Safety Information
Please take these safety precautions into consideration, under the following conditions:
1. Servicing the vehicle
When servicing your vehicle (i.e. changing the oil, tire rotation), the CompuStar system should be in Valet Mode. There is a safety shutdown switch
under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open. However, if the switch has been damaged or the switch has been
installed improperly, the vehicle may start when Button II is pressed for 2 seconds even if the hood is open.
2. Loaning your vehicle to others
Whenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not familiar with Compustar, please put the vehicle in Valet mode. This will prevent the
vehicle loaner from accidentally activating the CompuStar remote start system.
3. For manual transmission vehicles
If the Compustar 2WFMR(S) is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, extra precautions are required because the Compustar does not monitor
the gear shift:
Important! Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled when a door or hatchback opens. Please verify if the opening of any door
or hatchback cancels Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or hatchback is not being monitored by the CompuStar because of improper installation
or a faulty dome light switch. Do not operate the CompuStar system, and take your vehicle to the dealer immediately for repair.
Do not set Reservation Mode when the window(s) are open or if there is anyone inside of the vehicle including animals.
Firstech, Inc. will not be responsible for any damages resulting from improper installation or a faulty dome light switch.
Important Requirements to activate Reservation Mode
CompuStar does not monitor the location of the gear. It is your responsibility to leave the transmission in the neutral position before you remote start.
If the reservation is set when the transmission is in gear or if you move the transmission gear after the reservation has been activated, the vehicle
will move when the engine will start and Firstech will not be responsible for any damages.
Two Way Remote: 2WFMR(S)
The model name, 2WFMR(S), stands for Two Way Frequency Modulation Remote for Starter only. This transmitter will allow you to activate
multiple functions of the Compustar by pressing a combination of 4 buttons on the unit in order to transmit signals.
Two Way Remote Button Functions
The button functions of the 2WFMR are very similar with the 2WFMR (Two Way Remote-Pager with LCD). The difference between 2WFMR(S) and
2WFMR is that the 2WMFR(S) is not a remote pager. If you are using 2WFMR(S) for an alarm/starter combo unit, please consult your dealer for
more button functions.
Note: This remote, 2WFMR(S), will not confirm a zone being violated when used with a Compustar alarm or alarm/starter controller module. (i.e.

Two Way Remote Learning Procedures
If you replace or add additional remotes, you can program up to three remotes, please perform the following procedure:
Step 1: Activate Valet/Programming mode by manually turning the ignition on and off five times (between Acc and On) with the car key within a 10
second period. The parking lights will flash once with successful completion of this step.
Step 2: Within a 10 second period after cycling the ignition for the 5th time, press button I for ½ second. The vehicle parking lights will flash once to
confirm that the transmitter has been programmed. Continue program the additional remotes. The parking lights will flash two times when the third
remote has been programmed or programming mode is expired.
Lock/Unlock Mode
You can lock or unlock the vehicle by pressing Button I for a ½ second or 2 seconds. If you install the optional anti-grind function, this feature
disengages the starter mechanism on your car that prevents you from re-cranking the starter with a manual key, while the engine is running by the
remote start function.
Auto-Start Function
Press Button II for 2 seconds to auto-start an automatic transmission engine.
Remember that a manual key in the ignition is required to drive the vehicle. In addition, the anti-grind circuit (this maybe an optional feature
provided by your installer) prevents you from re-cranking the starter on a remote-started vehicle. Press Button II for 2 seconds in order to turn off an
auto-started car. For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.
The engine will run 15 or 25 minutes (25 or 45 min for diesel) depending on preset options at the time of installation and then shut off. If your remote-
pager has a problem starting the vehicle, CompuStar will try 2 additional times. If the engine does not start after the third attempt, please call your
authorized CompuStar dealer.
Continuation Mode:
While your vehicle is running with your key in the ignition, press button II for 2 seconds, you are now in the continuation mode. Your engine will
continue running for the preset time even if you take your key from the ignition. With this mode, the engine will continue running without the key
during your quick stop (i.e. at the grocery store).
Diagnosing problems with Auto-Start
If there is a problem in auto-starting your vehicle, you will hear three chirps when you attempt to auto-start the vehicle. Wait for 2 seconds and the
cause for the error will be indicated by the number of times the vehicle parking lights flash.

Reservation Mode (manual transmission only)
In order to auto-start your manual transmission vehicle, you must first set the CompuStar system to Reservation Mode before leaving your vehicle.
The purpose of Reservation Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutral position when you leave your vehicle. Reservation mode is
intended for use in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY and NOT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Reservation Mode must be engaged each
and every time you leave your manual transmission car in order to auto-start the vehicle.
Note: The system is not recommended for vehicles with removable tops.
Important Requirements to activate Reservation Mode
CompuStar does not monitor the location of the gear. It is your responsibility to leave the transmission in
the neutral position before you remote start. If the reservation is set when the transmission is in gear or
if you move the transmission gear after the reservation is set, the engine will start and Firstech will not be
responsible for any damages.
?? The transmission must be in the NEUTRAL position.
?? The vehicle windows must be rolled up.
?? Do not set the reservation mode with people in the vehicle.
?? Do not use the auto-start with people in the vehicle.
?? Do not set the reservation mode if the vehicle has a problematic door pin or dome light system.
Activating Reservation Mode (MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY)
Step 1: After arriving at your destination, and BEFORE TURNING YOUR ENGINE OFF, place the transmission in the Neutral position.
Step 2: Remove your foot from the foot brake.
Step 3: Activate the parking brake.
Step 4: Remove the key from the ignition. The engine will remain running.
Step 5: Exit the vehicle and close the door within two minutes after activating the parking brake. The engine will shut off and reservation mode for
the remote starter is now complete.
Your vehicle is now ready for auto-starting. However, the reservation mode will be cancelled if the door is opened or the CompuStar system is put in
Valet mode after the reservation has been set. Once cancelled, you will have to start the vehicle with the manual key and repeat the above 5 steps if
you want to restore reservation mode.
Important! If you try to auto-start the vehicle when reservation mode has not been set or turned on, the auto-start feature will not work. When you
press the auto-start button, the remote will beep three times and the vehicle parking lights will flash five times. A couple of seconds later, the cause
for the error will be indicated by the number of times the vehicle parking lights flash. See Page 4 for error messages.
Canceling Reservation Mode
If you do not want to set reservation mode, shut off the engine before you exit the vehicle. The engine will shut off for the following reasons:
?? You did not activate the parking brake or, you pressed the foot brake when you turned the manual key to the off position.
?? You released the parking brake while the engine was running.
?? You entered Valet Mode after the Reservation Mode has been completed.
