DANGER: This machine was built to be operated according to the safe operation practices in
this manual. As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the
operator can result in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating fingers, hands,
toes and feet and throwing foreign objects. Failure to observe the following safety
instructions could result in serious injury or death.
Training
Preparation

machine. Children 14 and over should read and understand
the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual
and on the machine and be trained and supervised by an

Do not operate without wearing adequate winter outer
garments. Do not wear jewelry, long scarves or other loose
clothing, which could become entangled in moving parts.
Wear footwear which will improve footing on slippery
surfaces.

Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper

Use a grounded three-wire extension cord and receptacle
for all machines with electric start engines.
Thrown objects can cause serious personal injury. Plan
your snow-throwing pattern to avoid discharge of material
toward roads, bystanders and the like.
Adjust auger housing height to clear gravel or crushed rock
surfaces.

Disengage all control levers before starting the engine.

Keep bystanders, pets and children at least 75 feet from the
machine while it is in operation. Stop machine if anyone
enters the area.
Never attempt to make any adjustments while engine is
running, except where specifically recommended in the
operator’s manual.
Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling, especially
when operating in reverse.

Let engine and machine adjust to outdoor temperature
before starting to clear snow.

Do not operate machine while under the influence of
alcohol or drugs.
Safe Handling of Gasoline
To avoid personal injury or property damage use extreme care
in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the
vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can occur when
gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite.
Wash your skin and change clothes immediately.
Muffler and engine become hot and can cause a burn. Do
not touch. Keep children away.

Exercise extreme caution when operating on or crossing
gravel surfaces. Stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic.
a. Use only an approved gasoline container.
Exercise caution when changing direction and while
operating on slopes. Do not operate on steep slopes.
b. Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other
sources of ignition.
10. Plan your snow-throwing pattern to avoid discharge
towards windows, walls, cars etc. Thus, avoiding possible
property damage or personal injury caused by a ricochet.
c. Never fuel machine indoors.
d. Never remove gas cap or add fuel while the engine is
hot or running.
11. Never direct discharge at children, bystanders and pets or
allow anyone in front of the machine.
e. Allow engine to cool at least two minutes before
refueling.
12. Do not overload machine capacity by attempting to clear
snow at too fast of a rate.
f.
Never over fill fuel tank. Fill tank to no more than ½
inch below bottom of filler neck to provide space for
fuel expansion.
13. Never operate this machine without good visibility or light.
Always be sure of your footing and keep a firm hold on the
handles. Walk, never run.
g. Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely.
14. Disengage power to the auger/impeller when transporting
or not in use.
h. If gasoline is spilled, wipe it off the engine and
equipment. Move machine to another area. Wait 5
minutes before starting the engine.
15. Never operate machine at high transport speeds on
slippery surfaces. Look down and behind and use care
when backing up.
i.
Never store the machine or fuel container inside
where there is an open flame, spark or pilot light
(e.g. furnace, water heater, space heater, clothes
dryer etc.).
16. If the machine should start to vibrate abnormally, stop
the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it
against the engine. Inspect thoroughly for damage. Repair
any damage before starting and operating.
j.
Allow machine to cool at least 5 minutes before
storing.
17. Disengage all control levers and stop engine before you
leave the operating position (behind the handles). Wait
until the auger/impeller comes to a complete stop before
unclogging the chute assembly, making any adjustments,
or inspections.
k. Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck
or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place
containers on the ground away from your vehicle
before filling.
l.
If possible, remove gas-powered equipment from
the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground. If this
is not possible, then refuel such equipment on a
trailer with a portable container, rather than from a
gasoline dispenser nozzle.
18. Never put your hand in the discharge or collector openings.
Always use the clean-out tool provided to unclog the
discharge opening. Do not unclog chute assembly while
engine is running. Shut off engine and remain behind
handles until all moving parts have stopped before
unclogging.
m. Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel
tank or container opening at all times until fueling is
complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open device.
19. Use only attachments and accessories approved by the
manufacturer (e.g. wheel weights, tire chains, cabs etc.).
20. When starting engine, pull cord slowly until resistance
is felt, then pull rapidly. Rapid retraction of starter cord
(kickback) will pull hand and arm toward engine faster than
you can let go. Broken bones, fractures, bruises or sprains
could result.

Do not put hands or feet near rotating parts, in the auger/
impeller housing or chute assembly. Contact with the
rotating parts can amputate hands and feet.
The auger/impeller control lever is a safety device. Never
bypass its operation. Doing so makes the machine unsafe
and may cause personal injury.
21. If situations occur which are not covered in this manual, use
care and good judgment. Contact Customer Support for
assistance and the name of your nearest servicing dealer.
The control levers must operate easily in both directions
and automatically return to the disengaged position when
released.

Never operate with a missing or damaged chute assembly.
Keep all safety devices in place and working.
Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area.
Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless
and deadly gas.

14. According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission
(CPSC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
this product has an Average Useful Life of seven (7) years,
or 60 hours of operation. At the end of the Average Useful
Life have the machine inspected annually by an authorized
service dealer to ensure that all mechanical and safety
systems are working properly and not worn excessively.
Failure to do so can result in accidents, injuries or death.
Clearing a Clogged Discharge Chute
Hand contact with the rotating impeller inside the discharge
chute is the most common cause of injury associated with snow
throwers. Never use your hand to clean out the discharge chute.
To clear the chute:

Wait 10 seconds to be sure the impeller blades have
stopped rotating.
Do not modify engine

Always use a clean-out tool, not your hands.
To avoid serious injury or death, do not modify engine in any
way. Tampering with the governor setting can lead to a runaway
engine and cause it to operate at unsafe speeds. Never tamper
with factory setting of engine governor.
Maintenance & Storage
1.
Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper
operation regularly. Refer to the maintenance and
adjustment sections of this manual.
Notice Regarding Emissions
Engines which are certified to comply with California and federal
EPA emission regulations for SORE (Small Off Road Equipment)
are certified to operate on regular unleaded gasoline, and
may include the following emission control systems: Engine
Modification (EM), Oxidizing Catalyst (OC), Secondary Air
Injection (SAI) and Three Way Catalyst (TWC) if so equipped.

Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting machine
disengage all control levers and stop the engine. Wait until
the auger/impeller come to a complete stop. Disconnect
the spark plug wire and ground against the engine to
prevent unintended starting.

Check bolts and screws for proper tightness at frequent
intervals to keep the machine in safe working condition.
Also, visually inspect machine for any damage.
Spark Arrestor
WARNING! This machine is equipped with an
internal combustion engine and should not be used
on or near any unimproved forest-covered, brush
covered or grass-covered land unless the engine’s
exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrestor
meeting applicable local or state laws (if any).
Do not change the engine governor setting or over-speed
the engine. The governor controls the maximum safe
operating speed of the engine.
Snow thrower shave plates and skid shoes are subject to
wear and damage. For your safety protection, frequently
check all components and replace with original equipment
manufacturer’s (OEM) parts only. “Use of parts which do
not meet the original equipment specifications may lead to
improper performance and compromise safety!”
If a spark arrestor is used, it should be maintained in effective
working order by the operator. In the State of California the
above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public
Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws
apply on federal lands.
A spark arrestor for the muffler is available through your
nearest engine authorized service dealer or contact the service
department, P.O. Box 361131 Cleveland, Ohio 44136-0019.

Check control levers periodically to verify they engage
and disengage properly and adjust, if necessary. Refer
to the adjustment section in this operator’s manual for
instructions.

Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as
necessary.
Observe proper disposal laws and regulations for gas, oil,
etc. to protect the environment.
Prior to storing, run machine a few minutes to clear snow
from machine and prevent freeze up of auger/impeller.
10. Never store the machine or fuel container inside where
there is an open flame, spark or pilot light such as a water
heater, furnace, clothes dryer etc.
11. Always refer to the operator’s manual for proper
instructions on off-season storage.
12. Check fuel line, tank, cap, and fittings frequently for cracks
or leaks. Replace if necessary.
13. Do not crank engine with spark plug removed.

Note: Place a dab of white lithium grease (included with
this attachment) onto the chute ring, chute spring, and
chute adapter ring prior to assembly.
Assembly
Installing the Discharge Chute
A discharge chute, wire spring, and chute band, have been
included with this attachment. Please assemble them now
by installing the discharge chute onto the snow thrower by
following these steps:
1.
Install the wire spring into the discharge opening
of the snow thrower by inserting both ends into the
slots provided. See Figure 3-1 for proper location and
orientation of the spring. The inset of Figure 3-1 shows the
spring properly installed with the ends fitted into the slots
provided.

Install the chute band as shown in Figure 3-4. With the
discharge chute positioned to the right as shown, install
the chute band by lining up the notches in the front with
the band, and making certain to fit the discharge chute
inside the channel of the chute band, as detailed in the
inset of Figure 3-4.

Install the discharge chute, packed loose in the carton,
onto the snow thrower attachment, as shown in Figure 3-3.
Note: Position the discharge chute at an angle to the right
for ease of installation.
Clip the discharge chute handle onto the discharge chute,
as shown in Figure 3-2.

Secure the chute band to itself by first aligning the two
snap-fit features and pushing the two ends (1 & 2) together
as shown. Be sure both tabs on the two ends engage each
other, as shown in the top left inset of Figure 3-5. When
properly assembled, the chute band will appear as in the
top right inset of Figure 3-5.
Set-up
Adjust Skid Shoes
The snow thrower skid shoes are adjusted upward at the factory
for shipping purposes. Adjust them downward, if desired, prior to
operating the snow thrower attachment.
CAUTION : It is not recommended that you
operate this snow thrower attachment on gravel as
it can easily pick up and throw loose gravel, causing
personal injury or damage to the snow thrower and
surrounding property.
•

For close snow removal on a smooth surface, raise skid
shoes higher on the auger housing.
Use a middle or lower position when the area to be cleared
is uneven, such as a gravel driveway
NOTE: If you choose to operate the snow thrower on
a gravel surface, keep the skid shoes in position for
maximum clearance between the ground and the shave
plate.
CAUTION: Operating a snow thrower equipped
with steel skid shoes may result in damage to
natural stone paver surfaces (e.g. sandstone,
bluestone, limestone). Refer to the Replacement
Parts or Attachments & Accessories sections for
information on available polymer skid shoes.

To adjust the skid shoes:
IMPORTANT: If you need to remove the chute for any reason,
a screw driver must be used to release the locking tabs shown
above in the left inset of Figure 3-5.

Loosen the four hex nuts (two on each side) and carriage
bolts. Move skid shoes to desired position. See Figure 3-7.
Make certain the entire bottom surface of skid shoe is
against the ground to avoid uneven wear on the skid shoes.
Note: If the installation has been completed properly, a
click! click! click! sound will be heard when rotating the
chute to the left and right. See Figure 3-6.
Retighten nuts and bolts securely.

Discharge Chute
Shear Pins
The position of the upper discharge chute can be adjusted to
control the distance that the discharged snow will be thrown,
and the direction at which it will be discharged. Follow these
steps to adjust the discharge chute:
A pair of replacement auger shear pins and bow tie cotter pins
are included with this snow thrower attachment. See Figure 3-9.
Store them in a safe place until needed.
1.
Loosen the wing knob on the upper chute, adjust the chute
to desired operating position.
2.
Tighten the wing knob on the upper chute making sure
the carriage bolt on the inside of the discharge chute is
correctly positioned. Refer to Figure 3-8.

Chute Clean-Out Tool
The chute clean-out tool is fastened to the top of the auger
housing with a mounting clip and a cable tie at the factory. Cut
the cable tie before operating the snow thrower. See Figure 3-10.

To adjust the direction that the snow will be thrown, use
the handle on the upper discharge chute to control the
direction of the discharged snow. Refer back to Figure 3-8.

Refer to the FLEX™ Base Unit Operator’s Manual for details
regarding all engine-related controls and features.
The distance snow is thrown can be adjusted by either raising
or lowering the upper chute. Loosen the chute knob on the side
of the upper chute to adjust. Pivot the upper chute to desired
position, and retighten the chute knob.
Drive Control Lever
This lever propels the entire machine forward.
Shave Plate
Attachment Control Lever
Squeeze the auger control against the upper handle to engage
the augers; release to disengage the augers.
The shave plate maintains contact with pavement as the snow
thrower is propelled, allowing snow close to pavement’s surface
to be discharged.
Skid Shoes
Auger
Position the skid shoes based on surface conditions. Adjust
upward for hard-packed snow. Adjust downward when
operating on gravel or crushed rock surfaces. See the Assembly &
Setup section for details on adjusting the skid shoes.
When engaged, the auger’s rotation draw snow into the auger
housing and throws it out the discharge chute.
Chute Assembly
Snow drawn into the auger housing is discharged out of the
chute assembly
Chute Clean-Out Tool
The chute clean-out tool is conveniently fastened to the rear of
the auger housing with a mounting clip. It is used to dislodge
and scoop any snow and ice which has formed in and near the
chute assembly.
Chute Handle
The direction of snow throwing corresponds to the direction
of the chute opening. Use the chute handle to turn the chute
assembly in the direction you wish to throw the snow.

Once the top mount is engaged (1), and with both hands
on the handle grips, tip the unit backwards somewhat
swiftly to engage the bottom mounts (2). See Figure 5-3.
Starting The Engine
Refer to the FLEX™ Power Base’s operator’s manual for engine
starting and operating instructions.
Couple Snow Thrower Attachment with Power
Base

With the kickstand UP on the FLEX™ Power Base, as shown
in Figure 5-1, roll it over to the snow thrower attachment.

Note: The operator will be able to hear the lower mounts
engage and lock when coupled properly.
To Uncouple the Snow Thrower Attachment from Power Base:
Fully stop the power unit engine before attempting to perform
any maintenance steps or uncoupling of the attachment. Never
attempt to uncouple the power base from the snow thrower
attachment WITH the engine running.

Tip the FLEX™ Power Base forward, engaging the top
mounting tab with the mounting handle on the snow
thrower attachment, see Figure 5-2.
WARNING! Always turn off the FLEX™ Power Base
engine and remove the key prior to attempting to
replace the shear pins or uncoupling of the power
base from the attachment.

Put the kickstand down.
Tip the FLEX™ Power Base forward to disengage the
bottom mounts, then the top mount.
3.
Move the FLEX™ Power Base away from the snow thrower
attachment.
Note: With the kickstand deployed in the downward
(unlocking) position, the FLEX™ Power Base will rest
comfortably in a parked position.

Shut off engine as instructed in the engine manual.
To Engage Drive
Remove the clean-out tool from the clip which secures it to
the rear of the auger housing.
1.
To engage the drive, squeeze the Drive Control Lever
completely up against the upper handle to engage the
wheels. To stop the forward motion, release the drive
control.

Use the shovel-shaped end of the clean-out tool to
dislodge and scoop any snow and ice which has formed in
and near the chute assembly.
Note: This Drive Control Lever is a variable speed drive
control. Pulling the drive lever all the way in will give
the operator full speed, however full speed should not
be achieved for some operations, such as during snow
throwing.
Refasten the clean-out tool to the mounting clip on the
rear of the auger housing, start the snow thrower’s engine
as instructed in the engine manual.
While standing in the operator’s position (behind the snow
thrower), engage the Attachment Control Lever for a few seconds
to clear any remaining snow and ice from the chute assembly.
To Engage Augers
1.
To engage the augers, push in on the Attachment Control
Lever Safety Lock button (1 in Figure 5-4).
Installing the Snow Sock for Additional Traction
2.
Squeeze the Attachment Control Lever completely against
the upper handle (2). To stop the augers, release handle.
Two snow socks have been included with this snow thrower
attachment to provide additional traction when moving snow.
Follow these steps to install the snow socks:

Fit a snow sock over the top of the wheel on the FLEX™
Power Base, as shown in Figure 5-5, then work the rest of it
around the bottom of the wheel.

Note: Snow socks are designed for use during snow
removal only, and are not meant to be used with any other
FLEX attachments.

Shear Pins
The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with four shear pins
and cotter pins. If the auger should strike a foreign object or ice
jam, the snow thrower is designed so that the pins may shear.
See the Service Section later in this manual for instructions on
replacing the shear pins.

Chute Clean-Out Tool
WARNING! Never use your hands to clear a
clogged chute assembly. Shut off engine and remain
behind handles until all moving parts have stopped
before unclogging.
The chute clean-out tool is conveniently fastened to the rear of
the auger housing with a mounting clip. Should snow and ice
become lodged in the chute assembly during operation, proceed
as follows to safely clean the chute assembly and chute opening:

Release both the Attachment Control Lever and the Drive

Adjusting the Auger Drive Cable
After periods of extended use, and during the break-in period, it
may be necessary to adjust the auger drive cable. Follow these
simple steps to adjust the auger drive cable:

General Recommendations
•
Always observe safety rules when performing any type of
maintenance.
1.
Uncouple the power base and the snow thrower
attachment from each other.
•
The warranty on this snow thrower does not cover items
that have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence.
To receive full value from the warranty, operator must
maintain the snow thrower as instructed in this manual.
WARNING! Always turn off the FLEX™ Power Base
engine and remove the key prior to attempting to
uncouple of the power base from the attachment.
•
Periodically check all fasteners and hardware to make sure
these are tight.

Remove the plastic belt cover on the snow thrower
attachment by removing the two self-tapping screws that
secure it. Refer back to Figure 6-1.
WARNING! Before servicing, repairing, lubricating,
or inspecting, disengage all controls and stop
engine. Wait until all moving parts have come to a
complete stop. Disconnect spark plug wire and
ground it against the engine to prevent unintended
starting. Always wear safety glasses during
operation or while performing any adjustments or
repairs.
Looking at the rear mounting plate of the snow thrower
attachment, loosen (but do not remove) the left side hex
screw shown in Figure 6-2.
Note: The other screw (to the right of the hex screw
(previously loosened) is a shoulder bolt that does not need
to be loosened.
Engine
IMPORTANT: Refer to the FLEX™ Power Base operator’s manual
for complete engine servicing instructions.
Check V-Belts
Follow instructions below to check condition of drive belts every
50 hours of operation.
1.
Remove the plastic belt cover on the snow thrower
attachment by removing the two self-tapping screws that
secure it. See Figure 6-1.

On the front side of the mounting plate, move the cable
tension guide up or down to remove any slack in the auger
drive cable. See the left inset of Figure 6-2.
Note: Be sure that the adjustment does not apply
any pressure on the cable and the actuator arm. This
adjustment is simply to remove the excess slack in the
auger cable as shown in the right handed inset of Figure
6-2.
Tighten the left hand side hex screw to complete this
adjustment.

Visually inspect for frayed, cracked, or excessively worn
out belt. Replace, if necessary, following instructions in the
Service section of this manual.

Shave Plate and Skid Shoes
The shave plate and skid shoes on the bottom of the snow
thrower are subject to wear. These should be checked
periodically and replaced when necessary.
Off-Season Storage
If the snow thrower attachment will not be used for 30 days
or longer, or if it is the end of the snow season when the last
possibility of snow is gone, the equipment needs to be stored
properly. Follow storage instructions below to ensure top
performance from the snow thrower for many more years.
To replace skid shoes:
1.
Remove the carriage bolts and nuts securing each skid shoe
to the auger housing, See Figure 6-3.

Store the equipment in a clean, dry area.
If storing the snow thrower in an unventilated area,
rustproof the machine using a light oil or silicone to coat
the snow thrower.

Clean the exterior of the snow thrower.
Preparing The Engine
IMPORTANT: Refer to the FLEX™ Power Base operator’s manual
for complete engine servicing instructions.
Lubrication
Auger Shaft
At least once a season, remove the shear pins from the auger
shaft. Spray lubricant inside the shaft and around the spacers and
the flange bearings found at either end of the shaft.
See Figure 6-4.

Reassemble new skid shoes with hardware just removed.
Make sure the skid shoes are adjusted to be level.
Note: Refer to the Assembly & Set-Up section for
information regarding adjusting the skid shoes.
To remove shave plate:
1.
Remove both skid shoes and hardware including carriage
bolts and nuts which attach shave plate to the snow
thrower housing. For location of shave plate, see Figure 6-3.

Reassemble new shave plate, making sure heads of the
carriage bolts are to the inside of the housing.
Reinstall skid shoes. Tighten securely.

Wheels
At least once a season, remove both wheels. Clean and coat the
axles with a multipurpose automotive grease before reinstalling
wheels.

Augers
Replacing the Auger Belt
The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with four shear pins and
cotter pins. If you hit a foreign object or ice jam, the snow thrower
is designed so that the pins may shear.

Uncouple the FLEX™ Snow Thrower attachment from the
FLEX™ Base Unit by deploying the kickstand and tipping
the base unit forward. Carefully move the base unit
backwards and away from the snow thrower attachment.
If the augers do not turn, check if the pins have sheared. Replace,
if needed, with proper shear pins. Refer to Parts List for correct
part number.

Park the FLEX™ Base Unit in a safe and stable location.
Rotate the discharge chute to the right as shown in Figure
7-2.
CAUTION: NEVER replace the auger shear pins
with standard pins or fasteners. Any damage to the
auger gearbox or other components, as a result of
doing so, will NOT be covered by your snow
thrower’s warranty.
Replacing Shear Pins
CAUTION: NEVER replace the auger shear pins
with anything other than OEM Parts No. 738-04124A
replacement shear pins and 714-04040 bow-tie
cotter pins. Any damage to the auger gearbox or
other components as a result of failing to do so will
NOT be covered by your snow thrower attachment’s
warranty.
WARNING! Always turn off the snow thrower’s
engine, as instructed in the engine owner’s manual
and remove the key prior to replacing shear pins.

Remove the two self-tapping screws shown in Figure 7-3,
and lift the belt cover up and away from this device. Set it
and the screws aside and save.

Carefully tip the FLEX™ Snow Thrower Attachment forward
onto the front of the auger housing as shown. Use the
mounting handle called out in Figure 7-4 to tip this unit
forward. NEVER use the chute handle to either tip this unit
forward, for lifting or any other reason other than rotating
the discharge chute left or right.
Note: When reinstalling the new belt, be sure that it routes
INSIDE of the idler pulley as shown in 1 of Figure 7-6.

Reinstall the shoulder bolt belt keeper, then tip the unit
upright using the Mounting Handle, as detailed in , then
reinstall the belt cover with the two tap screws that were
removed.

Remove the belt keeping should bolt and lock nut and
retain for later reinstallation. See Figure 7-5.

Pull the idler pulley outward (1 in Figure 7-6) to relieve the
tension on the auger belt.

LIMITED WARRANTY FOR FLEX ATTACHMENT PRODUCT
The limited warranty set forth herein is given by Troy-Bilt LLC to the Initial
Purchaser (as defined herein) with respect to a new Troy-Bilt-branded FLEX
attachment product consisting of one of the following four (4) attachments
to the FLEX Power Base (referred to hereafter as the “Attachment”): (i) wide
area mower, (ii) snow-thrower, (iii) pressure washer or (iv) leaf blower. This
limited warranty does not cover Emission Control Systems and is not a
Federal Emission Control Warranty Statement as defined by U.S. federal
law. Please refer to the Federal Emission Control Warranty Statement in
the operator’s manual for the FLEX Power Base product (“Power Base”) for
warranties covering Emission Control Systems.

Any expendable, consumable, or routine maintenance item which
needs replacement or service as part of normal maintenance, unless
such items have defects that cause failure or premature wear within
the first thirty (30) days. Where applicable, normal wear items include
but are not limited to, blades, tires, belts, filters, fuses, and other
consumable items
Any Attachment that has been altered or modified in a manner not
consistent with the original design of the product or in a manner not
otherwise approved by Troy-Bilt LLC.

Paint repairs or replacements for defective paint (including materials
and application) are covered for a period of three (3) months.
Wheel rims are covered for a period of three (3) months for
manufacturing defects.
The FLEX Power Base is covered by a separate limited warranty which
is contained in the operator’s manual for the FLEX Power Base.
Scope of the Limited Warranty
Troy-Bilt LLC offers the following limited warranty to the Initial Purchaser for
residential or otherwise non-commercial use of the Attachment on the FLEX
Power Base: except for the Exclusions (defined herein), during the Warranty
Period (defined herein), the Attachment will be free from manufacturing
defects (including workmanship and materials). The “Initial Purchaser” is the
first person to purchase a new Attachment from an authorized Troy-Bilt dealer,
distributor and/or retailer of such attachment products. This limited warranty
is non-transferrable. Except as otherwise set forth herein, the limited warranty
period for this new Attachment purchased by the Initial Purchaser is two (2)
years from the date of purchase as shown on the original sales receipt for the
Attachment (“Warranty Period”).
This warranty does not cover and Troy-Bilt LLC disclaims any
responsibility for:

Loss of time or loss of use of the Attachment.
Transportation costs and other expenses incurred in connection with
the transport of the Attachment to and from the authorized Troy-Bilt
service provider.
Any loss or damage to other equipment or personal items.
Damage caused by performance or use of the Attachment in
connection with any product other than the FLEX Power Base.
Defects in Workmanship or Materials

manufacturing defects in either workmanship or materials for the Warranty
Period. During the Warranty Period, Troy-Bilt LLC will, at its option, either
repair or replace any original part that is covered by this limited warranty and

El silenciador y el motor se calientan y pueden causar
quemaduras. No los toque. Mantenga a los niños alejados.
Para evitar lesiones personales o daños materiales tenga mucho
cuidado al manipular la gasolina. La gasolina es sumamente
inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar explosiones. Si se derrama
gasolina encima o sobre la ropa se puede lesionar gravemente ya que
se puede encender. Lávese la piel y cámbiese de ropa de inmediato.

Tenga mucho cuidado si cruza o usa la máquina en superficies
con grava. Manténgase atento al tráfico y los riesgos ocultos.
Tenga cuidado cuando cambie de dirección o cuando
opere la máquina en pendientes. No la utilice en pendientes
pronunciadas.
a. Utilice sólo los recipientes para gasolina autorizados.
b. Apague todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y otras
fuentes de combustión.

que la descarga de material se produzca hacia las ventanas,
las paredes, los automóviles, etc. y evitar así posibles daños
materiales o lesiones producidas por los rebotes.
c. Nunca cargue combustible en la máquina en un
espacio cerrado.
d. Nunca saque la tapa del combustible ni agregue
combustible mientras el motor está caliente o en marcha.
11. Nunca dirija la descarga hacia los niños, los observadores o las
mascotas ni deje que nadie se pare delante de la máquina.
e. Deje que el motor se enfríe por lo menos dos minutos
antes de volver a cargar combustible.
12. No sobrecargue la capacidad de la máquina tratando de sacar
la nieve muy rápidamente.
f.
Nunca llene en exceso el depósito de combustible.
Llene el tanque a no más de ½ pulgada por debajo de
la base del cuello de llenado dejando espacio para la
dilatación del combustible.
13. Nunca opere esta máquina si no cuenta con buena visibilidad o
luz. Siempre esté seguro de dónde apoya los pies y mantenga
con firmeza las manos en las manijas. Camine, nunca corra.
14. Corte la corriente a la barrena/impulsor cuando transporte
la máquina o cuando la misma no está en uso.
g. Vuelva a colocar el tapón de combustible y ajústelo bien.
h. Limpie el combustible que se haya derramado sobre
el motor y el equipo. Traslade la máquina a otra zona.
Espere 5 minutos antes de encender el motor.
15. Nunca opere la máquina a alta velocidad de desplazamiento
sobre superficies resbaladizas. Mire hacia abajo y hacia atrás
y tenga cuidado cuando vaya marcha atrás.
i.
Nunca almacene la máquina o el recipiente de
combustible en un espacio cerrado donde haya fuego,
chispas o luz piloto (por ejemplo, hornos, calentadores
de agua, calefactores, secadores de ropa, etc.).
16. Si la máquina comenzara a vibrar de manera anormal, detenga
el motor, desconecte el cable de la bujía y póngala de manera
que haga masa contra el motor. Revise cuidadosamente para
detectar daños. Repare cualquier daño antes de encender el
motor y operar la máquina.

Deje que la máquina se enfríe por lo menos 5 minutos
antes de guardarla.

llene el equipo en un remolque con un recipiente
portátil, en vez de hacerlo desde una boquilla
dispensadora de gasolina.
18. Nunca ponga las manos en las aberturas de descarga o de
recolección. Utilice siempre la herramienta de limpieza que se
adjunta para destapar la abertura de descarga. No destape el
montaje del canal mientras el motor está en funcionamiento.
Antes de destaparlo, apague el motor y permanezca detrás de

Montaje
Instalación del canal de descarga
Con el presente accesorio se incluyó un canal de descarga, un
resorte de alambre y una banda para canal. Ensámblelos ahora,
para lo que debe instalar el canal de descarga en el accesorio
quitanieve siguiendo estos pasos:

Instale el resorte de alambre en la abertura de descarga
del accesorio quitanieve para lo cual debe insertar ambos
extremos en las ranuras provistas. Consulte la Figura 3-1
para conocer la ubicación y la orientación adecuadas del
resorte. En el recuadro de la Figura 3-1 se muestra el resorte
correctamente instalado con los extremos colocados en las
ranuras provistas.

Coloque la banda para el canal como se indica en la Figura
3-4. Con el canal de descarga ubicado hacia la derecha como
se indica, coloque la banda del canal alineando las ranuras
del frente con la banda, y asegurándose de calzar el canal de
descarga dentro del canal de la banda para el canal, como se
indica en el recuadro de la Figura 3-4.

Las zapatas antideslizantes de la máquina quitanieve se ajustan
hacia arriba en fábrica para el envío. Si lo desea, puede ajustarlas
hacia abajo antes de hacer funcionar el accesorio quitanieve.
PRECAUCIÓN: Se recomienda no operar este
accesorio quitanieve sobre grava ya que la unidad
puede recoger y lanzar grava suelta fácilmente,
causando lesiones personales o daños a la máquina
y los objetos que la rodean.

Si desea quitar nieve en una superficie lisa, eleve más las

Use las posiciones media o baja cuando la superficie que
desea limpiar es despareja, tal como un camino de grava.
NOTA: Si tiene que usar la máquina quitanieve sobre grava,
mantenga las zapatas antideslizantes en la posición que
permita lograr una separación máxima entre el piso y la
placa de raspado.
PRECAUCIÓN: Si se utiliza una máquina quitanieves
que está equipada con zapatas antideslizantes de acero
se pueden provocar daños a las superficies que tengan
pavimento natural (por ejemplo arenisca, piedra azul,

o bajando el canal superior. Afloje la perilla del canal del lado del
canal superior para ajustarlo. Gire el canal superior hasta la posición
deseada y vuelva a ajustar la perilla del canal.

Procedimiento para engranar la transmisión

Para activar la transmisión, apriete la palanca de control
de la transmisión completamente contra la manija de control
superior para engranar las ruedas. Para detener la marcha
hacia adelante, suelte el control de la transmisión.

Nota: La palanca de control de la transmisión es un control
de transmisión de velocidad variable. Si se tira de la palanca

obtendrá la máxima velocidad, sin embargo, no se alcanzará
dicha velocidad para algunas operaciones, como por ejemplo,
mientras se quita la nieve.
Vuelva a ajustar la herramienta de limpieza al pasador de
montaje que está en la parte posterior de la caja de la barrena
y ponga en marcha el motor del accesorio quitanieve como
se indica en el manual del motor.
Procedimiento para engranar las barrenas

Ajuste del cable de transmisión de la barrena
Después de períodos de uso prolongado y durante el período de
descanso, puede ser necesario ajustar el cable de transmisión de
la barrena. Siga estos simples pasos para ajustar dicho cable:

Placa de raspado y zapatas antideslizantes
La placa de raspado y las zapatas antideslizantes ubicadas en la base
de la máquina quitanieve están sujetas a desgaste. Debe controlarlas
periódicamente y reemplazarlas cuando sea necesario.
Almacenamiento fuera de temporada
Si no se va a utilizar el accesorio quitanieve durante 30 días o más, o si
es el final de la temporada de nieve y ya no existe posibilidad de que
nieve, es necesario almacenar el equipo de manera adecuada. Siga las
instrucciones de almacenamiento que se indican a continuación para
garantizar el rendimiento máximo de la máquina quitanieve durante
muchos años más.
Para reemplazar las zapatas antideslizantes:
1.
Retire los pernos del carro y tuercas que sujetan cada zapata
antideslizante a la caja de la barrena. Vea la Figura 6-3.

Almacene el equipo en un área despejada y seca.
Si almacena la máquina en un lugar mal ventilado, debe
realizarle un tratamiento antioxidante usando un aceite ligero
o silicona para cubrir la máquina quitanieve.

IMPORTANTE: Consulte el manual del operador de la base de
potencia FLEX™ para obtener las instrucciones completas para el
mantenimiento del motor.
Lubricación
Eje de la barrena
Al menos una vez por temporada, quite los pasadores de cuchilla del
eje de la barrena. Rocíe lubricante en el interior del eje y alrededor de
los separadores y los cojinetes bridados que se encuentran en ambos
extremos del eje.

Vuelva a ensamblar nuevas zapatas antideslizantes con los
elementos de ferretería que acaba de retirar. Compruebe que las
zapatas antideslizantes están ajustadas para que queden parejas.
Nota: Consulte la sección Montaje y Configuración para obtener
información sobre el ajuste de las zapatas antideslizantes.
Para retirar la placa de raspado:
1.
Retire ambas zapatas antideslizantes y los elementos de
ferretería, incluyendo los pernos del carro y las tuercas que unen
la placa de raspado a la caja de la máquina quitanieve. Para ver
la ubicación de la placa de raspado, consulte la figura 6-3.

Vuelva a ensamblar la placa de raspado nueva, asegurándose
de que las cabezas de los pernos del carro se encuentren del
lado interior de la caja.
Vuelva a instalar las zapatas antideslizantes. Ajuste bien.

Retire ambas ruedas al menos una vez cada temporada.
Limpie y recubra los ejes con una grasa para automotores
multiuso antes de volver a colocar las ruedas.

Barrenas
Cambio de la correa de la barrena
Las barrenas están ajustadas al eje espiral con cuatro pasadores de
cuchilla y pasadores de chaveta. La máquina quitanieve está diseñada
de manera que los pasadores se quiebran si golpea un objeto extraño
o una barra de hielo.

Desacople el accesorio quitanieve FLEX™ de la unidad base
FLEX™ usando el soporte e inclinando la unidad base hacia
adelante. Mueva con cuidado la unidad base hacia atrás
alejándola del accesorio quitanieve.
Si las barrenas no giran, verifique si los pasadores se quebraron.
Si es necesario, reemplácelos por pasadores de cuchilla adecuados.
Consulte el número de pieza correcto en la lista de piezas.

Estacione la unidad base FLEX™ en un lugar seguro y estable.
Gire el canal de descarga hacia la derecha como se muestra
en la Figura 7-2.
PRECAUCIÓN: No reemplace NUNCA los pasadores
de cuchilla por pasadores o sujetadores estándar.
Cualquier daño que sufra el engranaje de la barrena o
cualquier otro componente por el uso de pasadores
estándar NO estará cubierto por la garantía del
accesorio quitanieve.
Reemplazo de los pasadores de cuchilla
PRECAUCIÓN: NUNCA cambie los pasadores de cu-
chilla de las barrenas por otra cosa que los pasadores de
cuchilla de repuesto del fabricante del equipo original,
Nº de pieza 738-04124A y los pasadores de chaveta con
unión curva 714-04040. Cualquier daño que sufra la caja
de engranajes de la barrena o cualquier otro componen-
te por no respetar la indicación precedente, NO estará
cubierto por la garantía del accesorio quitanieve.
¡ADVERTENCIA! Siempre debe apagar el motor del
accesorio quitanieve, como se indica en el manual del
propietario del motor y retirar la llave antes de cambiar
los pasadores de cuchilla.

Extraiga los dos tornillos autorroscantes que se muestran en
la Figura 7-3 y levante la cubierta de la correa alejándola del
dispositivo. Deje la cubierta y los tornillos apartados y guárdelos.

Incline con cuidado el accesorio quitanieve FLEX™ hacia
adelante sobre el frente de la caja de la barrena como se indica.
Use la manija de montaje que se indicó en la Figura 7-4 para
inclinar esta unidad hacia adelante. NUNCA use la manija del
canal para inclinar esta unidad hacia adelante, para levantarla
ni para ninguna otra función que no sea girar el canal de
descarga a la izquierda o la derecha.
Nota: Al reinstalar la nueva correa, asegúrese de que pase
por el INTERIOR de la polea loca, como se indica en 1 de la
Figura 7-6.

incline la unidad hacia arriba usando la Manija de montaje,

GARANTÍA LIMITADA PARA EL ACCESORIO FLEX
La garantía limitada que se estable en el presente documento es otorgada
por Troy-Bilt LLC al comprador inicial (como se define en este documento)
en relación con el nuevo accesorio FLEX Troy-Bilt que está integrado por uno
de los siguientes cuatro (4) accesorios de la base de potencia FLEX (identificado
en adelante como el "Accesorio"): (i) cortadora de césped con capacidad para
superficies amplias, (ii) máquina quitanieve, (iii) lavadora a presión
o (iv) soplador de hojas. La presente garantía limitada no cubre los Sistemas
de control de emisiones y no constituye una Declaración de garantía del control
de las emisiones federal según lo definido por las leyes federales de los Estados
Unidos. Consulte la Declaración de garantía del control de las emisiones federal
que se incluye en el manual del operador de la base de potencia FLEX
("Base de potencia") para conocer las garantías que cubren los Sistemas
de control de emisiones.

Los artículos desechables, consumibles o de mantenimiento de
rutina que requieren reparaciones o mantenimiento como parte
del mantenimiento normal, a menos que tales artículos presenten
defectos que ocasionen fallas o un desgaste prematuro dentro de los
primeros treinta (30) días. De corresponder, los artículos de desgaste
normal incluyen, a título de ejemplo, las cuchillas, los neumáticos, las
correas, los filtros, los fusibles y otros artículos consumibles
Cualquier Accesorio que haya sido alterado o modificado de una manera
que no sea coherente con el diseño original del producto o de una manera

Accesorio estará libre de defectos de fabricación (que incluyen la mano de obra y
los materiales). El “Comprador inicial” es la primera persona en adquirir un nuevo
Accesorio a un representante, distribuidor y/o minorista Troy-Bilt autorizado
del mencionado accesorio. La garantía limitada es intransferible. Excepto que
se disponga lo contrario en el presente documento, el período de la garantía
limitada para este nuevo Accesorio adquirido por el Comprador inicial es de dos
(2) años a partir de la fecha de la compra, como se indica en el comprobante de
ventas original correspondiente al Accesorio (“Período de la Garantía”).
La la base de potencia FLEX está cubierta por una garantía limitada
separada que se incluye en el manual del operador de la base de potencia
FLEX.
La presente garantía no cubre y Troy-Bilt LLC rechaza todo tipo de
responsabilidad en concepto de:

Costos de transporte y otros gastos incurridos en relación con el
transporte del Accesorio desde y hacia el proveedor de reparaciones
y mantenimiento Troy-Bilt autorizado.

Daños ocasionados por el rendimiento o el uso del Accesorio con
cualquier producto que no sea la Base de potencia Flex.

Excepto por las Exclusiones, se garantiza que el Accesorio estará libre de defectos
de fabricación en la mano de obra o los materiales durante el Período de la Garantía.
Durante el Período de la Garantía, Troy-Bilt LLC reparará o reemplazará, a su juicio,
cualquier pieza original que esté cubierta por la presente garantía limitada y que se
determine que presenta algún defecto en la mano de obra o los materiales.
A fin de reunir los requisitos para la presente garantía limitada, la Unidad
