e
Please pay attention to the correct waste disposal of the no longer useful rechargeable
batteries. Do not put the rechargeable batteries into the domestic waste, but to a recy-

Subscribe to a Basestation
Before you can make a call, the handset has to be subscribed to a basestation and con-
figured with the configuration program of the PBX. This is described in detail in the man-
ual of the basestation.
If the telephone is subscribed and in range you
will see on the left side of the display the sign:

Connect a Headset
pic. 6
To connect a Headset (e.g. the GN Netcom
M2520) to the handset, plug the plug of the
headset into the jack at the bottom (pic. 6).
To accept a call when you can´t use your hands
at the moment, you can activate the automatic
call acception (see page 44).
Placing and Cleaning of the Device
Put the charger on a non slippery pad. It might be possible that some plastics or colors
used on furniture are aggressive to the device feet. This chemical reaction might cause
damage to the surface of your furniture. The manufacturer is not taking any responsibility
for this kind of damage.

12
Protect your system telephone against dirt, dust and moisture. If a cleaning is necessary,
wipe the casing with a lightly damp cloth or use an antistatic cloth. Make sure, no mois-

PBX Functions
With the system telephone COMfort DECT you can use most of the functions of the PBX
such as pick up, call transfer, recall on busy and so on as described in the operation
manual of the PBX.
Some functions such as alternation, transfer and so on are differently handled on ISDN
telephones and also on system telephones than described for analog telephones in the
operation manual of the PABX. How to set these functions with the system telephone
COMfort DECT differently is described here.
The functions in the following list are not supported by the system telephone
COMfort DECT:
b
b
b
b
Reject a waiting caller
Park the call on the internal S port
0
Call an internal third calling partner
Establish a conference

26
Accept a waiting Caller
During an ongoing call your attention is drawn to a new call (external subscriber, alarm
or visitor on the door) by a knocking signal (tone in the receiver). To talk to the waiting
caller or to confirm the alarm you will have two options.
1. First you finish the ongoing call and accept the new call at the same time by pressing
the Alt key A.
2. You start a new call by pressing the R key
F(query call). Then the ongoing call part-
ner will be put on Hold in the background.
If you like to prevent the knocking signal on your telephone, you can deactivate the
knocking (see operation manual of the PBX).
+
Initiate Query / Transfer
If you like to ask someone a question during a call or if you like to transfer your calling
partner, you can initiate a query. The ongoing call is interrupted to call another sub-
scriber. The 1st calling partner is put on hold in the background by the PBX during this
time and is listening to the Music on Hold.
You start a query call by pressing the R key F(query key) followed by dialing the tele-
phone number.
If you are in a query and like to connect the new calling partner with the partner on hold
in the background, you can do this by pressing the hook key H.

Make a Call
27
Which telephone numbers you can dial in addition to the internal and external ones is
described in the operation manual of the PBX.
In case of an external telephone number do not forget to enter the exchange line access
number „0“.
If you like to connect an external calling partner with an internal subscriber, you can go
on-hook as soon as you have dialed the internal telephone number. (Blind Transfer).
The Subscriber called in a Query does not take the Call - Finish the Call
If you like to call someone but he does not take the call, you would normally hang up the
receiver. But if you do this out of an existing call while are calling another subscriber for
a query, you would also disconnect the connection with the caller waiting in the back-
ground or start a Blind Transfer. You should press the Alt key Ainstead if you like to
finish the call.
The Subscriber called in a Query is busy - Finish the Call
If you like to call someone but his connection is busy, you would normally hang up. But
if you do this out of an existing call while are calling another subscriber for a query, you
would also disconnect the connection with the caller waiting in the background. In this
case the PBX will disconnect the system telephone COMfort DECT from the busy call
after a few seconds. Then you will be connected with your first calling partner again.

28
Talk with both Calling Partners alternately (Alternation)
If you started a query and liked to talk to both calling partners alternately, you could
switch from one partner to the other by pressing the R key F.
Finish a Query Call
You finish a query call by pressing the R key F. You are now connected with the call
partner you like to disconnect and finish this call by pressing the Alt key A.
Dial a Telephone Number on a Direct Exchange Line Telephone
If your system telephone is configured as a Direct Exchange Line Telephone (with the
configuration program of the PBX), you will hear the external dial tone right after picking
up the receiver. To call an external connection, you have to dial the external telephone
number without the exchange line access number „0“.
To make other types of calls (internal call, speed dialing, exchange line selection, private
exchange line access, PABX programming), press the little star key
time.

TELEPHONE BOOK
The telephone book is good for the entries of useful or often dialled telephone numbers
with name. You can enter these telephone numbers together with the name directly or
you can transfer the short-code dial numbers of the PBX into the telephone with the help
of the PC program COMtools. (The number of entries depends on the firmware version
of the handset.)
All entries are displayed in an alphabetical order. You can search the entries by scrolling
or by entering the initial (page 38) and directly dial the displayed telephone number out
of the telephone book (page 23).
If a telephone number is available in the telephone book and was presented in case of
an incoming call, in addition to the number, the corresponding name is shown on the dis-
play.
Please enter the telephone number the same way you did when dialing e.g. external tele-
phone numbers that means always with a preceding „0“. (Exception: Direct exchange
line telephone; see page 28.)
Manually entered numbers cannot be overwritten or edited with COMtools.

Input of Letters with the Keypad
With the keypad you can enter digits as well as letters or various special signs (see table
on page 36).
For text entry the system telephone automatically switches from the entry of digits to the
entry of letters. This will happen if you edit an entry for the telephone book. When press-
ing the number keys once or repeatedly, they become letters, digits or various other
signs. For example, if you press the key
