Blender Safety
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING – When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including
the following:
• To prevent damage to blender, jar, or cutter
assembly, DO NOT move or shake blender
while in operation. If blending action stops during
operation, turn blender OFF, remove jar from
base, remove jar cover, and use a thin rubber
spatula to push mixture towards cutters.
• Do not spray the base with a high-pressure
spray gun.
• Disconnect power before cleaning or servicing.
• To prevent burns from hot liquids splashing out
of the jar, always remove the filler cap of the
container cover before blending hot liquids.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged
cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions,
or is dropped or damaged in any manner.
Return appliance to the nearest service facility
for examination, repair, or electrical or
mechanical adjustment.
• If the supply cord of this appliance is damaged,
it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its
service agent or a similar qualified person. If fitted
with a non-rewirable U.K. plug, the 13 amp fuse
approved by ASTA to be B.S. 1362 must be used.
If you need a replacement fuse carrier, it must be
replaced by the same colour coded carrier with
the same markings. Fuse covers and carriers
can be obtained from approved service agents.
IMPORTANT: If the molded plug is cut off,
dispose of it immediately. The plug is not rewirable
and would cause a shock hazard if inserted into
a socket.
• Read all instructions.
• Plug into a grounded outlet.
• Do not touch surfaces that may be hot.
Use handles or knobs provided.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an
appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• To protect against electrical shock, do not
immerse cord, plug, or blender base in water
or any other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any
appliance is used by or near children.
• The use of accessory attachments not recom-
mended by Hamilton Beach may cause injuries.
• To reduce risk of personal injury, unplug cord
from outlet when not in use, and before putting on
or taking off parts or doing any other servicing of
the blender.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or
counter or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric
burner or in a heated oven.
• To reduce risk of personal injury and to prevent
damage to blender or jar and cutter assembly,
DO NOT insert utensils into blender jar while
operating blender, or store utensils in the blender
jar when it is not in use.
• Avoid contacting moving parts.
• Blades are sharp. Handle carefully.
• Inspect jar and cutter assembly daily. Check
cutter for wear, nicks, or broken blades. Replace
jar and cutter assembly at least every 12 months.
• Do not defeat the jar pad sensors.
• Do not use outdoors.

Sanitizing
If the blender will not be used again within 1 hour,
sanitize the container in the following manner:
Cleaning
The jar should be cleaned immediately AFTER
EACH USE. The jar can be cleaned in the
following manner:
1. After washing the jar, fill it with a cold chlorine-
based sanitizing solution that has a minimum
chlorine concentration of 100 parts per million.
See recommended solution below.
1. Fill the jar half full with warm water,
122 degrees F (50 degrees C).
2. Add a drop of liquid detergent or 1⁄2 teaspoon of
detergent powder.
2. Place the cover/filler cap on the jar and blend on
C cycle or the High setting for a minimum of 2
minutes.
3. Place the cover/filler cap on the jar and blend on
C cycle or the High setting for 30 seconds.
3. Empty the jar but do not rinse.
4. Dry the jar by placing it on the blender base and
turn the blender on C (Slide-step cycle) or the
High setting for 2 seconds.
4. Turn the blender off, and then rinse the jar
and wipe down to dry. Do not disassemble
the cutter assembly.
5. Wash the jar cover/filler cap in warm, soapy
water. Rinse and let dry.
Recommended Sanitizing Solution:
The sanitizing solution should consist of 1
tablespoon of household bleach per 1 gallon of
clean, cool water (60° F, 16° C) mixed according
to the instructions on the bleach. When using a
sanitizing solution other than that recommended,
the sanitizing solution concentration should be
tested using commercially available test strips
and should indicate a concentration between
100 and 200 parts per million of bleach to water.
6. Unplug the blender.
7. Wipe down the blender base with a damp cloth.
