Specifications/maintenance
Declaration of conformity Care and maintenance
Siemens Information and Communi-
cation mobile hereby declares that
the phone described in this user
guide is in compliance with the es-
sential requirements and other rele-
vant provisions of European Direc-
tive 1999/5/EC (R&TTE).
A lot of care has gone into designing
and manufacturing your phone;
please treat it with care. You will en-
joy using your phone for a very long
time if you follow the suggestions
below.
• Keep your phone dry and protect
it from moisture. Precipitation,
moisture and liquids contain min-
erals that will corrode electronic
circuits. If your phone does be-
come wet, you should immediate-
ly disconnect it from the power
supply, if there is one, or remove
the batteries.
The declaration of conformity (DoC)
concerned has been signed. Please
call the company hotline if you re-
quire a copy of the original.
Technical data
GSM class:
Frequency range: 880 - 960 MHz
GSM class: 1 (1 Watt)
Frequency range: 1, 710 - 1, 880 MHz
4 (2 Watt)
• Never use your phone in dusty or
dirty conditions, and don't keep it
in such places. The phone's mov-
ing parts may be damaged.
Weight:
73 g
• Never keep the phone in places
that are too hot. High tempera-
tures can shorten the life of elec-
tronic devices, damage batteries
and deform or melt certain plas-
tics.
Dimensions:
73 x 39 x 22 mm
Operating voltage: 3.8 Volt
Operating
temperature:
Standby time:
Talk time:
-10 °C to 55 °C
up to 220 h
up to 4.5 h
3.0 Volt
• Never keep the phone in places
that are too cold. Moisture that
will damage electronic boards
may form inside the phone when
it warms up again (to its normal
operating temperature).
SIM card:
• Never drop the phone; do not ex-
pose it to impacts or shocks and
do not shake it. Rough treatment
like this may break the circuit
boards in the device.

77
Specifications/maintenance
• Never clean your phone with cor-
Quality declaration for
battery
rosive chemicals, cleaning solu-
tions or harsh detergents.
All the above notes apply equally to
phones, batteries, chargers and ac-
cessories of any kind. If any of these
parts do not work properly please
take them to your specialist dealer.
They will be able to assist you and
repair the device if necessary.
The capacity of your mobile phone
battery reduces each time you
charge/ discharge it. Storing the bat-
tery at temperatures that are too
high or too low also causes a gradual
loss of capacity. This can cause the
operating times of your mobile
phone to reduce significantly per us-
age cycle.
Phone ID
You will need the following details if you
lose your phone or SIM card. Please enter
here the number of the SIM card (on the
card):
The battery is, however, designed to
be charged and fully discharged
within a period of six months from
when the mobile phone was pur-
chased. Following this six months
period, we recommend replacing
your battery if you experience a sig-
nificant drop in performance. Please
purchase only Siemens original bat-
teries.

Pacific)
Li-Ion Battery (600mAh)
The charger is a convenient solution for
charging a spare battery. The charge status
is indicated by an LED. The battery is charg-
ing when the red LED is lit. At the end of the
charging process the LED goes out.
L36880-N6901-A108
The Li-Ion Battery increases the standby
and talk times and weighs significantly less.
Loop Headset with PTT
The spare battery should be inserted in the
charger with the Siemens logo visible on the
top. Make sure that the battery clips fully into
the charger. To take the battery out again,
push it down slightly and pull it out.

Personalisation
The CL50 offers numerous options
for personalisation, i.e. individual
configuration to suit your own spe-
cific tastes. For example you can
have operator graphics as bitmaps *
or screensavers sent via SMS to
your mobile phone. SMS can also be
used to send sounds as ring tones
to your CL50.
The Siemens City portal offers nu-
merous ringtones, screensavers and
operator bitmaps.
You will find the City portal on the
Internet under:
The portal also includes a list of
countries where this service is avail-
able.
The following pages in the User
Guide describe the relevant down-
load process:
Ringtone melodies ............... p. 60
Operator bitmaps*............... p. 33
_______________________________
* An operator bitmap is a graphic
which can be loaded into the display
of the mobile phone in place of the
network operator designation and
will appear there permanently. This
graphic is however linked to the net-
work of the operator concerned and
is not usually displayed during roam-
ing (e.g. when you are logged on
abroad to the network of another
provider).

SAR (European Union)
THIS MODEL OF PHONE MEETS
THE EU REQUIREMENTS FOR EX-
POSURE TO RADIO WAVES.
Before a phone model is available for
sale to the public, compliance with
the European R&TTE directive must
be shown. This directive includes as
one essential requirement the pro-
tection of the health and the safety
for the user and any other person.
The highest SAR value for this mod-
el phone CL50 when tested for com-
pliance against the standard was
0.88 W/kg. While there may be dif-
ferences between the SAR levels of
various phones and at various posi-
tions, they all meet the EU require-
ments for RF exposure.
Your mobile phone CL50 is a radio
transmitter and receiver. It is de-
signed and manufactured not to ex-
ceed the limits for exposure to radio
frequency (RF) energy recommend-
ed by The Council of the European
Union. These limits are part of com-
prehensive guidelines and establish
permitted levels of RF energy for the
general population. The guidelines
were developed by independent sci-
entific organisations through period-
ic and thorough evaluation of scien-
tific studies. The limits include a
substantial safety margin designed
to assure the safety of all persons,
regardless of age and health.
_______________________________
* The SAR limit for mobile phones used by the
public is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged
over ten grams of tissue. The limit incorporates
a substantial margin of safety to give additional
protection for the public and to account for any
variations in measurements. SAR values may
vary depending on national reporting require-
ments and the network band. For SAR informa-
tion in other regions please look under product
The exposure standard for mobile
phones employs a unit of measure-
ment known as the Specific Absorp-
tion Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit rec-
ommended by The Council of the
European Union is 2.0 W/kg.* Tests
for SAR have been conducted using
standard operating positions with
the phone transmitting at its highest
certified power level in all tested fre-
quency bands. Although the SAR is
determined at the highest certified
power level, the actual SAR level of
the phone while operating can be
well below the maximum value. This
is because the phone is designed to
operate at multiple power levels so
as to use only the power required to
reach the network. In general, the
closer you are to a base station an-
tenna, the lower the power output.
