editor.
3. OCTAVE +/– Buttons - Press the OCTAVE buttons to shift the octave of the keyboard up or
down a maximum of four octaves, to extend the range of the keyboard. Each time you press
the OCTAVE button, the range of the keyboard shifts up or down 12 notes. The buttons
blink progressively faster as the keyboard’s octave shifts in each direction. Press both but-
tons to set the keyboard to the default range.
4. SUSTAIN Button - Press this button to sustain (hold) currently held notes. Release the but-
ton to stop notes from being held.
5. CC Button - When pressed, the keyboard sends a control change message. The CC button
can be assigned using the Graphite M32 computer editor.
6. PROG Button - Press this button to send program change information via the Function keys
(0–9). Press the key labeled ENTER to send the desired program change message. When
the PROG button is pressed, the button lights red and the keys will not send note informa-
tion.
7. PITCH BEND Ribbon Strip - Slide your finger to raise or lower the pitch of notes played on the
keyboard.
8. MODULATION Ribbon Strip - Slide your finger to send modulation messages. Modulation is
usually used to add vibrato or other expressive effects to a sound being played.

Front Panel Controls and Functions
9. Function Keys - In PROG mode, the last 11 keys of the keyboard are assigned to numerical
digits (0–9), and ENTER. To Send a program change message, press the PROG button,
then enter the program number by pressing the numbered keys. When the program number
is entered, press the ENTER key to transmit the program number information. The Graphite
M32 will exit the program mode, and the Function keys will transmit note information.
10. Keyboard - 32-note velocity sensitive keyboard.
11. USB Connection - Connect the included USB-mini cable from this port to the USB connec-
tion on a computer to provide power to the keyboard, as well as to send and receive MIDI
data.

Editing Parameters
The Graphite M32 features controls which settings can be customized using the Graphite M32
lowing information outlines the available parameters for each control that can be adjusted.
Assignable Volume Knob
Control Change: Sets the control change number that the knob will transmit.
MIDI Channel: Sets the specific MIDI channel that the knob will use to transmit data.
Assignable Data Slider
Control Change: Sets the control change number that the slider will transmit.
MIDI Channel: Sets the specific MIDI channel that the encoder will use to transmit data.
Modulation Strip
Control Change: Sets the control change number that the Modulation strip will transmit.
MIDI Channel: Sets the specific MIDI channel that the Modulation strip will use to transmit data.
CC Button
Control Change: Sets the control change number that the CC keys will transmit.
MIDI Channel: Sets the specific MIDI channel that the CC keys will use to transmit data.
Value: Sets the control change value the button will transmit.

Prise en mains rapide
Computer
1. Reliez le Graphite M32 à votre ordinateur ou à votre iPad* à l'aide du câble USB joint à la
livraison. L'appareil recevra l'alimentation électrique et transmettra des données MIDI via
le port USB.
Si le Graphite M32 est connecté à un hub multi-USB non alimenté, il risque de ne pas
recevoir suffisamment d'énergie pour s'allumer. Nous vous conseillons de connecter le
Graphite M32 directement à votre ordinateur ou à un hub multi-USB alimenté.
2. Lancez votre DAW ou votre logiciel d'instruments virtuels.
3. Paramétrez le Graphite M32 comme dispositif d'Entrée MIDI et de Sortie MIDI.
*Pour vous connecter directement à un iPad, vous devrez utiliser le Kit de Connexion d'un
Appareil photo à l'iPad d'Apple ou l'Adaptateur pour appareil photo Lightning vers USB (non
fourni).

Réglages et fonctions du panneau avant
1. Bouton de VOLUME - Ce bouton est préréglé d'origine pour envoyer des messages de volume
MIDI (CC #7). Le bouton de VOLUME peut également être affecté pour régler différents
paramètres MIDI à l'aide du logiciel d'édition sur ordinateur.
2. Curseur DATA - Ce curseur est préréglé d'origine pour envoyer des messages MIDI PAN (CC
#10). Le curseur DATA peut être programmé pour régler différents paramètres MIDI à l'aide
du logiciel d'édition sur ordinateur.
3. Boutons OCTAVE +/– - Appuyez sur les boutons d'OCTAVE pour décaler l'octave du clavier
vers le haut ou le bas sur un maximum de quatre octaves, pour étendre la plage du clavier.
A chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bouton OCTAVE, la plage du clavier se décale de 12
notes vers le haut ou le bas. Les boutons clignotent progressivement plus vite à mesure que
l'octave du clavier se décale dans chaque sens. Appuyez sur les deux boutons pour régler le
clavier sur la plage par défaut.
4. Bouton SUSTAIN (Sustinato) - Appuyez sur ce bouton pour profonger (tenir) les notes tenues.
Relâchez le bouton pour que les notes ne soient plus tenues.
5. Bouton CC - Lorsqu'il est enfoncé, le clavier envoie un message de changement de réglage.
Le bouton CC peut être programmé par ordinateur à l'aide du logiciel d'édition Graphite
M32.
6. Bouton PROG - Appuyez sur ce bouton pour envoyer des informations de changement de pro-
gramme grâce aux Touches de Fonctions (0–9). Appuyez sur la touche ENTER pour envoyer
le message de changement de programme désiré. Lorsqu'on appuie sur le bouton PROG, le
bouton s'allume en rouge et les plateaux n'enverront pas d'informations de note.
7. Réglette PITCH BEND (Modulation de hauteur) - Faites glisser votre doigt pour monter ou
abaisser la hauteur des notes jouées au clavier.

8. Réglette MODULATION - Faites glisser votre doigt pour envoyer des messages de modulation.
La modulation sert généralement à appliquer un vibrato ou d'autres effets expressifs à un
son joué.
9. Touches de fonctions - En mode PROG, programmer les 11 dernières touches du clavier en
les affectant à des touches numériques (0 à 9) et à ENTER. Pour Envoyer un message de
changement de programme, appuyez sur le bouton PROG, puis saisissez le numéro de pro-
gramme en appuyant sur les touches de chiffres. Une fois le numéro de programme saisi,
appuyez sur la touche ENTER pour transmettre les informations correspondant au numéro
de programme. Le Graphite M32 quittera le mode programme, et les touches de fonctions
transmettront des informations sur les notes.
10. Clavier - clavier à 32 notes sensible à la vitesse.
11. Connecteur USB - Reliez le mini-câble USB joint à la livraison entre ce port et le connec-
teur USB d'un ordinateur pour alimenter le clavier, mais aussi pour envoyer et recevoir des
données MIDI.

Paramètres d'Edition

Kurze Betriebsanleitung
Computer
1. Schließen Sie das Graphite M32 Keyboard mit dem mitgelieferten USB Kabel an Ihren
Computer oder iPad* an. Das Gerät wird über den USB Anschluss mit Strom versorgt und
MIDI Daten senden.
Wenn das Graphite M32 mit USB Hub verbunden wird, der keine Stromversorgung bietet,
kann es sein, dass es nicht ausreichend Strom erhält, um eingeschaltet werden zu können.
Es wird empfohlen, dass Sie Ihr Graphite M32 direkt mit dem Computer oder einem USB
Hub mit Stromversorgung verbinden.
2. Starten Sie Ihr DAW oder Software für virtuelle Instrumente.
3. Wählen Sie das Graphite M32 als das MIDI Eingang und MIDI Ausgang Gerät.

Bedienelemente und Funktionen am Frontpanel
1. VOLUME Regler - Dieser Regler ist ab Werk eingestellt, um MIDI Volume (CC #7) Mel-
dungen zu verschicken. Der VOLUME Regler kann mit dem Computer Editor konfiguriert
werden, um verschiedene MIDI Parameter zu steuern.
2. DATA Regler - Dieser Regler ist ab Werk eingestellt, um MIDI Pan (CC #10) Meldungen
zu verschicken. Der DATA Regler kann mit dem Computer Editor konfiguriert werden, um
verschiedene MIDI Parameter zu steuern.
3. OCTAVE +/- Tasten - Betätigen Sie die OCTAVE Tasten, um die Oktav der Tastatur bis zu
vier Oktaven nach oben oder unten zu verschieben und so den Bereich des Keyboards zu
erweitern. Jedes Mal, wenn Sie die OCTAVE Taste betätigen, wird der Bereich der Tastatur
um 12 Noten nach oben oder unten verschoben. Die Tasten blinken progressiv schneller,
wenn die Oktav in eine Richtung verschoben wird. Betätigen Sie beide Tasten gleichzeitig,
um die Tastatur wieder auf den Standardbereich einzustellen.
4. SUSTAIN Taste - Betätigen Sie diese Taste, um die zurzeit gehaltenen Noten zu halten.
Lassen Sie die Taste los, um die gehaltenen Noten freizugeben.
5. CC Taste - Wenn sie betätigt wird, sendet die eine Control Change Meldung. Die CC Taste
kann über den Graphite M32 Computer Editor zugewiesen werden.
6. PROG Knopf - Betätigen Sie diese Taste, um Programmwechsel Informationen über die
Funktionstasten (0–9) zu senden. Betätigen Sie die Taste mit der Bezeichnung ENTER, um
die gewünschte Programmwechsel Meldung zu senden. Wenn die PROG Taste betätigt wird,
wird der Knopf rot leuchten und die Tasten werden keine Noteninformationen senden.
7. PITCH BEND Band - Schieben Sie Ihren Finger über das Band, um die Tonhöhe der auf der
Tastatur gespielten Noten zu erhöhen oder verringern.
8. MODULATION Band - Lassen Sie Ihre Finger über das Band gleiten, um Modulation Meldun-

und Ziffern (0-9) und ENTER zugewiesen. Um eine Program Change Meldung zu senden,
betätigen Sie die Taste PROG und geben Sie dann die Programmnummer mit den Ziffern-
tasten ein. Nachdem die Programmnummer eingegeben wurde betätigen Sie die ENTER
Taste, um die Programmnummer Informationen zu übertragen. Das Graphite M32 Keyboard
wird den Programm- Modus verlassen und die Funktionstasten werden die Note Information
übertragen.

¡Felicidades y gracias por su compra del teclado controlador USB compacto Graphite M32 de
Samson! El Graphite M32, fácilmente integrable en su estación de trabajo de producción digital
Windows o Mac, le ofrece todo el control de su actuación o producción. El teclado también puede

Inicio Rápido
Computer
1. Conecte el Graphite M32 a su ordenador o iPad* utilizando el cable USB incluido. La
unidad recibirá alimentación y transmitirá datos MIDI a través de la conexión USB.
Si el Graphite M32 se conecta a un concentrador USB sin alimentación, es posible que
no reciba la alimentación suficiente para encenderse. Le recomendamos que conecte el
Graphite M32 directamente a su ordenador o a un concentrador USB con alimentación.
2. Inicie su software DAW o de instrumentos virtuales.

Controles y Funciones del Panel Frontal
1. Mando de VOLUMEN - Este mando viene preconfigurado en fábrica para enviar mensajes de
volumen MIDI (CC #7). El mando de VOLUMEN puede asignarse para el control de diferen-
tes parámetros MIDI utilizando el editor de ordenador.
2. Mando Deslizante de DATOS - Este mando deslizante viene preconfigurado en fábrica para
enviar mensajes MIDI de panorama (CC #10). El mando deslizante de DATOS puede asig-
narse para el control de diferentes parámetros MIDI utilizando el editor de ordenador.
3. Botones de OCTAVA +/– - Pulse los botones de OCTAVA para cambiar la octava del teclado
hacia arriba o abajo en un máximo de cuatro octavas, para ampliar así el rango del teclado.
Cada vez que pulse el botón de OCTAVA, el rango del teclado cambiará hacia arriba o abajo
en 12 notas. Los botones parpadean cada vez más rápido mientras la octava del teclado
cambia en cada dirección. Pulse los dos botones para ajustar el teclado en el rango prede-
terminado.
4. Botón SUSTAIN - Pulse este botón para sostener (mantener) las notas que se estén produ-
ciendo en ese momento. Suelte el botón para que las notas dejen de mantenerse.
5. Botón CC - Cuando se pulsa, el teclado envía un mensaje de cambio de control. El botón CC
puede asignarse utilizando el editor de ordenador de Graphite M32.
6. Botón PROG - Pulse este botón para enviar información de cambio del programa mediante
las teclas de Función (0–9). Pulse la tecla marcada como INTRO para enviar el mensaje de
cambio del programa que desee. Cuando se pulsa el botón PROG, el botón se ilumina en
color rojo y las teclas no enviarán información de notas.
7. Banda de INFLEXIÓN DE TONO - Deslice el dedo por la banda para producir una inflexión
tonal arriba o abajo de las notas tocadas en el teclado.
8. Banda de MODULACIÓN - Deslice el dedo por la banda para enviar mensajes de modulación.
La modulación se utiliza normalmente para añadir efectos de vibrato u otros efectos expre-
sivos al sonido que se está tocando.

9. Teclas de Función - En el Modo PROG, las últimas 11 teclas del teclado se asignan a dígitos
numéricos (0–9) y a INTRO. Para enviar un mensaje de cambio de programa, pulse el bo-
tón PROG e introduzca el número de programa a continuación pulsando las teclas numera-
das. Cuando haya introducido el número de programa, pulse la tecla INTRO para transmitir
la información del número de programa. El Graphite M32 saldrá del modo de programa y
las teclas de Función transmitirán información de notas.

Operazioni preliminari
Computer
1. Collegare il Graphite M32 al proprio computer o iPad* facendo ricorso al cavo USB in
dotazione. L'unità sarà alimentata e trasmetterà dati MIDI attraverso la connessione USB.
Se il Graphite M32 è collegato a un hub USB non alimentato, potrebbe non ricevere suf-
ficiente corrente per accendersi. Si consiglia di collegare il Graphite M32 direttamente al
computer o a un hub USB alimentato.
2. Lanciare il software della stazione di registrazione audio digitale o il software dello stru-
mento virtuale.
3. Impostare il Graphite M32 come dispositivo di ingresso MIDI e di uscita MIDI.
*Per collegare il controller direttamente a un iPad bisognerà fare ricorso a un kit per il collega-

Comandi e funzioni del pannello frontale
1. Manopola di regolazione del VOLUME - La manopola è preregolata in fabbrica in modo da in-
viare i messaggi MIDI relativi al volume (CC #7). Attraverso l'editor installato sul computer
la manopola di regolazione del VOLUME può essere assegnata in modo tale da controllare
diversi parametri MIDI.
2. Cursore DATA (DATI) - Questo cursore è preregolato in fabbrica in modo da inviare i messaggi
MIDI pan (CC #10). Attraverso l'editor installato sul computer il cursore DATA (DATI) può
essere assegnato in modo tale da controllare diversi parametri MIDI.
3. Tasti OCT +/– - Premere i tasti OCT (OTTAVA) per spostarsi in su o in giù di un'ottava sulla
tastiera, intervenendo su un massimo di quattro ottave, per estendere la gamma della
tastiera. Ogni volta che si preme un tasto OCT, la gamma della tastiera si alza o si abbassa
di dodici note. I tasti lampeggiano sempre più velocemente man mano che le ottave sulla
tastiera si spostano in ciascuna direzione. Premere entrambi i tasti per impostare la tastiera
sulla gamma di valori predefiniti.
4. Tasto SUSTAIN - Premere questo tasto per prolungare (filare) delle note filate in un determi-
nato momento. Rilasciare il tasto per smettere di filare le note.
5. Tasto CC - Quando viene premuto, la tastiera invia un messaggio di control change. Il tasto
CC può essere assegnato mediante l'editor Graphite M32 installato sul computer.

8. Controller a nastro della MODULAZIONE (MODULATION) - Far scorrere il dito per inviare
messaggi relativi alla modulazione. La modulazione di solito è utilizzata per aggiungere del
vibrato o altri effetti espressivi a un suono che viene riprodotto.
9. Tasti funzione - Nella modalità PROG, gli ultimi undici tasti della tastiera sono assegnati a
cifre numeriche (0–9), a questi si aggiunge il tasto ENTER (INVIO). Per inviare un messag-
gio di cambio di programma, premere il tasto PROG, poi inserire il numero di programma
con l'ausilio dei tasti numerati. Dopo aver inserito il numero di programma, premere il
tasto ENTER (INVIO) per trasmettere le informazioni relative al numero di programma. Il
controller Graphite M32 uscirà dalla modalità Programma e i tasti funzione trasmetteranno
dati relativi alle note.
10. Tastiera - Tastiera da 32 note sensibile alla velocity.
11. Connessione USB - Per alimentare la tastiera e per inviare e ricevere dati MIDI collegare il
cavo mini USB in dotazione da questa porta alla porta per la connessione USB presente su
un computer.

di ogni comando su cui è possibile intervenire.
Manopola di regolazione del volume assegnabile
Control change: imposta il numero del messaggio di control change che la manopola trasmetterà.
Canale MIDI: imposta il canale MIDI specifico che la manopola userà per trasmettere i dati.
Cursore dati assegnabile
Control change: imposta il numero del messaggio di control change che il cursore trasmetterà.
