TURNING THE FR370 ON/OFF
The FR370 is powered with 3 AAA batteries, the Dynamo and Solar cell and
the AC adapter (not included). To turn the radio on, select DYNAMO, SOLAR,
or BATTERY (located on the right side of the radio) and then press POWER.
NOTE: The radio can be played while it’s charging. It is not advised to
set the <Power Supply Knob> to “PHONE CHARGER” position for an
extended period of time.
BATTERY POWER (3 AAA BATTERIES)
Install 3 AAA batteries using the polarity diagram inside the battery
compartment (on the back of the radio). To turn on the radio using
AAA batteries, set the <Power Supply> knob to the “BATTERY” position.
SOLAR POWER
When you’re in direct sunlight (not through a window or in the shade)
set the power switch to the SOLAR position. This position also recharges
the Ni-MH rechargeable battery.

DYNAMO POWER
(RECHARGEABLE Ni-MH BATTERIES)
The rechargeable Ni-MH (nickel-metal-hydride) battery is in the battery
compartment. To use it plug the battery into the socket adjacent to it, then
set the power switch to the DYNAMO position. You may have to charge the
battery; to do this turn the crank for 90 seconds. The rechargeable battery
will eventually lose its ability to hold a charge. Call Eton Corporation to order
another one.

Plug in the AC adapter (5 Volt, positive polarity, 300 milliampere, not
included) to the DC IN 5 volt socket. To charge the Ni-MH battery, set the
<Power Supply> knob to “DYNAMO.” In the United States, an AC adapter
can be purchased by calling 1-800-872-2228, 8 am - 4:30 pm, Pacific Time.
USB CABLE POWER
To charge the Ni-MH battery via the USB port (DC-IN), set the <Power
Supply> knob to the “DYNAMO” position. Plug the USB cable port into the
computer, plug the other port into the mini USB jack. The electricity will be
powered into the Ni-MH batteries.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
REGARDING CHARGING
• How much operating time does 90 seconds of hand cranking provide for
the radio to play? About 5 to 7 minutes, at low volume.
• How long does it take to fully charge the radio’s battery with the AC
adapter? About 5 hours.
• How long will the radio play when charged with the AC adapter?
About 3 to 4 hours, at low volume.
• How long does it take to fully charge the radio’s battery with the solar
panel? About 10 hrs in direct sunlight.
(not through a window or in the shade).
CHARGING CELL PHONES
If your cell phone has a USB charging cord, you can use it. If not, you can
1-888-205-0093. Purchase USB charging cable model# PS00271-0003
and have the brand and model of your cell phone ready to purchase the tip.
Set the <Power Supply> knob to “PHONE CHARGER.” Plug the USB cell
phone charging cord into the USB PHONE CHARGER jack (located under
the rubber cover on the back of the radio.). Plug the other end of the cord
into the cell phone charging tip and then into the jack of the cell phone.
The FR370 will only charge your cell phone if the battery indicator shows
it at full, or two bars. To charge your cell phone with a low battery, turn
the crank for 10 minutes at 130 rpm to charge the cell phone enough to
talk for about 5 minutes.
NOTE: When charging a cell phone via the USB cell phone charger, it is
important to turn the crank at least 2 revolutions per second, or until you
see the green or orange LED above the crank handle turn on. This is an
indication that the phone is receiving enough power from the radio. Con-
tinue to crank at this rate until you are satisfied that an appropriate level of
charge has been received by your cell phone. If you decide to stop cranking
for whatever reason, please wait at least 5 seconds before beginning to
crank again. Not following these instructions may cause damage to your cell
phone for which Eton disclaims any liability and will not be held liable for
any actual or consequential damages related to this matter.

Turn the Volume Adjusting Knob (located in the front, below the display)
clockwise to turn up the volume; counterclockwise turns down the volume.
Always turn down the volume before using earphones.

Press <ON/OFF/ALARM> button shortly to activate or deactivate the alarm.
If the alarm function is activated, the symbol “ “ will be on the display.
When the alarm time is reached, the unit will beep. If the alarm function
is deactivated, the alarm symbol “ “ will disappear.

AM/FM BROADCAST RECEPTION
Turn on the radio. Press the AM/FM button, AM or FM will appear on the
display with the frequency to the right of it, in KHz for AM and in MHz for
FM. Press the
buttons quickly to tune individual frequencies, hold
to
tune automatically to the next frequency. Pull up the telescopic antenna to
hear FM frequencies.
The AM ferrite bar antenna is built-in to the radio, so no telescopic antenna
is needed for AM reception.
• FM tuning range: 87.5 to 108 MHz.
• AM tuning range: 520 to 1710 KHz.
RECEPTION OF NOAA
WEATHER BAND FREQUENCIES
To hear your local weather station, pull up the antenna, turn on the radio
and press the WB button located above the display. Turn up the volume and
press the
buttons to go through all 7 weather channels. WB and CH
appear at the top of the display, with 1-7 next to CH. You’ll probably only
hear one channel, but if you hear a weather broadcast on more than one,
select the strongest. The strongest one will usually be your local weather
station. Below are the frequencies that correspond to the radio’s channels:

The weather frequencies are on channels WB1 through WB7. Try all of them
and find the one that’s strongest; the strongest one is your weather station.
The frequencies associated with them are:
WB1; Channel 1 162.400 MHz
WB2; Channel 2 162.425 MHz
WB3; Channel 3 162.450 MHz
WB4; Channel 4 162.475 MHz
WB5; Channel 5 162.500 MHz
WB6; Channel 6 162.525 MHz
WB7; Channel 7 162.550 MHz
SETTING WEATHER ALERTS
Tune to your local NOAA Weather frequency at a volume you wish to hear.
Press the <ALERT/WB> button at the top of the radio. The ALERT light shines
in the upper left corner of the radio. The audio will disappear, but the radio is
still on, monitoring the NOAA Weather station until an alert appears. When
it appears, you are alerted by a SIREN or a VOICE. Immediately press the WB
button to hear the alert.
NOAA false alert note: False NOAA alerts may occur at various times of day
as the result of circumstances beyond the control of the manufacturer of this re-
ceiver. If you receive such alerts, we suggest that you turn the ALERT feature off.
ACTIVATE OR DEACTIVATE THE ALERT
When the alert function is on, “ALERT siren” or “ALERT voice” appears
in the diaplay. In the radio off mode, press and hold the button <ON/OFF/
ALERT>, when “ALERT siren” or “ALERT voice” flashes, press the button
or repeatedly with “ALERT ON” or “ALERT OFF” in the display. If you
want to turn on the alert function, select “ALERT ON.” If you want to turn
off the alart function, select “ALERT OFF”. Finally, press <MENU> button
to confirm.

A six-digit code instructs the radio only to receive an ALERT when the
code is programmed in. There are far too many S.A.M.E and CLC codes
to include them all in this manual. We therefore provide the following
to assist you in looking up the code for your area.
Look up a United States county code at the following web site:
weatheradio/transmitter/index_e.cfm Your radio can be set for one (SINGL)
to 23 (MULTI) codes, or can be set to receive ALL coded information sent
from any transmitter, if you’re within range. When you set codes, it will only
pick up alerts when you’re in that county or within reception distance of the
signal. ALL, MULTI or SINGLE COUNTY will appear in the lower left side of
the display, depending on how you have set it.

TURNING THE ALARM ON AND OFF
With the radio on or off press the ALARM ON/OFF button. Notice that when

to “OFF” position, the light will be off.
If you are emergency, you can use the alarm light to get help. Set the
<Light Button> to “SOS” position, the red light will be on.Set the button
to “OFF” position, the red light will be off.
EARPHONE JACK
Located on the back of the radio, the fourth socket from the left. Plug in
any stereo earphones. Audio is heard in mono only. Always turn down the
volume when plugging in earphone/headphones, then turn it up.
AUDIO-IN JACK
Located on the back of the radio, the fifth socket from the left, it
enables you to listen to other devices, such as an iPod, using a stereo
3.5 mm (1/8 inch) cord to connected to it.

ALLUMER ET ÉTEINDRE LE FR370
Le FR370 peut être alimenté par 3 piles AAA, la Dynamo, le Panneau
solaire ou un Adaptateur secteur (non fourni). Pour allumer l’appareil,
sélectionnez DYNAMO, SOLAR (panneau solaire) ou BATTERY (piles)
avec le sélecteur d’alimentation (côté droit de l’appareil), puis appuyez
sur le bouton d’alimentation POWER.
REMARQUE : Vous pouvez écouter la radio pendant que sa batterie est
en recharge. Il n’est pas conseillé de mettre le sélecteur d’alimentation à
“PHONE CHARGER“ la position pendant une longue période de temps.
ALIMENTATION PAR PILES (3 PILES AAA)
Installez 3 piles AAA en respectant les polarités indiquées dans le comparti-
ment des piles (au dos de l’appareil). Pour alimenter l’appareil avec ces piles
AAA, positionnez le sélecteur d’alimentation sur BATTERY (piles).
ALIMENTATION AVEC LE PANNEAU SOLAIRE
Quand l’appareil est exposé à la lumière directe du Soleil (et non derrière
une vitre ou à l’ombre), positionnez le sélecteur d’alimentation sur
SOLAR (panneau solaire). Cela permet également de recharger la
batterie rechargeable Ni-MH.

ALIMENTATION AVEC LA DYNAMO
(BATTERIE RECHARGEABLE Ni-MH)
La batterie rechargeable Ni-MH (nickel – hydrure métallique) se trouve dans
un compartiment spécifique de l’appareil. Pour l’utiliser, branchez la batterie
dans la prise située à son côté, puis positionnez le sélecteur d’alimentation
sur DYNAMO. Pour recharger manuellement la batterie, tournez la manivelle
pendant 90 secondes. Au fil du temps, la batterie perd sa capacité à tenir la
charge. Contactez Eton Corporation pour commander une batterie neuve
quand elle ne tient plus la charge.

REMARQUES CONCERNANT LA RECHARGE
• Quelle autonomie une recharge manuelle de 90 secondes permet-elle
pour écouter la radio ? 5 à 7 minutes environ, à faible volume.
• Combien de temps faut-il pour recharger complètement la batterie de
l’appareil avec l’adaptateur secteur ? Environ 5 heures.
• Une fois l’appareil rechargé avec l’adaptateur secteur, quelle est son
autonomie ? 3 à 4 heures environ, à faible volume.
• Combien de temps faut-il pour recharger complètement la batterie de
l’appareil avec le panneau solaire ? 10 heures environ si l’appareil est
exposé à la lumière directe du Soleil. (et non derrière une vitre ou
à l’ombre).
RECHARGER UN TÉLÉPHONE PORTABLE
Si votre téléphone portable est équipé d’un câble de recharge USB,
utilisez-le. Dans le cas contraire, vous pouvez en acheter un sur le site
adaptateur et un câble pour votre téléphone portable, rendez-vous sur le
de câble de recharge USB PS00271-0003. Veillez à pouvoir fournir la
marque et le modèle de votre téléphone portable lorsque vous achetez un
embout adaptateur pour votre téléphone portable.
Positionnez le sélecteur d’alimentation sur PHONE CHARGER (CHARGEUR
DE TÉLÉPHONE). Branchez le câble USB de recharge du téléphone portable
dans le port USB du CHARGEUR DE TÉLÉPHONE (situé sous le capuchon
en caoutchouc au dos de la radio). Branchez l’autre extrémité du câble sur
l’embout adaptateur approprié, puis sur le port de recharge du téléphone
portable. Le FR370 ne recharge votre téléphone portable que si son voyant
batterie indique une charge d’au moins 100%, soit deux traits. Si la charge
de la batterie est inférieure et que vous désirez recharger votre téléphone
portable, tournez la manivelle pendant 10 minutes à 130 tr/min pour don-
ner au téléphone environ 5 minutes d’autonomie de communication.
REMARQUE : Pour recharger un téléphone portable avec le chargeur de portable
USB, vous devez tourner la manivelle à la vitesse minimale de 2 tours par seconde
ou jusqu’à ce que la LED verte ou orange présente au-dessus de la manivelle
s’allume. Cela indique que le téléphone reçoit une alimentation suffisante de
la radio. Continuez à tourner la manivelle à la même vitesse jusqu’à ce que le
téléphone soit suffisamment rechargé. Si vous décidez d’arrêter de tourner la
manivelle pour quelque raison que ce soit, attendez au minimum 5 secondes
avant de recommencer à la tourner. Le non-respect de ces instructions peut pro-
voquer la détérioration de votre téléphone portable, détérioration pour laquelle

RÉGLER LE VOLUME
Tournez le bouton du volume (situé sur la façade avant de l’appareil sous son
écran) vers la droite pour monter le volume ou vers la gauche pour le baisser.

se règle automatiquement sur la station suivante. Déployez entièrement
l’antenne télescopique pour écouter la bande FM.
Cela n’est pas nécessaire pour écouter la bande AM, car l’antenne en barre de
ferrite de réception des fréquences AM se trouve à l’intérieur de l’appareil.

. WB et CH s’affichent en haut de l’écran, ainsi qu’un chiffre compris
entre 1 et 7 (à côté de CH). Il est probable que vous ne puissiez recevoir
qu’une seule fréquence. Si vous pouvez capter plusieurs fréquences météo,
choisissez celle dont la réception est la plus claire, Car il s’agit en général de
votre fréquence locale. Les fréquences des stations météo WB1 à WB7 sont
indiquées ci-dessous :

RÉGLER LES ALERTES MÉTÉO
Réglez votre radio sur la fréquence météo locale de la NOAA et réglez le
volume sur le niveau souhaité. Appuyez sur la touche ALERT/WB présente en
haut de l’appareil. Le témoin de la fonction ALERTE du coin supérieur gauche
de l’appareil s’allume. Vous n’entendez plus la radio, mais elle est toujours
allumée et surveille la fréquence météo de la NOAA pour réagir aux alertes
météo éventuelles. En cas d’alerte, l’appareil émet une SIRÈNE ou UNE VOIX.
Appuyez immédiatement sur la touche WB pour écouter l’alerte.
Fausse alerte : Il peut y avoir de fausses alertes pour des raisons échappant au
contrôle du fabricant de ce récepteur. Si cela se produit, nous vous recomman-
dons d’éteindre la fonction ALERTE.
ACTIVER OU DÉSACTIVER LA FONCTION ALERTE
Quand la fonction alerte est activée, l’écran affiche « ALERT siren » (sirène)
ou « ALERT voice » (voix). Quand le mode radio est éteint, maintenez la

Un code à six chiffres indique à la radio de ne recevoir que les ALERTES
correspondant à de code. Il y a trop de codes S.A.M.E et CLC pour que nous
puissions tous les indiquer dans ce mode d’emploi. Nous vous conseillons
de vous rendre sur les sites suivants pour connaître le code de votre zone
géographique.

Votre radio peut être paramétrée pour un (SINGL) à 23 (MULTI) codes. Elle
peut être également paramétrée pour recevoir TOUTES les informations
codées transmises par tous les émetteurs à portée. Si vous paramétrez
uniquement certains codes, la radio ne réagit qu’aux alertes des zones
géographiques correspondant à ces codes, dans les limites de sa portée de
réception. ALL (tous), MULTI ou SINGLE (unique) COUNTY (comté) s’affiche
dans le coin inférieur gauche de l’écran en fonction de votre paramétrage.

PRISE ÉCOUTEURS
C’est la quatrième prise à partir de la gauche au dos de la radio. Branchez-y
des écouteurs stéréo. Le signal sonore transmis aux écouteurs est monopho-
nique. Baissez toujours le volume avant de brancher des écouteurs/casque,
montez ensuite le volume.
PRISE D’ENTRÉE AUDIO
C’est la cinquième prise à partir de la gauche au dos de la radio. Elle vous
permet de brancher une source audio externe pour l’écouter (par exemple
un iPod) à l’aide d’un câble muni d’un connecteur de 3,5 mm.

ENCENDER Y APAGAR EL FR370
El FR370 está alimentado por 3 pilas AAA, la dinamo, el panel solar y el
adaptador de alimentación (no incluido). Para encender la radio, seleccione
DYNAMO (Dinamo), SOLAR (Panel solar) o BATTERY (Pilas) con el selector
ubicado en el lado derecho de la radio y luego presione el botón POWER
(Encendido/apagado).
Nota: No obstante, le será posible utilizar la radio durante el proceso de
carga. No se recomienda establecer el modo <Power Supply> a la posición
“PHONE CHARGER” durante un período prolongado de tiempo.

Instale 3 pilas AAA haciendo coincidir los polos con la polaridad indicada en

La batería recargable de Ni-MH (níquel-hidruro metálico) está ubicada en
el compartimento de las pilas. Para usarla, enchufe la batería en el zócalo
adyacente a la misma y desplace el selector de alimentación a la posición
“DYNAMO”. Puede que tenga que cargar la batería. Para ello, dele vueltas
a la manivela durante 90 segundos. La batería recargable irá perdiendo su
capacidad de mantener la carga con el tiempo. Llame a Eton Corporation
para pedir otra.

¿Cuánto tiempo puede funcionar la radio al girar la manivela durante 90
segundos? De 5 a 7 minutos a un volumen bajo.
¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en cargar completamente la batería de la radio
con el adaptador de alimentación? Alrededor de 5 horas.
¿Cuánto tiempo funcionará la radio cuando se carga con el adaptador
de alimentación? De 3 a 4 horas a un volumen bajo.
¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en cargar completamente la batería de la radio
con el panel solar? Alrededor de 10 horas bajo la luz directa del sol
(no a través de una ventana o a la sombra).
CÓMO CARGAR TELÉFONOS MÓVILES
Si su teléfono móvil se suministra con cable USB de carga, podrá utilizarlo si
205-0093. Para comprar un conector y un cable de carga para su teléfono
USB de carga modelo n.º PS00271-0003 y tenga a mano la marca y modelo
de su teléfono móvil, ya que esta información le será necesaria para adquirir
el adaptador adecuado.
Ajuste el selector <Power Supply> a la posición “CHARGER PHONE”
(Cargador de móvil). Conecte el cable USB de carga del teléfono móvil a la
toma del CARGADOR USB DEL TELEFÓNO MÓVIL (Ubicado bajo la cubierta
de goma en la parte posterior de la radio). Acople el conector de carga del
móvil al otro extremo del cable y a la toma de recarga del móvil. El FR370
sólo se cargará su teléfono móvil si el indicador de la batería se muestra a la
mitad o con dos barras. Para cargar su teléfono móvil con una batería baja,
gire la manivela durante 10 minutos a 130rpm, de manera que le permita
cargar el móvil para poder hablar durante 5 minutos.
NOTA: Al cargar un teléfono celular a través del cargador USB para
teléfono móvil, es importante girar la manivela por lo menos 2 revoluciones
por segundo, o hasta que vea iluminada el indicador de luz verde o naranja
encima de la manivela. Esto es una indicación de que el teléfono está
recibiendo suficiente alimentación de la radio. Continúe dando vueltas a la
manivela a este ritmo hasta consiga un nivel adecuado de carga en su telé-
fono móvil. Si usted decide dejar de dar vueltas a la manivela por cualquier
motivo, espere al menos 5 segundos antes de comenzar a darle vueltas de
nuevo. El incumplimiento de estas instrucciones puede causar daños a su
teléfono móvil, de los que Eton exime cualquier responsabilidad y no se
hace responsable de los daños reales o resultantes por este motivo.

Las frecuencias correspondientes a las informaciones meteorológicas se
encuentran disponibles en los canales WB1 a WB7. Pruébelos todos y
encuentre aquel cuya señal es la más potente. El canal que emita con una
señal más fuerte corresponderá a su estación meteorológica más cercana.
Las frecuencias relacionadas con estos canales son las siguientes:
WB1: Canal 1 162.400MHz
WB2: Canal 2 162.425MHz
WB3: Canal 3 162.450MHz
WB4: Canal 4 162.475MHz
WB5: Canal 5 162.500MHz

AJUSTE DE LAS ALERTAS METEOROLÓGICAS
Sintonice la frecuencia local NOAA al volumen que desee. Pulse el botón
<ALERT/WB> en la parte superior de la radio. El indicador luminoso de alerta
se iluminará en la esquina superior izquierda de la radio. El audio se desacti-
vará, pero la radio seguirá encendida, mediante el monitoreo de la estación
meteorológica de la NOAA hasta que haya una alerta. La unidad le avisará
con una sirena o una voz cuando haya una alerta. Pulse inmediatamente el
botón WB para escuchar la alerta.
Nota de alerta falsa de la NOAA: Los alertas falsas de la NOAA pueden
ocurrir en distintos momentos del día como resultado de circunstancias fuera
del control del fabricante de este receptor. Si usted recibe este tipo de alertas,
le sugerimos que apague la alerta.
ACTIVACIÓN O DESACTIVACIÓN DE ALERTA
Cuando la función de alerta está activada, la pantalla mostrará “ALERT
siren” (Alerta de sirena) o “ALERT voice” (Alerta de voz). Cuando la
radio está apagada, mantenga presionado el botón <ON/OFF/ALERT>.

Un código de seis dígitos instruye a la radio la recepción de alertas
únicamente cuando el código está programado. Hay demasiados códigos
S.A.M.E. y CLC para poder incluirlos a todos en este manual. Por este motivo
le ofrecemos la siguiente información para ayudarle a buscar el código de
su área.
Busque un código de un condado de los Estados Unidos en el siguiente

La radio se puede ajustar para aceptar de uno (SINGL) hasta 23 (MULTI)
códigos, o bien se puede configurar para recibir toda la información
codificada enviada desde cualquier transmisor, si está dentro del alcance.
Cuando estable los códigos, sólo se recogerán las alertas cuando esté en ese
condado o a una distancia de recepción de la señal. La pantalla mostrará ALL
(Todo), MULTI (Varios) o SINGLE COUNTY en la parte inferior izquierda de la
pantalla, dependiendo de cómo lo haya configurado.

SALIDA DE AURICULARES
La salida de auriculares está situada en la parte posterior de la radio, la cuarta
conexión desde a izquierda. Conecte unos auriculares estéreos en la salida
de auriculares. El sonido se emitirá únicamente en modo monoaural. Baje
siempre el volumen al conectar auriculares y súbalo a continuación.
ENTRADA DE AUDIO
La entrada de audio está situado en la parte posterior de la radio, la quinto
conexión desde la izquierda, y le permite escuchar otros dispositivos, tales como
un iPod, con un cable estéreo de 3,5mm (1/8 pulgadas) conectado a ella.
