health teeth and gums, whitening and freshening.
English
®
The Oral-B ProfessionalCare™ 8500 DLX toothbrush
delivers outstanding performance:
• Unique 3D action for ultimate cleaning: 40.000 in-and-out
pulsations gently loosen plaque, 8.800 side-to-side
oscillations sweep plaque away
• Compact cup shaped brushhead: Surrounds each tooth to
clean completely between and behind teeth
• Innovative accessories and brushheads to clean and polish
teeth as well as freshen your tongue and mouth
• Customised Speed Control which offers a broad variety of
speed levels to meet your individual brushing needs
• Premium handle design and ergonomics for greater comfort
and control
®
®
The Oral-B ProfessionalCare™ OxyJet irrigator mixes air
into water in the form of micro-bubbles. These micro-bubbles
in the water stream attack plaque bacteria. At the same time,
the irrigator removes remaining food particles from between
your teeth and massages your gums. Always use the irrigator
after brushing your teeth.
Please read the use instructions carefully before first use.
Important
• The appliance must be mounted in a way that it cannot fall
into water. The plug should always be accessible.
• Periodically check the cord for damage. A damaged or
non-functioning appliance shall no longer be used. Take it
to an Oral-B Braun Service Centre.
• This product is not intended for use by children under age
three.
• If the product is dropped, the brushhead should be
replaced before the next use even if no damage is visible.

8500 DLX toothbrush
Connecting and charging
Your toothbrush has a waterproof handle, is electrically safe
and can be used in the bathroom without hesitation.
• Plug the appliance into an electrical outlet and place the
toothbrush handle 3 on the charger base 1.
• The blue charge indicator 2 flashes while the handle is
being charged. If you then use your brush and place it back
on the charger, the charging light will again flash to let you
know it is charging.
• When the handle is fully charged, the charge indicator
shines continuously. A full charge takes at least 16 hours
and enables up to two weeks of regular brushing.
• When the rechargeable battery is running low, your

• For everyday use, the toothbrush handle can be stored on
the charger base to maintain it at full power. Overcharging
is impossible.
ml
• To maintain the maximum capacity of the rechargeable
battery, refrain from placing the handle on the charger base
and fully discharge it through regular use at least every
6 months.
Customised Speed Control
®
Oral-B ProfessionalCare™ 8500 DLX offers a variable
range of speeds to best meet your individual needs. High
speed is ideal for tooth and gumline cleaning. For cleaning
sensitive teeth and gum tissue as well as precision use of the
accessories, we recommend using a lower speed.
• Press the on/off button once to operate at maximum
speed.
• Continue to hold the on/off button to move from the highest
speed to the Customised Speed Control mode.
• As long as you keep the on/off button pressed, the handle
will continuously run through all speed levels.
• Release the on/off button to brush at your preferred speed
level.
• Push the on/off button once more to turn the toothbrush
off.
• If you then turn it on again you will automatically come
back to the maximum speed level.

Brushing technique
outsides
• Attach one of the brushheads 5 to the handle. They can be
used with any kind of toothpaste.
• To avoid splashing, guide the brushhead to your teeth
before switching the appliance on.
• Guide the brushhead slowly from tooth to tooth.
• Hold the brushhead in place for a few seconds before
moving on to the next tooth.
• Brush the gums as well as the teeth, first the outsides, then
the insides, finally the chewing surfaces.
• Do not press too hard or scrub, simply let the brush do all
the work.
Pressure Sensor
®
For optimal brushing results Oral-B ProfessionalCare™
insides
tops
8500 DLX has a pressure control feature to ensure that the
right degree of pressure is applied. This helps protect your
gums from excessive brushing and makes your toothbrush
easy to operate. If too much pressure is applied, the
oscillating movement of the brushhead will continue but the
pulsation will stop. In addition to feeling it, you can also hear
the difference.
Professional Timer
A short stuttering sound at 30-second intervals, which you
can hear and feel, reminds you to brush the four quadrants of
your mouth equally for a better overall clean.
2-Minute Timer
A long stuttering sound indicates when the dentist
recommended 2-minute brushing time has been reached.
During the first few days of using the toothbrush, your gums
may bleed slightly. In general, bleeding should stop after a few
days. Should it persist after 2 weeks, please consult your
dentist or hygienist.

Brushheads and accessories
®
The Oral-B ProfessionalCare™ 8500 DLX offers you a
variety of brushheads and accessories to meet your individual
needs. They are all designed for daily use:
®
I
FlexiSoft brushhead
The FlexiSoft® brushhead features our outstanding
oscillating-pulsating action to effectively clean your teeth,
clean along the gumline and in hard-to-reach areas such as
behind teeth. The green FlexiSoft® bristles bend, enabling
both gentle brushing and deeper reach of the blue
Interdental Tips between teeth.
II ProBright™ brushhead
The ProBright™ brushhead is specifically designed to
polish and naturally whiten your teeth by removing coffee,
tea and tobacco stains. We do not recommend using the
ProBright™ brushhead with braces.
Apply the same brushing technique as described in the
section «Brushing technique» for both brushheads.
Both brushheads feature blue INDICATOR® bristles to help
you monitor brushhead replacement need. With thorough
brushing, twice a day for two minutes, the blue colour will
fade halfway within 3 months, signaling it is time to change
the brushhead.
III Tongue Freshener
The Tongue Freshener freshens breath by removing odour-
causing bacteria from the tongue. It can be used everyday
– before or after brushing. You can also use mouthwash
with the Tongue Freshener.
Attach it to the handle, turn the appliance on and drag it
across the tongue from back to front. We recommend a low
speed setting for enhanced control during use. Rinse after
use. Replace the Tongue Freshener when materials become
worn.

IV Interdental Cleaner
The Interdental Cleaner effectively cleans between the teeth
and helps improve your gum health. It should be used
before brushing.
Break one pick cleaner off the base and insert it into the
slot in the neck of the white pick holder. Then attach the
Interdental Cleaner to the handle. Depending on which
part of your mouth you are cleaning, the pick holder should
be adjusted by turning it, so that the blunt side always
faces your gums. Turn the appliance on and guide the
cleaner between your teeth and clean systematically from
space to space. We recommend a low speed setting for
enhanced control during use. A pick cleaner can be used
approximately two to three times until it becomes too soft
to effectively fit and clean between the teeth. Replacement
cleaners are available separately.

®
Oral-B ProfessionalCare™ 8500 DLX replacement

Using your Oral-B® ProfessionalCare™
®
OxyJet irrigator
Before using for the first time, fill the water container t and
allow the water to run through completely by holding the
irrigator handle r over a washbasin.
1. Attach one of the irrigator jets 8 to the handle until it locks
into place. Fill the water container with water and add
mouthwash, if desired.
2. Turn on the irrigator by pressing the on/off switch q.
(When doing so, the handle switch should be in the lower
position = water stop).
3. Select the water pressure with the pressure control dial w
(1 = gentle, 5 = strong). We recommend that you start with
setting 1, especially if your gums tend to bleed or if children
are using the irrigator.
4. Bend over a washbasin and guide the jet to your teeth and
gums. Slide the handle switch e up to start the water
stream. Keep your mouth slightly open to allow the water to
run into the washbasin.
You can choose between two different jet functions by sliding
the jet switch 9 down or up (before doing so, turn off the
water stream by sliding the handle switch e down):
Rotating stream: for general cleaning and gum massage
(jet switch in lower position). The rotation of the water stream
and its micro-bubbles is designed for easy penetration.
Mono stream: straight water stream for site-specific cleaning
(jet switch in upper position).
Max. operating time: 15 minutes
Cooling off time: 2 hours
To ensure the jet functions, a small sieve is incorporated in the
lower end of the shaft. Should you notice a reduced water
pressure, check the sieve for any deposits and remove them,
e.g. by carefully tapping the shaft on a flat surface.

After use
Always empty the water container entirely to prevent bacteria
from collecting in the standing water. If your dentist has
recommended the use of a chlorhexidine solution with your
irrigator, allow some water to run through the irrigator after
use to prevent any deposit build-up.
Press the on/off switch to turn off the irrigator. It will
automatically turn off after 10 minutes if you forget to turn it
off manually. In this case, to turn it on again, you have to
press the on/off switch twice.
To take off the irrigator jet, press the jet release button 0.
The jets can be stored in the jet compartment. Wipe the
handle dry and place it back onto its base.
Cleaning
Regularly clean the housing with a damp cloth. The water
container and the jet compartment are removable and
dishwasher-safe.
Subject to change without notice.
