This appliance is equipped with a power
cord having a grounding wire with a
grounding plug. The appliance must
be grounded using a 3-hole properly
grounded outlet. In the event of an
electrical short circuit, grounding reduces
the risk of electrical shock.
If the appliance is of the grounded type,
the extension cord should be a grounding
3-wire cord.
If the power outlet is a standard
2-prong wall outlet, it is your personal
responsibility and obligation to have it
replaced with a properly grounded
3-prong wall outlet.

Your Breville appliance comes with a unique
Assist™ Plug, conveniently designed with
a finger hole in the power plug for easy
and safe removal from the wall outlet. For
safety reasons it is recommended you plug
your Breville appliance directly into its
own electrical outlet on a dedicated circuit
separate from other appliances. If the electric
circuit is overloaded with other appliances,
your appliance may not function properly.
Use in conjunction with a power strip or
extension cord is not recommended.

SHORT CORd INSTRUCTIONS
Your Breville appliance is fitted with a short
power supply cord as a safety precaution to
prevent personal injury or property damage

children to use or be near this appliance
without close adult supervision. Longer
detachable power supply cords or extension
cords are not recommended but may be
used if care is exercised. If an extension cord
is used, (1) the marked electrical rating of
the cord set or extension cord should be at
least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance, (2) the cord should be arranged
so that it will not drape over the countertop
or tabletop where it can be pulled on by
children or tripped over unintentionally and
(3) the extension cord must include a 3-prong
grounding plug.

OPERATING yOUR BREvILLE SOfT TOP™ KETTLE
The kettle will automatically switch ‘Off’
BEfORE fIRST USE
once the water has boiled. Lift the kettle
from the power base and pour the water.
Take care to hold the kettle level, especially
when filled to the maximum level. To re-boil
it may be necessary to wait for a few seconds
to allow the control to reset.
OPERATING
Remove any promotional material attached
to your kettle. It is recommended that before
first use, the kettle is filled to the maximum
level with cold tap water then boiled.
Discard the water. Your kettle will only
operate when positioned on the power base
with the ‘On/Off’ switch in the ‘On’ position.
The kettle will automatically switch off once
the water has boiled.

If further heating of the kettle is not
required, unplug the power cord and empty
the water from the kettle. Replace the kettle
onto the power base and close the lid.
OPERATION Of yOUR KETTLE
SAfETy BOIL dRy PROTECTION
To fill the kettle, remove it from the power
base and open the lid by pressing the lid
release button. Fill with the desired amount
of water.
The kettle is fitted with a safety device which
protects against overheating should the kettle
be operated with insufficient water. If this
occurs, the kettle will stop heating. Allow
kettle to cool before refilling. Remove the
kettle from the power base and add water.
Return the kettle to the power base. The
safety device will then automatically reset.
For additional safety, your kettle is fitted
with an additional thermal cut out. In
the event of overheating, the kettle will
automatically shut down to prevent further
damage. Should this occur, contact Breville
Customer Service.
NOTE
Always fill the kettle between the
minimum (MIN) and maximum
(MAX) marks on the water window.
Too little water will result in the kettle
switching ‘Off’ before the water has
boiled. Filling above maximum (MAX)
mark may result in boiling water
splashing from the kettle.
Close the lid, ensuring it is locked firmly
into place. Position the kettle securely onto
the power base and insert the power plug
into a 110/120V power outlet.
Press the ‘On/Off’ switch to the ‘On’
position for water to boil.
WARNING
This appliance is designed for boiling
drinking quality water only. Never
use to heat or boil any other liquids
or foodstuffs. The lid should always
be firmly in place and locked into the
closed position before use.
NOTE
To operate correctly, the kettle should
always be used with the scale filter
firmly in place. See page 13.
WARNING
Do not press the lid release button
on the handle to open the lid during
operation. This may result in boiling
water splashing from the kettle. Pour
out all the hot water from the kettle
before opening the lid to refill.
NOTE
This kettle must only be used with
the power base supplied. Use caution
when pouring water from your kettle,
as boiling water will scald. Do not
pour the water too quickly.

Always unplug the appliance from the power
outlet before cleaning.
REMOvAL Of MINERAL dEPOSITS
CARE & CLEANING
Mineral deposits in tap water may cause
the kettle interior and water gauge to
discolor over time. This may be removed by
using a proprietary kettle descaler which is
available from most leading supermarkets,
department and hardware stores.
REMOvABLE fILTER
your Breville Soft Top™ Kettle
The Breville Soft Top™ Kettle features a
removable mesh filter to remove scale
deposits for cleaner water. To remove the
scale deposits from the filter, open the lid
and slide the filter up and out of the kettle.
The filter can be cleaned by running under
hot water and rubbing with a cleaning cloth
or brush. To replace filter, simply slide the
filter down into the slot behind the spout of
the kettle and push back into position.
Alternatively:
1. Fill the kettle until two-thirds full with 1
part vinegar and 2 parts water. Boil and
allow to stand overnight.
2. Empty the solution from the kettle. Fill
the kettle with clean water, bring to boil
and discard the water. Repeat and the
kettle will be ready for use.
NOTE
The filter could become damaged
with time. Please check regularly and
replace if found damaged.
WARNING
Never immerse the kettle base, switch
area, power base, power cord or power
plug in water, or allow moisture to
come into contact with these parts.
NOTE
The concealed element in the base of
the kettle is made from high quality
stainless steel. Any brown stains
appearing are the result of mineral
deposits and are not rust.
WARNING
Do not remove the diffuser ring located
on the base inside the kettle.
NOTE
To operate correctly, the kettle should
always be used with the scale filter
firmly in place.

of purchase that this Breville® appliance is
free of defects in material and workmanship.
This warranty does not cover damages to
the appliance or to any of its parts that are
caused by abuse, misuse, neglect, wear and
tear, including damages caused by using
the appliance in a manner not contemplated
by the instruction manual, including use on
current or voltage other than that marked
on the product, or by failing to follow safety,
operating, care or cleaning instructions or
alteration or repair not authorized by HWI
Breville®. Where applicable, this warranty
covers the repair and/or replacement of a
defective product at HWI Breville®’s option.
This warranty covers the repair and/or
replacement of products. HWI Breville®
expressly disclaims all responsibility for
consequential damages for incidental losses
caused by use of this appliance. Some states
or provinces do not allow this exclusion or
limitation for incidental or consequential
losses, so the foregoing disclaimer may not
apply to you.
The outside of the kettle may be wiped over
with a damp cloth and polished with a soft
dry cloth.
NOTE
Do not use chemicals, alkaline
cleaning agents, steel wool or abrasive
cleaners to clean the inside or outside
of the kettle. Use a mild cleaning
agent with a soft damp cloth.
Fitness and merchantability: any
warranty of merchantability or
fitness with respect to this product is
also limited to the one year limited
warranty period. The warranties set
forth herein are exclusive and not
other warranties, express or implied,
are made by HWI Breville® or are
authorized to be made with respect to
the product.
STORAGE
Ensure the kettle is switched off, clean and
dry before storing. Ensure the lid is closed
and locked securely into place. Wrap the
power cord around the cord storage under the
power base. Stand the kettle upright on the
power base. Do not store anything on top.
This warranty provides specified rights.
Consumers may also have other rights
which vary from state to state, or province
to province.
TERM Of WARRANTy:
If the appliance should become defective
within the warranty period, do not return the

La bouilloire s’éteindra automatiquement
une fois que l’eau aura bouilli. Soulevez-la
du socle motorisé et versez l’eau. Prenez
soin de tenir la bouilloire bien droite,
particulièrement si elle est remplie au
maximum. Pour faire bouillir l’eau à nouveau,
vous devrez peut-être attendre quelques
secondes pour que le contrôle se réinitialise.
Si vous n’avez plus besoin d’utiliser la
bouilloire, débranchez-la de la prise murale
et videz l’eau. Replacez la bouilloire sur le
socle motorisé et fermez le couvercle.
AvANT LA PREMIÈRE UTILISATON

Retirez et disposez de tout matériel
d’emballage et étiquettes promotionnelles.
Avant la première utilisation, nous vous
recommandons de remplir la bouilloire
au niveau maximum avec l’eau froide du
robinet, puis la faire bouillir. Jetez l’eau.
Votre bouilloire fonctionnera seulement si
elle est posée sur son socle motorisé, avec
l’interrupteur ‘On/Off’ en positon ‘On’. Elle
s’éteindra automatiquement une fois que

La bouilloire est équipée d’un dispositif de
sûreté qui la protège contre la surchauffe,
advenant qu’elle soit utilisée sans une
quantité d’eau suffisante. Laissez la bouilloire
refroidir avant de la remplir. Retirez-la du
socle motorisé et ajoutez l’eau. Remettez-la en
place sur le socle motorisé. Le dispositif de
sûreté se réinitialisera automatiquement.
Pour plus de sécurité, votre bouilloire
est munie d’un interrupteur thermique
additionnel. En cas de surchauffe, la
bouilloire s’éteindra automatiquement afin
de prévenir les dommages. Si cela se produit,
contactez le Service à la clientèle de Breville.
Pour remplir la bouilloire, retirez-la du socle
motorisé et ouvrez le couvercle en appuyant
sur le bouton de dégagement. Remplissez-la
de la quantité d’eau désirée.
NOTE
Remplissez toujours la bouilloire entre
les lignes minimum (MIN) et maximum
(MAX) indiquées sur la fenêtre. Une
quantité insuffisante entraînera l’arrêt
de la bouilloire avant que l’eau n’ait
bouilli. Une quantité d’eau excédant la
ligne maximum (MAX) fera éclabousser
l’eau hors de la bouilloire.
ATTENTION
Fermez le couvercle en vous assurant qu’il
est bien verrouillé en place. Déposez la
bouilloire bien en place sur le socle
motorisé et branchez-la dans une
prise de 110-120V.
Cet appareil est conçu pour faire bouillir
l’eau potable seulement. Ne l’utilisez
jamais pour faire bouillir ou réchauffer
d’autres liquides ou breuvages. Le
couvercle doit toujours être bien fermé et
verrouillé avant l’usage.
Enfoncez l’interrupteur ‘On/Off’ à la
position ‘On’ pour faire bouillir l’eau.
ATTENTION
NOTE
N’appuyez pas sur le bouton de
dégagement pour ouvrir le couvercle
lorsque la bouilloire est en marche.
Cela peut faire éclabousser l’eau
hors de la bouilloire. Videz toute
l’eau bouillante de la bouilloire avant
d’ouvrir le couvercle et la remplir.
La bouilloire doit être utilisée sur
son socle motorisé seulement. Soyez
prudent lorsque vous versez l’eau de
la bouilloire, car l’eau bouillante peut
vous échauder. Ne versez pas l’eau
trop rapidement.

Les dépôts minéraux provenant de l’eau
du robinet peuvent, à la longue, décolorer
l’intérieur et l’indicateur d’eau de la
bouilloire. Pour les éliminer, utilisez un
bon détartrant disponible dans la plupart
des supermarchés, des magasins à rayons
ou des quincailleries.

& NETTOyAGE
La bouilloire Soft TopMC de Breville est
munie d’un filtre à mèche amovible qui
retient les dépôts de tartre et procure une
eau plus propre. Pour dégager le filtre des
dépôts de tartre, ouvrez le couvercle et
soulevez le filtre en dehors de la bouilloire.
Pour nettoyer le filtre, rincez-le sous l’eau
chaude et frottez-le avec une brosse ou un
chiffon. Pour le remettre en place, faites-le
glisser dans la fente derrière le bec verseur
et appuyez jusqu’à ce qu’il soit bien en place.

1. Remplissez la bouilloire aux deux tiers
d’une solution composée d’une part de
vinaigre et de deux parts d’eau. Faites
bouillir et laissez reposer toute la nuit.
2. Videz la solution et remplissez la
bouilloire d’eau propre que vous ferez
bouillir puis jetterez. Répétez l’opération
et la bouilloire pourra être réutilisée.
NOTE
Le filtre peut s’endommager avec le
temps. Veuillez le vérifier régulièrement
et le remplacer, si nécessaire.
ATTENTION
N’immergez jamais la base de la
bouilloire, l’interrupteur, le socle
motorisé, le cordon d’alimentation ou
la fiche dans l’eau, et n’exposez pas ces
pièces à l’humidité.
NOTE
L’élément dissimulé au bas de la
bouilloire est fait d’acier inoxydable
de haute qualité. Les marques
brunâtres apparaissant ne sont pas
de la rouille, mais simplement des
dépôts minéraux.
ATTENTION
Ne retirez pas la bague du diffuseur
située sous la base à l’intérieur de
la bouilloire.
NOTE
Pour assurer le bon fonctionnement
de la bouilloire, utilisez-la toujours
avec le filtre à tartre bien en place.

RANGEMENT

bouilloire en position verticale sur le socle
motorisé. Ne mettez aucun objet sur le
dessus de la bouilloire.

Aptitude et qualité marchande: toute
