The spool and line will rotate whenever the   motor is operating.   1. Release the throttle trigger (8)   and allow the engine to idle for   a few moments.   IMPORTANT. Petrol line trimmers transmit vibrations to the   operator during use. These vibrations can generate increased   fatigue. For this reason, we recommend taking regular breaks   during work. We also recommend taking a break after a few   hours of work to rest the engine. If abnormal noise or vibration   occurs during operation, turn the line trimmer off immediately   and have the problem corrected.   2. Move the ignition switch (6) to   the off position marked STOP.   1. Keep a firm grip on the trimmer with both hands while in   operation. The trimmer should be held at a comfortable   position with the rear handle about hip height.   3. The engine will now stop.   2. Always operate the trimmer at full throttle. Cut tall grass   from the top down to prevent grass from wrapping around   the spool which may cause the trimmer to overheat.   Running in the engine   1. During the first 2–3 hours of work, run the engine at a   moderate RPM.   2. We advise you in any case not to maintain your engine at   a high speed as the different components must settle with   each other during the process of running in the engine.   Note. If grass becomes wrapped around the spool, stop   the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove   the grass.   Note. Prolonged cutting not at full throttle may result in oil   dripping from the muffler.   10   Download from Www.Somanuals.com. The engine of the petrol line trimmer must be   at a complete stop during assembling, repair and cleaning   operations that could be necessary.   The line trimmer has a bump feed mechanism which   releases the line without having to stop the engine.   1. To release additional line, lightly tap the cutting line and   spool assembly (1) on the ground while operating the unit   at high speed.   Note. Always keep the line fully extended. Line release   becomes more difficult as the cutting line becomes shorter.   2. Each time the head is bumped it releases approximately   2cm of line. Release the line until it strikes the cut off   knife (2). This may require several taps.   Note. The cut off knife (2) on the safety guard (3) will   automatically cut off any excess line. For best results tap   the head on hard soil or bare ground. Never bump the spool   head on concrete as it may crack the spool housing.   IMPORTANT. Do not hit stones (even small ones), piles of   earth, and small pieces of wood or anything else that could   be hidden or poorly visible in the grass. If you hit a large   object by accident, or if you block the cutting tool due to   overloading or having the cutter jammed with grass, you   must stop the engine.   WARNING. Beware of bystanders at all times   • Cut the grass like you are in a corridor about 1.5m wide.   Move step by step, moving the machine from left to right   and vice-versa. Make sure at each step that you are still   well balanced on your feet   • Keep the line trimmer tilted towards the area being cut   • Let the tip of the line do the cutting. Never force the spool   into uncut grass.   • Running the line into fences, stone and brick walls, curbs,   and wood causes extra line wear, even breakage.   Replacement of the cutting line   1. Stop the engine.   2. Put the petrol line trimmer on the floor in a way that the   cutting line and spool assembly (1) is facing up.   3. Open the cutting line and spool assembly (1) by holding   the spool housing firmly while rotating the bump knob   anti-clockwise.   4. Remove the bump knob completely and remove the   spool from the spool shaft. Discard any short lengths of   remaining cutting line.   5. Take a 4 metre length of Ø2mm line and halve it.   Note. All protective devices of the machine as well as   protective equipment must be maintained in good operation   condition during the period of use.   6. Place the half way mark of the   line into the notch in the spool.   7. Wrap the line around the   inside of the spool in an anti   clockwise direction (following   the directional arrows on the   spool). Ensure the line is   Note. If the line is too short you may not be able to advance   the line by tapping it on the ground. If this is the case, stop   the engine and manually advance the line.   Advancing the line manually   1. Push the bump knob in while pulling on both lines to   manually advance the line.   wrapped tightly and neatly.   2. Release the bump knob and again pull on both lines to   advance the line further.   3. If the line still does not advance remove the spool and check   the lay of the line. It may be twisted or trapped under over   saying line.   11   Download from Www.Somanuals.com. All Manuals Search And Download.   8. When there is approximately 150mm of line left, lock one   of the lines into one of the line location notches in the   spool head and the other into the opposing notch.   Maintenance   Air filter   Accumulated dust in the air filter will reduce engine   efficiency. Increase fuel consumption and allow abrasive   particles to pass into the engine. Remove the air filter as   often as necessary to maintain a clean condition.   • Remove filter cover (12) by   pressing in the sides and   lifting it off.   • Light surface dust can   readily be removed by   tapping the filter.   9. With the spring fitted onto the shaft of the spool holder   insert the spool back into the holder. As you insert   the spool, thread the lines through the eyelets and pull   firmly to disengage from the notch in the spool.   • Heavy deposits should   be washed out in suitable   detergent.   Note. When inserting the spool into the housing, the spool   may need to be rotated slightly so as to locate into the   housing. Before the spool is fully inserted into the housing,   ensure the lines are free of the notches.   • Squeeze out the remaining water an allow the filter   to completely dry.   • Add a drop of thin oil to the filter and replace it.   Fuel Filter   10. Once the spool is fully inserted and the lines are   fully through the eyelets, pull firmly on each line to   disengage the lines from the spool notches. Ensure the   lines are fully clear of the spool notches and the line is   passing through the eyelets directly to the spool.   • Fuel tank (7) is fitted with a filter.   • Filter is situated at the free end of fuel pipe and can be   picked out through fuel port with a piece of hooked wire   or the like.   11. To install the spool, line and housing, refer to ‘Fitting the   spool’ section of this manual.   • Check the fuel filter periodically. Do not allow dust to   enter the fuel tank. Clogged filter will cause difficulty when   starting engine or abnormalities in engine performance.   Note. On start up test the operation of the bump feed to   ensure the line feeds correctly.   • When the filter is dirty, replace the filter.   CAUTION. After changing the line spool, run the petrol line   trimmer under no load for at least a minute to make sure   that the line and the tool are both operating correctly. Use   only the line spool as recommended by the manufacturer.   • When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty, it can be cleaned   by rinsing the tank out with petrol.   WARNING. Never use steel threads and/or three teeth   blade other than those provided by the manufacturer.   Always use tools in perfect condition, free of damage.   WARNING. In high-speed rotation, parts could be projected   at very high speed and could involve serious injury and   damages to persons and property.   12   Download from Www.Somanuals.com.
