SELF-POWERED BACK-UP
The self-powered back-up conveniently allows your alarm and clock time settings to be
stored for up to 1 minute when there is a power interruption e.g. AC power failure or
when changing batteries.
The complete clock radio and backlight illumination will be switched off. As soon as the
power supply returns the display will indicate the correct time.

BATTERY LOW MODE
SETTING THE CLOCK AND ALARM TIMES
The time is displayed using the 12-hour clock with PM indicator (PM off = AM).
1. Press SET TIME or SET ALARM 1 (or 2) to
enter the respective clock or alarm time setting
mode.
If you have inserted batteries, the battery low indicator lights up when:

battery power is low.
you intend to use AC power, but the AC adapter connection is loose.
During the battery low mode, both Radio/Sleep, backlight and sound will not function.
Operation of any set alarm (Radio/Buzzer/Cockcrow) automatically changes to a slow
buzzer beep frequency.

The clock time or the alarm time display
flashes and you will hear 'set time' or
'set alarm'.
•
If the SLEEP / RADIO ON or BRIGHTNESS CONTROL button is pressed, the battery
low indicator will flash for 5 seconds and then remains non-blinking.
2. Hold down or press HOUR or MINUTES
repeatedly to set and adjust the hours and min-
utes respectively. Release HOUR or MINUTES when you have reached the
correct setting.
3. After both the hours and minutes are set, press SET TIME or SET ALARM 1
(or 2) to confirm the setting.
GENERAL FEATURES
Reset
Should you receive external interference e.g. static electricity from carpets, thunder-
storms, etc. which affects the display and electronic functions of your set, RESET
allows you to clear all previous settings and start up again.

Time setting is also automatically confirmed 10 seconds after you set the time.
It is not possible to adjust the alarm time during an alarm call or the repeat
alarm mode.

Use a ballpoint pen to press RESET, found on the bottom of the set.
Demo mode
When the set is first connected to a power supply or has been reset, ‘PHILIPS’ will
scroll continuously across the demonstration display.

Press AL 2 button during the demo mode to listen to the cockcrow demo.
Press SET TIME or SLEEP / RADIO ON to exit the demo mode, to set the time
or switch on the Radio.

To improve reception:
For FM, extend and position the pigtail fully to obtain optimum reception.
For AM , the set is provided with a built-in aerial. Direct the aerial by adjusting the position
of your clock radio.
Note:
When the alarm or SLEEP function is active, the brightness cannot be adjusted.
REPEAT ALARM
This repeats your alarm call at 5 minute intervals.
SETTING THE ALARM
GENERAL
•
During the alarm call, press REPEAT ALARM / BRIGHTNESS CONTROL.
The alarm indicator flashes during repeat alarm.
Repeat if desired.
If you wish to use the alarm, first set the alarm time before selecting your choice
of two alarm modes, radio or buzzer/cockcrow. The alarm display is shown con-
stantly, and the alarm indicator appears if the alarm is set.

CANCELING THE ALARM COMPLETELY
•
To select the radio alarm, press AL 1 button once.
The ALARM 1 display and m appear and you will hear 'Alarm ON'.
•
During alarm activated or repeat alarm mode, press and hold the AL 1 or AL
button for more than 1 second. Alarm will be switched off
completely.
The selected alarm indicator and alarm time disappears and you will hear
'Alarm OFF'.

Make sure you have adjusted the volume loud enough to wake you up!
To select the buzzer or cockcrow alarm, press AL 2 button once or more.

about 30 minutes and the alarm indicator flashes.

About Sleep
™
This set has a built-in sleep timer, which enables the radio to be automatically
switched off after a set period of time. There are four sleep time options.
Note:
If alarm by Radio and Buzzer/Cockcrow are activated at the same time, Alarm by
Buzzer/Cockcrow will dominate.
Setting and switching off SLEEP
Press SLEEP / RADIO ON to switch on the radio. The display shows 'ON'

Within 1 second, press SLEEP / RADIO ON again once or more to select your
sleep time.
The display shows in sequence ON, and the sleep time options:
SL : 30, SL : 20, SL : 10 and OFF.
SWITCHING OFF THE ALARM
There are three ways of switching off the alarm. Unless you cancel the alarm
completely, the 24-hour ALARM RESET will be automatically selected after 30
minutes from the time your alarm first goes off.

To cancel sleep, press either:

Electrostatic discharge
Press the RESET hole on the bottom of the set with a ball-pen. Or disconnect
set from AC/DC adaptor and batteries for 5 minutes, then re-plug

If you do not intend to use set for a long time, remove the batteries.
Do not expose the set to humidity, rain, sand or excessive heat caused by
heating equipment or direct sunlight.
To clean your set, use a soft damp cloth or chamois leather. Do not use clean-
ing products, which contain benzene, thinner, etc. as these may harm the
housing.
Continuous crackling and hiss noise during AM reception
