Im portant Safety Instructions
Follow these safety precautions when using your cordless phone to reduce the risk
of fire, electric shock and injury to persons or property:
Reduce risk of fire and shock by:
1. Keep all slits and openings of the phone unblocked. Do not set the phone on a
heating register or over a radiator. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided at
the installation site.
2. Do not use while wet or while standing in water.
3. Do not use this product near water (for exam ple, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, or
swim m ing pool).
4. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Place the power cord so that it
will not be walked on.
5. Never insert objects of any kind into the product slits as that m ay result in fire or
shock.
6. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners
or aerosol cleaners. Use a dam p cloth for cleaning.
7. Do not disassem ble this product. If service or repair work is required, contact the
Warranty Service phone num ber found in the back of this user's guide.
8. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords.
9. Avoid using during an electrical storm . Use a surge protector to protect the
equipm ent.
10.Do not use this cordless phone to report a gas leak, especially if you are in the
vicinity of the gas line.

Unplug this cordless phone im m ediately from an outlet if:
The power cord or plug is dam aged or frayed.
Liquid has been spilled into the product.
The product has been exposed to rain or water. Do not retrieve the handset or base
until after you have unplugged the power and phone from the wall. Then retrieve
the unit by unplugged cords.
The product has been dropped or the cabinet has been dam aged.
The product exhibits a distinct change in perform ance.
Installation Guidelines
1. Read and understand all instructions and save them for future reference.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions m arked on the product.
3. Do not install this product near a bath tub, sink or shower.
4. Operate this phone using only the power source that is indicated on the m arking
label. If you are unsure of the power supply to your hom e, consult with your dealer
or local power com pany.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand or table. This product m ay
fall, causing serious dam age to the product.
6. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions. Im proper
adjustm ent of other controls m ay result in dam age and will often require extensive
work to restore the product to norm al operation.
7. Clean this product with a soft, dam p cloth. Do not use chem icals or cleaning agents
to clean this phone.

8. Use only the power supply that cam e with this unit. Using other power supplies
m ay dam age the unit.
9. Because cordless phones operate on electricity, you should have at least one phone
in your hom e that isn't cordless, in case the power in your hom e goes out.
10. To avoid interference to nearby appliances, do not place the base of the cordless
phone on or near a TV, m icrowave oven, or VCR.
11. It is im possible to m ake em ergency calls when the keypad lock is enabled.
12. This telephone com plies with applicable safety requirem ents for exposure to radio
waves (EMR).The m ean power of this telephone does not exceed 20m W lim it at
which point testing is required.
13. The earpiece of the handset m ay attract sm all m etal objects such as staples and
pins. Care should be taken when placing the handset near these item s.
14. Do not use the handset in an explosive hazard area such as where there is gas
leaking.
15. This telephone is not designed for m aking em ergency telephone calls when the
m ains power fails. Always have a corded phone available to be able to m ake and
receive calls to em ergency services if the m ains power fails.

Please check the contents of the package carefully. If som ething is m issing or has
becom e dam aged in transit, you should NOT use the telephone. In such a case you
should return to the dealer with your sales receipt or contact the Motorola's distributor
directly. (For details, please refer to the Warranty section.)
Note: Retain the packaging of your appliance to prevent it from being dam aged should
you ever need to return it.
Setting up the Base Station and Charger Unit
Place the base station and charger unit in an easily accessible location. Make sure
that the location is stable and flat and that the surface is non-slip. When choosing
the location, also m ake sure that all cables can be routed so as to prevent people
tripping over them . Furtherm ore, avoid placing the base station and charger unit in
the im m ediate vicinity of other electronic appliances such as m icrowaves, PCs or Hi-
Fi's, for exam ple.

Do not expose the base station and charger unit to direct sunlight. Do
not allow the base station and charger unit to becom e wet. They should
not be set up in room s which are subject to condensation or corrosive
steam or a high concentration of dust (e.g. cellars, garages or
conservatories). The room tem perature m ust be between 00C and 350C.
Connecting the Base Station and Mains Adaptor
Insert the plug in the corresponding socket of the base station (it is not possible to
m ix them up as the socket and plug are designed to be reverse-polarity protected).
Route the cable beneath the telephone towards the back. Insert the plug into the
socket of the telephone plug of your telephone connection. Insert the m ains adaptor
in the wall socket. The base station is now ready for use.

to that of your m ains

Connecting the Charger Unit
Insert the plug of the m ains adaptor in the
socket on the underneath of the charger unit.
Plug the m ains adaptor into the m ains socket.
The charger unit is now ready to use.
Inserting the Batteries
Open the battery compartment by pushing downwards
on the battery com partm ent cover. Insert AAA-type
batteries, observing the correct polarity.
The mobile handset will not operate if the batteries
are inserted incorrectly. There is also a possibility
that the handset m ay be dam aged thereby.
Replace the cover on the battery com partm ent and push it upwards
until it clicks into place. Place the handset in the base station.
A confirm ation beep and the charging indicator confirm that charging has begun.
Note: When used for the first tim e, allow the batteries to charge for at least 14 hours
without interruption. If possible, only take the handset out of the base station when
the charging process has ended. This will help to guarantee optim um operation.
Note: To ensure the battery charging properly, clean the charging contacts on the
handset and charger with a soft, dry cloth once a m onth. Clean m ore often if the unit is
subject to grease, dust or high hum idity.

Sw itching the Handset On/ Off
When the handset is placed on the base station or charging unit, it switches on
autom atically and starts to charge up. Allow the batteries to be charged for 14 hours
without interruption the first tim e they are charged. The telephone does not have an
On/Off switch.
Selecting the Language
Ten different languages are available for selection for each handset.

Entering/ Changing Em ergency Num ber
Em ergency num bers are free of any restrictions, i.e. they can still be called even if
barring of any kind is set.
Note: It is im possible to m ake em ergency calls when the keypad lock is enabled.

Before emergency numbers can be used, they must be stored. The emergency numbers
can then be dialed m anually or from the phone book if they are stored there.
Two different em ergency num bers (m axim um of five digits) can be program m ed.
Exam ple: Three-digit em ergency num ber = 123. All num bers which begin with 123
are dialed even if the unit is only program m ed for internal calls.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Giant Telecom , BVI (Distributor) guarantees to you, the original purchaser, the digital
cordless telephone and accessories which you have purchased from an authorised
reseller (the "Products"), to be in conform ance with the applicable specifications current
at the tim e of m anufacture for a term of 12 m onths from date of purchase of the
Product(s) (Warranty Term ). You m ust inform Distributor of the lack of conform ity to
the applicable specifications of any of the Products within a period of two (2) m onths
from the date on which you detect a defect in m aterial, workm anship or lack of
conform ity and in any event within a term not to exceed the Warranty Term , and m ust
im m ediately subm it the Product for service to Distributor's Repair or Service Centre.
During the Warranty term , Distributor will, at its discretion and without extra charge,
as your exclusive rem edy, repair or replace your Product which does not com ply with
this warranty; or failing this, to reim burse the price of the Product but reduced to take
into account the use you have had of the Product since it was delivered. This warranty
will expire at the end of the Warranty Term .

HOW TO GET WARRANTY SERVICE?
In order to be eligible to receive warranty service, you m ust present your receipt of
purchase or a com parable substitute proof of purchase bearing the date of purchase.
The digital cordless telephone should also clearly display the original com patible
electronic serial num ber. Such inform ation is contained with the Product.

You m ust ensure that all and any repairs or servicing is handled at all tim es by a
Distributor's Service Centre in accordance with the Distributor's Service requirem ents.
In som e cases, you m ay be requested to provide additional inform ation concerning
the m aintenance of the Products by Distributor's Service Centres only, therefore it is
important to keep a record of any previous repairs, and make them available if questions
arise concerning m aintenance.
CONDITIONS
This warranty will not apply if the type or serial num bers on the Product has been
altered, deleted, duplicated, rem oved, or m ade illegible. Distributor reserves the right
to refuse free-of-charge warranty service if the requested docum entation can not be
presented or if the inform ation is incom plete, illegible or incom patible with the factory
records. Repair, at Distributor's option, m ay include reflashing of software, the
replacem ent of parts or boards with functionally equivalent, reconditioned or new
parts or boards. Replaced parts, accessories, batteries, or boards are warranted for
the balance of the original warranty tim e period. The Warranty Term will not be
extended. All original accessories, batteries, parts, and digital cordless telephone that
have been replaced shall becom e the property of Distributor.
Distributor does not warrant the installation, m aintenance or service of the products,
accessories, batteries or parts.
Distributor will not be responsible in any way for problem s or dam age caused by any
ancillary equipm ent not furnished by Distributor which is attached to or used in
connection with the Products.

When the Product is used in conjunction with ancillary or peripheral equipm ent not
supplied for this digital cordless telephone by Distributor, Distributor does not warrant
the operation of the Product/peripheral com bination and Distributor will not honour
any warranty claim where the Product is used in such a combination and it is determined
by Distributor that there is no fault with the Product.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY
This warranty is not valid if the defects are due to dam age, m isuse, tam pering, neglect
or lack of care and in case of alterations or repair carried out by unauthorised persons.
The following are exam ples of defects or dam age not covered by this product warranty
Defects or dam age resulting from use of the Product in other than its norm al and
custom ary m anner.
Defects or dam age from m isuse, access to incom patible sources, accident or neglect.
Defects or dam age from im proper testing, operation, m aintenance, installation,
adjustm ent, unauthorised software applications or any alteration or m odification
of any kind.
Breakage or dam age to antennas unless caused directly by defects in m aterial or
workm anship.
Products disassem bled or repaired other than by Distributor in such a m anner as
to adversely affect perform ance or prevent adequate inspection and testing to verify
any warranty claim .
Defects or dam age due to range, coverage, availability, grade of service, or operation
of the cellular system by the cellular operator.
Defects or dam age due to m oist, liquid or spills of food.

All plastic surfaces and all other externally exposed parts that are scratched or
dam aged due to custom er norm al use.
Products rented on a tem porary basis.
Periodic m aintenance and repair or replacem ent of parts due to norm al wear and tear.
Note: The talk-tim e, stand-by tim e and total life cycle of the rechargeable batteries
for your digital cordless telephone will depend on usage conditions and network
configurations. As a consum able product, the specifications indicate that you should
be able to obtain optim um perform ance for your digital cordless telephone within
the first two m onths from date of purchase.
The warranty for the rechargeable batteries becomes void if (i) the batteries are charged
other than by original battery chargers specified for the charging of the battery, (ii)
any of the seals on the battery are broken or show evidence of tam pering, (iii) the
battery is used in equipm ent or service other than the digital cordless telephone for
which it is specified.
Depending on operating conditions and your usage habits, wear and tear m ight take
place of com ponents including m echanical problem s related to Product housing, paint,
assem bly, sub-assem blies, displays and keyboards and any accessories which are
not part of the Product's in-box configuration. The rectification of faults generated
through wear and tear and the use of consum able item s like batteries is considered
to be your responsibility and therefore Distributor will not provide the free Warranty
repair service for these item s.

Please m ake and retain a note of all data you have inserted into your Product for
exam ple nam es and phone num bers, before subm itting your Product for a Warranty
service as such data m ay be deleted or erased as part of the repair or service process.
OUT OF WARRANTY REPAIRS
If you request Distributor to repair your Product any tim e after the Warranty term or
where this warranty does not apply due to the nature of the defect or fault, then
Distributor m ay in its discretion carry out such repairs subject to you paying Distributor
its fees for such a repair or it m ay refer you to an authorised third party to carry out
such repairs.
