If your answerer has recorded incom ing m essages, the MESSAGES indicator will
flash once for each m essage received followed by a brief pause.

Make sure AC power adapter is
plugged in to a working outlet.

Press and release the PLAY/STOP button to play m essages (use VOLUME
control to adjust speaker volum e). The answerer plays all m essages, autom ati-
cally resets, and is ready to record new m essages over the old m essages on the
tape. To begin recording new m essages over old m essages at the beginning of
the tape, see "Clearing New Messages from the Tape" below.

TAPE FULL

Turn up the VOLUME.
When the tape is full, the MESSAGES indicator flashes rapidly and the unit answers
on the tenth ring. Enter the security code (located on the bottom of the unit) and
m essages play autom atically. Enter the security code again to listen to m essages
again. If the caller does not enter the security code within ten seconds, the unit
hangs up. After you play m essages and hang up, the answerer resets and new
m essages will be recorded over the m essages you already played.
1. Rem ove door by lifting it from the back edge.
2. Insert the cassette tape with side ”A” facing up.
Clean the tape m echanism .
3. Connect your telephone’s line cord into the jack m arked FROM TELEPHONE on
the back of the unit. (You don’t have to connect your telephone for the answerer
to record incom ing m essages.)

CLEARING THE MESSAGES FROM THE TAPE
Press the PLAY/STOP button to play m essages and return the tape to the begin-
ning. The m essages indicator light stops blinking. New incom ing m essages will
record over existing m essages on the tape. The m essages are autom atically
cleared, but you can press PLAY/STOP to hear the m essages again until an
incom ing call records over them .

To keep your answerer working and looking good, follow these guidelines:
IMPORTANT: Press any button or turn the volume to OFF to stop the answerer
from recording your conversation.
RECORDING THE OUTGOING ANNOUNCEMENT
Before using your new answerer you should record an outgoing announcem ent.
This is the announcem ent that the callers will hear when the system answers a call.
FCC REGISTRATION INFORMATION
•
Avoid putting it near heating appliances and devices that generate electrical
noise (for exam ple, m otors or fluorescent lam ps).
DO NOT expose to direct sunlight or m oisture.
Your GE telephone equipm ent is registered with the Federal Com m unications Com m ission and is in com pliance
with parts 15 and 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.

Notification to the Local Telephone Com pany

On the bottom of this equipm ent is a label indicating, am ong other inform ation, the FCC Registration
num ber and Ringer Equivalence Num ber (REN) for the equipm ent. You m ust, upon request, provide this
inform ation to your telephone com pany.
The REN is useful in determ ining the num ber of devices you m ay connect to your telephone line and still
have all of these devices ring when your telephone num ber is called. In m ost (but not all) areas, the sum of
the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certain of the number of devices you
may connect to your line as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company.
When recording the announcem ent you should
be about six inches from the unit, and should
elim inate as m uch background noise as possible.
Avoid dropping and other rough treatm ent to the answerer.
Clean with a soft cloth.
You can access your answerer from another location by using a touch-tone phone
to enter your security code (located on the bottom of the unit). Listen to m essages,
which autom atically clears m essages from the tape, and new m essages will be
recorded over old m essages.
Never use a strong cleaning agent or abrasive powder because this will
dam age the finish.

ANNOUNCEMENT button
• This equipm ent m ay not be used on coin service provided by the telephone com pany.
• Party lines are subject to state tariffs, and therefore, you m ay not be able to use your own telephone
equipm ent if you are on a party line. Check with your local telephone com pany.
• Notice m ust be given to the telephone com pany upon perm anent disconnection of your telephone from
your line.
•
Retain the original packaging in case you need to ship it at a later date.
Be aware that rem ote functions do not work with rotary, or push button pulse-
dialing phones.

Should your equipm ent cause trouble on your line which m ay harm the telephone network, the telephone
com pany shall, where practicable, notify you that tem porary discontinuance of service m ay be required.
Where prior notice is not practicable and the circum stances warrant such action, the telephone com pany
m ay tem porarily discontinue service im m ediately. In case of such tem porary discontinuance, the telephone
com pany m ust: (1) prom ptly notify you of such tem porary discontinuance; (2) afford you the opportunity to
correct the situation; and (3) inform you of your right to bring a com plaint to the Com m ission pursuant to
procedures set forth in Subpart E of Part 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.
The telephone com pany m ay m ake changes in its com m unications facilities, equipm ent, operations of
procedures where such action is required in the operation of its business and not inconsistent with FCC
Rules and Regulations. If these changes are expected to affect the use or perform ance of your telephone
equipm ent, the telephone company must give you adequate notice, in writing, to allow you to maintain
uninterrupted service.

are extrem ely dirty, dam pen the cotton swab

seconds to play m essages again or hang up. Do one of the following:

If the tape is full, unit will answer after the tenth ring. To access your m essages, you
need to do the following:

interference in a residential installation.
