feet should separate the CDP-10 from the power

amplifier. As well, keep low-level interconnect

cables away from the power amp and separate

from A.C. power cords. The CDP-10 generates

negligible amounts of heat. Therefore, air space

around the CDP-10 for ventilation need not be a

concern.

Safety Instructions

1. WATER AND MOISTURE: This product should

not be used near water. To prevent fire or shock

hazard, do not expose this product to rain or

moisture.

A.C. LINE POWER

The ON/OFF POWER switch on the CDP-10 is

located on the back panel of the unit, to the left,

above the AC inlet. There is also a STANDBY

button located directly below the display. In

STANDBY mode, the mechanism is shut down

but the vital internal components are kept active

to assure perfect musical performance as soon as

the unit is reactivated. In STANDBY mode, a

status LED will light up. This status LED is located

directly to the left of the display. Please note that

the CDP-10 will turn on immediately (not going

through STANDBY) when first powered up from

the main power switch at the back of the unit.

While thoroughly musical shortly after turn-on,

the CDP-10 will exhibit "sonic growth" for the

first 300 hours of use.

CLASSÉ DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

2. HEAT: This product should be situated away

from heat sources such as radiators, heat

registers, stoves, or other appliances which

produces heat.

All our components benefit from the same

rigorous design goal: All Classé products must

reproduce music with the harmonics and spatial

integrity typical of fine instruments heard in a

live performance.

3. POWER SOURCES: This product should be

connected to an AC power source of the proper

rated voltage. The original shipping container

and the serial number tag at the back of the unit

will stipulate the AC voltage from which this unit

can operate correctly.

Single Circuit Design

To this end, we make extensive use of carefully

optimised versions of the same basic circuit

precisely matched to specific power

requirements. This means that all Classé line level

components and power amplifiers benefit from

years of refinement. However, our efforts do not

stop here.

4. SERVICING: Do not open this unit for any

reason. No user serviceable parts inside. Refer

servicing to an authorized service technician.

5. NON-USE PERIODS: The power cord of this

unit should be unplugged from the AC outlet

when left unused for an extended period of time.

6. DO NOT REMOVE THE TOP COVER while the

unit is ON or connected to an AC outlet, there is

a SHOCK HAZARD. AVOID DIRECT EXPOSURE to

the beam since it may also leak invisible laser

radiation.

For optimum sonic performance, you should

consider use of the optional CLASSÉ REFERENCE

A.C. LINE CORD. Consult your Classé dealer

regarding this accessory.

Listening: The Critical Design Element

Once we determine general circuit values for a

particular application, we listen carefully while

exchanging and mixing different parts

1. Unpacking and Accessories

The Classé CDP-10 has been carefully wrapped in

heavy gauge plastic, packed in semi-rigid foam

and contained in a special box. Remove the

plastic wrap and inspect the unit for any

concealed damage. Report any concealed

damage to your dealer promptly.

2. Setup

A note about the connecting cables

The CDP-10 CD player must be operated on a

horizontal platform (see specifications for details)

such as a table or, preferably, specialized audio

furniture to extract the best performance. Like

fine turntables and interconnect cables, the final

location of the CDP-10 should be free of any

hum-inducing magnetic fields, such as those

caused by power amplifiers, AC line filters and

other regulation devices. Such locations can

introduce noise into an audio system, which

LOAD: Press this button once to open the disk

tray. Pressing it again will close the tray.

Pressing the desired track number on the

numeric keypad is usually faster than the

PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons. For example, if you

just inserted a disk and wish to play track 8,

pressing 8 followed by PLAY is easier than

pressing the NEXT button eight times, and then

PLAY.

The AC line input is located at the back of the

unit below the AC Power switch Connect the

supplied AC power cord to this input. As the

CAUTION section on the previous page indicates,

it is always a wise PRECAUTION to connect all

interconnect cables before attaching the AC

power cords.

STANDBY: Press this button to take the unit in

or out of STANDBY mode. Please note that this

button will only work if the back panel power

switch is ON.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure that the

operation voltage of the unit matches the AC

outlet voltage in your area. You will find the

operating voltage of your unit on the serial

number tag at the back of the CDP-10. Improper

voltage connection can severely damage your

CDP-10.

PREVIOUS (<): Pressed once during playback,

the CDP-10 will start playing the previous track.

Pressing it sequentially will cause the CDP-10 to

go back one track each time it is pressed. This

button is also used to select tracks to play and

program into memory.

REPEAT (On remote control only): Repeats the

whole disk, the programmed tracks or just the

single track being heard.

A-B (On remote control only): This function will

permit you to ‘loop’ a portion of a track when in

PLAY mode. When you have arrived at the

starting point of the desired loop, press the A-B

key once. When you have arrived at the end of

the desired portion of the loop, press the A-B key

again, the CDP-10 will then start playing this

portion.

NEXT (>): Each time this button is pressed, the

CDP-10 will advance one track i.e. press it twice

to advance two tracks, three for three tracks, etc.

If pressed during playback, the CDP-10 resumes

playing from the desired track. If pressed while

stopped, the CDP-10 will await further

Infrared (IR) Input and Output

The CDP-10 is equipped with 3.5mm mono-plug

connectors that allow the unit to directly receive

and transmit remote IR commands. These

connectors can be used with equipment that

receives IR commands and converts them for

transmission on copper wire. This is especially

useful for situations where the CDP-10 is outside

of the line-of-sight of your listening location.

These connections will be found to the right of

the fuse holder at the back of the unit.

DISPLAY (On remote control only): When pressed

once, the display will count upwards the total

time on the disc. If pressed once more, the

display will count backwards giving the total

remaining time on the disc. If pressed once

again, the display will return to its normal

STOP: Press this button to stop the CD from

playing.

PLAY: Press this button to start playback. If

pressed during playback the CDP-10 resumes

play from the start of the current track.

IR IN will permit you to install an outboard infra-

red sensor and therefore be able to control the

CDP-10 remotely from another room where the

outboard IR sensor has been installed.

PROG (On remote control only): Stores selected

tracks into memory for playback. Up to 20 tracks

can be stored into the memory of the CDP-10.

NOTE: The front panel display of the CDP-10 will

not show the ‘total time’ if more than 13 tracks

are programmed.

PAUSE: This button is used to pause the PLAY

function. To resume playback, press the PAUSE

key again.

IR OUT will permit you to communicate IR signals

to other Classé components. You will have to

install a 2 conductor shielded cable with 3.5mm

mini mono plugs at each end.

FORWARD (>>) AND REVERSE (<<) SEARCH:

The CDP-10 employs a convenient 2-speed

search. These buttons allow you to quickly search

through the disk in both directions. Press and

hold down the desired SEARCH button. The time

counter will approximately double in speed, and

the track heard will be reduced in volume. Once

the desired point is reached, release the SEARCH

button, playback will resume.

NOTE: There is no variable output on the

CDP-10.

DC Trigger

This connection is located is located directly to

the right of the IR IN connection near the fuse

holder at the back of the unit. This connection

will permit you to trigger on or off another unit

when the CDP-10 will be put out or in STANDBY

mode. The CDP-0 will output a 12 VDC trigger

when the unit is out of STANDBY. There will be

no voltage present when the CDP-10 is in

STANDBY mode. For this purpose you will need

to install a conductor shielded cable with 3.5mm

mini mono plugs at each end. Polarity should be

positive on the tip.

2. Display Information and Various Modes

of Operation

To insert a disk, press LOAD to open the CD tray.

Gently place the disk with the label side up on

the tray, and press LOAD again, the tray will

close, and several seconds later the display will

indicate the total number of tracks on the disk

with the total playing time. If the disk has not

been properly inserted, or is inserted upside

down, ‘NO DISC’ will appear on the display. Disks

with bad scratches, finger marks, pinholes, or

other severe manufacturing defects might also

not be useable.

If the SEARCH button is held for more than

4 seconds, the CDP-10 goes into a high-speed

search mode, and the time counter advances very

rapidly. During high-speed search, the volume is

completely muted.

NOTE: In addition to the function keys described

above (except for the POWER switch), these

other function keys are found on the remote

handset. For visual aid, refer to fig.2 page 15.

Please consult you Classé dealer regarding these

accessories.

STANDBY (On remote control and on the unit):

Use this key to put the CDP-10 in or out of

standby mode. Please note that this function will

only work if the back panel Power switch is ON.

Once the display confirms the number of tracks

and playing time, the CDP-10 is in STOP mode.

At this point, you can carry out several different

playback modes. Each is described in detail

below.

DISPLAY, FUNCTIONS AND

OPERATIONS

1. Functions

The front panel of the CDP-10 has nine buttons

that perform all the basic necessary functions.

The remote control contains all the basic

functions found on the front panel (except the

LOAD and POWER buttons) as well as all

advanced programming features.

SHUFFLE (On remote control only): Will access

and play the CD tracks randomly, in a different

order in which they were originally put on the

CD.

Playback from the beginning or from a

selected track

To play an entire disk from the beginning, press

PLAY. The CDP-10 will start playing in a few

seconds, and will play the entire disk. To play

from a desired track onwards, select the desired

track using the NEXT (>) and/or PREVIOUS (<)

buttons, or with the numeric keypad on the

remote control. Then press PLAY. The disk will

SCAN (On remote control only): This function will

play the first 10 seconds of each track of the CD.

Using Figure 1, the front panel controls are (from

left to right):

NUMERIC KEYPAD (digits 0 through 9)

(On remote control only): This is a convenient

play from that point on until the end of the disk.

While playing, the display will show each track

currently playing along with the elapsed time

from the beginning of that track. Once the disk

is over, the CDP-10 will return to STOP mode.

Power Supply

Digital Output

Inside, main power is provided by a custom,

encapsulated high-current toroidal transformer.

The power supply of the CDP-10 is generously

oversized to assure that regardless of how much

current is drawn, the circuitry will remain

unaffected by any fluctuations. Multiple stages

of regulation, 11 in total, are used in the power

supply, to assure the elimination of interference

caused by fluctuations often induced by heavy

current draw on shared supplies. The CDP-10

inherently has a low power consumption, but

micro-information is easily contaminated when

traditional power supplies clip due to their

inadequate output. This is the general idea

behind the high current, stable and fully

regulated supply that powers the CDP-10. All the

critical power supply and reference voltages are

bypassed by OSCON capacitors, specially chosen

for their very low electrical series resistance.

The CDP-10 has a single S/PDIF single-ended

digital output on a very high quality RCA

connector. An added advantage is that the

Isolated Master Clock is also responsible for re

clocking the S/PDIF output. This permits a very

low jitter digital output when the CDP-10 is used

as a digital source transport.

Playback of only selected tracks

You can program the CDP-10 to play any

combination of tracks on a disk, up to a

maximum of 20. Using the NEXT (>) and

PREVIOUS (<) buttons, or the numeric keypad,

find the first desired track on the display. Then

press the PROG button. Repeat this procedure

until all desired tracks have been stored. As each

track is being stored, the display indicates the

total playing time of all tracks currently

programmed. Please note that the front panel

display of the CDP-10 will not show the ‘total

time’ if more than 13 tracks are programmed.

Press PLAY. Playback will commence from the

first programmed track, and all programmed

tracks will play in the order they were stored.

Please note that:

HDCD Decoding and Oversampling

The CDP-10 features an HDCD decoder that, in

addition to allowing full HDCD decoding,

functions as a state of the art oversampling filter

if the input data is not encoded in HDCD format.

A PMD200 HDCD oversampling filter and HDCD

decoder is utilised for that matter. We feel that

this is amongst the best oversampling filters

available. It runs in 8X oversampling mode.

D/A Conversion (Pure Differential Cross

Balance)

Disk Transport

The CDP-10 utilises the latest generation D/A

converters from TI/Burr-Brown, the PCM1738,

which are stereo current-output D/A type

(24/192). Each output features a fully differential

push-pull output topology. For the CDP-10, we

have decided to use one stereo chip per channel.

The disk transport itself is the professional type

VAE1250 transport from Philips. This mechanism

is of the latest and newest generation design and

reliably reads all CDs and is also compatible with

CDR and CDRW. The VAE1250 is of very high

quality, and its outstanding construction using

highly efficient, long life motors assures excellent

long-term reliability.

Control Logic Servo Board

The control logic board of the CDP-10 enables

the various digital functions of the transport and

carries all the logical functions that are needed to

operate and initialise the CDP-10. To isolate this

board from the delicate audio processing circuits,

the control board has been located separately

from these circuits.

Playback using REPEAT

Pressing the REPEAT button will have the unit

repeating the entire disk. Once the REPEAT mode

is chosen, press PLAY.

Output Board

Jitter, also known as errors in the time domain, is

the prime factor in performance degradation,

and Classé has addressed this problem from

every perspective. The output board carries the

master clock, over sampling, digital filter D/A

converters and analogue output stage. The

original Philips transport has a crystal oscillator

directly on the servo board. Since the servo board

is actually a very noisy environment, and also

because the clock used for the transport is also

employed for the critical D/A conversion, we

have decided to remove the oscillator and

reposition it to a cleaner and quieter

Remote Handset

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

Another technical highlight of the CDP-10 is the

custom, solid aluminium remote handset. It

features an exceptionally wide transmission angle

to the IR receiver on the CDP-10, and is

engineered to last an extremely long time.

The Classé CDP-10 compact disk player is a high

quality unit utilizing the latest innovations in

digital audio reproduction. The philosophy

behind the CDP-10 is advanced technology for

extracting the maximum musical performance,

but also embraces the time proven idea of

simplicity, in accordance with the saying "simpler

is better."

FCC requirements

Great care has been used throughout the design

and layout of the CDP-10 to meet FCC class B

requirements. This will ensure that the CDP-10

will be insensitive to noisy components in a

system, and in turn will not cause harmful

interference to other components.

No effort has been spared in the development of

the CDP-10. The chassis is of exceptionally thick

gauge metal, and has been designed to resist

vibration through solid construction and proper

isolation from sources of vibration. The 3/8 inch

thick faceplate is a tribute to its construction and

aesthetics.

Le Classé CDP-10 est très soigneusement emballé

dans une coquille moulée semi-rigide, placée

dans un carton spécial. Pour sortir l’appareil,

ouvrez et repliez tous les rabats supérieurs du

carton, tirez l’ensemble appareil plus protection

interne et posez-le sur une surface plane. Ôtez le

sac plastique de protection et inspectez

soigneusement l’appareil pour repérer tout

dommage éventuel.

BRANCHEMENTS ET COMMANDES EN

FACE ARRIÈRE

d’allumer ou d’éteindre un autre appareil suivant

que le CDP-10 est lui-même mis en marche ou

placé en mode de veille. Lorsque le CDP-10 est

en marche, cette prise fournit une tension de

12 volts continus. Cette tension disparaît quand

le CDP-10 est placé en mode de veille Standby.

Pour utiliser cette fonction, vous devez installer

entre les prises Trigger un câble blindé spécial

terminé à chaque extrémité par des prises jack

3,5 mm. La polarité nécessite le « positif » sur la

pointe de la prise jack.

• Câble secteur détachable

Le lecteur de CD CDP-10 est équipé de sorties

analogiques au standard symétrique (BALANCED)

et asymétrique conventionnel (prise RCA). Le

branchement du CDP-10 à votre système requiert

donc une paire de câbles symétriques ou

asymétriques, et le câble secteur fourni. Le

CDP-10 est également équipé d’une prise de

sortie numérique directe au standard S/PDIF (prise

RCA) à relier éventuellement à l’entrée

2. Installation

AFFICHEUR, FONCTIONS ET

COMMANDES

Le lecteur de CD CDP-10 doit fonctionner sur

une surface horizontale, telle une table, ou mieux

un meuble Haute fidélité spécifique (voir les

spécifications pour le détail de l’encombrement

de l’appareil), permettant d’en tirer les meilleures

qualités. Comme pour tous les maillons de

hautes performances et leurs câbles de liaison,

cet endroit doit être exempt de parasites et

champs magnétiques, tels ceux générés par les

amplificateurs de puissance, filtres secteur ou

autres systèmes de régulation. De tels parasites

entraînent des dégradations sonores plus ou

moins audibles. De manière idéale, le CDP-10

doit être éloigné de quelques dizaines de

centimètres des autres maillons de l’installation.

De même, éloignez le plus possible les câbles de

liaison de modulation des câbles d’alimentation

secteur. Le CDP-10 génère très peu de chaleur.

L’espace nécessaire autour de lui pour une bonne

ventilation n’est donc pas critique.

1. Commandes

Remarque concernant les câbles de liaison

Les performances finales d’un lecteur de CD

peuvent considérablement varier en fonction de

la qualité et du type de câbles de liaison choisis.

Sélectionnez toujours des câbles réputés pour

leur performance, et également un câble de

liaison numérique, équipé également des

meilleures prises, si vous optez pour ce type de

connexion.

La face avant du CDP-10 possède neuf boutons

qui suffisent au fonctionnement de base. La

télécommande reprend ces fonctions (sauf les

touches LOAD (tiroir) et POWER (mise sous

tension), plus d’autres touches donnant accès à

des fonctions avancées.

En vous reportant à la Figure 1, les commandes

de la face avant sont (de gauche à droite) :

Entrée alimentation secteur

LOAD (chargement du disque) : Une pression

sur cette touche ouvre le tiroir du disque. Une

seconde pression le referme.

La prise d’alimentation secteur se trouve en face

arrière, à côté de l’interrupteur général. Branchez

le cordon fourni dans cette prise. Comme déjà

indiqué dans les mesures de précaution, il faut

toujours effectuer tous les autres branchements

avant de relier effectivement l’appareil au

secteur.

STANDBY (mise en veille) : Pressez cette

touche pour allumer ou éteindre (mise en veille)

l’appareil. Notez que cette touche n’a aucun

effet si l’appareil n’a pas été mis au préalable

sous tension générale via l’interrupteur de la face

arrière.

L’interrupteur de mise sous tension ON/OFF

(repéré POWER) se trouve sur la face arrière de

l’appareil, juste à côté de la prise secteur. Il y a

également une touche repérée "STANDBY"

placée directement au-dessous de l’afficheur. En

mode de veille STANDBY, le mécanisme général

est éteint, mais les circuits internes vitaux restent

sous tension afin de fournir les performances

musicales les meilleures possibles dès que

NOTE IMPORTANTE : Vérifiez que la tension

d’alimentation (indiquée sur une étiquette, près

de la prise) est bien conforme à celle de votre

installation électrique. Une tension inadaptée

peut endommager définitivement votre CDP-10.

PREVIOUS (<) (précédent) : Chaque pression

pendant la lecture entraîne le passage à la plage

précédemment choisie, avec avance à la plage

précédente à chaque nouvelle pression. Cette

touche est également utilisée pour mettre en

mémoire un programme de lecture.

Entrée et sortie infrarouge (IR)

Le CDP-10 est équipé de prises jack mono

3,5 mm qui permettent à l’appareil de recevoir et

d’envoyer directement les codes de transmission

infrarouge. Ces prises seront utilisées avec les

appareils émetteurs ou récepteurs

l’appareil est réactivé. En mode de veille Standby,

une diode LED s’allume. Cette diode est placée à

gauche de l’afficheur. Notez que l’appareil se met

en mode de fonctionnement total (et donc pas

en mode de veille Standby) lors de la première

mises en mémoire lors d’une programmation.

STOP : Pressez cette touche pour arrêter la

lecture.

situent à droite de la cartouche du fusible

ATTENTION : L’utilisation d’une masse

« flottante », ou l’absence de branchement

effectif de la terre peut être cause

d’électrocution. branchez toujours tous les cables

de liaison entre les différents maillons

électroniques avant de brancher les cables

secteur dans les prises murales. cela réduit les

risques potentiels d’électrocution.

PAUSE : Cette touche permet de stopper la

lecture. Pour redémarrer celle-ci, appuyez de

nouveau sur la touche PAUSE.

Prise de commutation DC trigger

Cette prise se trouve tout de suite à droite de la

prise repérée IR IN, près de la cartouche du

fusible en face arrière. Cette prise permet

FORWARD (>>) et REVERSE (<<) SEARCH

(recherche rapide en avant >> et en arrière

<<) : Le CDP-10 propose une recherche rapide

très pratique, à deux fois la vitesse normale. Ces

deux touches vous permettent donc de naviguer

rapidement sur le disque, dans les deux

directions. Pressez et maintenez la pression sur la

touche « SEARCH » désirée. Le compteur

accélère à approximativement deux fois sa vitesse

normale, et le volume de la plage en écoute est

volontairement réduit. Lorsque le point voulu est

atteint, relâchez la touche « SEARCH », et la

lecture redémarre normalement à partir de ce

point.

AFFICHEUR (sur la télécommande

uniquement) : lorsque pressée une première

fois, cette touche entraîne l'affichage de la durée

totale du disque. Une seconde pression sur

DISPLAY donne la durée totale de lecture

restante sur le disque. Une nouvelle pression sur

la touche permet de revenir à l'affichage normal.

Pressez la touche PLAY : la lecture démarre sur la

première plage mise en mémoire, puis toutes les

plages sont lues les unes derrière les autres, dans

l’ordre selon lequel elles ont été programmées.

Veuillez noter les points suivants :

PROG (programmation, sur la télécommande

uniquement) : Permet de mettre en mémoire les

plages sélectionnées pour leur programmation et

lecture combinée. Jusqu’à 20 plages peuvent être

mises simultanément en mémoire.

Si une des touches « SEARCH » est maintenue

pressée pendant plus de 4 secondes d’affilée, le

pouvez programmer la plage 2 après la plage

veille. Notez que cette touche n’a aucun effet si

• Si vous programmez une plage par erreur,

pressez la touche repérée CLEAR et cette plage

programmée sera effacée de la mémoire.

• Pour effacer toutes les plages mémorisées,

pressez la touche STOP deux fois de suite si le

CDP-10 est déjà en mode de lecture, ou une

seule fois s’il est à l’arrêt. Si vous souhaitez

changer de disque, le simple fait de demander

l’ouverture du tiroir stoppe la lecture et efface

intégralement la programmation en cours.

Pour insérer un disque, pressez la touche repérée

LOAD et le tiroir s’ouvre. Placez délicatement le

disque dans le tiroir, étiquette au-dessus, puis

pressez de nouveau la touche LOAD pour

refermer le tiroir. Quelques secondes plus tard,

l’afficheur indique le nombre total de plages

contenues sur le disque avec sa durée totale de

lecture. Si le disque n’a pas été correctement

inséré (par exemple avec l’étiquette vers le bas),

l’inscription « NO DISC » apparaît sur l’afficheur.

Des disques comportant des rayures, des trous

ou même des défauts de pressage peuvent aussi

s’avérer illisibles.

SHUFFLE (lecture aléatoire, sur la

télécommande uniquement) : Vous permet

d’accéder et de lire les plages du CD de manière

aléatoire, c’est-à-dire dans un ordre différent de

celui gravé sur le disque.

Lecture en mode de répétition REPEAT

En pressant la touche REPEAT, la lecture

reprendra indéfiniment sur le disque en entier.

Une fois le mode REPEAT choisi, pressez la

touche de lecture PLAY.

appareil de très haute qualité, utilisant les toutes

dernières innovations dans le domaine de la

reproduction audionumérique. La philosophie

ayant présidé à sa conception consiste à extraire

toutes les informations nécessaires à une

musicalité parfaite, mais en conservant une

grande simplicité d’utilisation, selon le principe

« le plus simple est toujours le meilleur ».

Rien n’a été négligé lors du développement du

CDP-10. Le châssis est entièrement métallique et

Sortie numérique

La sortie numérique proposée se fait via une prise

coaxiale RCA de très haute qualité au standard

S/PDIF. Un avantage supplémentaire concerne le

fait que le circuit IMC se charge également du

calibrage temporel de la sortie S/PDIF. Cela

permet de conserver un très faible jitter sur la

sortie numérique, lorsque le CDP-10 est utilisé

comme platine de transport numérique.

Télécommande

Un des derniers raffinements techniques du

CDP-10 est sa télécommande, réalisée à partir

d’un boîtier en aluminium massif. Elle fonctionne

selon un angle très large, et a été fabriquée pour

résister sans problème aux épreuves du temps.

très élevée, cela assure une reproduction parfaite

des micro-informations, ce qui n’est pas le cas si

l’alimentation fournit une sortie mal adaptée aux

demandes réelles de l’électronique. Voilà

pourquoi une alimentation à forte réserve de

courant et d’une stabilité parfaite a présidé à la

conception du CDP-10. Enfin, tous les circuits

critiques de cette alimentation et les tensions de

référence utilisent des condensateurs OSCON.

Respect des normes FCC

Décodeur HDCD et suréchantillonnage

Le CDP-10 intègre également un décodeur

HDCD, permettant le décodage supplémentaire

HDCD, avec suréchantillonnage 8 fois même sur

les disques codés normalement. Un filtre de

suréchantillonnage PMD200HDCD et le décodeur

HDCD proprement dit sont utilisés pour ce faire.

Nous pensons que ce sont les meilleurs filtres de

suréchantillonnage disponibles.

Le plus grand soin a été porté lors de la

conception et de la fabrication du CDP-10 afin

qu’il satisfasse parfaitement aux normes FCC

classe B. Cela lui garantit une parfaite

insensibilité aux composants éventuellement mal

isolés intégrés dans le système, et inversement

l’absence de pollution de sa part sur les autres

maillons.

Le mécanisme de transport

Le mécanisme de transport du disque est un

modèle professionnel Philips référence VAE1250.

haute qualité, et sa conception même, solidité de

tous les éléments et moteurs « longue durée de

Le CDP-10 utilise des convertisseurs numérique-

analogique de toute dernière génération,

d’origine TI/Burr-Brown, référence PCM1738, qui

sont de type stéréo à sortie en courant (24

bits/192 kHz). Chaque sortie présente une

topologie « push-pull » différentiel pur. Pour le

CDP-10, nous avons décidé d’utiliser un circuit

stéréo par canal. La sortie pur différentiel ne

permet pas seulement d’obtenir le meilleur signal

de sortie possible. Elle garantit une meilleure

séparation stéréophonique et des signaux audio

réellement symétriques. Nous n’utilisons ainsi pas

des sorties quasi-symétriques simplement

converties en sorties symétriques par étage

inverseur en sortie, comme on le trouve très

souvent sur les moins bonnes conceptions. Le

CDP-10 utilise huit convertisseurs de courant en

tension, quatre par canal. Les signaux sont

convertis en sortie symétrique dans tous les

étages suivants. L’utilisation de la technique

PDXP™ présente comme avantage sur les

conceptions symétriques classiques le fait qu’un

amplificateur double symétrique est capable de

tirer parti des différences entre les deux moitiés

du signal représentées par les points « chaud »

et « froid » du signal de sortie. Cela signifie que

les points « chaud » et « froid » réellement

présents sur les bornes de la prise XLR sont

effectivement dérivés des quatre étages de

conversion numérique/analogique.

Enfin, ce lecteur de CD ne nécessite pas de

réglages périodiques, l’alignement de la tête

restant constant même après de très nombreuses

heures d’utilisation.

Le 18 juillet 1996, tous les appareils du

constructeur Classé Audio ont reçu l’agrément

CE de la Communauté Européenne :

Certificat N° C401CLA1.MGS.

Circuit de servocontrôle logique

Le circuit de servocontrôle logique se charge de

toutes les fonctions numériques pour le transport

du disque, mais aussi de toutes les fonctions

logiques dont le CDP-10 a besoin pour son

initialisation et son fonctionnement. Afin d’isoler

cette carte des autres délicats circuits du

traitement purement audio, elle a été isolée et

fixée de manière indépendante.

Cet agrément prouve que votre appareil Classé a

subi les tests de qualité de fabrication et de

sécurité électrique les plus rigoureux au monde,

et satisfait ou excède les normes désormais

exigées dans tous les pays de la Communauté

Européenne.

Etage de sortie

La distorsion de jitter, également connue sous le

nom d’erreur par décalage temporel, est le

premier facteur de dégradation de la qualité

sonore. Classé a donc particulièrement traité ce

problème. La carte de sortie supporte l’horloge-

maître, le circuit de suréchantillonnage, les

convertisseurs numérique/analogique et leurs

filtres numériques, et l’étage de sortie

ANSCHLUSS AN DAS NETZ

Sicherheitshinweise

An der Geräterückseite ist der Netzschalter des

CDP-10 untergebracht, über den das Gerät ein-

und ausgeschaltet wird.

1. WASSER UND FEUCHTIGKEIT: Dieses Produkt

sollte nicht in der Nähe von Wasser benutzt

werden. Um Feuer oder einem Stromschlag

vorzubeugen, setzen Sie dieses Produkt weder

Regen noch Feuchtigkeit aus.

An der Gerätefront befindet sich direkt unter

dem Display die STANDBY-Taste. Im STANDBY-

Modus werden bestimmte Bereiche weiterhin mit

Strom versorgt, um mit dem Einschalten des

Gerätes sofort eine optimale Klangqualität

sicherzustellen. In diesem Modus leuchtet die

Status-LED. Sie befindet sich links neben dem

Display.

DIE CLASSÉ-PHILOSOPHIE

HINWEIS: Wird das Gerät über den Netzschalter

4. SERVICE: Öffnen Sie das Gerät auf keinen Fall.

Hörtests: Das entscheidende Element bei der

zugegriffen. Sie werden in einer anderen

Reihenfolge als der auf der CD vorgegebenen

wiedergegeben.

Netzeingang

Der Netzeingang befindet sich links an der

Rückseite des CDP-10. Verbinden Sie das

beiliegende Netzkabel mit diesem Eingang. Wie

Sie dem Abschnitt VORSICHT oben entnehmen

können, sollten Sie vor dem Netzkabel erst alle

Verbindungskabel anschließen.

STANDBY: Drücken Sie diese Taste, um das Gerät

in den Betriebszustand oder in den Standby-

Modus zu schalten. Bitte beachten Sie, dass diese

Taste nur funktionsbereit ist, wenn der

Netzschalter an der Geräterückseite gedrückt

wurde.

SCAN (nur auf der Fernbedienung): Bei dieser

Funktion werden die ersten 10 Sekunden jedes

Titels auf der CD gespielt.

WICHTIGER HINWEIS: Bevor Sie das Gerät in

Betrieb nehmen, prüfen Sie, ob die Betriebs-

spannung mit der örtlichen Netzspannung

übereinstimmt. Die Betriebsspannung ist an der

Rückseite des Gerätes angegeben.

ZIFFERNTASTEN (0 bis 9) (nur auf der

Fernbedienung): Die Zifferntasten sind eine

bequeme Alternative zu den Track-Tasten. Über

die Zifferntasten können die Titel in der Regel

schneller aufgerufen werden als über die Track-

Tasten. Haben Sie beispielsweise eine CD

eingelegt und möchten Sie Titel 8 spielen, so ist

das Drücken der Zifferntaste 8 gefolgt von PLAY

schneller durchgeführt als die rechte Track-Taste

achtmal hintereinander und anschließend die

PLAY-Taste zu drücken.

TRACK-Tasten (w und ∑): Wird die linke Track-

Taste w während der Wiedergabe einmal

gedrückt, startet der CDP-10 mit der Wiedergabe

des vorherigen Titels. Drücken Sie die Taste

mehrmals hintereinander, so springt der CDP-10

mit jedem Drücken um einen Titel zurück.

IR-Ein- und -Ausgänge

Der CDP-10 ist mit 3,5-mm-Minianschlüssen

bestückt, die es dem Gerät ermöglichen, IR-

Befehle zu empfangen und zu übertragen. Sie

befinden sich in der Nähe des Sicherungshalters

an der Geräterückseite und werden mit Geräten

genutzt, die Infrarotsignale empfangen können.

Mit jedem Drücken der rechten Track-Taste ∑

springt der CDP-10 um einen Titel weiter.

Drücken Sie zweimal, so springt das Gerät um

zwei Titel; drücken Sie dreimal, so springt das

Gerät um drei Titel usw. Wird die Taste während

der Wiedergabe gedrückt, beginnt der CDP-10

mit der Wiedergabe des gewünschten Titels.

Wird die Taste im Stoppmodus gedrückt, so ist

die Eingabe weiterer Befehle erforderlich.

REPEAT (nur auf der Fernbedienung): Sie

können die gesamte CD, programmierte Titel

oder nur einen einzigen Titel wiederholen.

IR IN ermöglicht die Installation eines externen

Infrarotempfängers. Damit besteht die

Möglichkeit, den CDP-10 von einem anderen

Raum aus fernzusteuern, in dem sich der externe

IR-Empfänger befindet.

Zum Anschluss benötigen Sie ein geschirmtes

Kabel mit 3,5-mm-Mini-Stecker an jedem Ende.

STOP: Drücken Sie diese Taste, um die Wieder-

gabe zu stoppen.

HINWEIS: Lassen Sie sich bezüglich des Zubehörs

von Ihrem Classé-Händler beraten.

PLAY: Drücken Sie diese Taste, um die

Wiedergabe zu starten. Wird diese Taste während

der Wiedergabe gedrückt, so beginnt der

CD-Player mit der Wiedergabe am Anfang des

gerade gespielten Titels.

DISPLAY (nur auf der Fernbedienung): Wird

die DISPLAY-Taste einmal gedrückt, wird die

Gesamtzeit auf der CD aufwärts gezählt. Wird

diese Taste ein weiteres Mal gedrückt, wird die

gesamte noch verbleibende Spieldauer auf der

CD rückwärts gezählt. Nach erneutem Drücken

der DISPLAY-Taste kehrt das Display zu seinem

normalen Anzeigemodus zurück.

12-V-Trigger

Dieser Anschluss befindet sich rechts neben den

IR-Anschlüssen in der Nähe des Sicherungshalters

an der Geräterückseite. Der 12-V-Trigger

ermöglicht das Ein- und Ausschalten eines

anderen Gerätes. Der CDP-10 sendet im

Betriebszustand ein 12-V-Triggersignal. Am 12-V-

Trigger-Anschluss liegt keine Spannung, wenn

sich das Gerät im Standby-Modus befindet oder

ausgeschaltet ist. Nutzen Sie für den Anschluss

ein geschirmtes Kabel mit 3,5-mm-Ministeckern

an jedem Ende.

PAUSE: Mit Drücken dieser Taste aktivieren Sie

den PAUSE-Modus. Um die Wiedergabe

fortzusetzen, müssen Sie die PAUSE-Taste noch

einmal drücken.

SEARCH-Tasten (<< und >>): Beim CDP-10

stehen für den Suchlauf zwei Geschwindigkeiten

zur Verfügung. Mit den Search-Tasten können Sie

die CD in beiden Richtungen durchsuchen.

Drücken Sie eine der Search-Tasten und halten

diese gedrückt. Die Suchgeschwindigkeit erhöht

sich nahezu auf das Doppelte. Der gerade

gespielte Titel ist mit reduzierter Lautstärke zu

hören. Ist der gewünschte Punkt erreicht, lassen

Sie die Search-Taste los. Die Wiedergabe wird

fortgesetzt.

PROG (nur auf der Fernbedienung):

Ausgewählte Titel können über die PROG-Taste

für die Wiedergabe gespeichert werden. Der

CDP-10 kann bis zu 20 Titel speichern.

ACHTUNG: Die Gesamtspieldauer wird nicht im

Frontdisplay des CDP-10 angezeigt, wenn mehr

als 13 Titel programmiert worden sind.

HINWEIS: Lassen Sie sich bezüglich des Zubehörs

von Ihrem Classé-Händler beraten.

DISPLAY, FUNKTIONEN UND BETRIEB

HINWEIS: Am CDP-10 gibt es keinen variablen

Control Logic Servo Board

Wiedergabe bei aktivierter REPEAT-Funktion

Haben Sie die REPEAT-Taste gedrückt, so

wiederholt das Gerät die gesamte CD. Haben Sie

den gewünschten REPEAT-Modus ausgewählt,

drücken Sie die PLAY-Taste.

Das Control Logic Servo Board des CDP-10 führt

die unterschiedlichen Digitalfunktionen des

Laufwerks und alle logischen Funktionen aus, die

für den Betrieb und das Initialisieren des CDP-10

erforderlich sind. Da die Schaltkreise für die

Audioverarbeitung sehr empfindlich sind, ist das

Control Board getrennt von ihnen untergebracht.

Bestätigt das Display die Anzahl der Titel und die

Spieldauer, befindet sich der CDP-10 im STOPP-

Modus. An diesem Punkt können Sie mehrere

verschiedene Wiedergabemodi aktivieren. Jeder

wird im Folgenden detailliert beschrieben.

Das REPEAT-Feature kann, wie oben beschrieben,

auch für die Wiedergabe gespeicherter Titel

genutzt werden.

Ausgangsplatine

Jitter, auch bekannt als Schwankungen der

Kennzeitpunkte eines Signals um den theoretisch

zu erwartenden Wert, ist der wesentliche Faktor

für die Beeinträchtigung der Klangqualität. Daher

hat Classé dieses Problem intensiv untersucht.

Von der Ausgangsplatine wird das Oversampling

durchgeführt. Auf diesem Board befinden sich

der Taktgenerator, Digitalfilter, D/A-Wandler und

die analoge Ausgangsstufe. Das Original-Philips-

Laufwerk hat direkt auf dem Servo Board einen

Kristalloszillator. Da das Servo Board selbst sehr

laut ist und da der für das Laufwerk genutzte

Taktgenerator auch für die D/A-Wandlung

genutzt wird, haben wir den Oszillator entfernt

und ihn in einer ruhigeren Umgebung in der

Nähe der D/A-Wandlerchips untergebracht. Die

Wandlerchips erhalten das Taktsignal nun von

der Ausgangsplatine. Das Ergebnis ist ein extrem

niedriger Jitter (< 2 Picosekunden).

TECHNISCHE BESCHREIBUNG

Wiedergabe vom Anfang der CD oder mit

einem ausgewählten Titel beginnend

Drücken Sie die PLAY-Taste, um die CD von

Anfang an zu spielen. Der CDP-10 beginnt

innerhalb weniger Sekunden mit der Wiedergabe

der gesamten CD. Möchten Sie die Wiedergabe

mit einem bestimmten Titel beginnen, wählen

Sie den Titel über die Track-Tasten oder über die

Zifferntasten der Fernbedienung aus. Drücken Sie

danach PLAY. Die CD wird von diesem Punkt an

bis zum Ende gespielt. Während der Wiedergabe

erscheint im Display jeder gerade gespielte Titel

zusammen mit der seit dem Anfang dieses Titels

vergangenen Zeit. Ist die CD bis zum Ende

wiedergegeben worden, schaltet der CDP-10 in

den STOPP-Modus.

Der Classé-CD-Player CDP-10 ist ein

ausgesprochen hochwertiges Gerät, das mit den

neuesten Innovationen der digitalen Audio-

Wiedergabe ausgestattet ist. Im CDP-10 werden

ausgeklügelte Technologien eingesetzt, um eine

erstklassige Musikwiedergabe zu gewährleisten.

Andererseits überzeugt dieser CD-Player aber

auch durch seine schlichte Eleganz, getreu dem

Motto „weniger ist mehr“.

Bei der Entwicklung des CDP-10 sind alle

Gesichtspunkte berücksichtigt worden. Das

Metallgehäuse ist äußerst stabil und daher

ausgezeichnet gegen Vibrationen geschützt.

Dazu passend ist auch die optisch ansprechende

Frontplatte massiv ausgeführt.

Wiedergabe nur ausgewählter Titel

Sie können den CDP-10 so programmieren, dass

die Titel in beliebiger Reihenfolge abgespielt

werden können. Maximal können 20 Titel

gespeichert werden. Wählen Sie den ersten Titel

über die Track-Tasten oder die Zifferntasten auf

der Fernbedienung. Die Nummer des Titels

erscheint im Display. Drücken Sie anschließend

die PROG-Taste. Wiederholen Sie diesen

Vorgang, bis alle gewünschten Titel gespeichert

sind. Da jeder Titel gespeichert wird, erscheint im

Display die Gesamtspieldauer aller derzeit

gespeicherten Titel. Beachten Sie, dass die

Gesamtspieldauer nicht im Frontdisplay des

CDP-10 angezeigt wird, wenn mehr als 13 Titel

programmiert worden sind. Drücken Sie die

PLAY-Taste. Die Wiedergabe beginnt mit dem

ersten gespeicherten Titel. Alle Titel werden in

der Reihenfolge wiedergegeben, in der sie

gespeichert worden sind. Bitte beachten Sie:

• Sie können nicht mehr als 20 Titel speichern.

• Während der Programmwiedergabe können die

Zifferntasten nicht genutzt werden. Nutzen Sie

die TRACK-Tasten, um die Titeleingabe zu

ändern.

Netzteil

Digitalausgang

Im Gerät befindet sich ein speziell gefertigter,

vergossener Ringkerntransformator. Das

leistungsstarke Netzteil des CDP-10 besitzt eine

hohe Stromlieferfähigkeit, so dass auch im Falle

von Stromschwankungen jederzeit eine stabile

Stromversorgung gewährleistet ist. Im Netzteil

befinden sich insgesamt 11 getrennte

Der CDP-10 benötigt an sich nur wenig Strom,

In den CDP-10 ist ein HDCD-Decoder integriert,

der einerseits die HDCD-Decodierung ermöglicht,

andererseits aber auch als Oversampling-Filter

dient, wenn die Eingangsdaten nicht im HDCD-

Format encodiert sind. Zu diesem Zweck wird das

PMD200 – eines der besten derzeit auf dem

Markt erhältlichen Oversamling-Filter – für das

Oversampling (im 8fach Oversampling-Modus)

und zur HDCD-Decodierung eingesetzt.

Stromlieferfähigkeit so wichtig. An allen

kritischen Stellen werden OSCON-Kondensatoren

(Aluminium-Elkos mit einem besonderen

Elektrolyt) eingesetzt, die speziell aufgrund ihres

ermöglicht bei einer Wechselstrombelastbarkeit

bis zu einigen Ampere extrem niedrige

Impedanzen.

D/A-Wandler (Pure Differential Cross

Balance)

cables de red. El calor generado por el CDP-10 es

La salida IR OUT le permitirá enviar señales de

infrarrojos a otros componentes Classé. Para ello

deberá instalar un cable apantallado de 2

conductores terminado con miniclavijas

monofónicas de 3’5 mm en cada uno de sus

extremos.

FUNCIONES Y CONEXIONES DEL

máximo las posibilidades del Classé CDP-10.

También se recomienda un cable coaxial de alta

calidad para interconexión digital si piensa

utilizar la salida digital del CDP-10

CONEXIÓN A LA RED ELÉCTRICA

El conmutador de PUESTA EN MARCHA (ON/OFF)

del CDP-10 se encuentra situado en la parte

también un botón STANDBY (POSICIÓN DE

1. Funciones

Entrada de Corriente Alterna

El panel frontal del CDP-10 tiene nueve botones

que se encargan de gestionar todas las funciones

básicas que sea necesario. Por su parte, el

mando a distancia contiene todas las funciones

básicas que figuran en el panel frontal (la

excepción son los botones LOAD y POWER) del

aparato, así como todas las funciones de

programación avanzadas.

La entrada de corriente eléctrica alterna está

ubicada en la parte posterior del aparato justo

debajo del conmutador de puesta en marcha.

Conecte el cable de alimentación suministrado

de serie a esta entrada. A modo de

componentes electrónicos internos más

importantes se mantienen activos para garantizar

unas perfectas prestaciones musicales tan pronto

el aparato sea puesto nuevamente en marcha.

Cuando se esté en el modo STANDBY, se activará

un indicador luminoso –situado en la parte

izquierda del visualizador de funciones– para

confirmarlo. Observe que cuando sea puesto en

marcha por primera vez con el conmutador de su

panel posterior, el CDP-10 se situará

PRECAUCIÓN, siempre es recomendable conectar

todos los cables de interconexión antes de

proceder a la instalación de los de alimentación.

NOTA IMPORTANTE: Asegúrese de que la

tensión eléctrica de funcionamiento del aparato

concuerde con la de su red eléctrica local. Para

ello deberá buscar la tensión de funcionamiento

de su CDP-10 en la etiqueta con el número de

serie que hay en el panel posterior del aparato.

Una conexión inadecuada en este sentido puede

dañar seriamente su CDP-10.

Tomando como referencia la Figura 1, los

controles del panel frontal son, de izquierda a

derecha, los siguientes:

lectura de la pista anterior. Si se pulsa de manera

secuencial, hará que el CDP-10 retroceda una

pista cada vez que sea pulsado. Este botón

también se utiliza para seleccionar pistas a

reproducir y programarlas en la memoria del

CDP-10.

TECLADO NUMÉRICO (dígitos de 0 a 9) (sólo en

el mando a distancia): Es una alternativa muy

cómoda a los botones PREVIOUS y NEXT ya que

pulsar el número de pista deseado en el teclado

numérico es generalmente más rápido que pulsar

los botones NEXT y PREVIOUS. Por ejemplo, si

usted acaba de colocar un disco en la bandeja de

transporte y desea reproducir la pista 8, siempre

es más fácil pulsar 8 seguido de PLAY que pulsar

NEXT ocho veces y a continuación pulsar PLAY.

Una vez que el visualizador de funciones haya

confirmado el número de pistas y el tiempo total

de reproducción, el CDP-10 se situará en su

Reproducción desde el principio o desde una

se pulsa durante la lectura, el CDP-10 reiniciará

la reproducción en la pista deseada. Si se pulsa

con el aparato parado, este último esperará

nuevas órdenes de control. Este botón también

se utiliza para seleccionar pistas a reproducir y

programarlas en la memoria del CDP-10.

Para leer un disco entero desde el principio, pulse

PLAY. El CDP-10 iniciará la lectura al cabo de

unos pocos segundos y leerá la totalidad del

disco. Para iniciar la lectura desde una

determinada pista, seleccione esta última

utilizando los botones NEXT (>) o PREVIOUS (<) o

el teclado numérico del mando a distancia. A

continuación pulse PLAY. El disco será leído

desde este punto hasta su final. Durante la

lectura, el visualizador de funciones mostrará la

pista que se esté reproduciendo junto con el

tiempo transcurrido de la misma. Una vez

finalizada la lectura del disco, el CDP-10

regresará al modo STOP.

REPEAT (sólo en el mando a distancia): Repite la

totalidad del disco, las pistas programadas o

simplemente la pista que está siendo escuchada.

A-B (sólo en el mando a distancia): Esta función

le permitirá repetir de forma indefinida (creando

un bucle cerrado) una porción de una pista

mientras esté en el modo PLAY. Cuando haya

llegado al punto de inicio del bucle deseado,

pulse una sola vez la tecla A-B. Cuando haya

llegado al final del bucle, pulse de nuevo la tecla

A-B una sola vez. A continuación, el

STOP: Pulse este botón para detener la lectura

de un CD.

PLAY: Pulse este botón para iniciar la lectura. Si

se pulsa durante la lectura, el CDP-10 reiniciará

la reproducción en la pista deseada.

CDP-10 empezará a reproducir la porción

seleccionada.

Reproducción de pistas seleccionadas

Usted puede programar el CDP-10 para que

–hasta un máximo de 20– de un determinado

la lectura, pulse de nuevo la tecla PAUSE.

BUSQUEDA EN SENTIDO DIRECTO (>>) E

INVERSO (<<): El CDP-10 incorpora un cómodo

sistema de búsqueda de 2 velocidades. Estos

botones le permitirán buscar rápidamente y en

las dos direcciones posibles a través del disco.

Pulse y mantenga pulsado el botón SEARCH

deseado. El contador de tiempo doblará

visualizador de funciones contará en sentido

descendente mostrando el tiempo total restante

2. Modos de Funcionamiento Disponibles e

Información Suministrada por el Visualizador

de Funciones

Para cargar un disco, pulse LOAD para abrir la

bandeja de transporte. Coloque suavemente el

disco en la bandeja con la cara de la etiqueta

orientada hacia arriba y pulse LOAD de nuevo; la

bandeja de transporte se cerrará y unos segundos

después el visualizador de funciones indicará el

número total de pistas contenidas en el disco y la

duración total de las mismas. Si el disco no ha

sido adecuadamente colocado o ha sido colocado

con la cara de la etiqueta orientada hacia abajo,

aparecerá "NO DISC" en el visualizador de

funciones. Es posible que algunos discos con

rayaduras profundas, que estén agujereados o

que contengan otros defectos de frabricación

graves tampoco sean aceptados por el CDP-10.

• Las pistas programadas no tienen por qué estar

en orden numérico ascendente; por ejemplo,

usted puede programar que la pista 2 se

reproduzca después de la 6.

STANDBY (en el mando distancia y en el

utiliza las innovaciones más avanzadas en el

campo de la reproducción digital de señales de

audio. La filosofía que hay detrás del CDP-10 se

fundamenta en el empleo de la tecnología más

avanzada del momento para obtener las más

altas prestaciones de audio posibles y a la vez

adopta la demostrada validez de la simplicidad

en sintonía con el popular dicho "más simple

significa mejor".

Placa de Servocircuitos de Control

ya que un doble amplificador balanceado toma

la diferencia entre las "señales mitad"

La placa de control lógico del CDP-10 activa las

diferentes funciones digitales del mecanismo de

transporte e incorpora los circuitos responsables

de las funciones lógicas necesarias para gobernar

e inicializar el aparato. Para aislar esta placa de

circuito impreso de los delicados circuitos

encargados de procesar las señales de audio, se

ha montado en una ubicación independiente.

No se han escatimado esfuerzos en el desarrollo

del CDP-10. El chasis del aparato está constituido

en su totalidad por placas de metal de gran

grosor y ha sido diseñado para resistir todo tipo

de vibraciones gracias a una construcción de

gran solidez y a un adecuado aislamiento de las

fuentes de vibración. El panel frontal de casi 1

centímetro de grosor constituye un claro tributo

a la calidad constructiva y estética del aparato.

Placa de Salida

La placa de circuito impreso de salida alberga el

reloj maestro, los circuitos de sobremuestreo, el

filtro digital, los convertidores D/A y la etapa de

salida analógica. La mecánica de transporte

Philips original incluye un oscilador de cristal de

cuarzo montado directamente en la placa de

servocontrol; puesto que en realidad dicha placa

constituye un ambiente extremadamente ruidoso

y al ser el reloj empleado en el transporte

Salida Digital

El CDP-10 incorpora una única salida digital en el

formato S/PDIF (eléctrica) que utiliza un conector

RCA. Una ventaja añadida es que el Reloj

"jitter" muy bajo cuando el CDP-10 es utilizado

Descodificación HDCD y Sobremuestreo

El CDP-10 incorpora un descodificador HDCD

("High Definition Compatible Digital") que,

además de facilitar la decodificación de discos

compactos codificados en dicho sistema,

funciona como un filtro digital de última

generación si los datos procesados no están

codificados en HDCD. Para ello se utiliza un

descodificador HDCD con filtro de sobremuestreo

incorporado PMD200. En nuestra opinión, se

trata uno de los mejores filtros de su clase

disponibles, siendo la tasa de sobremuestreo

aplicada de orden 8.

Cada CDP-10 ha sido sometido a rigurosas

pruebas llevadas a cabo mediante ordenador

para medir cada uno de sus parámetros críticos y

ha sido evaluado durante varios días para

garantizar la consistencia de sus prestaciones a

largo plazo. Antes de abandonar la factoría de

Classé Audio, cada CDP-10 ha tenido que

superar no menos de 100 pruebas

seleccionados por su bajísima resistencia eléctrica

serie.

ΤΡꢀΦꢀ∆ꢀΣΙΑ ΡΕΥΜΑΤꢀΣ

Εκτ1ς απ1 τις τυπικές αναλꢁγικές υπꢁδꢁꢀές

ε21δꢁυ RCA, τꢁ CDP-10 διαθέτει και ένα

-εύγꢁς αναλꢁγικών ε21δων τύπꢁυ XLR

(BALANCED), τις ꢁπꢁίες είναι πρꢁτιµ1τερꢁ

να ꢀρησιµꢁπꢁιήσετε (αντί για τις ε21δꢁυς

RCA), αν ꢁ πρꢁενισꢀυτής ή ꢁ

D γενικ1ς διακ1πτης λειτꢁυργίας (POWER)

τꢁυ CDP-10 6ρίσκεται στην πίσω πλευρά

τꢁυ, δίπλα στην υπꢁδꢁꢀή σύνδεσης τꢁυ

καλωδίꢁυ τρꢁ*ꢁδꢁσίας. Υπάρꢀει επίσης και

ένα πλήκτρꢁ αναµꢁνής λειτꢁυργίας

6. ΜΗΝ ΑΦΑΙΡΕΣΕΤΕ ΤD ΕΠΑΝΩ ΚΑΛΥΜΜΑ

ΤΗΣ ΣΥΣΚΕΥΗΣ ΣΕ ΚΑΜΙΑ ΠΕΡΙΠΤΩΣΗ, και

ιδίως 1ταν η συσκευή είναι στην πρί-α ή/και

σε λειτꢁυργία. Αν κάνετε κάτι τέτꢁιꢁ

υπάρꢀει σꢁ6αρ1ς κίνδυνꢁς

ꢁλꢁκληρωµένꢁς ενισꢀυτής σας έꢀει

αντίστꢁιꢀες εισ1δꢁυς. Για να συνδέσετε τꢁ

CDP-10 στꢁν ενισꢀυτή ꢀρειά-εστε ένα διπλ1

καλώδιꢁ µετα*ꢁράς ηꢀητικꢁύ σήµατꢁς (ή

ένα -εύγꢁς µꢁνών καλωδίων) µε 6ύσµατα

RCA ή XLR.

(STANDBY) πꢁυ 6ρίσκεται στην εµπρ1σθια

1ψη της συσκευής, ακρι6ώς κάτω απ1 την

ꢁθ1νη. Α*ꢁύ ενεργꢁπꢁιήσετε τη συσκευή

(συγκεκριµένα α*ꢁύ της δώσετε ρεύµα)

απ1 τꢁ γενικ1 διακ1πτη της πίσω πλευράς,

µπꢁρείτε στη συνέꢀεια να την θέτετε σε

λειτꢁυργία και σε αναµꢁνή λειτꢁυργίας µε

τꢁ πλήκτρꢁ STANDBY. Κατά την αναµꢁνή

λειτꢁυργίας, ꢁ µηꢀανισµ1ς τꢁυ CD player

είναι ανενεργ1ς αλλά κάπꢁια σηµαντικά

ε2αρτήµατά τꢁυ συνεꢀί-ꢁυν να έꢀꢁυν

ρεύµα, έτσι ώστε µ1λις τꢁ ενεργꢁπꢁιήσετε

πάλι να λειτꢁυργήσꢁυν αµέσως στꢁ πλήρες

RIGHT") να συνδεθεί στην αντίστꢁιꢀη

Η εσωτερική συσκευασία τꢁυ CDP-10 είναι

απ1 ένα ηµι-συµπαγές α*ρώδες υλικ1

υψηλής πυκν1τητας, ενώ η ε2ωτερική τꢁυ

συσκευασία είναι ένα ειδικά σꢀεδιασµένꢁ

ꢀαρτꢁκι6ώτιꢁ. Για να 6γάλετε τꢁ CD player

απ1 τη συσκευασία, ανꢁί2τε εντελώς τα

επάνω *ύλλα τꢁυ ꢀαρτꢁκι6ωτίꢁυ, και

α*αιρέστε τꢁ επάνω τµήµα της εσωτερικής

συσκευασίας. Στη συνέꢀεια 6γάλτε τη

συσκευή και τα παρελκ1µενα και

Α*αιρέστε την πλαστική συσκευασία και

ΠΡꢀΣꢀꢁΗ: Βε6αιωθείτε 1τι η πρί-α πꢁυ θα

συνδέσετε τꢁ CDP-10 έꢀει τα ίδια

απενεργꢁπꢁιείται πλέꢁν, ταυτ1ꢀρꢁνα µε τꢁ

CDP-10. Τꢁ σήµα ενεργꢁπꢁίησης θα

στέλνεται 1ταν τꢁ CDP-10 είναι σε πλήρη

λειτꢁυργία και θα διακ1πτεται 1ταν είναι σε

αναµꢁνή λειτꢁυργίας (για περισσ1τερες

λεπτꢁµέρειες σꢀετικά µε αυτή τη σύνδεση

απευθυνθείτε στꢁ κατάστηµα απ1 1πꢁυ

De netschakelaar (POWER) bevindt zich links op

Enkelvoudige schakeling

Om dat te bereiken maken we gebruik van

zorgvuldig geoptimaliseerde versies van dezelfde

basisschakeling die precies aan de specifieke

eisen wordt aangepast. Dat betekent dat alle

Classé componenten profiteren van alle

vooruitgang die wordt gemaakt in de

elektronica. Maar dat is nog niet alles.

6. MAAK HET APPARAAT NOOIT OPEN wanneer

het met het lichtnet is verbonden. Voorkom dat

vreemde voorwerpen in het apparaat terecht

komen; dat kan grote schade veroorzaken. Ook

kan de speler dan onzichtbaar laserlicht lekken.

Vermijd direct oogcontact met de laserstraal.

WAARSCHUWING: Neem de stekker uit het

stopcontact wanneer u iets aan de verbindingen

verandert. Maak alle verbindingen voordat u de

stekker in het stopcontact steekt. Zo wordt de

kans op ongelukken en schade verminderd.

Luisteren: een kritisch ontwerpelement

Zodra de algemene uitgangspunten voor een

schakeling zijn vastgesteld wordt zorgvuldig

geluisterd naar de toepassing van verschillende

onderdelen, zo worden transistoren,

De Classé CDP-10 CD-speler is zorgvuldig

verpakt in zwaar plastic, beschermd door

piepschuim schalen, het geheel in een speciale

doos. Verwijder de plastic bescherming en

controleer het apparaat op eventuele

beschadigingen. Rapporteer schade direct aan

uw leverancier.

AANSLUITINGEN & FUNCTIES

De CDP-10 compact disc speler is voorzien van

zowel symmetrische (balanced) als normale cinch

(asymmetrisch) aansluitingen. Voor het aansluiten

van de CDP-10 op uw audiosysteem heeft u

daarom een paar symmetrische of een normale

cinch stereokabel nodig, naast het bijgeleverde

netsnoer. Verder is de CDP-10 uitgerust met een

S/PDIF data output aansluiting. Om deze uitgang

te gebruiken heeft u een normale digitale kabel

nodig en een S/PDIF ingang op uw digitale

processor. Zie afb. 1 op pagina 14.

voor optimale prestaties van de Classé CDP-10.

Tevens wordt een hoogwaardige interconnect

aanbevolen voor de digitale uitgang van de

CDP-10.

Meld elke schade of het ontbreken van een of

ander direct aan uw leverancier en overhandig

Plaats de CDP-10 CD-speler op een horizontale

details) op een tafel of, voor optimale prestaties,

Lichtnetaansluiting

De lichtnetaansluiting is gemonteerd op de

achterzijde van het apparaat onder de

netschakelaar. Sluit het netsnoer hierop aan.

Zoals in de waarschuwingen op de voorgaande

pagina al werd gesteld, is het belangrijk alle

onderlinge verbindingen te maken alvorens de

stekker in het stopcontact te steken.

nummer te laten gaan. Door meermaals op deze

toets te drukken gaat de speler even zovele

nummers terug. Deze toets wordt ook gebruikt

voor het programmeren van nummers in het

geheugen.

REPEAT (alleen op de afstandsbediening):

herhaalt de gehele disc, het programma of het

lopende nummer.

A-B (alleen op de afstandsbediening): hiermee

kunt u een bepaalde passage vanuit weergave

voortdurend herhalen. Druk eenmaal op A-B

zodra het gewenste startpunt is bereikt. Druk

nogmaals op A-B wanneer het gewenste

eindpunt is bereikt. De CDP-10 zal nu het

gekozen fragment steeds opnieuw herhalen.

Infrarood (IR) in- en uitgang

De CDP-10 is uitgerust met 3,5 mm jackpluggen

voor het ontvangen en wegsturen van signalen

van een IR afstandsbediening. Deze aansluitingen

kunnen gebruikt worden met apparatuur die IR

signalen kunnen ontvangen en omzetten voor

transport via een kabel. Dit is vooral handig in

situaties waarin de CDP-10 uit zicht van de

luisterpositie staat opgesteld. U vindt de

aansluitingen rechts naast de zekeringhouder op

de achterzijde.

VOLGEND > : eenmaal indrukken tijdens

afspelen om de CDP-10 naar het volgende

nummer te laten gaan. Door meermaals op deze

toets te drukken gaat de speler even zovele

nummers verder. Deze toets wordt ook gebruikt

voor het programmeren van nummers in het

geheugen. Vanuit stop wacht de speler op

nadere instructie: weergave of opslaan.

DISPLAY (alleen op de afstandsbediening):

eenmaal indrukken voor de verstreken tijd van de

disc. Nogmaals indrukken voor de resterende tijd

van de disc. Een derde maal indrukken om naar

de normale functie terug te keren.

Via IR IN kan een externe infrarood sensor

worden geïnstalleerd om de CDP-10 bijvoorbeeld

vanuit een andere kamer te besturen, waar de IR

sensor is gemonteerd.

STOP: Indrukken om het afspelen te stoppen.

PROG (alleen op de afstandsbediening):

totaaltijd niet aangeven wanneer meer dan

13 nummers zijn geprogrammeerd.

PAUSE: indrukken om de weergave tijdelijk te

onderbreken. Om de weergave vanaf hetzelfde

punt te vervolgen nogmaals indrukken.

DC Trigger

OPMERKING: de CDP-10 heeft geen regelbare

Deze aansluiting is direct naast de IR IN

aansluiting geplaatst, nabij de zekeringhouder op

de achterzijde van het apparaat. Via deze

aansluiting kan een ander apparaat in- of

uitgeschakeld worden zodra de CDP-10 wordt

ingeschakeld, resp. in standby wordt gezet. De

CDP-10 geeft een 12 V DC triggersignaal af

zodra de CDP-10 uit standby komt. Gebruik

hiervoor een enkele afgeschermde kabel met aan

beide einden een mono 3,5 mm jackplug. De top

van de plug is de pluspool.

VOORUIT (>>) – ACHTERUIT (<<) ZOEKEN:

de CDP-10 heeft een gemakkelijke zoekfunctie

met twee snelheden en met deze beide toetsen

kan zowel voor- als achteruit worden gezocht.

Houd daarvoor de toets voor de gewenste

richting ingedrukt. De weergave verloopt dan

ongeveer op dubbele snelheid op gereduceerd

niveau. Is het gewenste punt bereikt laat de toets

dan los en de weergave wordt vervolgd.

Houdt u de zoektoets langer dan 4 seconden

vast dan gaat de CDP-10 sneller zoeken. Tijdens

zoeken op hoge snelheid is de weergave geheel

uitgeschakeld.

2. Display Indicaties & Bediening

Druk op LOAD om de lade te openen een disc in

te leggen. Leg de disc met het etiket naar boven

in de lade en druk nogmaals op LOAD om de

lade te sluiten. Een paar seconden later geeft de

display het totaal aantal nummers en de

totaaltijd aan. Wanneer de disc niet correct is

ingelegd, of ondersteboven, geeft de display no

dISC aan. Een disc met ernstige beschadigingen

of vlekken kan eveneens worden geweigerd.

Raadpleeg op dit punt zonodig uw leverancier.

OPMERKING: naast de hiervoor genoemde

functies biedt de afstandsbediening van de

CDP-10 nog de volgende extra functies (afb. 2).

Op het moment dat de display het aantal

nummers en de speelduur aangeeft staat de

speler op STOP; op dat moment kan uit

Elke functie wordt hieronder in detail beschreven.

1. Bedieningsorganen

STANDBY (op de afstandsbediening en op de

voorzijde): indrukken om het apparaat in standby

te zetten of in te schakelen. Werkt alleen

wanneer de netschakelaar op de achterzijde op

ON (aan) staat.

Op het frontpaneel van de CDP-10 bevinden zich

negen toetsen die de basisfuncties besturen. De

afstandsbediening bevat alle functies van het

frontpaneel (behalve laden en de netschakelaar),

plus een paar bijzondere functies.

Weergave vanaf het begin of vanaf een

bepaald nummer

Om de gehele disc vanaf het begin af te spelen

drukt u op PLAY, waarop de speler na een paar

seconden start en de disc tot het einde afspeelt.

Om het afspelen vanaf een bepaald nummer af

te spelen kiest u dat nummer met VOLGENDE >

of < VORIGE, dan wel met de cijfertoetsen op de

afstandsbediening en u drukt op PLAY. De speler

start dan bij het gekozen nummer en speelt tot

het einde. Tijdens het afspelen geeft de display

de verstreken tijd vanaf het begin van elk

nummer aan, tenzij een andere displayfunctie is

gekozen. Aan het einde van de disc stopt de

speler automatisch.

SHUFFLE (alleen op de afstandsbediening):

speelt de nummers van de CD in willekeurige

volgorde af.

In afb. 1 ziet u het frontpaneel met van links

naar rechts de volgende functies:

LOAD: indrukken om de lade te openen;

nogmaals indrukken om te sluiten.

SCAN (alleen op de afstandsbediening): speelt

van alle nummers op de CD alleen de eerste 10

seconden.

POWER: indrukken om in te schakelen;

nogmaals indrukken om weer uit te schakelen.

Deze schakelaar bevindt zich op de achterzijde

van de speler.

CIJFERTOETSEN (0 – 9 – alleen op de

afstandsbediening): een praktisch alternatief voor

de toetsen VOORGAAND en VOLGEND, omdat

de cijfertoetsen meestal sneller werken. Leg een

disc in en druk om nummer 8 af te spelen

simpelweg op 8 en op PLAY. Anders zou u negen

maal op VOLGEND moeten drukken en dan op

PLAY.

STANDBY: indrukken om het apparaat in

standby te zetten of in te schakelen. Werkt alleen

wanneer de netschakelaar op de achterzijde op

ON (aan) staat.

Weergave van bepaalde nummers

De CDP-10 kan geprogrammeerd worden om

elke combinatie van nummers op een disc

automatisch af te spelen, maximaal 20. Vanuit

STOP wordt met VOLGENDE > en < VORIGE of

de cijfertoetsen een nummer gekozen, dat in het

geheugen wordt opgeslagen door op PROG te

drukken. Herhaal dat tot alle gewenste nummers

Het toegepaste loopwerk is het professionele

VAE1250 van Philips, Een loopwerk van de

nieuwste generatie en betrouwbaar alle CD’s

leest en tevens geschikt is voor CDR en CDRW.

De VAE1250 is van bijzonder hoge kwaliteit en

zeer efficiënt: de aandrijving heeft een lange

levensduur en is uitermate betrouwbaar.

Daarnaast is de compact disc speler zo

ontwikkeld dat regelmatige afregeling

achterwege kan blijven, terwijl deze toch op

langere termijn exact op specificatie blijft.

De CDP-10 heeft de nieuwste generatie D/A

converters van TI/Burr-Brown, de PCM 1738, met

een stereo stroomuitgang D/A type (24/192).

Elke uitgang bezit een volledig differentiale push-

pull uitgangsconfiguratie. Voor de CDP-10

hebben we gekozen voor één stereo chip per

kanaal. De volledige differentiaal uitgang wordt

slechts voor de helft van het signaal gebruikt. Dit

geeft een betere stereo kanaalscheiding en

perfect symmetrische audiosignalen. Wij

gebruiken geen quasi symmetrische uitgangen

afkomstig van een asymmetrisch signaal dat naar

symmetrisch wordt omgezet met een

Herhaalfunctie (REPEAT)

Uitgangen

Jitter is een verschijnsel dat het gevolg is van

fouten in het tijddomein, en een van de

belangrijkste oorzaken van verminderde

signaalkwaliteit en is door Classé van alle

denkbare zijden benaderd. De uitgangsprint

bevat de master klok, de oversampling, het

digitale filter D/A converters en de analoge

uitgangen. Het oorspronkelijke Philips loopwerk

heeft een kristal oscillator direct op de

servoprint. Daar deze servoprint nogal sterke

stoorsignalen afgeeft en bovendien deze klok

voor het transport ook wordt gebruikt voor de

kritische D/A conversie, hebben besloten deze

oscillator elders onder te brengen om een

schoner en rustiger omgeving te zoeken, dichtbij

de D/A converter chips. De converter chips

ontvangen het kloksignaal nu van de

TECHNISCHE BESCHRIJVING

De Classé CDP-10 compact disc speler is een

muziekweergave, maar wil de realisatie ervan

ook eenvoudig houden: ‘eenvoud is kenmerk van

het ware’.

Afstandsbediening

Een andere bijzonderheid van de CDP-10 is de

speciale, van massief aluminium gemaakte

afstandsbediening. De zender heeft een zeer

ruime openingshoek naar de CDP-10 en is

gemaakt voor een bijzonder lange levensduur.

Geen enkele moeite is gespaard bij de

ontwikkeling van de CDP-10: het chassis is van

uitzonderlijk dik metaal en is zo ontwikkeld dat

de zware constructie en de grondige isolatie alle

trillingen buiten houdt. De 10 mm dikke

frontplaat draagt daar ook aan bij èn aan het

fraaie uiterlijk.

FCC eisen

Veel zorg is ook besteed aan de opzet en de lay-

out van de CDP-10 om te voldoen aan de

Amerikaanse FCC klasse B regulering. Die zorgt

ervoor dat de CDP-10 ongevoelig is voor

instraling van buitenaf en op zijn beurt geen

instraling op andere apparaten veroorzaakt.

Digitale uitgang

De CDP-10 heeft een S/PDIF single end digitale

uitgang op een zeer hoogwaardige cinch

aansluiting. Een extra voordeel is dan de Isolated

Master Clock tevens verantwoordelijk is voor het

herijken van de klok in de S/PDIF uitgang. Dit

levert een digitale uitgang met zeer geringe jitter

wanneer de CDP-10 wordt gebruikt als digitaal

loopwerk.

Voeding

De voeding is opgebouwd rond een speciale

gefabriceerde toroïdale transformator en is

ruimschoot overbemeten, zodat de schakelingen

ongeacht de gevraagde stroom op geen enkele

manier in hun werking belemmerd worden.

Meerdere spanningsregelingen – 11 in totaal –

worden gebruikt om interne interferentie tegen

te gaan, die vaak ontstaan door hoge belasting

op een gemeenschappelijke voeding. De CDP-10

neemt slechts weinig stroom op, maar ook op

laag niveau is ongewenste overdracht van

stoorsignalen mogelijk, zeker bij overbelasting

van te krap bemeten conventionele voedingen.

Dit alles verklaart waarom de voeding van de

CDP-10 fors en stabiel is uitgevoerd. Alle

Kwaliteitscontrole

Elke CDP-10 wordt onderworpen aan uitgebreide

computertests, waarbij elke belangrijke

parameter wordt gemeten en bovendien wordt

het apparaat enige dagen ingespeeld om zeker

te zijn van een consistente kwaliteit over langere

termijn. Elk apparaat ondergaat meer dan

100 tests voordat het de fabriek verlaat, zodat u

er zeker van kunt zijn dat elke CDP-10 een

topklasse apparaat is.

Afstandsbediening

Een belangrijk technisch punt van de CDP-10 is

de speciale aluminium afstandsbediening. Deze

heeft een uitzonderlijk brede signaalhoek naar

de sensor op de CDP-10 en is gemaakt op een

zeer lange levensduur.
