For a display of tim e in m inutes and seconds:
1. Press and hold the WAKE button.
2. While holding down WAKE button, m om entarily press the SLEEP button. The
hour digits will display m inutes; the m inute digits will display seconds and start
to increm ent. Release WAKE button to return to the hour and m inute display.

“NO WORRY” BATTERY BACKUP
This clock radio is equipped with a m em ory holding system that can be powered
with a custom er-installed 9-volt alkaline battery (not included). The power failure
protection circuit will not operate unless battery is installed.
SET THE TIME
Your digital clock tim er operates on a 12-hour cycle. The AM indicator on the left of
the display will light up to let you know if the display is reading AM tim e.
1. Press the HOUR button to get the correct AM or PM hour.
2. Press the MIN button to get to the exact m inute tim e.

When norm al household power is interrupted, or AC line cord is unplugged, the
battery will power the clock radio to keep track of tim e and alarm settings pro-
gram m ed into m em ory. When on battery power, the digital display will not light;
however, should WAKE TIME occur during the power interruption, the radio will
operate or the alarm will sound if rem aining battery power is adequate. Norm al
operation will resum e after AC power is restored so you will not have to reset tim e
or alarm .
SERVICE
This product should be serviced only by those specially trained in appropriate
servicing techniques. Attach your sales receipt to the booklet for future reference or
jot down the date this product was purchased or received as a gift. This inform a-
tion will be valuable if service should be required during the warranty period.

Install battery as follows:
1. Rem ove battery com partm ent door (located on the back of the radio) by
applying thum b pressure to area indicated on battery door and then lift the door
out and off the cabinet.

2. Connect a 9-volt battery to battery connector plug.
3. Insert battery in com partm ent and replace com partm ent door.
FCC INFORMATION
NOTE: Alkaline (NEDA 1604A) batteries are recommended. Carbon-zinc
(NEDA 1604) batteries may be used but memory holding time will be substan-
tially reduced. Memory holding time for a fresh alkaline battery is approxi-
mately 8 hours (if radio or alarm are not operated), which should take care of
short, nuisance-type AC power failures. To preserve battery life, the radio
should remain plugged into an AC outlet. As batteries get older, their voltage
drops and memory may be lost. Be sure to replace the battery periodically.
Battery should be removed if the radio will be stored for more than one day.
Leaky batteries can badly damage the clock radio.
SET THE WAKE TIME
This device com plies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: (1) This device m ay not cause harm ful interference, and
(2) this device m ust accept any interference received, including interference that
m ay cause undesired operation.
1. Press and hold WAKE button.
2. While holding the WAKE button, use the HOUR and MIN buttons to change the
display to desired AM or PM wake-up tim e.
3. Release WAKE button and the current tim e is displayed again. Wake tim e is set.
In accordance with FCC requirem ents, changes or m odifications not expressly
approved by Thom son Consum er Electronics could void the user’s authority to
operate this product.
This device generates and uses radio frequency (RF) energy, and if not installed
and used properly, this equipm ent m ay cause interference to radio and television
reception.
If this equipm ent does cause interference to radio or television reception (which
you can determ ine by unplugging the unit), try to correct the interference by one or
m ore of the following m easures:
WAKE TO MUSIC
1. Select an AM or FM station
2. Set wake tim e (See SET THE WAKE TIME directions).
3. Set FUNCTION SELECTOR to MUSIC position. (The WAKE INDICATOR in the
display will light.)

Reorient the receiving antenna (that is, the antenna for the radio or television
that is “receiving” the interference).
POWER FAILURE INDICATOR
The radio will turn on at the wake tim e you set and will turn itself off after approxi-
m ately 2 hours. To turn the radio off sooner, set FUNCTION SELECTOR to OFF.

Move the unit away from the equipm ent that is receiving interference.
When AC power is interrupted (disconnected) for a short period both tim e and
alarm settings will change (unless optional battery is installed). After AC power is
restored (reconnected) the Digital Display will blink to indicate that power was
interrupted and you m ust readjust the TIME and ALARM settings. To stop display
from blinking, press the HOUR or MIN button.
Plug the unit into a different wall outlet so that the unit and the equipm ent
receiving interference are on different branch circuits.
If these m easures do not elim inate the interference, please consult your dealer or
an experienced radio/television technician for additional suggestions. Also, the
Federal Com m unications Com m ission has prepared a helpful booklet, “How To
Identify and Resolve Radio TV Interference Problem s.” This booklet is available
from the U.S. Governm ent Printing Office, Washington, DC 20402. Please specify
stock num ber 004-000-00345-4 when ordering copies.
WAKE TO ALARM
1. Set the wake tim e.
2. Place the FUNCTION SELECTOR in the ALARM position. The WAKE
INDICATOR in the display will light.
The tone alarm will sound at the wake tim e you set and turn itself off after approxi-
m ately 2 hours. To turn the alarm off sooner, set FUNCTION SELECTOR to OFF.
Your clock radio has a 24-hour tim er. When FUNCTION SELECTOR is left in MUSIC
or ALARM wake m ode, it will turn itself on, sound for approxim ately 2 hours, turn
itself off, and turn on again at the sam e tim e the following day.
The WAKE INDICATOR in the display lights when the clock radio is in a WAKE m ode.

The AC power plug is polarized (one blade is wider than the other) and only fits
into AC power outlets one way. If the plug won’t go into the outlet com pletely, turn
the plug over and try to insert it the other way. If it still won’t fit, contact a qualified
electrician to change the outlet, or use a different one. Do n o t a t t e m p t t o b yp a s s

Tuning
SLEEP TO MUSIC
You can drift off to sleep to m usic knowing that the radio will turn itself off autom ati-
cally. Sim ply:
1. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to the OFF position.
2. Press and hold the SLEEP button. The tim e display will exhibit 0:59. The radio
will turn on autom atically.
3. While holding SLEEP button, press the MIN button and tim e will start to count
down. Select any sleep tim e between 59 m inutes and 1 m inute. For sleep tim e of
m ore than 59 m inutes, up to 1 hour and 59 m inutes, m om entarily press the
HOUR button (while holding down the SLEEP button). The display will exhibit
1:59. Then, press MIN button to select the desired am ount of sleep tim e in
excess of 1 hour.
4. Release SLEEP button and the current tim e is once again displayed. The radio is
now on and you can select your station in the usual way. Play will be for the
chosen length of tim e (up to 1 hour 59 m inutes), and then the radio will turn
itself off. If you decide to turn the radio off sooner, press the SNOOZE button.
(The warranty for rental units begins with the first rental.)

BUILT-IN AFC
1. Set the wake tim e.
SEE MARKING ON BOTTOM / BACK OF PRODUCT
The Built-In Autom atic Frequency Control (AFC) works only on FM. It helps to
reduce drift on FM reception and to keep the radio locked in on the FM station to
which it is tuned.
2. Follow the steps under WAKE TO MUSIC or WAKE TO ALARM.
3. Then, proceed with Steps 2 through 4 under SLEEP TO MUSIC.
NOTE: Be sure the FUNCTION SELECTOR is in either MUSIC or ALARM
WAKE position.
When tuning in FM stations, you m ay notice that often the station you desire can
be heard on two or three nearby points on the dial. Always tune carefully to the
loudest and clearest point.

Please com plete and m ail the Product Registration Card packed with your unit. It will m ake
it easier to contact you should it ever be necessary. The return of the card is not required
for warranty coverage.
SNOOZE ALARM OPERATION
The Snooze-Alarm control has three functions:

ANTENNAS
1. It allows extra sleep tim e after the radio com es on in the WAKE TO MUSIC
m ode. Press SNOOZE bar to silence the radio. About 9 m inutes later, the radio
will play again.
2. It allows extra sleep tim e in the WAKE TO ALARM m ode. When the alarm
sounds, touch the SNOOZE bar to silence the alarm . About 9 m inutes later, the
alarm will sound again. You can use the SNOOZE feature repeatedly for up to
two hours, after which the radio or alarm will turn off until the next day.
3. It shuts off the sleep cycle. (See SLEEP TO MUSIC.)

AM Antenna - A built-in ferrite rod antenna elim inates the need for an outside
antenna for AM reception. Rotating the unit slightly m ay im prove reception of
distant AM stations.

FM Antenna - The power cord acts as your FM antenna. The power cord picks up
m oderate to strong stations and elim inates the need for an external antenna in
m ost strong signal areas. Be sure the power cord is stretched out to its full length.
Do not coil or bunch the cord together. Changing position of the power cord m ay
im prove reception.
