INTRODUCTION
Your Caller ID phone stores and displays specific information, provided by
your local telephone company, to subscribers of Caller ID or similar caller
identification services. You must subscribe to one of these services in
order to use this unit.
Your Caller ID phone enables you to:

Identify callers before you answer the phone.
View the time and date of each incoming call.
Record up to 40 Caller ID messages sequentially.
Know who called while you were away.
To get the most from your new phone, we suggest that you take a few
minutes right now to read through this user's guide.
REMINDER: This product requires a subscription to Caller ID service from
your telephone company. Check for name service availability.
IMPORTANT: Because cordless phones operate on electricity, you should
have at least one phone in your home that isn’t cordless, in case the power in
your home goes out.

MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS
You need an RJ11(CA11A) type modular jack, which is the most
common type of phone jack and might look like the one
pictured here. If you don’t have a modular jack, call your local phone
company to find out how to get one installed.
INSTALLATION NOTE: Some cordless telephones operate at frequencies
that may cause interference to nearby TVs and VCRs. To minimize or prevent
such interference, the base of the cordless telephone should not be placed
near or on top of a TV or VCR. If such interference continues, move the
cordless telephone farther away from the TV or VCR.
DIGITAL SECURITY SYSTEM
Your cordless phone uses a digital security system to provide protection against
false ringing, unauthorized access, and charges to your phone line.
When you place the handset in the base, the unit verifies its security code. After a
power outage or battery replacement, you should place the handset in the base
for about 20 seconds to reset the code.

1. Make sure wall mount bracket is securely fastened.
2. Set RINGER switch (on both the handset and the base) to ON.
3. Plug the power supply cord into the POWER 12V DC jack on the base
and into an AC outlet.
4. Place handset in the base to charge for 12 hours. The CHARGE/IN USE
light (on the base) comes on to indicate that the battery is charging. If

5. Plug the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the base and into
a modular jack.
6. Raise the base antenna.
NOTE : The phone automatically defaults to touch-tone dialing. To change to
pulse (rotary) dialing, see “Tone/Pulse Dialing”. If you don’t know which type
of service you have, check with the phone company.
CAUTION: Use only the Thomson 5-2470 power supply that is compatible
with this unit. Using other power supplies may damage the unit.

WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION
Because it is necessary to charge
the handset for 12 hours prior to
connecting the phone for use the
first time, it is better to leave the
unit on a flat surface during initial
charge before attempting to hang it
on the wall.

1. Make sure the wall mount
bracket is securely fastened.

5. Remove the wall mount bracket.
Rotate it so that the bottom of
the phone is flat. Reattach the
wall mount bracket by inserting
the tabs into the slots on the top
of the unit first, and then

snapping the bottom tabs into
place.
6. Plug the telephone line cord into
the jack marked TEL LINE on the
back of the unit and plug the
other end into a modular wall
jack. Then stuff the excess line
cord into the wall mount

bracket.
7. Slip the mounting holes over
the wall plate posts and slide
the unit down firmly into place.
(Wall plate not included.)

8. Remove the handset hook; turn
it upside down, and put it back
in the slot. You need to do this
so the handset doesn’t fall out
of the base.

No dial tone
• Check installation:
— Is the base power cord connected to a working
outlet?
— Is the telephone line cord connected to the base
unit and the wall jack?
• Disconnect the base from the wall jack and connect
another phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone
in the second phone, the problem might be your
wiring or local service.
• Is the handset out of range of the base?
• Make sure the battery is properly charged (12 hours).
• Is the battery pack installed correctly?
• Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK
button? Did the CHARGE/ IN USE indicator come on?
The battery may need to be charged.

• Make sure the TONE/PULSE setting is programmed
correctly.
Handset does not ring
• Make sure the RINGER switch on the handset is turned
to ON.
• You may have too many extension phones on your
line. Try unplugging some phones.
• See solutions for “No dial tone.”
You experience static,
noise, or fading in
and out
• Change channels.
• Is handset out of range? Move closer to the base.
• Does the base need to be relocated?
• Charge battery.
• Make sure base is not plugged into an outlet with
another household appliance.
Unit beeps
• Place handset in base for a maximum of 20 seconds to
reset the security code. If that doesn’t work, charge
battery for 12 hours.
• Clean charging contacts on handset and base with a
soft cloth, or an eraser.
• See solutions for “No dial tone.”
• Replace battery.
Memory Dialing
• Did you program the memory location keys correctly?
• Did you follow proper dialing sequence?
• Make sure the TONE/PULSE setting is programmed
correctly.
• Did you reprogram numbers into memory after power
outage or battery replacement?

TELEPHONE NETWORK INFORMATION
Should your equipment cause trouble on your line which may harm the
telephone network, the telephone company, where practicable, may notify
you that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. Where
prior notice is not practicable and the circumstances warrant such action,
the telephone company may temporarily discontinue service immediately.
The telephone company may make changes in its communications facili-
ties, equipment, operations or procedures where such action is required in
the operation of its business. If these changes are expected to affect the
use or performance of your telephone equipment, the telephone company
will likely give you adequate notice to allow you to maintain uninterrupted
service.
Notice must be given to the telephone company upon termination of your
telephone from your line.
REN NUMBER
On the bottom of this equipment is a label indicating, among other infor-
mation, the FCC Registration number and Ringer Equivalence Number
(REN) for the equipment. You must, upon request, provide this information
to your telephone company.
The REN is useful in determining the number of devices you may connect
to your telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when your
telephone number is called. In most (but not all) areas, the sum of the
RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be
certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line as deter-
mined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company.

PRISE MODULAIRE
Une prise modulaire RJ11 (CA11A), le type le plus courant
de prise téléphonique qui ressemble à celle ci-contre, est
requise. Si aucune prise modulaire n’est installée, en faire
installer une par la compagnie de téléphone.
NOTE SUR L’INSTALLATION : Certains téléphones sans cordon
fonctionnent à des fréquences pouvant nuire à la réception de téléviseurs et
magnétoscopes à proximité. Afin de réduire ou de prévenir une telle
interférence, la base du téléphone sans cordon ne doit pas être placée près
d’un téléviseur ou magnétoscope, ou sur un tel appareil. Si l’interférence
continue, éloignez davantage le téléphone sans cordon du téléviseur ou
magnétoscope.
SYSTÈME DE SÉCURITÉ NUMÉRIQUE
Votre téléphone sans cordon utilise un système de sécurité numérique
pour protéger contre les fausses sonneries, l’accès sans autorisation et les
frais portés à votre ligne téléphonique.
L’appareil vérifie son code de sécurité lorsque vous placez le combiné sur
la base. Après une panne de courant ou le remplacement de la pile, vous
devez placer le combiné sur la base pendant environ 20 secondes pour
rétablir le code.

2. Placez le sélecteur RINGER (du combiné et de la base) à ON.
3. Branchez le cordon d’alimentation dans la prise POWER 12 V DC de la
base et dans une prise de courant c.a.
4. Placez le combiné sur la base pour charger la pile pendant 12 heures.
Le voyant CHARGE/IN USE (de la base) s’allume pour indiquer que la
pile se charge. Si vous ne chargez pas la pile adéquatem ent (pendant
12 heures) à l’installation initiale, le rendem ent de la pile sera
com prom is.
5. Branchez le cordon téléphonique dans la prise TEL LINE de la base et
une prise modulaire.
6. Étendez l’antenne de la base.
REMARQUE : Le téléphone est programmé par défaut à la composition par
tonalité. Pour utiliser la composition par tonalité (cadran rotatif), voir
“ Composition par tonalité/impulsions ”. Si vous ne connaissez pas le type de
service auquel vous êtes abonné, vérifiez auprès de la compagnie de
téléphone.

COMPOSITION EN CHAÎNE À PARTIR DE LA MÉMOIRE
Utilisez cette fonction pour faire des appels qui exigent une séquence de
numéros, comme lorsque vous utilisez une carte d’appel pour un numéro
interurbain souvent appelé. Essentiellement, vous composez chaque
partie de la séquence à partir de la mémoire. L’exemple ci-dessous
indique comment utiliser la composition en chaîne pour faire un appel par

REMPLACEMENT DE LA PILE
Assurez-vous que le téléphone est désactivé
avant de remplacer la pile.
1. Retirez la porte du logement à pile.
2. Débranchez le cordon rattaché à la pile et
retirez celle-ci du combiné.
3. Insérez la nouvelle pile et branchez le
cordon dans la prise à l’intérieur du
combiné.
4. Remettez la porte du logement en place.
5. Remettez le combiné sur la base pour
charger la pile. Si vous ne chargez pas
adéquatement la pile du combiné (pendant 12
heures) à l’installation initiale du téléphone et/
ou quand vous installez une pile neuve, le
rendement à long terme de la pile sera réduit.

non commutée. Débranchez l’appareil de la fiche

• Êtes-vous abonné au service d’afficheur offert par
la compagnie de téléphone ? L’afficheur ne
fonctionne que si vous êtes abonné au service
d’afficheur de la compagnie de téléphone.
Message d’erreur d’afficheur • L’appareil affiche ce message s’il détecte autre
chose que l’information d’appelant valide durant le
silence qui suit la première sonnerie. Ce message
indique la présence de bruits sur la ligne ou qu’un
message invalide a été envoyé par la compagnie
de téléphone.

— Le cordon d’alimentation de la base est-il branché
dans une prise sous tension ?
— Le cordon téléphonique est-il branché dans la base et
la prise murale ?
• Débranchez la base de la prise murale et branchez un
autre téléphone dans la même prise. Si vous
n’obtenez pas de signal de manœuvre avec le second
téléphone, le problème se situe peut-être au niveau du
câblage ou du service local.
• Le combiné est-il hors de la portée de la base ?
• Assurez-vous que la pile est correctement chargée (12
heures).
• La pile est-elle correctement installée ?
• Le combiné a-t-il émis un bip quand vous avez appuyé
sur la touche TALK ? L’indicateur CHARGE/IN USE
s’est-il allumé ? Il faut peut-être charger la pile.

INFORMATION SUR LE RÉSEAU TÉLÉPHONIQUE
Si cet appareil provoque des dérangements sur la ligne et, par conséquent,
sur le réseau téléphonique, la compagnie de téléphone signalera, s’il y a
lieu, qu’elle doit temporairement interrompre le service. Si elle est dans
l’impossibilité de le faire et que les circonstances dictent une telle mesure,
la compagnie de téléphone peut immédiatement interrompre le service
pendant un certain temps.
La compagnie de téléphone peut apporter des changements à ses installa-
tions de télécommunications, à son équipement, à son exploitation ou à
ses politiques si la poursuite des affaires nécessite de tels changements. Si
l’on croit que ces changements influeront sur l’utilisation ou le rendement
du téléphone, la compagnie doit donner un préavis suffisant pour
permettre de maintenir le service.
Il faut aviser la compagnie de téléphone si l’on désire déconnecter son
téléphone de façon permanente.
FACTEUR D’ÉQUIVALENCE DE SONNERIE
L’étiquette sous l’appareil indique notamment le numéro d’enregistrement
FCC et le REN (facteur d’équivalence de sonnerie) de l’équipement. Vous
devez, sur demande, fournir cette information à la compagnie de
téléphone.
Le REN permet de déterminer le nombre d’appareils que vous pouvez
raccorder à votre ligne téléphonique et qui sonneront quand votre numéro
de téléphone est composé. Dans la plupart des régions (mais pas toutes),
la somme des REN de tous les appareils raccordés à une ligne ne doit pas
dépasser 5. Pour connaître le nombre d’appareils que vous pouvez
raccorder à votre ligne, compte tenu du REN, communiquez avec votre
compagnie de téléphone.

un défaut de fabrication pendant l'année suivant la date d’achat, il sera remplacé
sans frais. Les frais de transport de retour sont payés.
