Rating plates: The mains operating voltage of the AC Adaptor is  
marked on a rating plate on the plug face of the AC Adaptor. The  
rating plate of the main unit is located on the underside.

is the AC adaptor/mains plug. This should be unobstructed and

The SP114 is a high quality docking station for an iPhone  
or iPod with a built-in stereo FM radio. The SP114 will also  
accept stereo analogue audio signals from audio sources via  
a Line input (Aux In).  
CONNECTING POWER  
Check that the mains voltage on the rating plate of the AC  
adaptor is the same as the voltage in your area.  
Plug the DC cord from the adaptor into the DC jack, plug the  
mains plug into the wall socket and switch the mains power  
on. The unit is now ready for use.

PRELIMINARIES  
UNPACKING  
Carefully unpack the unit. If it is damaged, please return it to  
your nearest Tesco store for replacement. Remember to take  
your purchase receipt with you.  
Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a third  
party make sure you pass on the handbook.  
We suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do  
so having regard to any recycling regulations in your area.  
NOTE:- The AC adaptor may become warm during operation  
- this is normal.

The unit will switch on and the display will light up.  
To set the unit to standby:  
If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest  
TESCO store for a replacement. Have your receipt ready when  
you call. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so  
having regard to any recycling regulations in your area.  
Press the button.  
The unit will switch off.  
LOCATION  
Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat and  
damp and where it is unlikely to fall or be knocked over.

EXTENDING THE AERIAL  
To extend the aerial:  
BACK VIEW  
Extend the aerial fully out of the main unit.  
Rotate the base of the aerial until the pivot screw is visible from the back (arrowed).

FITTING BATTERIES  
SELECTING A SOURCE  
LISTENING TO THE RADIO  
Batteries may be fitted to power your docking station for  
portable operation and also to provide backup power to  
retain preset memories when mains power is disconnected.  
You can choose to play music from a docked iPod, FM radio or  
a personal audio player or other source connected to the AUX  
IN jack on the rear panel.  
If FM mode is not selected, press the SOURCE button to  
select FM mode.  
The tuned frequency is shown on the display and the radio will

play.  
Press the SOURCE button to step through the sources.  
To tune to a station:  
If iPod is selected, the display will show ‘iPod.  
If FM is selected the display will show the tuned freuqency.  
If the Aux input is selected, the display will show ‘AU.  
Press the ] or [ buttons to tune the radio up or down  
the band. Pressing these buttons briefly will move the  
frequency by one step, holding the buttons for longer  
will start a search which will stop automatically at the  
next station in the band.  
To fit batteries:  
1. Slide the battery cover in the direction shown to unclip  
the latch. Lift off the battery cover.  
ADJUSTING THE VOLUME  
The display will show the tuned frequency in MHz.  
To increase the volume:  
FM PRESETS  
Press the button.  
To decrease the volume:  
Press the button.  
Your radio can store up to 10 of your favourite stations as  
presets for quick recall.  
To store any preset 1-10  
When the volume is adjusted, the volume level is displayed  
briefly on a scale of 0 (minimum) to 20 (maximum).  
2. Fit four ‘AA’/’UM3’ batteries into the battery  
compartment, observing polarity as shown.  
Tune to the station you want to store as a preset.  
Press and hold the PRESETS button.  
3. Re-fit the battery cover and slide it to lock it into place.  
NOTE: The battery indicator will flash if there are no batteries  
fitted or if the battery level is low and needing replacement.  
The preset display will flash.  
SOUND EQUALISER  
Press the ] or [ button repeatedly to find the preset  
number you want to store.  
Press the PRESETS button again to confirm and store  
the preset.  
Your docking station includes a sound equaliser with five  
different preset responses.  
BATTERY CAUTIONS  
Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a long  
time to avoid the danger of leakage.  
NOTE: Never mix old and new batteries or batteries of  
different types. Batteries should always be replaced as sets.  
Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling  
regulations in your area. Do NOT short circuit batteries or  
throw them into water, the general rubbish or in a fire.  
Weak batteries can leak and damage the unit. Replace them  
in good time!  
To change the sound equaliser setting:  
Press the EQ button repeatedly.  
The equaliser mode selected will change in the sequence -  
To browse the station presets 1-10  
Press the PRESETS button repeatedly.  
The preset number playing will be displayed.  
NOTE: If batteries are not fitted, any stored presets will be  
erased if the power is disconnected from the unit.  
In the FLAT setting, no equalisation is applied.

iPod ADAPTORS  
FINDING AN ADAPTOR  
DOCKING AN iPod  
Before docking your iPod you must first check if your iPod has  
a docking connector. Early iPod models and iPod shuffle do  
not have one and cannot be docked to your unit. The docking  
connector is located on the base of the iPod as shown below.

DOCKING YOUR iPod  
To dock your iPod:  
Two adaptors are supplied with your docking station. One  
adaptor is compatible with iPhone 1st generation, the other  
with iPhone 2nd/3rd generation. These may be used if you  
are docking an iPhone.  
Check that the correct iPod adaptor is fitted to the  
docking bay.  
Locate the iPod on the Docking Connector and press it  
gently home.

If you are docking an iPod, the iPod may have been supplied  
with a standard dock adaptor in the packaging when new.  
If you don’t have a dock adaptor  
To remove your iPod from the dock:  
Grip the iPod at the sides.  
Lift the iPod gently from the dock.  
Docking Connector  
If your iPod was not supplied with a standard dock adaptor,  
or if you have lost the adaptor, you can buy one from Apple  
on-line. To determine the exact model of your iPod, refer to  
can then browse the iPod accessories page on the Apple  
website to find an adaptor for your iPod model that can be  
purchased on-line.  
Before docking your iPod, you must first fit the correct iPod  
adaptor to the docking bay. Each iPod adaptor matches the  
shape of a particular iPod and is necessary to ensure that  
your iPod is securely held when docked.  
CHARGING AN iPod  
When an iPod is docked, the iPod will begin to charge  
automatically.  
NOTE:- The iPod will charge at all times that the unit is  
connected to mains power.

FITTING THE iPod ADAPTOR  
Fit the adaptor by pressing it gently into the Docking Bay as  
shown above.  
NOTE: Do not dock an iPod without fitting the correct adaptor,  
you may damage the iPod and your unit.

PLAYING FROM AN iPod  
CONNECTING OTHER iPod  
MODELS (INC SHUFFLE)  
AUX INPUT  
Once an iPod is docked, you can play the iPod and operate  
some of the functions from the controls on your docking  
station.  
The AUX input may be used to connect sound sources with  
a Line or Headphone analogue output to play through your  
player. These may include -  
iPod models that cannot be docked to the unit  
MP3 players without USB plug connection  
CD walkman players  
If you own an iPod Shuffle or a model without a dock  
connector, you can still connect the sound output to the AUX  
IN jack on the back panel.  
Selecting iPod playback mode:  
Press the SOURCE button repeatedly to select iPod  
mode.  
NOTE: iPod mode will select automatically if an iPod is  
docked while the unit is set to FM or AUX mode. The unit will  
revert back to the original selected mode when the iPod is  
removed.

Connecting a source to the AUX input  
Using a 3.5mm jack cable (not supplied), connect the  
cable between the headphone or LINE/AUX output of the  
personal audio player and the AUX IN jack on the back  
panel.  
Playing from the source  
With the cable connected, press the SOURCE button to  
Playback functions:  
When you dock an iPod it will switch on, set to pause mode.  
Press the /, button to toggle between Play and Pause  
mode at any time.  
Press the ] or [ button to select the next or previous  
track on your iPod.  
select AUX.  
AUX will be shown on the display.  
iPod menu functions:  
iPod menu functions should be navigated using the controls  
on the iPod.  
Set your personal audio player/computer to PLAY.  
Set the listening volume to the level you want with the  
or button.  
Using a 3.5mm stereo jack to jack cable (not supplied),  
connect one end of the cable to the headphone socket of  
the iPod, and the other end to the AUX IN socket on the  
back panel.  
To listen to your iPod, follow the instructions in the ‘AUX  
INPUT’section to select and play from the AUX input.  
If there is no sound or if the volume level is not loud enough,  
you may need to increase the volume setting on your personal  
audio player/computer.  
NOTE:- The volume control of the iPod must be turned up  
when playing through AUX IN.

CARE AND CLEANING  
All care and cleaning operations should be carried out with  
the unit unplugged from the mains power.  
Occasionally wipe the cabinet with a lint free duster. Never  
clean the unit with liquids or solvents.

This product must not be connected to earth.  
UK: Waste electrical products should not be  
disposed of with household waste. Separate  
disposal facilities exist, for your nearest facili-  
details.  
ROI: Produced after 13th August 2005. Waste
