SECTION 1: SAFETY
For Your Own Safety Read Instruction
Manual Before Operating This Equipment
The purpose of safety symbols is to attract your attention to possible hazardous conditions. This
manual uses a series of symbols and signal words which are intended to convey the level of
importance of the safety messages. The progression of symbols is described below. Remember
that safety messages by themselves do not eliminate danger and are not a substitute for proper
accident prevention measures.
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
WILL result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
COULD result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
MAY result in minor or moderate injury.
This symbol is used to alert the user to useful information about
proper operation of the equipment or property damage hazards.

5. KEEP CHILDREN AND VISITORS
AWAY. All children and visitors should be
kept at a safe distance from work area.
1. READ AND UNDERSTAND MACHINE
OWNERS MANUAL FOR THE BAND
SAW.
6. MAKE WORKSHOP CHILD PROOF with
padlocks, master switches, or by removing
starter keys.
2. REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND
WRENCHES. Form a habit of checking to
see that keys and adjusting wrenches are
removed from tool before turning on.
7. DO NOT FORCE TOOL. It will do the job
better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
3. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered
areas and benches invite accidents.
8. USE RIGHT TOOL. DO NOT force tool or
attachment to do a job for which it was not
designed.
4. DO NOT USE IN DANGEROUS ENVI-
RONMENT. DO NOT use power tools in
damp or wet locations, or where any flam-
mable or noxious fumes may exist. Keep

9. USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make
sure your extension cord is in good condi-
tion. Conductor size should be in accor-
dance with the chart below. The amperage
rating should be listed on the motor or tool
nameplate. An undersized cord will cause
a drop in line voltage, resulting in power
loss and overheating. Your extension cord
must also contain a ground wire and plug
pin. Always repair or replace extension
cords if they become damaged.
16. REDUCE THE RISK OF UNINTENTIONAL
STARTING. On machines with magnetic
contact starting switches there is a risk of
starting if the machine is bumped or jarred.
Always disconnect from power source
before adjusting or servicing. Make sure
switch is in OFF position before reconnecting.
17. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS. Before further
use of the tool, a guard or other part that is
damaged should be carefully checked to
determine that it will operate properly and
perform its intended function. Check for
alignment of moving parts, binding of mov-
ing parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and
any other conditions that may affect its
operation. A guard or other part that is dam-
aged should be properly repaired or
replaced.

capable of handling the amperage draw from
your machine, as well as any other machines that
110V Single Phase
could be operating on the same circuit. If you are
unsure, consult a qualified electrician.
Serious personal injury could occur if you
If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows regu-
larly, your machine may be operating on a circuit
that is close to its amperage draw capacity.
However, if an unusual amperage draw does not
exist and a power failure still occurs, refer to the
troubleshooting section in this manual or contact
a qualified electrician or our service department.

electrical outlet and circuit
you intend to plug into is
actually grounded.
Circuit Breaker ........................................15 Amp
Be sure that your particular electrical config-
uration complies with local and state codes.
The best way to ensure compliance is to
check with your local municipality or a
licensed electrician.
In the event of a malfunction or breakdown,
grounding provides electric current a path of least
resistance to reduce the risk of electric shock.
This tool is equipped with an electric cord with an
equipment grounding conductor. Improper con-
nections of the electrical-grounding conductor
can result in the risk of electric shock. The con-
ductor with green or green and yellow striped
insulation is the electrical grounding conductor. If
repair or replacement of the electric cord or plug
is necessary, do not connect the equipment
grounding conductor to a live terminal.

Clean Up
Site Considerations
The unpainted surfaces are coated with a waxy
oil to protect them from corrosion during ship-
ment. Remove this protective coating with a sol-
vent cleaner or citrus-based degreaser such as
Grizzly’s G7895 Degreaser. To clean thoroughly,
some parts may need to be removed. For opti-
mum performance from your machine, make
sure you clean all moving parts or sliding
contact surfaces that are coated. Avoid chlo-
rine-based solvents as they may damage painted
surfaces should they come in contact. Always fol-
low the manufacturer’s instructions when using
any type of cleaning product.
1. Workbench Load: The Model G8692
weighs 38 lbs and has a footprint of 10" x 18-
1
2". Most workbenches are suitable for your
machine. If you are unsure that your work-
bench could support the weight of the
machine, additional build up to support the
machine may be required.
2. Working Clearances: Consider existing and
anticipated needs, size of material to be
processed through each machine, and
space for auxiliary stands, work tables or
other machinery when establishing a loca-
tion for your bandsaw.
3. Lighting and Outlets: Lighting should be
bright enough to eliminate shadow and pre-
vent eye strain. Electrical circuits should be
dedicated or large enough to handle amper-
age requirements. Outlets should be located
near each machine so power or extension
cords are clear of high-traffic areas. Observe
local electrical codes for proper installation
of new lighting, outlets, or circuits.
Gasoline and petroleum
products have low flash
points and could cause
an explosion or fire if
used
to
clean
machinery. DO NOT use
gasoline or petroleum
products to clean the
machinery.
Unsupervised children and
visitors inside your shop
could cause serious person-
al injury to themselves. Lock
all entrances to the shop
when you are away and DO
NOT allow unsupervised
children or visitors in your
shop at any time!
Smoking near solvents
could ignite an explosion
or fire and cause serious
injury. DO NOT smoke
while using solvents.
Many of the solvents
commonly used to clean
machinery can be toxic
when inhaled or ingest-
ed. Lack of ventilation
while using these sol-
vents could cause seri-
ous personal health risks
or fire. Take precautions
from this hazard by only
using cleaning solvents
in a well ventilated area.

cut. The Model G8692 has speeds of 190 feet per
minute and 285 feet per minute.
You must consider the material being cut and its
diameter when choosing the correct blade. The
Model G8692 comes with an 18 tpi blade which is
installed.
Never change blade speeds while the
motor is running. Damage to the machine
or operator could result. Let the blade stop
completely before changing speeds.

Blade Travel
Starting Bandsaw
The blade travel and wheel rotation on the Model
G8692 are indicated by a direction arrow on the
top cover, shown in Figure 8.
Never operate the bandsaw without the
proper blade guards and guides in place.
Unprotected or unguided blades can
cause injury to the operator and damage
the machine or workpiece.
To start a cutting operation on the bandsaw:
1. Make sure all guards and blade guides are in
place and secure.
2. Make sure the blade is not in contact with the
material.
3. Clamp the material securely in the vise if you
are using the stand.
Figure 8. Blade direction.
4. Connect the bandsaw to the power source.
5. Press in the orange thumb button and pull
the trigger to start the bandsaw.
Always operate the bandsaw with the
blade traveling in same direction as arrow.
Damage to the machine, workpiece and
blade will result if the blade is travelling in
the opposite direction.
6. Begin the cut by slowly letting the head down
onto the workpiece. DO NOT DROP OR
FORCE BLADE THROUGH THE MATERI-
AL.
7. When the cut has been completed, release
the trigger and let the saw come to a com-
plete stop before removing the workpiece
from the vise.
NEVER place fingers or hands in the line of
cut. In the event that something unexpected
happens, your hands or fingers may be
pulled into the blade. Failure to follow these
warnings may result in serious personal
injury!

SECTION 7: MAINTENANCE
Miscellaneous
Always
disconnect
power to the machine
when making adjust-
ments. Failure to do this
may result in serious
personal injury.
Always be aware of the condition of your
machine. Routinely check for the following condi-
tions and repair or replace as necessary:
Loose mounting bolts
Worn switch
Worn or damaged blade
Dirt or oil build up
Worn or damaged support bearings or
guide bearings
Blade Breakage
Blade breakage is unavoidable, in some cases,
as a natural result of the peculiar stresses placed
on bandsaw blades. Avoidable breakage is most
often the result of poor care or judgement on the
part of the operator when mounting or adjusting
the blade or support guides.
Cleaning
The most common causes of blade breakage
are:
Cleaning your machine will extend its life and
produce better results.
Faulty alignment or adjustment of the guides
Using a blade with a lumpy or improperly fin-
ished braze or weld
Important places of the Model G8692 to keep
clean are the motor area, the blade, and the
stand. Make sure these areas are free from oil
and debris.
Feeding the workpiece too fast
Tooth dullness or absence of sufficient set
Excessive or too little blade tension
Running the bandsaw excessively when not
resawing
Not releasing blade tension after use
Storage
When storing the bandsaw for long periods of
time, it is important to perform the following:
Release tension on the blade.
Store bandsaw in a safe dry place.
