PRECAUTIONS
Safety
Operation
Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabi-
net, turn off the unit and have it checked by quali-
fied personnel before operating it any further.
• To disconnect the m ains lead, pull it out by the
plug. Never pull the lead itself.
• Condensation
If you pour a cold liquid into a glass, water vapor
in the air will condense on the surface of the
glass.
This is the condensation of m oisture.
Condensation on the head drum , one of the m ost
crucial parts of the VCR, will cause dam age to the
tape. The VCR should not be operated for at least
2 hours after being m oved from a cold to a hot
environm ent to avoid condensation from occur-
ring on the head drum .
Installation
• Choose a location in which air can pass through
the ventilation holes in the bottom , top and back
of the unit to prevent it from overheating.
• Do not install the unit near heat sources such as
radiators or air ducts or in a place subject to direct
sunlight, excessive dust, m echanical vibrations or
shock.
• Do not place heavy objects or heat-generating
objects on the VCR, or the cabinet could be dam -
aged or the tem perature inside the VCR could
rise, which could cause a fault.
Cleaning
• Be careful; when the surface of the case is wiped
with a volatile agent such as benzine, alcohol,
thinner, etc., or a chem ically processed cloth, the
surface finish m ay be degraded or its coating m ay
peel off.
• Never bring a m agnet or m agnetized object near
the VCR because it will adversely affect the per-
form ance of the VCR.
• Do not install the unit in an inclined position.
The unit is designed for operation in a horizontal
position.
Repacking
• It is wise to save the packing m aterials and box in
case you ever need to ship or store your unit.

INSTALLATION
VIDEO CONNECTIONS
AUDIO CONNECTIONS
Use coaxial cables when connecting a cam era and a
m onitor to this VCR.
Note: Audio recording can be perform ed at the 09
and 27-hour recording speeds and audio playback at
the 09 and 27 speeds.
Note: Long cable runs to distant cam eras m ay
cause signal deterioration and/or sync discrep-
ancies. If these problem s occur, use video line
am plifiers and/or cam eras having phase-adjustable
line-locked vertical sync.
Audio In: Accepts an audio signal from a cam era,
external sound equipm ent, or another recorder
(Line: 8 dBm , 50 kohm ).
Audio Out: Provides an audio output for a m onitor
or another recorder (–9 dBm , 600 ohm , unbalanced).
Video Input
In single cam era system s, connect the cam era to the
Video IN BNC term inal on the VCR rear panel. Use
of a 2:1 interlace cam era is highly recom m ended;
otherwise, the m onitor will show vertical distortion
of the TIME/DATE characters.
USING THE 15-PIN ADAPTER
In m ultiple cam era system s, connect the switcher
output to the Video IN BNC term inal. Because m ul-
tiple cam era system s require synchronization, use
of cam eras having line-locked vertical sync or a gen-
locked m aster drive/sync source is highly re-
com m ended. The use of vertical interval switchers
is also recom m ended.
Attach the wires of the alarm switch, door sen-
sor or warning lam p to the 15-pin adapter
using screws.
After connection, connect the adapter to the
EXTERNAL INTERFACE jack on the rear of the
VCR.
See pages 10 and 11 for details.

Maintenance
Two periodic m aintenance steps are recom m ended
to insure the peak perform ance of this products.
1. Periodically m ake a careful observation of the
quality of the playback video. If there are excess-
ive dropouts (noise specks) across the video pic-
ture, and the TRACKING control does not clear
the picture, then head cleaning m ay be necess-
ary. Obtain a high quality head cleaning kit, and
follow the directions carefully. The length of
tim e between cleaning depends on the am ount
of airborne contam inates around the tape
recorder and/or cassette.
2. The unit should be inspected every 3500 hours of
continuous usage by the dealer from whom the
recorder was purchased.

instructions should be adhered to.
4. Follow Instructions — All operating and use instructions should
be followed.
d. If the unit does not operate norm ally by following the operating
instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the
operating instructions, as an im proper adjustm ent of other
controls m ay result in dam age and will often require extensive
work by a qualified technician to restore the unit to its norm al
operation.
5. Cleaning — Unplug the unit from the outlet before cleaning. Do
not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a dam p cloth for
cleaning.
6. Attachm ents — Do not use attachm ents not recom m ended by the

exam ple, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub,
in a wet basem ent, near a swim m ing pool, in an unprotected out-
door installation, or any area which is classified as a wet location.
f. When the unit exhibits a distinct change in perform ance – this
indicates a need for service.
18. Replacem ent Parts — When replacem ent parts are required, be
sure the service technician has used replacem ent parts specified
by the m anufacturer or have the sam e characteristics as the orig-
inal part. Unauthorized substitutions m ay result in fire, electric
shock or other hazards.
8. Accessories — Do not place this unit on an unstable stand, tripod,
bracket, or m ount. The unit m ay fall, causing serious injury to a

PRECAUTIONS
Safety

Note: Audio recording can be perform ed at the 06,
18 and 30-hour recording speeds and audio play-
back at the 06, A18, and A30 speeds.
Note: Long cable runs to distant cam eras m ay
cause signal deterioration and/or sync discrep-
ancies. If these problem s occur, use video line
am plifiers and/or cam eras having phase-adjustable
line-locked vertical sync.
Audio In: Accepts an audio signal from a cam era,
external sound equipm ent, or another recorder
(Line: 8 dBm , 50 kohm ).
Audio Out: Provides an audio output for a m onitor
or another recorder (–9 dBm , 600 ohm , unbalanced).
Video Input
In single cam era system s, connect the cam era to the
Video IN BNC term inal on the VCR rear panel. Use
of a 2:1 interlace cam era is highly recom m ended;
otherwise, the m onitor will show vertical distortion
of the TIME/DATE characters.
Attach the wires of the alarm switch, door sen-
sor or warning lam p to the 15-pin adapter
using screws.
After connection, connect the adapter to the
EXTERNAL INTERFACE jack on the rear of the
VCR.
See pages 10 and 11 for details.

Maintenance
Two periodic m aintenance steps are recom m ended
to insure the peak perform ance of this product.
