7Care of lens
Storage
When the lens in the pick-up gets dirty, malfunctions including the impos-
sibility of playback may occur. The lens should be cleaned using a commer-
cially available camera lens blower, etc. Do not touch the lens to prevent
damaging the mechanism. Also do not use a lens cleaner or disc cleaner
product.
When a disc is not to be played for a long period of time, remove it from the
CD player and store it in its case.
7Caution on condensation
Condensation (of dew) may occur inside the unit when there is a great
difference in temperature between this unit and the outside.
This unit may not function properly if condensation occurs. In this case,
leave the unit for a few hours and restart the operation after the conden-
sation has dried up.
7Care of main unit
When the unit gets dirty, clean with a soft, dry cloth. If the unit is stained
seriously, a moistened cloth can be used. Do not use thinner, benzine,
alcohol, etc. for these agents may cause discoloration.
Be specially cautious against condensation in the following circumstances:
When this unit is carried from one place to another across a large difference
in temperature, when the humidity in the room where this unit is installed
increases, etc.
7Cleaning the plug
Wipe the headphone plug with a soft cloth to keep it clean.
A dirty plug may cause noise or malfunction.
7Caution on disc used
Usable discs:
This unit is capable of playing back the Audio CD discs, CD-R/CD-RW (CD-
DA, MP3/WMA) discs and discs carrying the
marking. Other discs
cannot be played. 8 cm single CDs can be played as they are; do not use a
commercially-available single CD adapter.
÷ Certain CD-R/CD-RW (CD-DA, MP3/WMA) discs may not be played
due to recording conditions of the discs.
Handling:
Hold compact discs so that you do not touch the playing surface.
Do not attach paper or tape to either the playing side or the label side of

Never play a cracked or warped disc:
During playback, the disc rotates at high speed in the player. Therefore, to
avoid danger, never use a cracked or deformed disc or a disc repaired with
tape or adhesive agent.
