The batteries serve as a back-up power supply. To operate
the voice activated function and for continuous use of the
projector, install the AC adaptor at the base of the unit as
shown below.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERIES
The main unit uses:
•
3 x UM-4 / AAA 1.5V batteries
The optional wake-up vibration alarm VR101A (not included
in the package) uses:
•
2 x UM-3 / AA 1.5V batteries
NOTE It is recommended that you use alkaline batteries
with this product for longer performance.
NOTE To help conserve energy, turn the PROJECTION
ON switch to OFF when you do not wish to use it.
Insert batteries before first use, matching the polarity (+ and
-) as shown below. Press RESET after each battery change.
ABOUT ATOMIC CLOCK RECEPTION
The clock automatically synchronizes the current time and
date when it is brought within range of the WWVB-60 atomic
clock signal generated from Fort Collins, Colorado. For more

NOTE The signals are collected by the main unit when it is
within 932 miles (1500 km) of a signal.

Once batteries have been installed in the clock, the reception
icon will flash to indicate it is searching for a signal.
SET CLOCK / CALENDAR
Before you can manually set the clock and calendar, you
must specify the current time zone you live in and the time
format (12- or 24-hour) as follows:
When the reception signal has been received the reception
icon will show the signal strength as shown below:
1. Press and hold CLOCK for 2 seconds. The time zone
will flash. When an offset hour has been set (e.g. +1, the
time displayed will be the RF clock time plus 1 hour).

Press the CLOCK button to toggle between 3 types of

hour offset, 12 / 24 hour format, hour, minute, year,
MM / DD or DD / MM format, month, day and language
for day of the week and talking clock.

NOTE The US time zones are PA (Pacific), MO (Mountain),

1. Press and hold ALARM for 2 seconds.
Press SNOOZE / LIGHT to activate the backlight for 8
seconds.

The clock displays the current indoor temperature. To choose
between °C / °F, press the °C / °F button to select the setting
you want.

3. Press ALARM to select alarm 1 or 2. The hour will start
flashing.
This product has two daily alarms that can be set to go off
at the same time every day. You can choose to be woken
up by a melody, beeping or talking alarm sound and / or
vibration. See the table below for the alarm sound icon and
its meaning:

If you want to change the time, sound or volume, continue
as follows:
SNOOZE / TURNING THE ALARM OFF
When activated, the alarm icon flashes, the backlight and
projector turn on for 8 seconds and the alarm sounds for 2
minutes if no key is pressed.

The talking clock can learn to turn the projector on, the
alarm(s) on or off, and tell you the time, temperature and
alarm status by listening to simple commands given by you.
It can recognize commands from up to 2 users. The talking
clock voice prompts take you through how to train and use
this feature.

TRAIN THE TALKING CLOCK
USE THE TALKING CLOCK (ONCE IT HAS BEEN
TRAINED)
To use the talking clock you need to train it to recognise
your commands. To do this, follow the key steps below and
listen to the clock’s voice prompts:

WAKE-UP VIBRATING ALARM – VR101A
(OPTIONAL)
The vibrating alarm receives a signal from the clock and
performs a wake-up function by vibrating. It is designed to
go under your pillow.
The device has a range of roughly 50 feet and has an LED
meter to show data transmission and battery level.
3. Press TALK to erase the trained voice commands. The
“IIII” icon will stop moving when the memory has been

The switch within the vibrating alarm can adjust to alarm 1
or alarm 2, or both. Simply select the alarm time on the
clock unit when you want the vibrating alarm to wake you
up.
PROJECTION UNIT
The projection unit can display both time and alarm status.
To use this feature:
NOTE The vibrating alarm is powered by 2 x UM-3 / AA
1.5V batteries. It is also compatible with rechargeable
batteries.
