Before using your new car radio, please read
the following information carefully.
Traffic safety
nection carefully.
Initial Start-up
Traffic safety always has the highest priori-
ty.
In order to ensure that the set operates prop-
erly it is necessary for the positive power
supply line to be connected to the ignition
and the permanent +12 V lead.
A button cell has already been loaded by
the manufacturer. Once you pull the red strip
out completely, the remote control unit is
ready for use.
Condition: the instructions for installation
and connection have been observed.
As the driver of a motor vehicle, it is your
responsibility to pay attention to the traffic
situation at all times. Never use your car
radio in a way that could distract you.
Please keep in mind that you travel a dis-
tance of 14 m per second at a speed of only
50 km/h.
Should the traffic situation become particu-
larly demanding, we advise you not to use
the radio.
Always make sure that you are still able to
hear any warning signals coming from out-
side of the vehicle, such as police or fire
engine sirens, so that you can react accord-
ingly.
Therefore, you should always select a mod-
erate volume for playing your car radio while
you are driving.
Do not ground the loudspeaker outputs!
Accessories
Replacing the Button Cell
Use only the accessories and spare parts
approved by Blaupunkt.
When the range of the remote control be-
comes limited, the button cell should be re-
placed.
To do this, release the battery holder in the
direction of the arrow and remove carefully.
Insert a new button cell and push the holder
in until it snaps into place.
You can use the following Blaupunkt prod-
ucts with this car radio:

Antitheft protection
Note:
This car radio is supplied with inactive code
protection. In order to switch the security
coding system on, proceed as described on
the following pages.
If the coding system is active while the power
supply to the system is interrupted (e.g. theft,
disconnection of the car battery), the set will
be electronically blocked. In such a case it
can only be made operable again by enter-
ing the correct code number given in the car
radio pass.
Re-start following an interrup-
tion of the power supply
(coding system is activated)
Keep your car radio pass with the code
number in a safe place in order to avoid “un-
authorised access” to your car radio.
If the security code system is activated, the
unique code must be entered each time the
power supply was interrupted.
The radio will be operable again as soon as
you have entered the correct code.
If you have lost your radio pass and forgot-
ten the code number, your radio can only
be restarted by one of our authorised serv-
ice workshops. This is a chargeable serv-
ice.
Turn on the radio.
The display shows “CODE”.
Briefly press preset button 1; the dis-
play shows “0000”.
Enter the code number given in the
Blaupunkt car radio pass:
Example: The code number is 2521.
- Press preset button 1 twice; the dis-
play shows “2000”.
Entry of a wrong code number
- Press preset button 2 five times; the
display shows “2500”.
- Press preset button 3 twice; the dis-
play shows “2520”.
- Press preset button 4 once; the dis-
play shows “2521”.
It should not be possible for a thief to find
out the correct code number by trial and er-
ror. This is why the set will be blocked for a
certain period of time after a wrong code
number has been entered. The display will
show “CODE ERR” and then “WAIT”.
After the first three unsuccessful attempts,
the system will shut down for 10 sec.; after
further attempts, the waiting time extends
to one hour.
Switching on security coding
To activate the coding system:
Turn off the radio.
Press and hold down preset buttons 1
To confirm the code number:
Press the rocker switch >.
and 4 simultaneously, and
switch the set on.
If you have entered the correct code, the
unit will now be ready for use.
“CODE” will appear.
Release preset buttons 1 and 4.
After 19 unsuccessful attempts, the display
will show “OFF”. In this case you can no
longer restart the unit.
However, if the display shows “CODE ERR”
and then “WAIT”, you have entered a wrong
number. The unit will switch off when the
waiting time has elapsed. Turn it on again
and re-enter the correct code.
Enter the code number given in the
Blaupunkt car radio pass and confirm
your entry as described in “Restart ...”
Now the security coding system is active.
If you switch off the set while it is blocked,
the waiting time will start to count from zero
again as soon as the radio is turned back on.
The display will briefly show “CODE” each
time the set is turned on.

press SC/SRC briefly.
Release preset buttons 1 and 4.
First, apply the left hand side of the
face to the chassis.
Now enter the code number given in
the car radio pass and confirm your
entry (see example in “Re-start ...”).
Second, gently push the right side of
the face against the front of the chas-
sis until it snaps into place.
Security coding is now switched off.
The unit is now ready for use with the set-
tings selected before the face was removed.
Detachable face
This unit is equipped with a detachable face.
You can remove the control face at a push
of the REL button.
In order to prevent the unit from being sto-
len, we recommend you to take the detach-
able face with you when you leave your car.
When you carry the face with you, put it in
the enclosed carrying case.
Re-inserting the face is child’s play. The set
will be ready for use immediately and you
will find all of your previous settings re-ad-
justed.

Receiving traffic programme stations with RDS-EON
The abbreviation “EON” stands for En-
hanced Other Networks, meaning the ex-
change of information within a radio network.
Many FM broadcasters offer traffic messag-
es for their service area at regular intervals.
All traffic programme stations transmit a
special carrier signal along with their pro-
grammes, which is decoded by your car ra-
dio. If this signal is identified, “TP” will ap-
pear in the display (Traffic Programme).
In addition to these, there are also stations
which do not actually transmit traffic pro-
grammes themselves, but by using RDS-
EON they make it possible to receive the
traffic messages broadcast by another traf-
fic programme station in the same radio
network.
Traffic announcement priority
on/off
Switching off the beep tone
a) Tune into another station offering traf-
fic information:
If the priority for traffic announcement pro-
grammes is activated, “TA” will light up in
the display.
Press the rocker switch or
press a preset button which has a
traffic programme station allocated
to it.
To switch the priority on or off:
Press the AF/TA button.
Alternatively:
If AF/TA is pressed while a message is
broadcast, this message will be interrupted.
The unit will then switch back to the previ-
ous condition. The priority for all other traf-
fic messages remains active.
Please note that several buttons have no
function while a traffic announcement is
broadcast.
b) Switch off the priority for traffic an-
nouncements:
Press AF/TA.
“TA” will disappear from the display.
Automatic seek tuning start
(tape and CD changer operation)
If you wish to have the priority for traffic an-
nouncements activated while listening to
one of these stations (e.g. NDR3), “TA” must
appear on the display panel.
If a traffic announcement is broadcast, the
radio will automatically switch to the linked
traffic programme station (in this case,
NDR2) for the duration of the message and
return to the original programme (NDR3)
afterwards.
Beep tone
When you leave the reception area of the
tuned in traffic programme station while lis-
tening to a tape or CD, the system will auto-
matically start searching for a new TA pro-
gramme.
If no such station is found within approxi-
mately 30 seconds, tape operation will be
stopped and a beep tone will sound. To
switch off the beep tone proceed as de-
scribed above.
If you leave the reception area of the traffic
programme station currently tuned into, you
will hear a beep tone approximately every
30 seconds.
This tone will also be released if a preset
button is pressed which has no traffic pro-
gramme allocated to it.

To switch to the other side of the tape dur- To avoid possible problems, we recommend
ing playback,
you to use C-60/C-90 type cassette tapes
only. Store your tapes in a cool place away
from dirt, dust and temperatures exceeding
50 °Celsius. Allow very cold tapes to warm
up before playing them in order to avoid
uneven tape transport. After approximately
100 hours of use, dust particles collected
on the playback head or roller may lead to
tape run problems and sound distortions.
Use a head cleaning tape to remove nor-
mal dirt build-up. For tougher cases, use a
cotton swab (Q-Tip) dipped in alcohol. Do
not attempt to clean by inserting a hard ob-
ject into the player!
press FR and FF simultaneously.
At the end of the tape the unit will automat-
ically reverse to the other side (autoreverse).
The display shows “TR 1” for track (side) 1
or “TR 2” for track 2.
Notice:
If there is too much tension on the tape dur-
ing playback, the set may reverse the direc-
tion by itself before having reached the end
of the tape side. In this case check the con-
dition of the cassette tape. Sometimes it
helps to rewind it completely.
