These procedures should not   be attempted by "do-it-yourselfers."   GLASS BREAKAGE   SENSOR   MODE SWITCH   1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the   radio, then write down the frequencies for the   preset buttons.   AUTO LOCK   AUTO   MANUAL   SENSITIVITY   ADJUSTMENT   KNOB   2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.   3. Inside the passenger’s compartment, remove the   MAX   MIN   front console lower cover (four retaining clips).   SIREN   HORN   HORN/SIREN   SWITCH   FRONT CONSOLE   LOWER COVER   Mode Switch:   • Set the mode switch according to the customer’s   CLIP   choice.   If the vehicle you’re working on is equipped with an   optional ashtray with cigarette lighter, continue with   step 4, if not go to step 5.   • Refer to the Owner’s Manual for the explanation of   each mode.   Horn/Siren Switch:   4. Remove the ashtray with cigarette lighter, (two   self-tapping screws, one connector, and four   retaining clips).   • Set the switch to “HORN” in normal use. If an optional   siren is installed, set the switch to “SIREN.”   Glass Breakage Sensor:   ASHTRAYWITH   CIGARETTE LIGHTER   • Do not attach anything like scotch tape over the   holes; this is the microphone pickup.   Sensitivity Adjustment Knob:   • Adjust the sensitivity only if the customer requests   it; the sensitivity adjustment of the glass breakage   sensor is factory set.   CONNECTOR   • Be careful when you adjust the sensitivity; if you   raise the sensitivity too much, the security system   can give a false alarm, and if the sensitivity is too   low, the security system may not work even if   glass is broken.   SELF-TAPPING   SCREWS   CLIP   © 2000 American Honda Motor Co., Inc - All Rights Reserved.   All 21624 (0008)   3 of 12   5. Remove the left fuse box cover (three retaining   clips and two tabs).   7. Remove the right fuse box cover (three retaining   clips and two tabs).   11. Open the glove box, and remove the two screw   caps and seven self-tapping screws. Lower the steering wheel tilt lever. Remove the   upper and lower steering column covers (three   screws, six tabs, and one harness clip). Gently   push on the six retaining tabs, and separate the   two steering column covers.   10. Measure and mark the upper steering column   cover.   16. Locate the 2-pin connector included in the kit, and   lower the lock. Firmly push the LED terminals into   the 2-pin connector.   Insert.   Lock.   5.5 mm   DRILL   UPPER STEERING   COLUMN COVER   WHITEWIRE   20 mm   REDWIRE   17. Measure and mark the driver's dashboard lower   cover. (If necessary, remove the insulation.)   MARK   14. While wearing eye protection, lightly center-punch   the mark; then drill a 5.5 mm hole through the   upper steering column cover. Remove all burrs.   First drill with a   10 mm bit, then with   a 12 mm drill bit.   15. Route the terminal ends of the LED through the   hole you just drilled, and secure the LED with the   push nut. Install the push nut securely.   MARK   LED   BACK OF   DRIVER'S   25 mm   DASHBOARD   LOWER COVER   UPPER STEERING   COLUMN COVER   15 mm   18. While wearing eye protection, lightly center-punch   the mark; then drill a 12 mm hole through the   center-punched mark.   • • First drill a pilot hole with a 10 mm bit, then   finish with a 12 mm bit.   PUSH NUT   Remove all burrs.   PUSH NUT   6 of 12   All 21624 (0008)   © 2000 American Honda Motor Co., Inc - All Rights Reserved.   19. Route the terminal ends of the disarm switch   through the hole you just drilled, and secure it with   the washer and 12 mm nut from the kit.   21. Push the wire tie with clip into the hole in the back   of the control unit bracket. Position the control unit   bracket on the driver's dashboard lower cover, and   install the three self-tapping screws from the   attachment kit.   NUT   SELF-TAPPING   SCREW   WASHER   WIRE TIE   WITH CLIP   DRIVER'S   DASHBOARD LOWER   COVER   CONTROL   UNIT   BRACKET   DISARM SWITCH   BACK OF DRIVER'S   DASHBOARD   LOWER COVER   20. Locate the 3-pin connector included in the kit.   Firmly push the disarm switch terminals into the   3-pin connector until they click into position, and   lower the lock. Slide the white connector clip onto   the underside of the 3-pin connector.   22. Secure the disarm switch wire harness to the   disarm switch with one short wire tie, then attach   the harness to the driver's dashboard lower cover   with two halves of a cushion tape in the areas   shown. (Cut a cushion tape in half with scissors,   and use the two halves to secure the harness.)   26. Locate the two 2-pin connectors blue-taped to the   vehicle harness, and remove the blue tapes to free   the connectors. Plug the 2-pin connectors you just   freed into the 2-pin connectors of the security   system wire harness. Connect the blue 2-pin   connector of the vehicle harness to the blue 2-pin   connector of the security system wire harness.   24. Push the clip on the 3-pin connector of the disarm   switch into the hole in the control unit bracket.   25. From the driver's side, route the 14-pin connectors   of the security system wire harness to the left fuse   box. Remove the upper bolt that fastens the engine   hood opener, and attach the ground terminal of the   security system wire harness with the ground bolt   from the kit.   31. Locate the 2-pin connector blue-taped to the   vehicle harness 18-pin connector, and remove the   blue tape to free the connector. Connect the 2-pin   connector you just freed to the 2-pin connector of   the security system wire harness.   29. Plug the 1-pin connector (white) of the security   system wire harness into the No. 5 connector of   the fuse box.   30. Under the dashboard at the fuse box, locate the   4-pin connector blue-taped to the vehicle harness   (22-pin connector), and remove the blue tape to   free the connector. Remove the clip from the hole in the left knee   bolster, use a utility knife to cut the clip off of the   vehicle harness. Take care not to damage the   vehicle harness.   37. Assemble three fuse cases as shown. Attach the   appropriate fuse label to each fuse case of the   security system wire harness, then attach the red   connector clip as shown.   5-PIN RELAY   38. Plug the 6-pin and 4-pin connectors of the security   system wire harness into the 5-pin and 4-pin   RED   relays; then attach the relay bracket to the steering   hanger beam with one 6 x 12 mm washer-bolt and   6 mm flange nut. Plug the 3-pin connector of the security system   wire harness into the 3-pin connector of the disarm   switch harness. Plug the 22-pin connector of the   security system wire harness into the control unit;   then reinstall the driver's dashboard lower cover.   46. Route the sub-harness along the vehicle harness.   Inside the glove box, locate the 2-pin connector   blue-taped to the vehicle harness, and remove the   blue tape to free the connector. Secure the sub-harness to the vehicle with three   short wire ties.   48. Open the hood, and attach the cover on the   bulkhead center stay.   44. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.   45. Push the clip of the sub-harness 4-pin connector   into the hole in the right front inner lower pillar.   52. Enter the customer’s radio anti-theft code, if   applicable, and reset the radio station presets.   53. Reset the clock.   54.
