The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within a
triangle is intended to alert you to the presence of
uninsulated dangerous voltage within your shelf
system’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude
to constitute risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within a triangle is intended to
alert you to the presence of important operating and
maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature
accompanying your shelf system.
Warning
Your shelf system uses a laser system. Follow all operating
instructions in this guide, and save this guide for future
reference. If your shelf system requires servicing, contact
the seller or our service center.
To prevent direct exposure to the laser radiation, do not
open the case. Invisible laser radiation is present when the
case is opened or the interlocks are defeated. Do not stare
into the laser beams.
Use of any controls, adjustments, or procedures other than
those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation
exposure.

Any change or modification to your shelf system not
expressly approved by Insignia or its authorized parties
could void your authority to operate your shelf system.

Attachments—Do not use attachments not recommended by
Insignia because they may cause hazards.
Water and moisture—Do not use your shelf system near
water. For example, near a bath tub, in a wet basement, or
near a swimming pool.

Ventilation—To ensure reliable operation of your shelf system
and to protect it from overheating, ventilation slots and
openings are provided in the cabinet back or bottom. Do not
block these openings. Do not place your shelf system on a bed,
sofa, rug, or other similar surface. Your shelf system should
never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. Do not
place your shelf system in a built-in installation such as a
bookcase or rack unless correct ventilation is provided or the
manufacturer’s instructions have been adhered to.

Power sources—Use only the type of power source indicated
on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power
supply to your home, consult Insignia Tech Support or local
power company. For shelf systems intended to operate from
battery power or other sources, refer to the operating
instructions.
Grounding or polarization—Your shelf system is equipped
with a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug having one
blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power
outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to
insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the
plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace
your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the
polarized plug.

Power cord protection—Route power supply cords so that
they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed
upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at
plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit
from your shelf system.
Lightning—For added protection for your shelf system during
a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for
long periods of time, unplug it from the power outlet and
disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent
damage to your shelf system due to lightning and power line
surges.

Overloading—Do not overload power outlets and extension
cords because this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
Object and liquid entry—Never push objects of any kind into
your shelf system through openings, because they may touch
dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in

Servicing—Do not attempt to service your shelf system
yourself, because opening or removing covers may expose you
to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to
qualified service personnel.
Damage requiring service—Unplug your shelf system from
the power outlet and refer servicing to qualified service
personnel under the following conditions:

When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into your
shelf system.

If your shelf system has been exposed to rain or water.
If your shelf system does not operate normally by following
the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that

adjustment of other controls may result in damage and
often requires extensive work by a qualified technician to
restore your shelf system to its normal operation.

If your shelf system has been dropped or damaged in any
way.
When your shelf system exhibits a distinct change in
performance.

Replacement parts—When replacement parts are required,
make sure that the service technician uses replacement parts
specified by the manufacturer that have the same
characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions
may result in fire, electric shock, injury to persons, or other
hazards.

your shelf system, ask the service technician to perform
routine safety checks to determine that your shelf system is in

Using the remote control
To use the remote control:
1 Insert the batteries into the remote control, noting the orientation
of the + and - sides of the battery.
2 Point the remote control at the main player unit and press the
button you want.
Maximum range for the remote control is within 23 feet (7 m)
Notes
Do not expose the remote control to shock or liquids.
Do not use the remote control in an area with high humidity.
Do not place the remote control in direct sunlight.
Do not place objects, such as furniture, between the remote
control and the remote sensor.
The remote control may not work if direct sunlight or bright
light shines on the remote sensor. Either move your TV or
change the angle at which you use the remote control.

Connecting your shelf system - general

Connecting to a TV
Notes
Before connecting the shelf system to a TV, turn off and
unplug the both units.
When a disc is playing, adjust the output of the shelf system
to make it compatible with the TV.
You can connect the player to a TV in several ways. Use
only one of them, because multiple connections can
degrade picture quality.
Do not press the power button repeatedly. Wait a minimum
of three seconds between button presses.
Do not use digital optical or coaxial and analog outputs at
the same time.
To connect the shelf system to a TV:
•
If your TV has AV inputs, connect Video (1) and Audio L/R
(2 and 3) cables from the Video and Audio L/R outputs on the
shelf system to the Video and Audio L/R inputs on your TV.

If your TV has an S-Video input, connect an S-Video cable (7)
from the S-Video output on the shelf system to the S-Video input
on your TV.
- OR -
If your TV has component inputs, connect component cables
(4, 5, and 6) from the Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr outputs on the shelf system
to the Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr inputs on your TV.
Connecting to an amplifier
To connect your shelf system to an amplifier:
1 Connect the speakers (1 and 2) to the amplifier (3).
2 If your amplifier has digital coaxial (6) or optical (7) audio
connectors, connect the digital coaxial (or optical) output of your
shelf system (8) to the digital coaxial (or optical) inputs of your
amplifier (3). Do not use both digital coaxial and optical
connections.
If you use digital coaxial or optical cables, open the DVD menu
and set the digital output to SPDIF/RAW or SPDIF/PCM on the
audio setup page, then press PLAY/ENTER to save your settings.

Connecting the power cord
To prepare your shelf system for use:
1 Make sure that your local AC power source matches the voltage
shown on the plate located inside the battery compartment. If it
does not, consult your dealer or service center.
2 Plug the power cord into an AC power outlet.
3 Press the POWER button to turn on your shelf system. Press the
POWER button again to turn off your shelf system.
To completely turn off the shelf system, unplug the power cord
from the AC power outlet.
Caution
To protect your shelf system, unplug the power cord from
the AC power outlet during heavy thunderstorms.
Using your shelf system
Playing the radio
To play the radio:
1 Press the POWER button to turn on the shelf system.
2 Press the FUNCTION button on the front panel, or the FM/AM
button on the remote control, to select the radio.
3 Press the FUNCTION button or the FM/AM button again to select
the band you want to listen to. Press MO/ST to select mono or
stereo mode.
4 To toggle between Analog radio and HD radio, press the A/D
button. While in HD radio mode, press HD CHAN to switch to
different channels. Also while in HD radio mode, press DISPLAY
to display information about the current station, including channel
name, artist, title, program type, and service data.
5 Press TU+ or TU– to tune the radio up or down by steps.
6 To save the current frequency, press the SAVE button. To save
other frequencies, press the number buttons to go to a specific
preset number, then press the T/F button to input the frequency.
For example, to save 99.3 MHz to the 18th preset, press 1, then 8
to select the preset, then press the T/F button to input 993 and
press the SAVE button to save it.
7 To tune to a preset station, press the number buttons to go to a
specific preset, or press CH+ or CH– to go to the next or previous
preset station.

8 To tune directly to a specific frequency, press T/F, then input the
frequency with the number buttons.
9 Press SEARCH to automatically search for stations in the
selected band, from the lowest frequency to the highest. The radio
saves up to 60 of the stations found. Press SEARCH again to stop
searching.
10 Press SEEK UP
or SEEK DOWN
to tune to the next higher
or lower active frequency.
11 Adjust the antenna.
•
For FM listening, pull out the antenna and adjust it for the best
signal.
•
For AM listening, rotate the player for the best signal (it has a
built-in antenna).
Note
The Stereo indicator will appear when a stereo station is
tuned in and the signal is strong enough. (For AM, stereo is
only available in HD radio mode.
12 Adjust the sound level with the VOLUME control.
13 To turn the radio off, press the POWER button.
When the shelf system is turned off, it automatically remembers
the last station.
Playing a CD
The player can play audio discs, including CDs and CD-Rs.
Note
CD-Rs must be finalized to play in this CD player.
To play a CD:
1 Press the POWER button to turn on the shelf system.
2 Press the
OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote control, or the
EJECT button on the player, to open the disc tray.
3 Place a disc, with the label side up, on the tray, then press the
OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote control, or the EJECT
button on the player to close the disc tray. The disc begins playing
automatically.
4 Press the PLAY/PAUSE
button to start pause playback. To

Selecting a different track
To select a different track on a CD:
1 Press the NEXT
button once for the next track, or press
repeatedly until the track you want appears on the display.
2 Press the PREV
button once to return to the beginning of the
current track, or press repeatedly to go to a previous track until the
track you want appears on the display.
3 If you selected a track while the CD is stopped or paused, press
PLAY/PAUSE
to begin playback.
Locating a specific passage
To locate a specific passage within a track:
1 Press the F.FWD button or the F.RWD
button.
2 When you reach the passage you want, press PLAY/ENTER.
Normal playback resumes.
Repeating portions of a CD
To use Repeat mode:

To repeat the current track, press the REPEAT button once.
To repeat the entire CD, press the REPEAT button twice.
To cancel repeat mode and return to normal playback, press
the REPEAT button three times.
Playing a DVD or VCD
To play a DVD or VCD:
1 Connect the player to your TV using Audio/Video cables or an
S-Video cable and audio cables (see “Connecting to a TV” on

press again at the end of the portion to be repeated. The
portion repeats. Press again to cancel.
SUB.
Press to turn on subtitles. Press repeatedly to cycle
through available subtitle languages.
STOP
Press to stop playback.
TITLE
Press to display the title menu of the DVD (if available).
LANG/(L/R)
Press to toggle through the languages available on the
DVD (if available).
ZOOM
Press repeatedly to zoom in on the picture (if available
on the DVD).

chapters you want in the program.
3 Move the cursor to START (which appears when you have entered
the tracks or chapters to play), then press PLAY/ENTER to begin
playing the program.
4 Press CLEAR to remove the items you have entered.

To play a DVD or VCD from a specified time:
1 With the player and TV on, and a disc in the player, press the T/F
button on the remote control. The following appears on the TV:

Playing a USB device

Using your iPod with the shelf system
To use your iPod with the shelf system:
1 Insert your iPod into the docking station.
2 Connect the Video or S-Video output of your shelf system to the
Video input or S-Video input of your TV.
3 Press POWER to turn on the player, then press the iPOD button.
4 Press PLAY/PAUSE to pause, press again to resume playing.
Using the clock functions
Setting the clock options
To set the clock display:
1 Press the CLOCK button on the remote control to select T--:--.
2 Press the CLOCK again button to change between AM and PM.
3 Enter the current time by pressing the number buttons. For
example, if the current time is 3:30PM, press the CLOCK button to
change the display to PM, then press 0,3,3,0. The player saves
the setting automatically.

To set the sleep timer:
1 Press the CLOCK button on the remote control repeatedly to
select S----.
2 Enter the sleep timer interval by pressing the number buttons. For
example, if you want the player to turn off after 45 minutes, press
0,4,5. The player will turn off automatically after 45 minutes.
To set the player to turn on automatically:
1 Press the CLOCK button on the remote control repeatedly to
select O--:--.
2 Enter the turn-on time by pressing the number buttons. For
example, if you want the player to turn on at 5:00PM, press the
CLOCK button to change the display to PM, then press 0,5,0,0.
The player saves the setting automatically.

90-Day Limited Warranty
Insignia Products (“Insignia”) warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new DVD
Shelf System (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original
manufacture of the material or workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of
your purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”). This Product must be purchased
from an authorized dealer of Insignia brand products and packaged with this warranty
statement. This warranty does not cover refurbished Product. If you notify Insignia
during the Warranty Period of a defect covered by this warranty that requires service,
terms of this warranty apply.
HOW LONG DOES THE COVERAGE LAST?
The Warranty Period lasts for 90 days from the date you purchased the Product. The
purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the Product.
WHAT DOES THIS WARRANTY COVER?
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or workmanship
of the Product is determined to be defective by an authorized Insignia repair center or
store personnel, Insignia will (at its sole option): (1) repair the Product with new or
rebuilt parts; or (2) replace the Product at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable
products or parts. Products and parts replaced under this warranty become the
property of Insignia and are not returned to you. If service of Products or parts are
required after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor and parts charges.
This warranty lasts as long as you own your Insignia Product during the Warranty
Period. Warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the Product.

La télécommande peut ne pas fonctionner correctement si

Connexion à un téléviseur
Remarques
Mettre l’appareil et le téléviseur hors tension et les
débrancher avant de les connecter.
Pendant la lecture d’un disque, régler la sortie de l’appareil
afin qu’elle soit compatible avec le téléviseur.
Il existe diverses façons de connecter l’appareil au
téléviseur. N'en utiliser qu'une, car des connexions multiples
peuvent dégrader la qualité de l’image.
Ne pas appuyer sur la touche Marche/Arrêt de façon
répétée. Attendre au moins trois secondes entre chaque
appui sur la touche.
Ne pas utiliser les sorties optiques ou coaxiales numériques
et analogiques simultanément.
Pour connecter le lecteur DVD de salon au téléviseur :
•
Si le téléviseur est doté d’entrées AV, connecter les câbles
vidéo (1) et audio G/D
(2 et 3) des sorties vidéo et audio G/D du lecteur DVD de
salon aux entrées vidéo et audio G/D du téléviseur.

câbles à composantes
(4, 5 et 6) des sorties Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr du lecteur DVD de salon
aux entrées Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr du téléviseur.
Connexion à un amplificateur
Pour connecter le lecteur DVD de salon à un amplificateur :
1 Connecter les haut-parleurs (1 et 2) à l’amplificateur (3).
2 Si l’amplificateur a des connecteurs audio coaxiaux (6) ou
optiques (7) numériques, connecter la sortie coaxiale numérique
(ou optique) du lecteur DVD de salon (8) aux entrées coaxiales
numériques (ou optiques) de l’amplificateur (3). Ne pas utiliser les
connexions coaxiales et optiques numériques simultanément.
Pour l’utilisation de câbles coaxiaux ou optiques numériques,
ouvrir le menu du DVD et régler la sortie numérique sur SPDIF/
RAW (SPDIF/Brut) ou SPDIF/PCM dans la fenêtre de
configuration audio, puis appuyer sur PLAY/ENTER (Lecture/
Entrée) pour enregistrer les paramètres.

Connecter les câbles audio G/D (4 et 5) du lecteur DVD de salon
(8) aux entrées Audio G/D de l’amplificateur (3).
Connexion du cordon d’alimentation
Avant de mettre le lecteur DVD de salon en service :
1 Vérifier que la source d’alimentation CA locale correspond à la
tension indiquée sur la plaque signalétique à l’intérieur du
compartiment de la pile. Si elle ne correspond pas, contacter le
détaillant ou un centre de réparation.
2 Brancher le cordon d'alimentation CA de l'appareil sur une prise
secteur.
3 Appuyer sur POWER (Marche/Arrêt) pour mettre l’appareil sous
tension. Appuyer de nouveau sur POWER pour le mettre hors
tension.
Pour éteindre l’appareil complètement, débrancher le cordon
d’alimentation de la prise secteur CA.
Attention
Afin de protéger l’appareil pendant les gros orages,
débrancher le cordon d’alimentation de la prise secteur CA.
Utilisation de l'appareil
Fonctionnement de la radio
Pour utiliser la radio :
1 Appuyer sur POWER (Marche/Arrêt) pour mettre l’appareil sous
tension.
2 Appuyer sur FUNCTION (Fonctions) du panneau avant ou sur FM/
AM de la télécommande pour sélectionner la radio.
3 Appuyer de nouveau sur FUNCTION ou FM/AM pour sélectionner
la bande radio souhaitée. Appuyer sur MO/ST pour sélectionner le
mode Mono ou Stéréo.
4 Pour alterner entre la diffusion analogique ou HD radio, appuyer
sur A/D (Analogique/Numérique). En mode HD radio, appuyer sur
HD CHAN (Canal) pour parcourir les différents canaux. Toujours
en mode HD radio, appuyer sur DISPLAY (Affichage) pour afficher
les informations sur la station en cours de diffusion, y compris le
nom du canal, l’artiste, le titre, le type de programme et les
données du service.

5 Appuyer sur TU+ ou TU– pour syntoniser la radio vers le haut ou
le bas par incréments.
6 Pour mémoriser la fréquence diffusée, appuyer sur SAVE
(Enregistrer). Pour mémoriser d'autres fréquences, utiliser les
touches numériques pour aller à un numéro spécifique préréglé,
puis appuyer sur la touche T/F pour saisir la fréquence. Par
exemple, pour affecter le numéro préréglé 18 à la fréquence 99,3
MHz, appuyer sur le 1, puis sur le 8 pour sélectionner le numéro
préréglé, puis sur la touche T/F pour saisir 993 et appuyer sur
SAVE pour la mémoriser.
7 Pour syntoniser une station mémorisée, appuyer sur les touches
numériques pour aller directement sur la station préréglée
spécifique ou appuyer sur CH+ ou CH– pour aller à la station
préréglée suivante ou précédente.
8 Pour syntoniser une fréquence radio spécifique, appuyer sur T/F
(Heure/Fréquence) et saisir la fréquence à l’aide des touches
numériques.
9 Appuyer sur SEARCH (Rechercher) pour rechercher
automatiquement les stations dans la bande de fréquence
sélectionnée de façon croissante. La radio mémorise les 60
stations ayant le signal. Appuyer de nouveau sur SEARCH pour
arrêter la recherche.
10 Appuyer sur SEEK UP (Recherche vers le haut)
ou SEEK
DOWN (Recherche vers le bas)
pour syntoniser la fréquence
supérieure ou inférieure diffusée suivante ou précédente.
11 Régler l’antenne.
•
Pour l’écoute FM, déployer l’antenne puis la réorienter pour
obtenir la meilleure réception.
•
Pour l’écoute AM, réorienter l’appareil pour obtenir la meilleure
réception (il est équipé d’une antenne intégrée).
Remarque
L'indicateur Stereo s'affichera quand une station stéréo à
signal fort sera syntonisée (pour AM, la réception stéréo
n'est disponible qu'en mode HD radio).
12 Régler le niveau sonore avec la commande du VOLUME.
13 Appuyer sur POWER (Marche/Arrêt) pour éteindre la radio.
Quand l'appareil est éteint, il mémorise automatiquement la
dernière station syntonisée.

Lecture d’un CD
Cet appareil peut lire des disques audio tels que les CD et CD-R.
Remarque
Les CD-R doivent être finalisés avant de pouvoir être lus sur
cet appareil.
Pour lire un CD :
1 Appuyer sur POWER (Marche/Arrêt) pour mettre l’appareil sous
tension.
2 Appuyer sur
OPEN/CLOSE (Ouvrir/Fermer) de la
télécommande, ou sur EJECT (Éjecter) du lecteur pour ouvrir le
plateau à disque.
3 Mettre un disque, avec l’étiquette tournée vers le haut, puis
appuyer sur
OPEN/CLOSE de la télécommande ou sur EJECT du lecteur
pour refermer le plateau à disque. La lecture du disque
commence automatiquement.
4 Appuyer sur PLAY/PAUSE (Lecture/Pause)

Pour programmer la lecture d’un DVD ou VCD :
1 Mettre le lecteur et le téléviseur sous tension, insérer un disque

Pour un disque DVD – Titre xx/xx Heure. Pour régler l’heure de
démarrage à 1 heure, 30 minutes et 20 secondes, appuyer sur
1,3,0,2,0.

Il existe plusieurs façons de personnaliser les paramètres de ce
système de menus. La plupart des menus consistent en trois niveaux
de configuration des options mais certains requièrent davantage de

Fonctionnement de l’horloge
Réglage de l’horloge
Pour régler l’affichage de l’horloge :
1 Appuyer sur CLOCK (Horloge) de la télécommande pour
sélectionner T--:--.
2 Appuyer de nouveau sur CLOCK pour alterner entre AM (Heure
du matin) et PM (Heure de l’après-midi).
3 Saisir l’heure actuelle à l’aide des touches numériques. Par
exemple, s’il est 3:30 PM (15 h 30), appuyer sur CLOCK pour
changer l’affichage à PM, puis sur 0,3,3,0. Le lecteur mémorise
les réglages automatiquement.
Pour régler l'arrêt différé :
1 Appuyer plusieurs fois sur CLOCK (Horloge) de la télécommande
pour sélectionner S----.
2 Saisir la durée de l'arrêt différé à l’aide des touches numériques.
Par exemple, pour mettre l’appareil hors tension après 45 minutes,
appuyer sur 0,4,5. L’appareil se met automatiquement hors
tension au bout de 45 minutes.
Pour la mise sous tension automatique de l’appareil :
1 Appuyer plusieurs fois sur CLOCK (Horloge) de la télécommande
pour sélectionner O----.
2 Saisir l’heure de mise en marche à l’aide des touches
numériques. Par exemple, pour mettre l’appareil sous tension à
5:00 PM (17 h), appuyer sur CLOCK pour changer l’affichage à
PM, puis sur 0,5,0,0. Le lecteur mémorise les réglages
automatiquement.

Garantie limitée de 90 jours
Insignia Products (« Insignia ») garantit au premier acheteur de ce lecteur DVD de
salon NS-HD2114 neuf (« Produit »), qu’il est exempt de vices de fabrication et de
main-d’œuvre à l’origine, pour une période de 90 jours à partir de la date d’achat du
Produit (« Période de garantie »). Ce Produit doit avoir été acheté chez un revendeur
agréé des produits de la marque Insignia et emballé avec cette déclaration de garantie.
Cette garantie ne couvre pas les Produits remis à neuf. Les conditions de la présente
garantie s’appliquent à tout Produit pour lequel Insignia est notifié pendant la Période

Agua y humedad – No use su sistema de audio cerca del

Ventilación – Para asegurar la operación confiable de su
sistema de audio y para protegerlo contra el

Conectándose a un televisor:

Antes de conectar el sistema de audio un televisor, apagué
y desenchufe las dos unidades.
Cuando se reproduce un disco, ajuste la salida del sistema
de audio para que sea compatible con el televisor.
Puede conectar el reproductor a un televisor de varias
formas. Utilice únicamente una de ellas, ya que múltiples
conexiones pueden degradar la calidad de la imagen.
No presione repetidamente el botón de encendido. Espere
por lo menos tres segundos entre presionar cada botón.
No utilice las salidas digitales de audio óptico y coaxial al
mismo tiempo.
Para conectar el sistema de audio a un televisor:

Mantenimiento de su sistema de audio

Garantía limitada de 90 días
Insignia Products (“Insignia”) le garantiza a usted, el comprador original de este nuevo
Sistema de audio con DVD NS-HD2114 (“Producto”), que éste se encontrará libre de
defectos de material o de mano de obra en su fabricación original por un período de 90
(noventa) días a partir de la fecha de compra del Producto (“Período de Garantía”).
Este Producto debe ser comprado en un distribuidor autorizado de productos Insignia
y empacado con esta declaración de garantía. Esta garantía no cubre Productos
reacondicionados. Si notifica a Insignia durante el Período de Garantía sobre un
defecto cubierto por esta garantía que requiere reparación, los términos de esta
garantía se aplican.
¿CUÁNTO DURA LA GARANTÍA?
El Período de Garantía dura por 90 (noventa) días a partir de la fecha en que compró
el Producto. La fecha de compra se encuentra impresa en el recibo que recibió con el
Producto.
¿QUÉ ES LO QUE CUBRE ESTA GARANTÍA?
Durante el Período de Garantía, si un centro de reparación autorizado de Insignia
