Caution: When you connect external SATA devices to the
ExpressCard adapter, they must be self-powered SATA devices,
which come with their own accessories.
Using the correct eSATA cable
Note: Make sure that you have the correct eSATA cable to
connect your external SATA device to the ExpressCard adapter.
There are two types of SATA cables available, which are used for different
applications. The internal SATA type A cable has an L-shaped key on each
plastic plug. This type of cable is used with an internal SATA port to
connect an internal SATA drive.
The external eSATA cable has a shielded plug, which does not have an L-
shaped key. The eSATA cable is designed to connect an external SATA
device, so it must therefore provide better EMI (electromagnetic
interference) and ESD (electrostatic discharge) prevention. This type of
cable is capable of a fast data transfer rate of up to 300 MB/s.

eSATA cables. If you do not have an eSATA cable, you must purchase one
from your local dealer.

Windows OS driver Installation
To install the Windows driver:

Save all files and close all programs.
If you install the adapter first, your notebook will detect the
adapter and the Found New Hardware Wizard opens. If that
happens, click Cancel.

Insert the included utility CD into your CD drive. The first
driver installation utility page opens automatically.

Click Install Driver. The Welcome to the Dynex eSATA
adapter Driver Setup Wizard opens. Follow the on-screen
instructions to install the driver.
When the installation is complete, the Installation Complete
dialog box opens.

Click Close to complete the driver installation.
To verify the driver installation, right-click the My
Computer icon on your desktop, then click Properties.

Click Device Manager, then double-click Silicon Image
Sil 3132 SATALink Controller. The message “This device
is working properly” is displayed, confirming that the driver
has been correctly installed.
MAC OS driver installation
To install the driver in Macintosh OS 10.4.x or later:

device exists. Right-click the My Computer icon on your

ExpressCard adapter is working correctly.
Remove the ExpressCard adapter and reinsert it in the
ExpressCard slot.
Make sure that your computer's operating system is updated to
the latest version.

Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, click
peripheral is not Properties, then click the Device Manager. If the SATA
detected by the peripheral is listed in the Device Manager, it should be

defective eSATA peripheral or its software drivers. Do the
following:

Check the eSATA connection and try a different eSATA cable.
Check your SATA device's power source, and make sure that it
provides enough power for your SATA device to run stably. Refer
to the SATA peripheral’s user guide for the power supply
specifications.
Uninstall your SATA device, then reinstall the SATA device driver.
Make sure that the SATA device is using a current driver. You can
download current driver software from the manufacturer's Web
site.

DX-ESATL “Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original
manufacture of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the

this warranty statement. This warranty does not cover refurbished product. If you

How long does the coverage last?
The Warranty Period lasts for one year (365 days) from the date you purchased the
Product. The purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the

What does this warranty cover?
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or
workmanship of the Product is determined to be defective by an authorized
Dynex repair center or store personnel, Dynex will (at its sole option): (1) repair

Garantie limitée d’un an
Dynex Products (« Dynex ») garantit au premier acheteur de ce DX-ESATL neuf
(« Produit »), qu’il est exempt de vices de fabrication et de main-d’œuvre à
l’origine, pour une période d’un (1) an à partir de la date d’achat du Produit
(« Période de garantie »). Ce Produit doit avoir été acheté chez un revendeur agréé
des produits de la marque Dynex et emballé avec cette déclaration de garantie.
Cette garantie ne couvre pas les produits remis à neuf. Les conditions de la
présente garantie s’appliquent à tout Produit pour lequel Dynex est notifié,
pendant la Période de garantie, d’un vice couvert par cette garantie qui nécessite
une réparation.

llave en forma de L. El cable eSATA está diseñado para conectar un
dispositivo SATA externo, así que debe proveer mejor prevención de EMI
(interferencia electromagnética) y ESD (descarga electrostática). Este tipo
de cable es capaz de una velocidad de transferencia de datos de hasta
300 Mbps.
