Sunbeam’s Safety Precautions  
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR  
HAIRDRYER AND STRAIGHTENER.  
• These appliances must not come into contact  
with water or any other liquid.  
• When the appliances are used in the bathroom,  
unplug it after use as the proximity of water  
presents a hazard even when the unit is  
switched off.  
Take care to avoid contact with the face and  
neck when the styling plates are hot.  
• Always switch off your appliances at the power  
outlet and remove the plug when not in use.  
• Do not store your appliances near tubs, basins,  
baths or other vessels containing water or any  
other liquid.  
Sunbeam are very safety conscious when  
appliance.

but it is essential that the product user also  
exercise care when using an electrical appliance.  
Listed below are precautions which are essential  
for the safe use of an electrical appliance:  
• Read carefully and save all the instructions  
provided with an appliance.  
• Always turn the power off at the power outlet  
before you insert or remove a plug. Remove  
by grasping the plug - do not pull on the  
cord.  
• Turn the power off and remove the plug  
when the appliance is not in use and before  
cleaning.  
• Do not use your appliance with an extension  
cord unless this cord has been checked and  
tested by a qualified technician or service  
person.  
• Always use your appliance from a power  
outlet of the voltage (A.C. only) marked on  
the appliance.  
• Do not use an appliance for any purpose  
other than its intended use.  
• Do not place an appliance on or near a hot  
gas flame, electric element or on a heated  
oven. Do not place on top of any other  
appliance.  
• Do not let the power cord of an appliance  
hang over the edge of a table or bench top or  
touch any hot surface.  
• For safety reasons and to avoid maintenance  
by unskilled persons, some appliances are  
‘sealed’ using tamperproof screws. Such  
appliances should always be returned to the  
nearest Sunbeam Appointed Service Centre  
for adjustment or repair if required.  
• Do not operate any electrical appliance with  
a damaged cord or after the appliance has  
been dropped or damaged in any manner. If  
damage is suspected, return the appliance  
to the nearest Sunbeam Appointed Service  
Centre for examination, repair or adjustment.  
• Close supervision is necessary when your  
appliance is being used near children or  
infirm persons.  
• Never leave an appliance unattended while  
in use.  
• For additional protection, Sunbeam  
recommend the use of a residual current  
device (RCD) with a tripping current not  
exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit  
supplying power to your appliances.  
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any  
other liquid unless recommended.  
• Young children should be supervised to  
ensure that they do not play with the

Using your 1600W Dryer  
Before using your 1600W Dryer  
• Squeeze excess moisture from your hair  
and towel dry.  
• Comb hair free of tangles using a wide  
toothed comb.  
• Apply your favourite styling product.  
Using your hairdryer  
• Fold the handle down away from the barrel  
until it clicks into the open position.  
• Use a pen to select the appropriate setting  
on the voltage switch.  
• Insert the plug into a power outlet and turn  
the power on.  
• Select the desired heat / speed setting.  
Setting I is best for controlled styling  
whilst setting II is ideal for fast drying.  
• Hold the hairdryer about 30 cm away from  
your hair.  
• Section your hair in 4-5cm strips and dry  
each section before moving on to the next.  
• Use the concentrator nozzle onto specific  
areas of the hair for spot drying or when  
styling.  
• Once hair is dried use the cool shot setting  
to cool the hair and set the style.

Using your Straightener  
Using your straightener  
• Insert the plug into the power outlet and  
turn the power on.  
• Move the on/off switch to the on position  
(I)  
• Select the desired heat level by rotating  
the temperature dial on the side of the  
straightener. Use lower heat for fine hair or  
touch ups. Use higher heat for thicker hair  
or more resistant curls.  
• Allow the straightener to heat up for a few  
moments before using.  
• Brush hair thoroughly. Separate out section  
of hair approximately 4cm in width and  
smooth it with a comb.  
• For best results start at the scalp and work  
to the ends of the hair. Place the separated  
section of hair between the flat plates and  
close the handle around the hair.  
• Hold the styler in position for 3 to 5  
seconds depending on the hair type.  
• Once the hair is heated, carefully slide the  
styler along the section of separated hair,  
making sure that the hair is heated and  
straightened all the way to the ends.  
• Select another section of hair and repeat  
the process.  
• Use the cool shot setting on the hairdryer  
to set the style.

Care and Cleaning  
• Turn your appliance off after use. Always  
turn the power off and remove the plug  
before cleaning.  
• Do not wind the power cord around  
appliances as this may cause strain and  
damage the wiring.  
• Do not immerse the appliances in water or  
any other liquid.  
• To clean the exterior, simply wipe over with  
a dampened cloth and wipe dry.  
• The hairdryer handle can be folded for easy  
storage or to save space in a suitcase or  
sports bag.  
• To clean the straightening plates, wipe with  
a soft cloth moistened with a solution of  
shampoo and warm water.
