detected,scanningissuspendeduntilallactivitystops.Scanningthenresumes
withthenextserverinsequence.
Cascadingexpansion
EachOutlookESswitchsupportsupto16directlyattachedservers,depending
onthemodel.Ifmorethan16areneeded,multipleunitscanbecascaded
togetherwithoneunitdesignatedastheprimaryswitchandadditionalunits

Rack mount safety considerations
• ElevatedAmbientTemperature:Ifinstalledinaclosedrackassembly,the
operationtemperatureoftherackenvironmentmaybegreaterthanroom
ambient.Usecarenottoexceedtheratedmaximumambienttemperature
oftheunit.
• ReducedAirFlow:Installationoftheequipmentinarackshouldbesuch
thattheamountofairflowrequiredforsafeoperationoftheequipmentis
notcompromised.
• MechanicalLoading:Mountingoftheequipmentintherackshouldbesuch
thatahazardousconditionisnotachievedduetounevenmechanicalloading.
• CircuitOverloading:Considerationshouldbegiventotheconnectionof
theequipmenttothesupplycircuitandtheeffectthatoverloadingof
circuitsmighthaveonovercurrentprotectionandsupplywiring.Consider
equipmentnameplateratingsformaximumcurrent.
• ReliableEarthing:Reliableearthingofrackmountedequipmentshould

3. Attachthesixracknut/holderstothemountingrailoftheracksothatthe
nutispositionedontheinsideoftherack.
4. Mounttheswitchassemblytotherackbymatchingtheholesinthe
“shortside”ofeachbrackettoanappropriatesetofmatchingholeson
yourequipmentrack,theninserting#10-32Phillipsscrewsthroughthe
slotsinthebracketandtheholesinthemountingrailandthenintothe
rack/nutholders.

storesmouseandkeyboardconnectionandratedataforeachserver.The
switchusesthisinformationtoinitializethekeyboardandmouseinterfacesof
theservers.Iftheserversareturnedonbeforetheswitch,theserversmay
exhibitabnormalorerraticbehavior.
