CD Boombox with FM Radio  
Your boombox utilizes a Class 1 laser to read  
Compact Discs. Your boombox is equipped  
with safety switches to avoid exposure when  
the CD door is open and the safety interlocks  
are defeated. Invisible laser radiation is present  
when the CD door is open and the system's  
interlock has failed or been defeated. You  
should avoid direct exposure to the laser beam  
at all times. Do not attempt to defeat or bypass  
the safety switches. Do not stare into the  
beam.

Setting up your boombox  
Powering your boombox  
Your boombox can be powered by either the included AC Adapter, or by  
using six “C” sized alkaline batteries (not included). Your boombox only  
operates on batteries if the AC adapter is unplugged.  
Installing the batteries  
To install the batteries:

Open the battery compartment on the bottom of your boombox.

Place six “C” size alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery  
compartment. Make sure to match the + and - on each battery to the +  
and - signs in the battery compartment.

Close the battery compartment until it clicks into place.  
Note  
The AC power adapter must be disconnected from the DC IN jack  
on the back of your boombox in order for your boombox to  
operate on battery power.

Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device:  
• Use only the size and type of batteries specified.  
• Make sure that you follow the correct polarity as indicated  
in the battery compartment when installing batteries.  
Reversed batteries may cause damage to your boombox.

example, alkaline, rechargeable, and carbon zinc), or  
semi-used batteries with fresh ones.  
• If your boombox is not to be used for a long period of time,  
remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from  
possible battery leakage.  
• Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be  
recharged, because they can overheat and rupture.  
(Follow battery manufacturers directions.).  
• Do not throw batteries into a fire. Dispose of used batteries  
as hazardous waste.  
Connecting the AC adapter  
To use the AC power adapter:

Make sure that your local AC power source matches the voltage shown  
on the plate located on the AC power adapter. If it does not, do not use  
that power source.

Insert the small connector at the end of the AC power adapter cable  
into the DC IN jack on the back of your boombox.  
Plug the AC power adapter into a wall power outlet.  
Caution  
To protect your boombox during thunderstorms, unplug the AC  
power adapter from the AC power outlet.  
Note  
Only use the supplied AC power adapter, which has the  
following specifications: DC 9V 2.2A  
Unplug both the DC plug and the adapter when not in use.  
The batteries are automatically bypassed when the AC power  
adapter is used.

Using your boombox  
Turning on your boombox  
To turn on your boombox:  
Press (power) on the top of your boombox.  
Selecting the mode (source)  
To select the mode (sound source):  
Press SOURCE repeatedly on the top of your boombox to select FM, CD,  
iPod DOC, iPod USB, CD, or AUX. The source you select appears on the  
display.  
Volume control  
After you select the mode you want, press VOL+ or VOL– to set the  
volume to a comfortable level.  
Using Radio mode  
Radio mode is the default mode on your boombox the first time you turn  
it on. Thereafter, your boombox will turn on to the last mode selected  
when you turned it off.  
Tuning to a station  
To play the radio:

Press (power) to turn on the boombox.  
Press SOURCE repeatedly to select FM mode.

you want. When a strong FM signal is received, Stereo appears on the  
display.

Adjust the volume to a comfortable level by pressing either the VOL+  
or VOL- button.  
To scan to a higher or lower frequency, press and hold

Press (power) to turn off the boombox.  
To improve FM reception:  
For FM reception, raise and extended the FM antenna. You may have  
to reposition the antenna for best reception.

Press SOURCE repeatedly to select FM radio mode.  
Press or to tune the radio up or down and select the station  
you want.

To save the station as a preset, press and hold MEMORY. "P01" blinks  
on the display.  
Press PRESET repeatedly to select the preset number (P01-P10) you  
want.

Press MEMORY to store the preset.  
Repeat Steps 3 to 6 to store as many as ten FM presets.  
To select a preset station, briefly press PRESET repeatedly until you  
reach the station you want.  
Using the CD player  
You can play audio CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs.  
Caution  
Do not attempt to play DVDs, VCDs, or data CDs in your boombox.  
You may damage your unit.  
To use the CD player:

Press (power) to turn on your boombox.  
Press SOURCE repeatedly to select CD mode.  
Press the OPEN area on the CD door to open the lid.  
Insert a CD, label side up.  
Press the OPEN area on the CD door to close it. The total number of  
tracks appears on the display.

Press (play/pause) to begin playback. The current track appears on  
the display. The CD stops when finished.  
Note  
If the door is opened during playback, playback stops  
immediately and any repeat mode setting is reset.

Control CD playback as follows:

playback.

Press PLAY MODE once to repeat the current track. “Repeat” appears  
on the display.  
Press PLAY MODE twice to repeat the entire CD. “Repeat All” appears

Press PLAY MODE three times to randomly play the tracks on the CD.  
“Random” appears on the display.  
To return to normal playback, press PLAY MODE until the play mode  
indicators disappear from the display.  
Note  
• If a CD is inserted incorrectly, is dirty or damaged, is not  
present, or is a non-compatible format, “NO DISC”  
appears on the display.  
• To prevent damage to the CD, never open the CD door  
while the CD is rotating and never touch the lens.  
• Do not use the carrying handle when playing a CD. The  
CD player should only be used on a steady surface.  
• Your CD boombox plays standard CDs and 3" CDs.  
Selecting the sound equalization  
To select the sound equalization:  
Press SOUND to select the sound equalization you want. Choose one  
of the following preset options: JAZZ, POP, CLASSIC, ROCK, or FLAT  
(no equalization).  
Using an iPod/iPhone  
You can connect an iPod or iPhone (not included) to your boombox to  
listen to the songs stored on the device.  
To connect a newer iPod or iPhone to your boombox:

Insert an iPod Nano 7th, iPod Touch 5th, or iPhone 5, into the lightning  
connector on the front of the boombox.

Press SOURCE until “iPod DOC” appears on the display, then press the  
play button on either the iPod or your boombox to begin playback. If  
your iPod/iPhone is playing when you dock it with your boombox, it  
will automatically play without pressing the play button.

To connect an older iPod or iPhone to your boombox:

For older iPod or iPhone, such as an iPhone 4, 4S, Touch 4th, Nano 6, or  
earlier, use an iPod or iPhone USB cable to connect to the iPod/iPhone  
USB jack on the back of your boombox.

Press SOURCE until “iPod USB” appears on the display, then press  
(play/pause) to start playback.  
Adjust the volume to a comfortable level by pressing either the VOL+  
or VOL- button.

To charge the iPod/iPhone battery:  
Insert the iPod by lightning connector or iPod / iPhone USB Jack. The  
battery charging indicator appears on the iPod display.  
Note  
• When your iPod/iPhone is docked using the Lightning  
connector or USB, it will be charged only when your  
boombox is connected to AC power.  
• When there is more than one iPod/iPhone connected to  
the boombox via Lightning connector and USB, both  
devices will be charged using AC power.  
Playing music from an external sound source  
To play music from an external sound source:

Make sure that your boombox is turned off.

Connect an external sound source, such as an MP3 player, by plugging  
one end of an audio cable with a 3.5 mm plug (not included) into the  
AUX In jack on the back of your boombox and the other end into your  
playback device.  
iPod/iPhone

Press SOURCE repeatedly on the top of your boombox to select AUX  
In. “AUX” lights up on the display.

Start playback on the external device.  
Press VOL+ or VOL– to adjust the volume. You can also use the  
volume controls on the device to adjust the volume, but the volume  
knob on the boombox provides the best control.

Troubleshooting

My boombox won’t turn  
on.  
Make sure that the power cord is fully inserted in the power outlet and  
firmly connected to the DC IN jack on the back.  
If running on batteries, make sure the batteries are not dead.  
No sound.  
Make sure that power is connected and your boombox is turned on.  
Make sure that your external device is turned on and is playing.  
Make sure that the volume on your external device is turned up and is  
not set to mute.  
Make sure that the volume is not extremely low.  
My boombox will not  
play in FM mode.  
Repeatedly press the SOURCE button to select FM mode.  
Make sure that the radio is correctly tuned to an FM station.  
Make sure that the FM antenna is extended.  
My boombox will not  
play in CD mode.  
Repeatedly press the SOURCE button to select CD mode.  
Make sure that the CD is correctly inserted with the label facing up.  
Make sure that the CD is not a DVD.  
Make sure that the CD is a compatible format (CD R/RW).  
Make sure that the CD is clean.  
The CD skips while  
playing.  
Make sure that the CD is not dirty or scratched. Clean the CD.  
Make sure that you are using a standard CD (normal size and shape)or  
3” CD.  
Make sure your CD is a compatible format.  
My iPod/iPhone won’t  
play.  
Make sure that your iPod/iPhone is on and charged.  
Repeatedly press the SOURCE button to select iPod DOC or iPod USB  
mode, whichever is correct.  
Make sure that your iPod/iPhone is not paused.  
Make sure that your iPod/iPhone is properly docked.  
Make sure that there are songs in your iPod/iPhone.  
Make sure that the hold function is not activated on your iPod/iPhone.  
Make sure that your iPod/iPhone is working properly before you dock  
it into your boombox.  
Remove your iPod/iPhone from the docking compartment. Clean the  
connectors in the docking compartment and on your iPod/iPhone,  
then replace it in the docking compartment.  
Your iPod/iPhone software may be outdated. Upgrade its software. For

My iPod won’t charge  
when it’s docked.  
Make sure that your iPod is properly docked or connected to the USB  
jack and your boombox is set to iPod DOC or iPod USB mode,  
whichever is correct.  
Make sure that your iPod battery is not faulty.  
Make sure that the power cord is plugged in. An iPod will not charge  
from battery power.  
What happens when I  
receive a phone call on  
my iPhone when it’s  
docked?  
You must pick up the call on your iPhone, then your boombox is muted  
until the call is completed, at which time it resumes playing music.  
After the call, your boombox stays in iPod mode and resumes playing  
music.  
Maintaining  
Handling discs  
To keep a disc clean, do not touch the play side (non-label side) of the disc.  
Do not attach paper or tape to the disc.  
Storing discs  
After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct  
sunlight or sources of heat, and never leave discs in a parked car exposed  
to direct sunlight.

Cleaning discs  
Before playback, wipe the disc outwards from the center (not in a circle)  
with a clean cloth.  
If you cannot clean the disc with a dry cloth, wipe the disc with a slightly  
moistened, soft cloth, then dry it with a soft cloth.  
Do not use any solvents, such as paint thinner, benzine, commercially  
available cleaners, or anti-static spray designed for vinyl records.  
Cleaning your boombox  
To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect your boombox from the AC  
power source when cleaning.  
The finish on your boombox may be cleaned with a dust cloth and cared  
for as other furniture. Use caution when cleaning and wiping the plastic  
parts.  
Mild soap and a damp cloth may be used on the front panel.

The Distributor* of Insignia branded products warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new  
Insignia-branded product (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original  
manufacturer of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your purchase  
of the Product (“Warranty Period”).  
For this warranty to apply, your Product must be purchased in the United States or Canada from a Best  
Buy branded or Future Shop branded retail store or online at www.bestbuy.com, www.bestbuy.ca, or  
www.futureshop.ca and is packaged with this warranty statement.  
How long does the coverage last?  
The Warranty Period lasts for 1 year (365 days) from the date you purchased the Product. Your purchase  
date is printed on the receipt you received with the Product.  
What does this warranty cover?  
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or workmanship of the Product is  
determined to be defective by an authorized Insignia repair center or store personnel, Insignia will (at its
