Dynamic Noise Suppression from Audience
Your phone is equipped with an advanced voice processing chip that delivers clear mobile calls by suppressing background noise,
intermittent sounds (like a siren or nearby conversation), and echoes, allowing you to hear and be heard nearly anywhere.
How Does It Work?
Based on the intelligence of the human hearing system, the technology:
•
•
Captures, evaluates and distinguishes all the sound signals surrounding your phone, and the person you're speaking with.
Then isolates the primary voice in conversation and filters out the background noise - so the person you're calling hears only your voice, without disturbing
background noise.
•
Dynamically equalizes and adjusts voice volume to optimize your calling experience, so you can hear clearly and don't need to speak louder to overcome
surrounding noise.
The noise suppression technology is built-in and already enabled in your new mobile phone. So it's ready to provide unsurpassed voice
clarity with every call.

Removing the Battery
1. Place your finger into the battery groove (1).
3. Plug the charger into a standard AC power outlet. The
device turns on with the screen locked and indicates both its
charge state and percent of charge.
2. Grip the battery at the top end (2) and lift it up and out of the
battery compartment (3).
Charging the Battery
Your phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery. A wall
charger, which is used for charging the battery, is included with
your phone. Use only approved batteries and chargers. Ask your
local Samsung dealer for further details. Before using your phone
for the first time, you must fully charge the battery. A discharged
battery recharges fully in approximately 4 hours.
Note: Verify that the battery is installed prior to connecting the wall charger. If
the wall charger is connected and the battery is not installed, the
handset will power cycle continuously and prevent proper operation.
Failure to unplug the wall charger before you remove the battery can
damage the phone.
Important!: Although the battery comes partially charged, it is recommended
that you fully charge the battery before its initial use.
Note: This illustration displays both the correct and incorrect orientation for
connecting the charger. If the charger is incorrectly connected, damage
to the accessory port will occur, voiding the phone’s warranty.
1. Slide open the Charger/Accessory jack cover (1).
2. Insert the USB cable into the device’s Charger/Accessory
jack.
6
4. When charging is finished, first unplug the charger’s power
plug from the AC wall outlet, then disconnect the charger’s
connector from the phone.

fields and other applications.
1. Rotate the phone 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
2. Slide the top section of the phone up to open, as shown in
the illustration. When you slide it open, the display rotates
from a vertical viewing mode (Portrait) to a horizontal
viewing mode (Landscape).
Important!: The touch screen responds best to a light touch from the pad of
your finger or a non-metallic stylus. Using excessive force or a
metallic object when pressing on the touch screen may damage
the tempered glass surface and void the warranty.
Low Battery Indicator
When the battery level is low and only a few minutes of talk time
remain, a warning tone sounds and the “Low battery” message
repeats at regular intervals on the display. In this condition, your
phone conserves its remaining battery power, by dimming the
backlight. When the battery level becomes too low, the phone
automatically turns off.
Note: Some applications which serve the purpose of showing battery life may
not display an accurate battery percentage.
Accessing the QWERTY Keyboard
Your phone has a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard
is located beneath the display screen and is accessed by sliding it
open. This orients the phone's display to Landscape (widescreen)
mode. With the QWERTY keyboard, you can easily type letters,

Joining Contact Information
Most people now maintain multiple email accounts, social
networking logins, and other similar account information. For
example, a Facebook account login name might differ from a
corporate email account login because they are maintained
separately and for different groups of people.
To link contact entries:
1. From the Home screen, tap
.
2. Tap a contact name (the name you want to link to another
entry).
This device can synchronize with multiple accounts (such as
Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Microsoft Exchange, or Google).
When you synchronize your phone with those accounts, each
account creates a separate contact entry in the Contacts list.
Note: Typically this is the same contact with a different name or account
information.
3. Press
and then tap Join contact.
If one of your contacts (Amy Smith) has a regular email account
that you maintain in Gmail, but also has a Facebook account
under her maiden and married name, when you merge those
accounts into your Contacts list you can join all of her entries and
view the information in one record.
4. Tap the second contact entry. The second contact is now
linked with the first and the account information is merged
into one screen.
Joining contact information makes sending messages easy. You
can select any account email address or information all from one
screen, versus searching multiple, individual screens to locate the
desired account information.
Note: The information is still maintained in both entries, but displays in one
record for easier viewing when you link the contacts.
Important!: The second contact image that is displayed for both, but the first
contact’s name is used.
Next time you synchronize your phone with your accounts, any
updates made to email account names, email addresses, etc.
automatically update in your contacts list.
For example: If Amy (original entry) is joined with Julie (second
entry), one entry appears under the name Amy. Tap the Amy entry
(showing the Julie image) to view information from both.

Marking a Contact as Default
When you use applications such as a voice dialer or other
messaging type applications, the application needs to know which
information is primary (default) in a contact entry list. For example,
when you say “Call John Smith”, if you have three phone records
for John Smith, the voice dialer is looking for the “default” number
or entry.

Bluetooth is a short-range communications technology that allows
you to connect wirelessly to a number of Bluetooth devices, such
as headsets and hands-free car kits, and Bluetooth-enabled
handhelds, computers, printers, and wireless devices. The
Bluetooth communication range is usually up to approximately 30
