3. personal safety
a. stay alert, watch what you are
doing and use common sense
when operating a power tool. do
not use a power tool while you

moment of inattention while operat-
ing power tools may result in serious

has been approved by an appro-
priate standards agency. Unap-

and breathing protection must be

ment such as dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protection used for appropriate con-
ditions will reduce personal injuries.
4. power tool use and care
a. do not force the power tool. use
the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool
will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it was designed.
c. prevent unintentional starting.
ensure the switch is in the off-
position before connecting to
power source and/or battery pack,
picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger
on the switch or energizing power
tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
b. do not use the power tool if the
switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be con-
trolled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
c. disconnect the battery pack from
the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accesso-
ries, or storing power tools. Such
preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the power tool ac-
cidentally.
d. remove any adjusting key or
wrench before turning the power
tool on. A wrench or a key left at-
tached to a rotating part of the power
tool may result in personal injury.
e. do not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times.
This enables better control of the
power tool in unexpected situations.
d. store idle power tools out of the
reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power
tool or these instructions to oper-
ate the power tool. Power tools are

paired before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained
power tools.
avoid contact. if contact acciden-
tally occurs, flush with water. If
liquid contacts eyes, additionally
seek medical help. Liquid ejected
from the battery may cause irritation
or burns.

f. Keep cutting tools sharp and
clean. Properly maintained cutting
tools with sharp cutting edges are
less likely to bind and are easier to
control.

a qualified repair person using
only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
g. use the power tool, accessories
and blades etc. in accordance
with these instructions, taking
into account the working condi-
tions and the work to be per-
formed. Use of the power tool
for operations different from those
intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
Circular saw safety warnings
1.
danger: Keep hands away
from cutting area and the blade.
Keep your second hand on auxil-
iary handle, or motor housing. If
both hands are holding the saw, they
cannot be cut by the blade.
5. Battery tool use and care
2. do not reach underneath the work-
piece. The guard cannot protect you
from the blade below the workpiece.
a. recharge only with the charger
specified by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type
of battery pack may create a risk of
fire when used with another battery
pack.
3. adjust the cutting depth to the
thickness of the workpiece. Less
than a full tooth of the blade teeth
should be visible below the work-
piece.
b. Use power tools only with specifi-
cally designated battery packs.
Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.
4. never hold piece being cut in your
hands or across your leg. secure
the workpiece to a stable platform.
It is important to support the work
properly to minimize body exposure,
blade binding, or loss of control.
c. when battery pack is not in use,
keep it away from other metal ob-
jects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal
objects, that can make a connec-
tion from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals to-
gether may cause burns or a fire.
5. Hold power tool by insulated grip-
ping surfaces when performing an
operation where the cutting tool
may contact hidden wiring. Contact
with a″ live″ wire will also make ex-
posed metal parts of the power tool ″
live″ and shock the operator.
d. under abusive conditions, liquid
may be ejected from the battery;

6. when ripping always use a rip
fence or straight edge guide. This
improves the accuracy of cut and
reduces the chance of blade binding.
forces. position your body to
either side of the blade, but not in
line with the blade. Kickback could
cause the saw to jump backwards,
but kickback forces can be controlled
by the operator, if proper precautions
are taken.
7. always use blades with correct
size and shape (diamond versus
round) of arbor holes. Blades that
do not match the mounting hardware
of the saw will run eccentrically, caus-
ing loss of control.
b. when blade is binding, or when
interrupting a cut for any reason,
release the trigger and hold the
saw motionless in the material un-
til the blade comes to a complete
stop. never attempt to remove
the saw from the work or pull the
saw backward while the blade is
in motion or kickback may occur.
Investigate and take corrective ac-
tions to eliminate the cause of blade
binding.
8. never use damaged or incorrect
blade washers or bolt. The blade
washers and bolt were specially
designed for your saw, for optimum
performance and safety of operation.
9. Causes and operator prevention
of Kickback:
• Kickback is a sudden reaction to a
pinched, bound or misaligned saw
blade, causing an uncontrolled saw
to lift up and out of the workpiece
toward the operator;
c. when restarting a saw in the
workpiece, center the saw blade
in the kerf and check that saw
teeth are not engaged into the
material. If saw blade is binding, it
may walk up or kickback from the
workpiece as the saw is restarted.
• When the blade is pinched or bound
tightly by the kerf closing down, the
blade stalls and the motor reaction
drives the unit rapidly back toward
the operator;
d. support large panels to minimize
the risk of blade pinching and
kickback. Large panels tend to sag
under their own weight. Supports
must be placed under the panel on
both sides, near the line of cut and
near the edge of the panel.
• If the blade becomes twisted or
misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the
back edge of the blade can dig into
the top surface of the wood causing
the blade to climb out of the kerf and
jump back toward the operator.
e. do not use dull or damaged
blades. Unsharpened or improp-
erly set blades produce narrow kerf
causing excessive friction, blade
binding and kickback.
Kickback is the result of saw misuse
and/or incorrect operating procedures
or conditions and can be avoided by
taking proper precautions as given
below:
f. Blade depth and bevel adjusting
locking levers must be tight and
secure before making cut. If blade
adjustment shifts while cutting, it
may cause binding and kickback.

hands on the saw and position
your arms to resist kickback

g. use extra caution when making
a ″plunge cut″ into existing walls
or other blind areas. The protrud-
ing blade may cut objects that can
cause kickback.

angles and depths of cut.

17. wet lumber, green (unseasoned)
lumber, and pressure treated lum-
ber all have an increased potential
for kickback and should only be
cut with a blade for cutting that
lumber type. wear a niosH-ap-
proved respirator and have appro-
priate ventilation whenever cutting
pressure treated lumber.
11. Check the operation of the lower
guard spring. if the guard and the
spring are not operating properly,
they must be serviced before use.
Lower guard may operate sluggishly
due to damaged parts, gummy de-
posits, or a build-up of debris.
18. do not use blades made from high-
speed steel, abrasive blades, or
metal- or masonry-cutting blades.
The guards of this saw are not de-
signed to protect against the failure of
such blades.
12. lower guard should be retracted
manually only for special cuts
such as ″plunge cuts″ and ″com-
pound cuts.″ Raise lower guard by
retracting handle and as soon as
blade enters the material, the lower
guard must be released. For all
other sawing, the lower guard should
operate automatically.
19. place the larger portion of the saw
base on the larger, supported part
of the workpiece. This will help
maintain balance and control while
the cut is completed.
13. always observe that the lower
guard is covering the blade before
placing saw down on bench or
floor. An unprotected, coasting blade
will cause the saw to walk back-

parts can grab the surface and pull
the tool out of your control.
27. This product is not a toy. Keep it out
of reach of children.
28. Verify that there are no utility lines or
hardware in or near the workpiece.
This is especially critical for plunge
cuts.
23. When using a handheld power tool,
maintain a firm grip on the tool with
both hands to resist starting torque.

charger’s heat can build

the right side of the Base Plate up
as far as possible. The Bevel Mark
should line up with the 0 line on the

the Bevel Stop Bolt.

a. remove Battery pack.
b. adjust Blade depth to extend be-
yond bottom of workpiece by 1/4”
or less. lock depth Knob after
adjustment.
c. make sure that all guards are in
place and in proper working order.
d. tighten all knobs/bolts securely.
e. tighten Blade Bolt. (Blade Bolt
may loosen when the automatic
blade brake engages.)
2. Install fully charged Battery Pack
(67029, sold separately) into base at
back of handle.
3. Hold the saw with one hand on the
Front Handle and the other hand on
the Handle.
4. Align Saw on cut line with the larger
part of the workpiece to the left of the
Saw Blade.
5. Push the Trigger Lock to one side
and squeeze the Trigger.
6. Allow the Blade to come up to full
speed before contacting the work-
piece.
7. After completing the cut, release the
trigger. Make sure that the Movable
Guard closes immediately.
8. To prevent accidents, turn off the tool
and disconnect the Battery Pack after
use. Clean, then store the tool in-
doors out of children’s reach.

Harbor Freight Tools Co. makes every effort to assure that its products meet high
quality and durability standards, and warrants to the original purchaser that this prod-
uct is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the period of 90 days from
the date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage due directly or indirectly,
to misuse, abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside our facilities,
criminal activity, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance.
We shall in no event be liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental,
contingent, special or consequential damages arising from the use of our product. Some
states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so
the above limitation of exclusion may not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESS-
Ly IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER wARRANTIES, ExPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDINg THE
wARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITy AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with
transportation charges prepaid. Proof of purchase date and an explanation of the com-
plaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection verifies the defect, we will ei-
ther repair or replace the product at our election or we may elect to refund the purchase
price if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement. We will return re-
paired products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect
resulted from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost
of returning the product.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights
which vary from state to state.
