The disc mightbe damaged. Try another disc;
It is normalfor some distortionto appear during
forward or reversescan.
Picture is distorted
Some discs havesections that prohibitrapid
scanning or chapterskip;
If you tryto skip throughthe warning information
and credits atthe beginning ofa movie, you
won't be ableto. This partof the movieis often
programmed to prohibitskipping through it.
