LOADING THE BATTERY

2. Insert the battery into the

battery chamber.

This camera uses one 3-volt lithium KODAK

KCR2 (or equivalent) Battery that supplies

power for all camera operations.

NOTE: Before you remove the old battery,

turn off the camera.

1. Slide the battery door (24) and lift

to open.

Low-battery indicator

It is time to replace the battery when —

• the battery symbol (35) appears on the

LCD panel (17), or

Auto power off

This camera automatically turns off

after approximately 4 minutes to

conserve the battery life. To awaken

the camera, press ON/OFF (23).

none of the indicators appear on the LCD

panel and the shutter button (1) cannot

be operated.

Turn the camera off when the

camera is not going to be used for

an extended length of time.

Setting the date

QUARTZ DATA BACK

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover the lens/

lens cover (7) and to turn on the camera.

This camera has a quartz clock and

automatic calendar through the year 2099.

You can choose from three formats:

(year/month/day, day/month/year, or

month/day/year) or time format

2. Press DATE (15) and hold until the first

numbers on the LCD panel (17) “blink.”

(day, hour/minute). When you hold the

camera horizontally to take pictures, the

data is recorded onto the lower right portion

of the picture. In the vertical format with the

shutter button up, it’s imprinted on the lower

left portion but positioned horizontally on

the picture.

3. Move the zoom dial (13) to the right or

left to change the first setting in the

date mode.

Setting the time

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover the lens/

lens cover (7) and to turn on the camera.

2. Press DATE (15) and hold until the first

numbers on the LCD panel (17) “blink.”

3. Repeatedly press date (15) until the hour

setting in time mode “blinks.”

4. Move the zoom dial (13) to the right or

left to select the hour.

5. Press DATE to save the setting for hour

and to actuate the setting for minutes.

ATTACHING THE LCD LABEL

USING THE LCD BACKLIGHT

English text references for the LCD control

buttons are printed below the LCD

panel (17). You can replace the English

text with Chinese, Arabic, Thai, Polish,

French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian

with one of the eight supplied labels. Simply

remove the peel-off label of your

choice and place it over the English text.

The label is removable if you want to

reposition it or replace it with a different one.

This camera features an LCD panel

backlight for easy viewing and use in low-

light or nighttime settings.

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover the lens/

lens cover (7) and to turn on the camera.

2. Press the LCD backlight (22) to turn on

the light.

into the film chamber (27).

LOADING THE FILM

If in sunlight, turn your back to the sun and

load the film in the shade of your body. The

unique EasyLoad feature of this camera

makes film loading simple.

1. Slide the film-door latch (9) in the

direction of the arrow to open the

film door (28).

3. Insert the film leader into the film slot

between the film-guide rails (25).

NOTE: You should be able to use the

film just as it comes out of the film carton

without pulling additional film out of

the cartridge.

The film-door-lock indicator (14)

turns amber to indicate the film

door is locked and the film is

correctly loaded.

After you close the safety inter-locked

film door and the film advances, you

cannot open the film door until the

film is completely rewound into the

film cartridge.

4. Rotate the cartridge completely to the

right to lay the film flat.

DIOPTER ADJUSTMENT

TAKING PICTURES

Use the diopter adjustment to customize the

viewfinder for your eyesight.

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover the lens/

lens cover (7) and to turn on the camera.

1. Point the camera at a well lit plain wall or

clear blue sky.

2. While looking through the viewfinder

eyepiece (11), turn the diopter dial (10)

until the auto-focus circle appears sharp.

2. For a sharp picture, stand at least

2 ft (0.6 m) from your subject.

4. Hold the camera steady and gently press

the shutter button (1) to take the picture.

Using the focus lock

2. Press the shutter button (1) halfway

down to lock the focus.

This camera automatically focuses on the

subject that is within the auto-focus circle of

the viewfinder. If you want to take a picture

with the subject positioned outside the auto-

focus circle, follow these instructions.

3. While still pressing the shutter button,

move the camera until your subject is

where you want it within the viewfinder

eyepiece (11).

Tips for better pictures

•

Keep the sun behind you. This provides

the best subject illumination.

Keep your hand, fingers, or objects away

from the flash and picture-taking lens.

Stand at an angle to shiny surfaces

like windows or mirrors to avoid flash

reflection and bright spots in

your pictures.

Use high-speed film (ISO 400 or

ISO 800) when you take telephoto

pictures to ensure your close-up

pictures are bright, colorful, and

properly exposed.

•

To avoid blurry pictures, hold your

camera steady by keeping your elbows

close to your body when you press the

shutter button.

•

Stand close enough to your subject so it

fills the viewfinder but not closer than

2 ft (0.6 m).

Take pictures at the subject’s level. Kneel

down to take pictures of children and

pets.

Hold your camera vertically to capture

tall, narrow subjects, such as a waterfall,

skyscraper, or a single person.

Add interest to your picture by framing it

with a tree branch, a window, or even the

rails of a fence.

USING THE ZOOM LENS

This camera has a motorized zoom lens that

lets you select the ideal lens-focal length for

taking pictures. It also has a longer flash

range at the telephoto position. When you

turn on the camera, the lens is initially set to

the wide-angle position.

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover

the lens/lens cover (7) and to turn

on the camera.

4. Press the shutter button (1) to take

the picture.

The lens barrel fully retracts and the

maximum distance or your pictures

will be dark.

FLASH MODES

Besides the auto-flash mode with red-eye

reduction (initial default setting of

the camera), you can select auto flash

without red-eye reduction, fill flash, flash off,

or nightview with or without flash. Choose

the flash mode that best suits your subject

and surroundings.

4. Hold the camera steady and gently press

the shutter button (1) completely down to

take the picture.

the camera by pressing the on/off

button when you are done

Selecting the flash modes

comes from behind the subject, dark

shadows (especially on faces) may occur.

Use fill flash to lighten these shadows and to

add sparkle to subject’s eyes.

until the auto-flash indicator (39) with

flash symbol (32), fill-flash symbol (32),

or flash-off symbol (33) appears on the

LCD panel (17).

or to capture the ambiance of existing light,

pictures of people at sunset or at night, or

existing light. The camera-warning

shutter speed is slow. In these situations—

use high-speed film, place the camera on a

tripod or another firm support, and hold your

camera steady to take a picture.

USING THE SELF-TIMER

Use this feature when you want to include

yourself in the picture.

4. Hold the camera steady and gently press

the shutter button (1) to take the picture.

1. Attach a tripod to the camera tripod

socket (20) or place it on another

firm support.

5. Quickly position yourself in the composed

picture making sure that you see the Self-

timer bulb (5) completely.

The self-timer bulb on the front of the

camera glows and then blinks during

the 10-second self-timer countdown.

The self-timer automatically cancels

after the shutter releases.

Some people’s eyes (and some pet’s) can

reflect flash with a red glow. To minimize red

eyes in flash pictures, use the red-eye-

reduction feature and have your subject look

Portrait mode

The portrait selection allows you to take

sharp, close-up pictures of people. In this

mode, the camera automatically zooms to

provide suitable framing for portraits. This

feature is available with or without

red-eye reduction.

Viewfinder

1. Press ON/OFF (23) to uncover the lens/

lens cover (7) and to turn on the camera.

4. Hold the camera steady and gently press

the shutter button (1) halfway down until

the zoom lens adjusts for suitable

framing and completely down to take a

picture.

2. Repeatedly press MODE (19) until the

portrait symbol (36) with the red-eye

reduction indicator (38) or just the

portrait symbol (36) appears on the

LCD panel (17).

•

All flash options are available in the

portrait mode.

3. Look through the viewfinder eye-

piece (11) and compose your picture

within the close-framing guides of the

viewfinder.

• The portrait mode with or without red-

eye reduction cancels after you take

the picture.

Manual rewind

UNLOADING THE FILM

Automatic rewind

If you don’t want to take pictures on the

entire roll of film, you can rewind the film.

But you will not be able to reload the film.

The camera automatically rewinds

the film into the film cartridge after

the last exposure.

1. Gently press REWIND (16) to start the

automatic film rewind.

1. Wait for the motor to stop running before

you open the Film door (28).

The film-motion indicator (40) blinks and

the frame counter (30) counts down as

the film is rewinding.

2. Open the film door, remove the film, and

reload with fresh KODAK Film.

The frame counter displays “0.”

Remove the battery when you store the

camera for an extended time.

CARING FOR YOUR CAMERA

•

Protect the camera from dust, moisture,

sudden impact, and excessive heat.

CAUTION: To prevent possible damage

and electrical shock, do not attempt to

disassemble or repair the camera or

flash unit by yourself.

CAUTION: Do not use solvents or harsh

or abrasive cleaners on the camera body.

If the lens appears dirty, breathe on it to

form a mist and wipe the surface gently

with a soft, lintless cloth or camera lens-

cleaning tissue. Never wipe a dry lens.

designed for cleaning camera lenses.

Do not use chemically treated tissues

intended for cleaning eyeglasses.

Esta cámara utiliza una batería de litio de 3

voltios KODAK KCR2 (o su equivalente)

AUTO

Use esta característica para tomar fotografías de

sujetos, que no sean personas, sin la función de

reducción de ojos rojos.

Además del modo de flash automático con

INSTALLATION DE

INSTALLATION DE LA PILE

Cet appareil requiert une Pile au lithium

KODAK KCR2 de 3 volts (ou l’équivalent),

laquelle fournit l’énergie nécessaire à toutes

les opérations.

1. Glissez une des extrémités de la

dragonne sous l’œillet de la dragonne (8),

puis tirez légèrement.

1. Faites glisser le couvercle du

compartiment de la pile (24) et soulevez-

le pour l’ouvrir.

2. Enfilez la plus longue extrémité de la

dragonne dans la petite boucle.

3. Tirez ensuite fermement.

Avant de retirer l’ancienne pile, mettez

l’appareil-photo hors tension.

2. Insérez la pile dans le compartiment de

la pile.

Il faut remplacer la pile lorsque :

Arrêt automatique

Cet appareil-photo se met automatiquement

en mode veille après plus de 4 minutes

d’inactivité pour préserver l’énergie de la

pile. Pour remettre l’appareil-photo sous

tension, appuyez sur MARCHE/ARRÊT

MODES FLASH

AUTO

Utilisez ce mode pour prendre des photos sans

l’option de réduction des yeux rouges lorsque

votre sujet n’est pas une personne.

Outre le mode de flash automatique avec

réduction des yeux rouges (mode par

défaut), vous pouvez choisir les modes de

flash sans réduction des yeux rouges, flash

d’appoint, flash désactivé ou encore vue

nocturne avec ou sans flash. Choisissez le

mode de flash qui convient le mieux à votre

sujet et à votre environnement.

Flash d’appoint

À l’intérieur ou à l’extérieur, la lumière vive

projetée sur des sujets éclairés à contre-jour

peut créer des ombres marquées (en

particulier sur les visages). Pour adoucir ces

ombres ou faire briller les yeux de vos

sujets, il suffit d’utiliser le flash d’appoint.

Appuyez de façon répétée sur EXPOSITION

(EXPOSURE) (21) pour voir les choix

apparaître sur le panneau ACL (17).

Flash désactivé

Lorsque vous ne voulez pas utiliser le flash,

notamment à l’intérieur dans les endroits où

on l’interdit ou pour saisir l’atmosphère

créée par la lumière ambiante, utilisez la

et flash désactivé, mettez l’appareil-

photo hors tension en appuyant sur

sélectionnez un autre mode de flash

en appuyant sur EXPOSITION

Le témoin du retardateur, placé sur le

devant de l’appareil, s’allume et

clignote pendant les 10 secondes du

compte à rebours.

Le retardateur se désactive

BOUTON DE MODE

AUTO

Les yeux de certaines personnes (et de certains

animaux) peuvent réfléchir le flash et ainsi

produire un éclat rouge sur les photos. Pour

minimiser les yeux rouges sur les photos prises

avec un flash, utilisez la fonction de réduction

des yeux rouges et demandez àvotre sujet de

regarder directement le témoin de réduction des

yeux rouges (5)jusqu’à l’extinction du flash.

Appuyez de façon répétée sur MODE (19)pour

sélectionner ou annuler le mode de réduction des

yeux rouges ou pour sélectionner le mode portrait

avec ou sans réduction des yeux rouges.

Le mode portrait vous permet de prendre des

photos nettes de personnages en gros plan.

Avec ce mode, l’appareil fait automatiquement

une mise au point rapprochée pour offrir le

meilleur cadrage en portrait. Ce mode peut être

utilisé avec ou sans réduction des yeux rouges.

RETRAIT DU FILM

Rembobinageautomatique

L’appareil-photo rembobine automatiquement le

film dans la cartouche une fois la dernière photo

prise.

•

Toutes les options de flash sont offertes

avec le mode portrait.

1. Attendez que le moteur soit complètement

arrêtépour ouvrir le couvercle du

compartiment du film (28).

•

La sélection du mode portrait avec ou

sans réduction des yeux rouges est

annulée une fois la photo prise.

•

L’indicateur de mouvement du film (40)

clignote et le compteur de poses (30)

affiche le compte à rebours au fur et à

mesure que le film se rembobine.

2. Ouvrez la porte, retirez le film de

l’appareil-photo, puis remplacez-le par

un nouveau Film KODAK.

Le compteur de poses affiche « 0 ».

2. Poursuivez avec les étapes 1 et 2 de la

Rembobinagemanuel

Si vous ne souhaitez pas prendre toutes les

photos du rouleau de film, vous pouvez

rembobiner le film. Toutefois, nous ne pourrez le

recharger.

1. Appuyez délicatement sur REMBOBINAGE

(REWIND) (16) pour actionner le dispositif de

rembobinage automatique.

ATTENTION : Utilisez des solvants ou des

produits spécialement conçus pour nettoyer

les objectifs d’appareil-photo. N’utilisez pas

de tissus traités chimiquement et destinés au

nettoyage des verres.

Retirez les piles lorsque vous entreposez

l’appareil-photo pour une longue période.

ENTRETIEN DE VOTRE

APPAREIL-PHOTO

Préservez votre appareil-photo de la

poussière, de l’humidité, des chocs et de la

chaleur excessive.

•

ATTENTION : N’utilisez pas de solvants ni de

produits rugueux ou abrasifs pour nettoyer le

boîtier de l’appareil-photo.

ATTENTION : Pour prévenir tout

dommage ou choc électrique, n’essayez

pas de démonter ni de réparer vous-

même l’appareil-photo ou le flash.

•

Si l’objectif est sale, placez-le devant

votre bouche, puis expirez légèrement

pour former une légère buée; nettoyez

ensuite à l’aide d’un linge doux, sans

charpie, ou d’un tissu nettoyant pour

objectif. N’essuyez jamais un objectif

à sec.
