The Basics
presetting audio input sources
Before mixing your audio sources (devices connected to
LINE 1, PHONO 1, PHONO 2, LINE 2, LINE 3, LINE 4), you must set their
input signal level to each channel input (CH1, CH2, CH3). You do
not have to mix every connected input source.
1. To preset the PHONO 1 input source, set PHONO 1/LINE 1 to
PHONO 1.
2. Play the selected input source.
3. Adjust the volume on your headphones or receiver to a
comfortable listening level.
4. Slowly adjust CH1 until you get a reading of up to 0 on the
mixer’s LED meters.
5. Stop playback of the selected input source.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 to preset LINE 1 to CH 1, PHONO 2 and LINE 2
to CH 2, and LINE 3 and LINE 4 to CH 3.
The mixer’s LED meters show total stereo output level. For best
results, input signal levels should be set so the meters read 0db or less.

Mixing consists of three parts: playing an input source,
monitoring a second input source, and switching to a second
input source.
playing an input source
1. Set ASSIGN A to the desired audio source (1, 2, 3,
correspond to CH 1, CH 2, CH 3).
2. Slide CROSS FADER all the way to A.

Beyond the Basics
monitoring a second input source
Monitoring a second input source requires listening to an
input source, finding the desired audio section you want to
mix, and adjusting it’s sound level to match the volume of
the first input source (the one designated ASSIGN A).
1. Connect and put on headphones. You can listen to one
source through the headphones while the other source
plays over the sound system.
2. Set ASSIGN B to the second input source (1, 2, 3, correspond
to CH 1, CH 2, CH 3).
3. Press CUE (next to the second input source’s CH control).
4. Set PHONO 1/LINE 1, PHONO 2/LINE 2, or LINE 3/LINE 4 to the second
input source.
5. Play the second input source.
6. Adjust the second input source’s volume (CH) to it’s
preset signal level. If using headphones, adjust CUE LEVEL
(headphones volume) to a comfortable listening level.
7. When you reach the desired section of music to mix, stop
or pause play.
switching to a second input source
1. Play the second input source.
2. When you are ready to hear it play on your sound
system, slide CROSS FADER from A to B.
3. Slide CROSS FADER to the left to fade in ASSIGN A (source one)
and fade out ASSIGN B (source two). Slide CROSS FADER to the
right to fade in ASSIGN B and fade out ASSIGN A. Slide
CROSS FADER to the center to equally mix the two.
• Do not slide CROSS FADER to the center when monitoring a
channel while another is playing. Instead, slide CROSS FADER
to the channel you are not monitoring. For example, to
monitor channel 1 (ASSIGN A) while channel 2 (ASSIGN B) is
playing, slide CROSS FADER to B.

Beyond the Basics
using a microphone
Your mixer has a set of tone controls for the microphone so
you can tailor its high and low frequency sounds.
1. For regular sound, leave MIC TREBLE and MIC BASS set to 0.
2. Rotate MIC TREBLE toward +10 to increase, or toward –10 to
decrease high frequency sounds.
3. Rotate MIC BASS toward +10 to increase, or toward –10 to
decrease low frequency sounds.
MIC TREBLE
MIC BASS
using talkover
When you are not using your microphone, set OFF/ON/TALKOVER
to OFF. The microphone’s input is turned off and all other
audio input sources are unaffected.
1. To use your microphone, set OFF/ON/TALKOVER to ON. The
microphone sound is mixed equally with the other audio
input sources.

Beyond the Basics
2. Set OFF/ON/TALKOVER to TALKOVER so that the microphone’s
sound is louder than the other audio input sources. This
is useful for paging.
using the seven band equalizer
The seven band equalizer controls, LEFT CHANNEL and RIGHT
CHANNEL, further tailor the frequency for CH 1 (PHONO1, LINE 1), CH
2 (PHONO2, LINE 2), and CH 3 (LINE 3, LINE 4) to match your acoustic
surroundings or to suit your personal preference.
LEFT CHANNEL
RIGHT CHANNEL
EQ
1. To activate the equalizer, press EQ. The EQ LED lights.
2. Slide the LEFT CHANNEL and RIGHT CHANNEL controls for a
selected frequency to +12dB to boost, or toward –12dB to
cut the frequency’s sound.
To provide smooth frequency control, the equalizer’s controls
must overlap slightly. Thus, the 1K control has a slight effect
on the range of frequencies covered by the 400Hz and 2.4K
controls.
