sc rewdriver. Onc e the sc rews a re

sc rews tota l) using the phillips hea d  
sc rewdriver. This grill ha s a tendenc y to  
wa nt to “pop” off, so plea se be sure to  
hold it in pla c e with one ha nd or a rm  
while removing the sc rews with your  
free ha nd. In a ddition to the grill, the  
sc rews a lso hold the dec ora tive trim. The  
trim should be removed, too. Keep the  
twelve sc rews in a sa fe pla c e.

#0011806) where the old one wa s. Follow  
the sa me steps a s a bove, but ba c kwa rds  
4 to 1. Power up the S408 a nd the  
new woofer should now be pumping  
out glorious lows. Awesome, you just  
repla c ed a n 8woofer!

Remove the c a bles from their termina ls  
simply by pushing down on the termina l  
a nd pulling out the c a ble.  
If you nd it too difc ult to c onnec t the  
c a bles to the woofer termina ls due to  
the short length of the c a bles, there  
is a n ea sier (a lbeit lengthier) wa y to  
c onnec t them. Instea d of rec onnec ting  
the c a bles to their termina ls, just a tta c h

Four bolts a nd eight wa shers ma y be

removed from the driver using the 8mm  
c ombina tion wrenc h. Turn c ounter-  
c loc kwise to loosen a nd remove,  
c loc kwise to tighten. The other three  
a re loc a ted a round the horn a ssembly.  
Notic e tha t the a t wa sher is on the  
bottom, followed by the loc king wa sher,  
a nd na lly the bolt.  
The horn a ssembly should ea sily lift right  
off of the high frequenc y driver. Pla c e  
the new high frequenc y driver (pa rt  
#0008093) where the old one wa s. Follow  
the sa me steps a s a bove, but ba c kwa rds  
8 to 1. Power up the S408 a nd the new  
driver should now be pumping out those  
highs a ga in. Fa nta stic , you just repla c ed  
a high frequenc y driver!

Diaphragm replacement:  
At the present time (Ja nua ry 2007),  
dia phra gms a re not c urrently a va ila ble,  
so you will ha ve to repla c e the c omplete  
driver following the previous sec tion  
(pa ges 11-13). If you ha ve rec eived  
a dia phra gm, plea se follow the steps  
below.

horn will need to be removed in order to  
a c c ess the dia phra gm.

termina l (c onnec tion J4). This is for  
the input ja c k, a nd (2) the grey a nd  
bla c k c a ble a tta c hes to the positive  
termina l (c onnec tion J3). This is for the  
thru ja c k. Do not forc e c a ble remova l  
or c onnec tion, a lthough needle-nose  
pliers ma y a id in loosening the c rimped  
c a bles.
