The Gefen DVI to VGA Converter
The Gefen DVI to VGA Converter is a small box solution that converts DVI-D to
VGA Analog PC/RGB, enabling digital sources to connect with any display, pro-
jector or TV using VGA. Output resolutions up to 1920x1200 are supported. The
Gefen DVI to VGA Converter features advanced EDID management which uses
the EDID of the connected monitor if it is available. Otherwise, the internal EDID
is sent to the source for compatibility.
How It Works
Connect a DVI cable from the DVI source to the DVI input. Connect a monitor to
the VGA output connector. Connect the supplied 5V DC power supply to the unit
and connect the included AC power cord to an available electrical outlet.

EDID MANAGEMENT
EDID Modes
1. EXTERNAL MODE:
In order to use the external (display) EDID, the DVI to VGA Converter must
be powered after it has been connected to the display. If the Converter is
powered before it is connected to the display, then the internal EDID will be
used.
2. INTERNAL MODE:
The internal EDID is a preset EDID that is stored in the DVI to VGA
Converter. This pre-programmed standard EDID data structure is compatible
with most A/V displays. All resolutions and audio formats specied in
the internal EDID will be passed to the source device. See page 8 for a
complete listing of the resolutions and audio formats listed in the internal
EDID.
