intended to convey the level of importance of the safety messages. The progres-
sion of symbols is described below. Remember that safety messages by them-
selves do not eliminate danger and are not a substitute for proper accident pre-
vention measures.

Safety Instructions For Power Tools
14. MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE.
Keep tools sharp and clean for
best and safest performance.
Follow instructions for lubricating
and changing accessories.
9. USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD
for the tool. Make sure your exten-
sion cord is in good condition.
Conductor size should be in accor-
dance with the chart below. The
amperage rating should be listed on
the motor or tool nameplate. An
undersized cord will cause a drop in
line voltage resulting in loss of power
and overheating. Your extension
cord must also contain a ground wire
and plug pin. Always repair or
replace extension cords if they
become damaged.
15. DISCONNECT TOOLS before ser-
vicing and changing accessories,
such as blades, bits, cutters, and
the like.
16. REDUCE THE RISK OF UNIN-
TENTIONAL STARTING. Make
sure switch is in off position before
plugging in.
17. USE RECOMMENDED ACCES-
SORIES. Consult the owner’s
manual for recommended acces-
sories. The use of improper acces-
sories may cause risk of injury.

Before further use of the tool, a
guard or other part that is dam-
aged should be carefully checked
to determine that it will operate
properly and perform its intended
function. Check for alignment of
moving parts, binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts, mount-
ing, and any other conditions that
may affect its operation. A guard or

ties, rings, bracelets, or other jewel-
ry which may get caught in moving
parts. Non-slip footwear is recom-
mended. Wear protective hair cover-
ing to contain long hair.
11. ALWAYS USE SAFETY GLASSES.
Also use face or dust mask if cutting
operation is dusty. Everyday eye-
glasses only have impact resistant
lenses, they are NOT safety glass-
es.
No list of safety guidelines can be
complete. Every shop environment
is different. Always consider safety
first, as it applies to your individual
working conditions. Use this and
other machinery with caution and
respect. Failure to do so could result
in serious personal injury, damage
to equipment or poor work results.
12. SECURE WORK. Use clamps or a
vise to hold work when practical. It’s
safer than using your hand and frees
both hands to operate tool.
13. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times.

The Model G9907 Triangular Sander is the
perfect sander for detailed sanding tasks
and hard to reach corners. The pad rotates
at 8,000 orbits per minute with a .040"
eccentric motion for
a
finish without
scratches. Sanding pads have a 614
square inch surface area, with flow
through holes to direct dust to the 114" dust
port. Pads are easily changed with the
hook-and-loop attachment system.
To operate this, or any power tool,
safely and efficiently, it is essential to
become as familiar with its character-
istics as possible. The time you invest
before you begin to use your Model
G9907 will be time well spent. DO NOT

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Attaching Abrasives
Getting Started
Abrasive sheets are easily attached with
the hook-and-loop system on the pad of
your G9907 sander. Fit the sheet over the
pad so that it covers the entire area, push
and slightly twist to make sure the coated
abrasive sheet is snug on the pad. Make
sure you don’t cover the suction holes.
After making sure the power source
matches the specifications on the sander
label, plug in sander. Push the black
switch (on top of the tool’s handle) forward
to turn it on, and pull the switch back to
turn the sander off. When you first turn it
on, make sure that your finger remains on
the switch so you can STOP the sander in
case there’s a problem. The sander
should run smoothly. Strange or unnatural
noises should be investigated and correct-
ed before operating the machine further.
Remove abrasive sheets by pinching an
edge or corner and peeling off.
Using the Sander
Starting with the coarsest grit you have
determined to be sufficient for the job,
sand the work evenly, in the same direc-
tion as the grain of the wood. Always keep
the machine moving so the finish of your
work stays consistent. If you stay in one
place too long, then the sander may pro-
duce a depression in the wood that will
compromise your finish.
If you cannot easily locate the source of
an unusual noise or vibration, contact our
service department for help.
Selecting Abrasives
The best results from your G9907
Triangular Sander will be accomplished
using the proper grit of coated abrasive.
As a rule, you will want to start with a more
coarse paper for removing large defects or
rough spots, then work through finer grits
one or two grades at a time until you
achieve the smoothness and quality you
desire.
Sanding across the grain of the wood may
be necessary in some cases to remove
rough defects. This should be done with
caution however, because it can produce
cross-grain scratching that will require fur-
ther sanding to remove.
Any time you are unsure about which grit
to begin with, experiment in a small corner
or area that isn’t very noticeable on your
project. Ideally, you want to achieve the
balance of removing defects without dam-
aging your work.
Change abrasive sheets as soon as the
grit becomes dull. You will recognize this
when the sander seems to slide across the
work without any “bite.”
Never apply excessive force while sand-
ing. Your sander will last longer if you let
“it” do the work. Using a slight pressure
barely greater than the weight of the
machine is ideal because you can still
maintain control while obtaining a fine fin-
ish.
ALUMINUM OXIDE and SILICON CAR-
BIDE abrasives are an excellent choice
because they last longer and are sharper
than natural abrasives.

MAINTENANCE
General
Repair and Service
Regular periodic maintenance on your
Model G9907 Triangular Sander will
ensure its optimum performance. Make a
habit of inspecting your sander each time
you use it. Check for the following condi-
tions and repair or replace when neces-
sary:
All quality tools will eventually wear from
normal use. Since sander is encased in a
double insulated plastic cover, leave repair
and service issues to a qualified service
technician. This includes brush replace-
ment, lubrication or any other internal
operation.
1. Loose fasteners.
2. Worn switch.
3. Worn or damaged cords and
plugs.
4. Worn or damaged sanding pad.
5. Any other condition that could
hamper the safe operation of this
machine.
Disassembly and improper reassem-
bly of this device can result in elec-
trical shock danger. Always have this
device serviced by a qualified electri-
cal repair technician. Serious injury
will result.
Keeping Tool Clean
Your G9907 Triangular Sander will give
you years of trouble free service if you
keep it clean and free of built-up dust or
grime. Ensure that no air passages get
blocked. If they do, blow them out with
compressed air. WARNING: Wear safety
glasses when cleaning tool with com-
pressed air.
Plastic parts can easily be cleaned with a
damp cloth, but never use water to clean
any electrical parts. Solvents should also
be avoided on plastic because of the pos-
siblity of damage.
If possible use a scraper to remove glue or
sap from your work; these elements may
hinder the effectiveness of the abrasive
sheets and cause unnecessary build-up of
grime on the sander.
