Brief Operating Instructions  
1.Connection  
Connect the antenna leador CATV cable or externalequipments(such as Antenna, Cable TV,VCD,DVD,  
VTR,Set topbox,etc.)to the corresponding terminals or interface on the TV rear(please refer tothe owners

3.Switching on/off

9. Ventilation  
Slots and openings in the cabinetback or bottomare provided for

The LCDpanel used inthis product is made of glass.Therefore, itcan be brokenwhen the productis dropped orapplied  
with impact. Becareful not tobe injured bybroken glass pieces in case theLCD panel breaks.

11. Power source  
This TVshould be operatedonly from thetype of powersource indicated onthe marking label.If you arenot sure ofthe type of  
power supply toyour home, consultyour appliance dealeror local powercompany. For TVs intended to operatefrom battery  
power, orother sources, referto the operatinginstructions.  
12. Power cordprotection  
Power-supply cords shouldbe routed sothat they arenot likely tobe walked onor pinched byitems placed uponor against  
them, paying particularattention to cords at plugs, conveniencereceptacles, and thepoint where theyexit from theappliance.  
13. Outdoor antennaGrounding  
If an outsideantenna or cablesystem is connectedto the TV,  
be sure theantenna or cablesystem is groundedto provide  
some protection againstvoltage surges andbuilt-up static  
charges. Section 810of the NationalElectrical Code,  
ANSI/NFPA NO.70,provides information withrespect to proper  
grounding of themast and supportingstructure, grounding of  
the lead-in wireto an antennadischarge unit, sizeof  
grounding conductors, locationof antenna discharge  
unit, connection togrounding electrodes, andrequirements  
for the groundingelectrode.  
14. Lightning  
For added Protectionfor this TV receiver duringa lightning  
storm, or whenit is leftunattended and unusedfor long  
period of time,unplug it fromthe wall outletand disconnect  
the antenna orcable system. This will preventdamage to  
the TVdue to lightingand power linesurges.  
15. Power lines  
An outsideantenna system shouldnot be locatedin the vicinityof overhead powerlines, or otherelectric light orpower circuits,  
or where itcan fall intosuch power lines.When installing anoutside antenna system,extreme care shouldbe taken tokeep  
from touching suchpower lines orcircuits as contactwith them mightbe fatal.  
16. Overloading  
Do not overloadwall outlets andextension cords as this can resultin a riskof fire orelectric shock.  
17. Object andliquid entry  
Never push objects of any kindinto this TV through openings as they maytouch dangerous voltagepoints or shortout parts that  
could result infire or electricshock. Never spillliquid of anykind into theTV.  
18. Servicing  
do not attemptto service this TV yourselfas opening orremoving covers mayexpose you todangerous voltage orother hazards.  
Refer all servicingto qualified servicepersonnel.  
19. Damage requiringservice  
Unplug this TV from thewall outlet andrefer servicing toqualified service personnelunder the followingconditions:  
a. When thepower supply cordor plug is damaged or frayed.  
b. If liquidhas been spilled,or objects havefallen into theTV.  
c. If theTV ha been exposed torain or water.  
d. If theTV does not operate normallybe following theoperating instructions.Adjust only thosecontrols that arecoved by the  
operating instructions, as an improper adjustmentof other controls may result indamage and willoften require extensive  
work by aqualified technician torestore the TV to its normal operation.

20. Replacement parts  
When replacement parts are required, besure the servicetechnician uses replacementparts specified byus that havethe  
same characteristics as the original part.Unauthorized substitutions mayresult in fire,electric shock, injuryto persons orother  
hazards.  
21. Safety check  
Upon completion ofany service orrepairs to this TV,ask the servicetechnician to performroutine safety checks to determine  
that the TV is inproper operating condition.  
22. Heat  
This TVproduct should besituated away fromheat sources suchas radiation, stoves,or other products (including amplifiers)  
that produce heat.  
23. Non-active pixels  
The LCD panelis a veryhigh technology productwith 921,600 thinfilm transistors, givingyou fine picturedetails. Occasionally,  
a few non-active pixels may appearon the screenas a fixedpoint of blue, green orred. Please notethat this does not affectthe  
the performance ofyour product.

Selecting a location for the TV

You can use yourTV as a monitor for your PC or NB by connecting through its 15pin standard RGB interface . Connect

Connecting the aerial  
To enjoy the terrestrial signal transmitted by your local TV station, you need an indoor or outdoor aerial (not supplied).  
Perfect picture quality requires a good signal and generally means that an outdoor aerial must be implemented. The  
exact type and location of the aerial will depend on your particular area. Consult your local dealer or service  
personnel for best advice. If you are a subscriber of your local CATV net, the outdoor or indoor aerial is not needed.

Connecting your TV  
Connecting a cable converter box  
This televisionhas anextended tuningrange andcan tune most cable channels withoutusing a cable  
company suppliedconverter box. Some cable companies offerpremium paychannels inwhich signalis  
scrambled. Descramblingthese signals for normalviewing requires the use of a descrambler device which  
is generallyprovided bythe cable company.  
For subscribers to Basic Cable TV Service  
For basiccable service not requiringa Converter/Descramblerbox, connectthe CATV 75ohm Coaxial  
Cable directlyto the Antenna Jack onthe backof the television.  
For subscribers to Scrambled Cable TV Service  
If yousubscribe toa cable service whichrequires the use ofa Converter/Descramblerbox, connectthe  
incoming cable to the Converter/Descrambler boxand connectthe outputof the box tothe Antenna Jack  
on the back ofthe television. Follow the connections shownbelow. Set the television tothe outputof the  
Converter/Descrambler box(usuallychannel 3or 4)anduse the Converter/Descrambler boxto select  
channels.  
For Subscribers to Unscrambled Basic Cable with Scrambled Premium Channels  
If yousubscribe toa cable service inwhich basiccable channels are unscrambledand premiumchannels  
require the use ofa Converter/Descrambledbox, youmay wishto use a two-setsignal splitter(sometimes  
called[two setcoupler) andanA/B Switchbox fromthe cable installer oran electronics supply store.  
Follow the connections shownbelow. With the switch inthe B position, youcan directlytune any  
nonscrambled channels on yourTV. Withthe switchin the A position, tune your TVto the output ofthe  
Converter/Descrambler box(usuallychannel 3or 4)and use the boxto tune scrambled channels.  
Note:  
When you use a converter box with your TV, there may be features that you cannot  
program using the remote control.

Preparing the remote control for use  
Installing the remote control batteries  
1. Openthe batterycover onthe backof the remote control.  
2. InstalltwoAAAsize(1.5V) batteries. Match the + and - signs on the batteries tothe signs on the battery  
compartment.  
3. Close the batterycove.  
Note:  
1.Dispose of your batteries in a designated disposal area. Do not throw your batteries into fire.  
2.Do not mix battery types or combine used batteries with new ones.  
3.Remove dead batteries immediately to prevent battery acid from leaking into the battery compartment.  
4.If you do not intend to use the remote control for a long time, remove the batteries.  
5.The effective range of remote control is suggested in the figure.

Shortcut keys operation  
Adjusting sound volume  
Press VOL+ or VOL- on the remote control or  
on the TV to increase or decrease the sound volume. The  
VOL  
segment of the indicator will increase or decrease.  
Muting the sound  
Press the MUTE on the remote controlto temporarilyturn offthe sound.To restore the sound, press MUTE  
again.The mute function is automatically turnedoff whenany ofthe followingbuttons are pressed: POWER,  
VOL+/-, or SAP .  
Changing channels  
To change the channel, you can  
1.Press CH + or CH- on the remote control or  
on the TV.

2.Press the channel number buttons(0-9).  
1) To select a one-digit channel : Press the 1-9 button to select channel directly.  
2) To select a two-digit channel : Press a button from 1-9 to select the first number, then press a button  
from 0-9 again to select the second number. For example, to select channel 28, press the 2 button first ,  
--2 will appear on the screen, and then press the 8 button, -28 will appear on the screen for one second.  
3) To select a three-digit channel: Press the 1 button to select the first number, then press buttons from 0-9  
successively to select the other two numbers. For example, to select channel 120, press the button 1 ,  
--1 will appear on the screen, then press the button 2 and the button 0 successively.  
Displaying the current channel number on screen  
Press the DISPLAY button on the remote control, the current channel number and TV source mode will display on the  
top-right corner of the screen. Whenever you want to cancel it, press the DISPLAY button again.  
Switching between two channels  
Press the RECALL button on the remote control to return to the previous channel that you have just viewed.  
Press the RECALL button repeatedly, the screen will alternate between the present and previous channels.  
Setting the child lock  
Press the LOCK button to lock or unlock the TV.  
When the TV is locked, the screen will turn to black background, and nothing can be viewed unless you press  
LOCK again to unlock it.  
Setting the sleep timer  
Press SLEEP on the remote control to display SLEEP TIMER screen. Press SLEEP continuously to progressively set  
the sleep timer for longer periods of time starting with 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes,  
120 minutes,180 minutes, 240 minutes and then back to 0 minute. Selecting 0 minute turns the sleep timer off.

You can enjoy watchingTV while you listen to high-fidelity stereo sound with the BTSC feature. BTSC can  
also transmit a second audio program(SAP) containing a second language or other audio information.

NOTE: In the main menu, you can acquire the same effects by adjusting the sound menu.  
Scanning all available channels  
You can scan all available channels by press the SCAN button on the remote control .

Using Parental Function

Cleaning and care
