Recommendations for using your display system
Recommendations for using your
display system
1. Optimize the lifetime of your display
Enabling the Display Power Management System (DPMS) of your
display (in the display’s Settings menu) will optimize its diagnostic
lifetime by automatically switching off the backlight when the display
is not used for a specified period of time. By default, DPMS is enabled
on your display, but it also needs to be activated on your workstation.
To do this, go to “Power Options Properties” in the “Control Panel”.
Barco recommends setting DPMS activation after 20 minutes of
non-usage.
2. Use a screen saver to avoid image retention
Prolonged operation of an LCD with the same content on the same
screen area may result in a form of image retention.
You can avoid or significantly reduce the occurrence of this
phenomenon by using a screen saver. You can activate a screen saver
in the “Display properties” window of your workstation.
Barco recommends setting screen saver activation after 5
minutes of non-usage. A good screen saver displays moving
content.
In case you are working with the same image or an application with
static image elements for several hours continuously (so that the
screen saver is not activated), change the image content regularly to
avoid image retention of the static elements.
3. Understand pixel technology
LCD displays use technology based on pixels. As a normal tolerance in
the manufacturing of the LCD, a limited number of these pixels may
remain either dark or permanently lit, without affecting the
18

Recommendations for using your display system
diagnostic performance of the product. To ensure optimal product
quality, Barco applies strict selection criteria for its LCD panels.
To learn more about LCD technology and missing pixels, consult
4. Enhance user comfort
Every Barco multi-head display system is color matched with the
highest specification in the market.
Barco recommends keeping color-matched displays together.
Furthermore, it is important to use all displays of a multi-head
configuration at the same rate to preserve color matching
throughout the economic lifetime of the system.
5. Maximize Quality Assurance
The ‘MediCal QAWeb’ system offers online service for high-grade
Quality Assurance, providing maximum diagnostic confidence and
uptime.

Precautions
• Before cleaning, switch the display in stand-by position to
prevent the control touch keys from being activated
inadvertently by sweeping over the front filter. In stand-by
position the touch keys cannot be activated by just sweeping
over them. To switch the display on again, you must press the
stand-by touch key for a few seconds.
• Take care not to damage or scratch the front filter or LCD
panel. Be careful with rings or other jewelry that can touch
the front filter.
• Do not apply pressure on the front filter or LCD panel.
• Do not apply or spray liquid directly to the front filter, panel or
cabinet as excess liquid may cause damage to internal
electronics. Instead, apply the liquid to the cleaning cloth.

Driver and Software Installation
Driver and Software Installation
This chapter will guide you through the installation of the drivers,
software and documentation associated with your Barco Coronis
Fusion 6MP Display System or Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP Display(s).
Driver and software installation prerequisites
Note: To install or remove the drivers, software, or
documentation you must be logged on as a user with
administrator privileges.
Your operating system must be installed and running before you can
install the driver, software and documentation for the Barco display
controller(s) for your BARCO CORONIS FUSION 6MP Display System.
Before you begin make sure that all of your Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP
Display(s) is connected to the appropriate display controller(s) in your
system.
Note: This installation procedure is based on operating
Windows in “Classic” theme. If “Aero” or “Basic” theme is
selected in Windows, sections of this procedure may be different
than what is listed.
Installing the BARCO MXRT drivers and software
Note: The installation dialog will display in English if your
operating system’s language is not supported.
This process applies to the following versions of Windows:
• Windows 7 32 & 64 Bit
You will need to install the Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP Display system
drivers and software in the following cases:
50

Driver and Software Installation
• After you have installed the Barco display controller(s) for
your BARCO CORONIS FUSION 6MP Display System in your system
for the first time.
• After you have reinstalled or upgraded your operating system.
• When you upgrade to a newer version of the MXRT driver.
Note: You do not need to manually uninstall an existing driver
before updating to the current version. The Barco Product
Installation Wizard will detect any prior installations and start
the uninstallation process automatically if necessary.
Note: When there is a non-Barco board in the system, we
recommend that you first install the driver for the non-Barco
board, prior to installation of the Barco driver. After each driver
installation, you should reboot the system, before proceeding
with installation of another driver.
1. Start your system. If you have a fresh OS installation, the OS will
automatically install an ATI driver (Windows 7 inbox driver) for
the Barco MXRT Graphics Card(s). When the OS prompts you to
restart your computer, click yes, to allow the automatic driver
installation to complete, and reboot the system.
2. Launch the Barco Product Installation Wizard. The installation
Wizard should start automatically when you insert the Barco
Display System Installation DVD into your computer's DVD drive.
If the installation does not start, in the "auto play" window, click
Run setup.exe.
3. If a previous installation of MXRT driver is present, the
installation wizard will detect it and guide you through the
uninstallation process if necessary.
4. By default, choose the Express Install option. The Master installer
will install the following components:
a) BMSE
b) QAWebAgent
c) Graphics Driver
51
Driver and Software Installation
5. Click "Yes" to accept driver's License Agreement, and then "Next"
to continue.
Note: In a mixed board configuration (MXRT1150/2150 and
MXRT5200/7300), two separate drivers will be installed. The
master Install program will make two passes through the driver
installation process (i.e. License Agreement, Verify Installation
Options, etc.).
6. During installation, there may be a fair amount of display
flashing, and the install wizard window may appear on different
displays. This is an expected behavior.
7. When the installation of all components has completed, the
automatic reboot window will be displayed. Allow the system to
reboot.
To verify that the driver was installed, go to the Windows Control
Panel, select System, select Device Manager, then select Display
Adapters. Verify that Barco MXRT graphics boards were properly
identified, as shown below:
Automated display configuration
Once the drivers, software and documentation have been installed
and your system has been rebooted, the Barco Monitor Plug and Play
Software should automatically detect your Barco displays and attach
them to the desktop with the correct resolution. If the Barco Monitor
Plug and Play Software fails to detect your Barco displays or fails to
52
Driver and Software Installation
attach them to the desktop correctly, please set the resolution of your
Barco Display(s) following the instructions in the Configuring
Windows section of this manual.
Reinstalling drivers
You can install new drivers or reinstall existing drivers at any time by
using the Barco Set-up wizard on your Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP
Display System Installation CD-ROM, see Installing the BARCO MXRT
Uninstalling the drivers and software
To uninstall the Barco drivers, software or documentation for your
Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP Display Systems, please use the Windows
Add/Remove Program. This can be found in the Windows Control
Panel under Programs & Features.
Note: When uninstalling the Barco MXRT drivers, the following
dialog box will appear, and select the driver listed if not already
selected (driver version may be different than what is pictured
below).
53
Driver and Software Installation
Barco MXRT Driver Removal Wizard (driver version may be different
than what is pictured)
Note: After uninstalling the driver, shutdown the machine and
remove the card. If you leave the card in the system, Windows 7
will automatically attempt to reinstall the driver.
Silent Installation of Drivers and Software
Once A Barco graphics driver has been pre-loaded into the driver store
of a Windows 7 OS, subsequent installation of the driver would be
intervention-free.
To pre-load the driver software into the driver store, open a command
shell and navigate to the appropriate driver directory and run the
PnPUtil program with the -a "add" parameter. For example:
cd d:\Barco\drivers\VS32\MXRT
pnputil -a *.inf
The PnPUtil will parse the inf files and add the MXRT drivers to the
driver store.
If this is the first installation of a Barco driver, the trust prompt will ask
whether you really want to install the driver. Check the box that says
54
Driver and Software Installation
"Always trust software from Barco" and press OK. The PnPUtil will
confirm the driver is loaded into the driver store.
At this point you can change to another directory and repeat this with
other drivers.
Since you have indicated that you always trust Barco software, you
will not see the trust prompt.
If you install using wildcards, you may see an error message that the
Autorun.inf was not an expected format. This is expected and is
harmless.
When you have added all of the drivers that you will need to the
driver store, you can image the drive, and use it for staging additional
systems. All of the systems with this driver store are set up for
intervention-free silent installation.
To do a silent installation it is only necessary to navigate to the Barco
root folder and execute the command "setup.exe -silent". This can be
done from the command shell, from the Run command, or from a
command shortcut. The setup program will automatically install the
drivers for any BarcoMed or MXRT boards that are present, the
BarcoMed Self Exam program, and QAWeb (if part of the installation
package).

General tips
General tips
• If one display from a multi-head system exhibits problems, try
to eliminate the problem by switching video cables or power
supplies. In that way you can find out if the problem resides in
the display or not.
If the display screen remains black after installation:
Possible causes:
• Power is not properly connected
• Video cable is not properly connected
• Video cable is bad
• Display is switched off - activate the power button to switch it
on
• PC is started up while the display was not connected - reboot
the PC while all displays are connected
• Graphic board resolution is too high or too low
• Two displays with different resolution are connected to the
same graphic board
• One of the heads of the graphic board is not attached in the
display properties control panel
• PC is in stand-by mode
