Maintenance
1. Keep magnet mating surfaces free of any accumulated dirt or

dust.
Before connecting contactor to power supply:
1. Remove all packing.
2. DO NOT OIL OR GREASE the magneꢃ maꢃing surfaces.
3. The silver-cadmium oxide contacts need only be replaced when
nearly al! tip maꢃerial is gone and contact tip support material is
exposed. DO NOT ꢕꢖE the contacts. Filing or otherwise dressing
ꢃhe conꢃacts resꢁlts in lost tip maꢃerial and reduces contact liꢀe.
4. Terminal tightness should be checked period!ca!!y as part of
preventive mainꢃenance. Many users wiꢃh average conditions find
an annual check is satisfactory. Any point showing evidence of
heaꢃing shoꢁld immediaꢃely be checked for tightness.
2. Clean magneꢃ mating surfaces.
3. Operate movable magneꢃ and operating arm by pressing on the
nameplate to assure free movement.
4. Mounꢃ contactor on a stꢁrdy vertical support.
5. Be certain wiring connections are tight.
6. Give installation a final check for conformance with codes, branch
circuiꢃ protection and remove any foreign material from enclosꢁre.
A!so check to see ꢃhat no tools have been leꢀꢃ in panel during in·
.stallation. Review diagrams for intended operation and ꢀꢁꢂcꢃꢄoꢅꢆ
7. Before energizing, make final check to see that all power lines
and terminals, are free of metal or pieces of wire ꢃhat could
cause shorts to other parꢃs or ground and additionally thaꢃ wiring
and equipmenꢃ on load side of contacꢃor is free from grounds
and shorts. An ohmmeter or oꢃher means, as appropriate, is
recommended.
Operation
When energizing, be certain -all equipmenꢃ is ready for power and
that al! personnel are clear. Always observe all safety rules when
operating this equipmenꢃ.

Disconnect All Power
1. Examine all currenꢃ-carrying parts and other components of ꢃhe
