Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table  
or counter, touch hot surfaces or become knotted.  
This appliance is for household use only. Do not use  
this appliance for anything other than its intended  
use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats. Do not  
use outdoors.  
The appliance is not intended for use by young  
children or infirm persons unless they have been  
adequately supervised by a responsible person to  
ensure that they can use the appliance safely.  
Carefully read all instructions before operating and  
save for future reference.  
Do not use on metal surfaces, for example, a  
sink drain board.  
The installation of a residual current device  
(safety switch) is recommended to provide  
additional safety protection when using electrical  
appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with  
a rated residual operating current not exceeding  
30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying  
the appliance. See your electrician for

appliance to cool down for 10-15 minutes after  
extended continuous operation.  
It is recommended to regularly inspect the appliance.  
Do not use the appliance if power supply cord, plug  
or actual appliance becomes damaged in any way.  
Return the entire appliance to the nearest  
authorised Breville Service Centre for examination  
and/or repair.  
Do not place the Coffee and Spice Grinder on, or  
near a hot gas or electric burner, or where it could  
touch a heated oven.

the interior finger grips or the outside of the base.

Handy hints  
Care and cleaning  
For best coffee flavour, store coffee beans in an  
airtight container.  
The BarVista is not recommended for chopping  
garlic, parmesan cheese and nuts.  
Do not immerse motor base or cord in water or any  
other liquid. Do not fill the stainless steel grinding  
base with water or any other liquid.  
Storage  
Always switch off at the power outlet, remove the  
plug from outlet. Follow directions for cleaning and  
store in an upright position on a flat surface on your  
bench top or in an accessible cupboard.  
Grind coffee beans immediately before brewing.  
To grind dry seeds, dry spices or dry herbs, place one  
to four tablespoons of dry food in the removable  
bowl. Select desired fineness of grind and position  
the cup slider control according to the level indicated  
in the removable bowl i.e. 2 cups – 12 cups. If  
unsure of fineness of grind, start with the coarse  
setting, and repeat as necessary to achieve the  
desired fineness of grind. Press START button to start  
grinder. When desired ground size is reached, press  
START to stop grinder.

Grinding times will vary by amount and  
fineness setting.  
To ensure optimal grinding performance, allow your  
Coffee and Spice Grinder to cool for at least one  
minute between uses.

clockwise to unlock position, lift straight up.  
3. Remove the grinding bowl by turning counter-  
clockwise until it comes loose from the base.  
Lift removable bowl straight up out of base.  
Coffee flavour and strength is a personal  
preference. Vary the type of coffee beans, amount  
of coffee and fineness of grind to find the flavour  
you prefer.  
4. The removable bowl and lid can be washed in  
hot soapy water, rinsed and dry thoroughly.  
To grind amounts not on controls, select the next  
closest amount listed.  
5. Wipe base with a damp cloth. Wipe exterior of  
unit with slightly damp cloth. Polish with a soft,  
dry cloth. Do not use abrasives.  
The BarVista Coffee and Spice Grinder will not grind  
anything that is sticky or extremely hard ie.  
chocolate, whole nutmeg, candied fruits etc.  
6. Hold grinder and turn the base clockwise to  
rewind cord.  
The BarVista Coffee and Spice Grinder will not make  
pastes of any fruits, seeds, nuts or fresh or herbs  
ie. curry pastes, nut batters.
