THIS CAMERA

Mid-roll change (MRC)

• You can change and remove film in the

middle of the roll and reload it later to

continue picture-taking. When you reload

the film cassette into the camera, the

magnetic Information Exchange (ix)

technology of the camera will automatically

rewind the film to the first unexposed frame.

This feature allows you to switch to another

film speed at mid roll to match scene

requirements, e.g., the use of high-speed

film for indoors verses low-speed film for

outdoors. Also, you can dedicate individual

film rolls to specific subjects or share the

camera with the family while each member

uses their own film cassette.

Triple format selection

• You can take three different size pictures:

Classic (C), Group/HDTV (H), and

Panoramic (P) pictures from the same film

cassette. The viewfinder frame changes to

match each format selection.

Date and time imprinting/titling

• You can choose to have date and time

information printed on the back of your

prints. With this camera, you can also

choose a print title from the Title-Select

List and a language (see Setting the

Language) before you take a picture.

You also have the option to choose an

additional title for the entire roll of film. The

selected titles will be printed on the back of

your prints. See your photofinisher for a full

description of available services.

Picture quality information exchange

(PQix)

• Your camera features magnetic information

exchange that records information about

lighting conditions and exposure on the film

cassette to assist the photofinishing lab

with color correction and exposure

Double exposure protection (DEP)

• You don’t need to worry about accidentally

re-exposing your film. Your camera reads

adjustments, providing you with the best

possible results.

LOADING THE BATTERY

ATTACHING THE STRAP

This camera uses one

3-volt lithium KODAK

K123LA (or equivalent)

Battery that supplies

power for all camera

operations.

1. Insert the shorter looped

end of the strap

behind the STRAP

POST (10).

1. Open the BATTERY

DOOR (11) by using

your finger tip.

• Before you remove

the old battery, close

the lens cover/flash.

2. Thread the longer end

of the strap through

the shorter loop.

into the chamber

as shown.

3. Pull the strap tight.

load a new

battery into

the camera, you will need to reset the

date and time.

Low-battery indicator

Power shut-off

It’s time to replace the battery when—

To save battery power, the camera will

automatically go into a sleep mode if it is

not operated for more than 60 seconds.

You can press the shutter button, zoom

control, film-rewind, mode buttons or

rewind button to awaken the camera.

• the BATTERY SYMBOL (24) “blinks” and

the “BATTERY LOW” message

appears on the LCD panel or

• none of the indicators, except for steady

battery symbol, appears on the LCD

panel and the shutter button cannot

be released.

Battery tips

• Remember to keep a spare battery with

you at all times.

• Read and follow all warnings and

instructions supplied by the battery

manufacturer.

• Keep batteries away from children.

• Do not try to take apart, recharge or

short circuit the battery, or subject it to

high temperature or fire.

• Store batteries in their original

packaging prior to use.

2. Insert the film cassette completely into

the FILM CHAMBER (16). Make sure the

Film Status Indicator (FSI) on the film

cassette is at ● (#1 position) for a new

cassette or at ◗ (#2 position) for a

partially exposed cassette.

LOADING THE FILM

You can load film into the camera with the

lens cover/flash opened or closed.

1. Turn the camera upside down and

slide the FILM-DOOR LATCH (17) to

automatically open the FILM DOOR (15).

• Do not force the film cassette into

the film chamber.

• The film door will open only when the

film chamber is empty or the film in

the camera is completely rewound

into the film cassette.

3. Close the film door to start the auto-

film advance. The FRAME COUNTER (26)

on the LCD PANEL (14) will show the

number of frames remaining on the film

cassette.

• After you close the safety-interlock

film door, you cannot open the door

until the film is completely rewound

into the film cassette.

You can take Classic (C), Group/HDTV (H)*

and Panoramic (P) pictures on the same

film cassette (see the table on the

• The lens barrel will automatically

return to the wide-mode position after

approximately 60 seconds.

This camera has a motorized-zoom lens

that lets you select the ideal lens-focal

length for taking pictures. When you turn

the camera on, it is initially set to the

wide-mode position.

1. Lift the LENS COVER/FLASH (3) up to

uncover the LENS (7) and to activate

the flash.

3. Keep the subject within the distance

range for the speed of film in your

camera. Don’t take pictures beyond the

maximum distance or your pictures will

be dark.

TAKING FLASH PICTURES

In dim light, such as indoors or outdoors

in heavy shade, or on dark overcast days,

you need flash. Your camera features an

automatic flash that fires when you need

it and provides automatic daylight fill flash

under certain bright-light conditions

where shadows may exist. The flip-up

flash also helps to minimize red eyes in

flash pictures and to prevent hand

When you partially depress the shutter

When bright light indoors or outdoors

comes from behind the subject

(backlighting), dark shadows (especially

on faces) may occur. Use fill flash to

lighten these shadows.

When you do not want to use the flash,

especially indoors where flash is

prohibited, such as in theaters and

museums, or when you want to take

twilight scenes or distant subjects that are

beyond the flash range, or capture the

ambiance of existing light, use the flash-

off feature.

1. Press the SELECT BUTTON (19) until the

“FILL FLASH” message and indicator

appear on the LCD PANEL (14).

USING THE

DATE AND TIME IMPRINTING

“SELFTIMER”

This camera has a quartz clock and

automatic calendar through the

year 2099.

You can include yourself in pictures

by using the self-timer feature. The

electronic self-timer will delay the

release of the shutter button for

approximately 10 seconds after you

press the shutter button.

Traditional cameras print date and/or time

information directly onto the film. Your

camera uses the film’s magnetic data

strip to record date and time information

which your photofinisher imprints on the

back of your photographs.

1. Place the camera on a tripod (TRIPOD

SOCKET [22]) and press the ENTER

BUTTON (18). The “SELFTIMER

READY” message and indicator will

appear on the LCD PANEL (14).

Setting the date and time

1. Repeatedly press the MENU

BUTTON (21) until the LCD PANEL (14)

displays “SET DATE.”

2. Frame your picture in the VIEWFINDER

EYEPIECE (12).

2. Press the SELECT BUTTON (19) to select

the date function. The first two digits of

the date (indicating the month) will

“blink.” Press the ZOOM-DIAL LEVER (1)

to the right or left to increase or

decrease the number.

3. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON (2). The

SELF-TIMER LAMP (8) on the front of the

camera will blink during the self-timer

countdown.

• To cancel the self-timer selection

before the shutter releases, press the

ENTER button or close the lens-

cover flash.

• The self-timer is automatically

canceled after the shutter releases.

3. Press the ENTER BUTTON (18) to store

the selected month and to activate the

next “blinking” date option (follow

steps 2 and 3 to complete your

selection).

• After you set the “date” or “time,”

the LCD panel will display “DATE IS”

or “TIME IS” followed by the

selected date or time.

4. Repeat steps 1–3 to choose

“SET TIME” and set the selection.

3. Press the ENTER BUTTON (18) to store

the selected format.

• After you set the “date” or “time,” the

LCD panel will display “DATE

FORMAT IS” followed by the selected

format.

The date and time formats are automati-

cally set for you according to the

designated language listed below. If you

want to change the automatic settings

for date and time formats, see Chang-

ing the date and time formats.

SETTING THE LANGUAGE

This feature will allow you to view one of

three display formats:

U.S. “ENGLISH” is initially set into the

memory of this camera or you can

change the language to “DEUTSCH” for

German, “FRANCAIS” for French,

“ESPANOL” for Spanish or [Katakana] for

Japanese.

UNLOADING THE FILM

Automatic rewind

The camera automatically rewinds the

film into the cassette after the last

exposure.

1. Wait for the film to completely rewind

into the film cassette.

• The “FILM REWINDING” message

will appear on the LCD PANEL (14) and

the FRAME COUNTER (26) will count

down to “0.”

• The empty FILM-PRESENCE

INDICATOR (27) and “REMOVE FILM”

message will appear on the LCD

panel when the film is rewound. (The

message will only appear when the

lens cover/flash is up.)

3. Remove the film cassette from the

camera.

• The FSI on the film cassette will be

at ✖.

Mid-roll change (MRC)

CARING FOR YOUR CAMERA

This camera has MRC feature where a

partially exposed film cassette can be

rewound for later use. The FSI on a

partially exposed film cassette will be set

to ◗ (#2 position). When you reload the

film cassette into the camera, “SEARCH-

ING” will appear on the LCD panel. The

camera will automatically advance the

film to the first unexposed frame and

“FRESH FILM” will appear on the LCD

panel. Film can be rewound and reloaded

until the last frame is taken. The camera

will automatically rewind the film and set

the FSI to ✖(#3 position).

1. Protect the camera from dust,

moisture, sudden impact, and

excessive heat.

CAUTION: Do not use solvents or harsh

or abrasive cleaners on the camera body.

2. If the lens appears dirty, breathe on it

to form a mist and wipe the surface

gently with a soft, lintless cloth or lens-

cleaning tissue. Never wipe a dry lens.

CAUTION: Do not use solvents or

solutions not designed for cleaning

camera lenses. Do not use chemically

treated tissues intended for cleaning

eye glasses.

1. Gently press the FILM-REWIND

BUTTON (20) by using a pointed object

to start the auto-film rewind.

3. Remove the battery when you store

the camera for an extended time.

Changement du film à mi-rouleau

• Vous pouvez changer et retirer un film en cours

d’utilisation, puis le charger de nouveau pour

continuer la prise de photos. Lorsque vous

rechargez la cassette de film dans l’appareil, la

technologie d’échange d’information (ix)

permet d’avancer automatiquement le film

jusqu’à la première pose non exposée. Grâce à

cette fonction, vous pouvez passer à une autre

sensibilité de film en cours de rouleau, selon

les exigences de la scène (par exemple,

utilisation d’un film à sensibilité élevée pour

l’intérieur, et d’un film de faible sensibilité pour

l’extérieur). Vous pouvez aussi décider de

consacrer un rouleau de film à un sujet en

particulier, ou encore de partager votre

appareil-photo avec les membres de votre

famille, chacun utilisant sa propre cassette

de film.

Choix de trois formats

• Vous pouvez prendre des photos en

trois formats différents, classique (C), groupe/

HDTV (H) et panoramique (P), sur la même

cassette de film. Le cadre du viseur se

déplace pour délimiter la prise de vue

correspondant au format sélectionné.

Impression de la date et de l’heure/Titre

• Vous pouvez décider de faire imprimer la date

et l’heure au verso de vos photos. Avec cet

appareil-photo, vous pouvez aussi choisir

d’imprimer un titre tiré de la Liste de titres

dans une langue de votre choix (voir Sélection

de la langue) avant de prendre la photo. Vous

pouvez même décider d’ajouter un titre

additionnel identifiant le rouleau entier. Les

titres sélectionnés seront imprimés au verso de

vos photos. Consultez votre laboratoire de

traitement photo pour connaître tous les

services qu’ils vous offrent.

Amélioration de la qualité de l’image

• Votre appareil-photo est doté de la fonction

d’échange d’information magnétique, laquelle

enregistre sur la cassette du film les

informations sur les conditions d’éclairage et

l’exposition de façon à aider le laboratoire de

traitement photo à faire les corrections de

couleurs et les ajustements d’exposition qui

s’imposent, et vous procurer ainsi les meilleurs

résultats possible.

Protection contre les doubles expositions

• Vous n’avez pas à vous soucier d’exposer par

erreur deux fois le même film. Votre appareil-

photo lit l’indicateur de l’état du film sur la

cassette de façon à ne pas réexposer le film.

INSTALLATION DE LA PILE

FIXATION DE LA DRAGONNE

Une Pile au lithium de

3 volts KODAK K123LA

(ou l’équivalent) fournit

l’alimentation nécessaire

3. Fermez le couvercle du

compartiment pour déclencher l’avance

automatique du film. Le COMPTEUR DE

affichera le nombre de poses restantes

dans la cassette de film.

UTILISATION DU

RETARDATEUR

Cet appareil possède une horloge à

quartz et un calendrier automatique allant

jusqu’en l’an 2099.

Vous pouvez être sur les photos que vous

prenez grâce au retardateur. Une fois que

vous avez appuyé sur le déclencheur, le

retardateur électronique retient le

déverrouillage de l’obturateur pendant

environ 10 secondes.

Les appareils-photo traditionnels

impriment la date ou l’heure de la photo,

ou les deux, directement sur le film. Votre

appareil utilise plutôt la bande magnétique

du film pour y enregistrer les données de

date et d’heure que votre laboratoire

pourra imprimer au verso de vos photos.

Changement du film à mi-rouleau

Cet appareil-photo dispose de la fonction

de changement du film à mi-rouleau,

permettant de rembobiner une cassette

de film partiellement exposé pour la

réutiliser ultérieurement. L’indicateur de

l’état du film sur la cassette de film

partiellement exposé est positionné à ◗

(position 2). Lorsque vous chargez de

nouveau la cassette dans l’appareil-

photo, le message «RECHERCHE»

apparaît sur le panneau ACL. L’appareil-

photo avance automatiquement le film

jusqu’à la première pose non exposée,

puis le message «NOUVEAU FILM»

s’affiche. Le film peut être retiré et

rechargé jusqu’à ce que la dernière pose

soit exposée. À ce moment, l’appareil-

photo rembobine le film automatiquement

et positionne l’indicateur de l’état du film à

✖(position 3).

3. Retirez la cassette de film de

l’appareil-photo.

• L’indicateur de l’état du film sera

positionné à ✖.

APPAREIL-PHOTO

1. Protégez votre appareil de la poussière, de

l’humidité, des chocs et de la chaleur

excessive.

• Vous pouvez réinsérer la cassette

de film partiellement exposé dans

l’appareil-photo pour poursuivre la

prise de photos ou porter ce

dernier à votre laboratoire pour le

traitement.

ATTENTION : N’utilisez pas de solvants ni de

produits forts ou abrasifs pour nettoyer le

boîtier de l’appareil.

2. Si l’objectif semble sale, soufflez dessus

jusqu’à ce qu’il s’y forme une buée;

essuyez ensuite la surface au moyen d’un

chiffon doux et non pelucheux, ou d’un

linge spécial pour le nettoyage des lentilles.

N’essuyez jamais un objectif sec.

ATTENTION : N’utilisez pas de solvants ni de

solutions qui ne sont pas destinés au

nettoyage des objectifs d’appareil-photo.

N’utilisez pas de papiers traités avec des

produits chimiques servant au nettoyage des

lunettes.

3. Retirez la pile lorsque vous rangez

l’appareil-photo durant une longue période.

ATTENTION : Pour éviter tout bris ou choc

électrique, n’essayez pas de démonter ou de

COMO IMPRIMIR LA FECHA Y HORA

“AUTODISPARADOR”

Usted se puede incluir en las fotografías

usando la función de disparador

automático. El disparador automático

electrónico permitirá que el disparador se

dispare aproximadamente 10 segundos

después que lo oprima.

Esta cámara tiene un reloj de cuarzo y un

calendario automático hasta el año 2099.

CUIDADO DE LA CÁMARA

1. Proteja la cámara del polvo, humedad,

parcialmente expuesta se colocará en ◗
