Congratulations on your new MR. COFFEE” coffeemaker! Please read these  
instructions carefully before using your new coffeemaker. Proper use, care and  
maintenance will ensure trouble-free operation and the long life of this appliance.  
Save these instructions for cleaning and, if necessary, replacement parts information.

Adjusting the power cord length  
You can customize the length of the power cord up to 3 feet so that it is the exact  
length you desire.  
To increase the length of the power cord:  
Grasp the power cord (not the power  
plug) and gently pull it away from the  
coffeemaker.  
To decrease the length of the power cord:  
Grasp the power cord

few inches away from  
where it attaches to the coffeemaker. Slowly feed  
it into the coffeemaker.  
Setting the clock  
(models URX20  
URX23, URX30 and URX33 only)  
The clock flashes on the control panel to indicate that it has not been set.  
must set the clock if you want to use the timer feature.  
To set the clock:  
Press and hold the HOUR button until the clock  
displays the correct hour. See fig. A.  
The PM indicator will light to indicate

PM time; if  
the PM indicator is not lit, the time is AM.

displays the correct minute. See fig. B.  
The clock is now set.

Brewing coffee  
Cleaning the coffeemaker before first use  
Follow the steps under “Adding water and ground coffee” and “Brewing coffee  
now,” (pages 5-6) but do not add coffee grounds.  
Selecting and measuring ground coffee  
For best results, use coffee ground for use with automatic drip coffee makers,  
The amounts shown below are suggested amounts.

Open the brew basket lid and lift out the  
removable filter basket.  
Place a MR. COFFEE@ brand 8-I 2 cup paper filter

the removable filter basket.  
Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the  
filter. Gently shake the filter basket to level the  
ground coffee.

Return the filter basket to the brew basket. Be certain  
that the filter  
is  
centered in the filter basket and then  
close the lid to the brew basket.  
51 Remove the water reservoir by gasping the hand  
holds in the back of the reservoir, and pulling up. Fill it  
with the desired amount of tap water. Replace the  
reservoir on the coffeemaker, making sure that it is  
firmly attached to the coffeemaker body  
Make sure the reservoir is squarely centered  
on the coffeemaker or the water may overflow.  
An overflow may cause personal injury or  
damage to property.  
Use the water window marks to measure the water,  
not the decanter marks The decanter marks

Place the decanter on the warming plate.

Make sure the decanter is squarely centered  
on the warming plate or the water and  
grounds will overflow from the brew basket.  
An overflow may cause personal injury or  
damage to property.  
To reduce the risk of damaging the decanter  
and/or the risk of personal injury, do not add  
cold water to the decanter if the decanter is  
already hot. Allow the decanter to. cool  
before using.  
Do not brew coffee while the brew basket lid  
is open.  
Brewing coffee now  
For models URI 2 and URI 3:  
Press the ON button.  
The ON indicator will light, indicating that the  
coffeemaker is on and the brew cycle will begin.  
When the coffee stops flowing, the brew cycle is  
complete.  
Whilethe coffee

brewing, the Pause N’ Serve  
feature allows you to sneak a cup of coffee from  
the decanter. REPLACE THE DECANTER ON THE  
WARMING PLATE WITHIN 30 SECONDS TO  
PREVENT OVERFLOW AND POSSIBLE INJURY  
To turn off the coffeemaker, press the OFF button.  
f the brew basket overflows or fails to empty  
mto the decanter, do not open the brew  
basket. Unplug the coffeemaker and wait for  
the contents to cool before handling.  
For models URX20, URX23, URX30 and URX33:

If you are making four cups of coffee or fewer,  
press the 1-4 Cups button (models URX30 and  
URX33 only).

After two hours, the coffeemaker  
shut off and you will whiell ar 3 beep  
tones (models URX30 and URX33 only).  
Brewing coffee later  
(using the delay timer, models U R X 2 0 URX23 URX30 and  
uRx33 only)  
You must set the time that you would like the  
coffeemaker to begin brewing your coffee.  
If you are making four cups of coffee or fewer, press  
the 1-4 Cups button (models URX30 and URX33 only).

1.) Press and hold the PRESS HOLD button.

). While still pressing and holding the PRESS HOLD  
button, press and hold the Hour button until the  
clock displays the hour you desire. The PM  
indicator will light to indicate a PM time; if the PM  
indicator is not lit, the time is AM.

3.) While still pressing and holding the PRESS HOLD  
button, press and hold the Min. button until the  
clock displays the correct minute.  
4.) Release the PRESS HOLD button.  
5 ) Press the DELAY BREW button.  
The Delay Brew indicator will light. The delay  
timer is set and the coffeemaker will begin  
brewing the coffee at the time you selected.  
I f You want Your coffee t o brew at the same time  
the folIowIng day, simply add the desired amount  
of ground coffee, fill the water reservoir and press  
the DELAY BREW button  
Adjusting the warming plate temperature  
(models URX30 and URX33 only)  
You can adjust the warming plate temperature to five different settings, from warm  
to very hot.  
To adjust the warming plate temperature:  
Press the Min. button to lower the temperature  
of the warming plate. Press the Max. button to  
raise the temperature of the warming plate.  
Cleaning the coffeemaker between brew cycles  
To clean up the used coffee grounds and filter:  
I
.) Discard the grounds and paper filter and rinse the  
filter basket. You may also wash the filter basket in  
the dishwasher (top rack dishwasher safe only).  
,) Rinse the decanter with warm water. You may also  
wash the decanter in tie dishwasher (top rack  
dishwasher safe only).

Make sure the coffeemaker is turned off when  
the decanter is empty.  
Brewed coffee and grounds are both very hot.  
Handle them with care to avoid scalding injuries.  
Unplug the coffeemaker’s power cord if you  
are not using the coffeemaker or clock.

Maintaining your coffeemaker  
Maintaining your coffeemaker and its parts will help extend the life of the appliance.

Cleaning the coffeemaker  
Your coffeemaker must be cleaned when You notice any of the follow conditions:  
l
l
l
excessive steaming  
increased brew cycle times  
the pumping action stops before all of the water has been pumped from the  
water  
reservoir  
These conditions are caused by lime or other mineral deposits.  
How frequently you clean your coffeemaker depends upon the hardness of your tap  
water. The following table gives suggested cleaning intervals.

To clean mineral deposits from your coffeemaker:  
1.)  
Pour four cups of undiluted white household  
vinegar into the water reservoir.  
2.) Place

paper filter into the removable filter  
basket and close the brew basket lid.  
3.) Place the empty decanter on the warming plate.  
Maker sure to center the decanter squarely on  
the warming plate to avoid the possibility of  
overflow.  
4.) Start the cleaning cycle for models:

UR12 and UR13  
a. Press the ON button.  
l
URX20 and URX23  
a. Press the BREW button to turn on  
the coffeemaker.

b. When three cups of vinegar have flowed  
into the decanter, turn the coffeemaker  
off and let the vinegar stand for 30  
minutes.  
c. Turn the coffeemaker back on and let all  
the vinegar flow through.  
d. When the brew cycle is complete,  
turn the coffeemaker off and discard  
both the vinegar and the paper filter.  
For Models:  
l
URX30  
and URX33  
a. Press the Clean Cycle button.  
The Clean Cycle indicator will light. Half of the  
vinegar will flow into the decanter, then the  
cleaning cycle will pause for 30 minutes before  
the remaining vinegar flows through into the  
decanter.  
b.When the cleaning cycle is complete, discard  
both the vinegar and the paper filter.

Fill the water reservoir with tap water. Replace  
the reservoir on the coffeemaker, making sure that  
it is firmly attached to the coffeemaker body  
6.) Place the decanter on the warming plate and turn  
the coffeemaker on and allow it to complete  
brew cycle.

Discard the water in the decanter and turn the  
coffeemaker off. Repeat steps through to flush  
all traces of vinegar from the coffeemaker.

Cleaning the decanter  
Hard water can leave  
the stain brown.

filters are available at most grocery stores.
