legendary JBL® loudspeaker technology. The EQ7 not only delivers wireless music in rich, full sound and elegant  
style; it also serves as a speakerphone for phone calls—all at an extended range.

Charge your speaker system

You can power your speaker system using:

Turn it on & off  
See figure 3 on page 2  
To turn your speaker system on and off, press the Power button on the rear. The Power indicator light is steadily  
lit when the speaker system is on.  
Connect your speaker system  
Connect wirelessly  
To listen to your music via Bluetooth wireless connection, as well as make and receive handsfree calls, you need  
to pair (link) your speaker system with your Bluetooth phone and/or music device.  
1. Turn off any Bluetooth devices previously paired with your speaker system.  
2. Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your Bluetooth phone or music device.  
3. Turn on your speaker system.  
The Bluetooth indicator flashes to indicate your speaker system is in discoverable mode.  
4. Place phone or music device in Bluetooth search mode.  
The phone or music device searches for your speaker system.  
5. Select Motorola EQ7 from search results on your phone or music device and confirm pairing following the  
on-screen instructions.  
6. If prompted, enter 0000 passkey.  
When your speaker system successfully pairs and connects with your phone or music device, the Bluetooth  
indicator changes from flashing blue to steadily lit. Music playing from your connected music device source is  
heard on your speaker system.  
After successfully pairing your speaker system and Bluetooth device, you don’t need to repeat these steps. For  
each use, ensure that your speaker system is turned ON and that your device’s Bluetooth feature is ON.  
Some music devices will automatically attempt to play music when the EQ7 re-connects to it.

Connect wirelessly to 2 devices (multipoint connection)  
To connect to phone and music device at the same time:  
1. Pair and connect to your phone first (see section “Connect Wirelessly).  
2. Turn off your phone and your speaker system.  
3. Turn your speaker system back on. The Bluetooth indicator flashes to indicate the speaker system is in  
discoverable mode.  
4. Turn on your music device. Make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in the device.  
The music device searches for your speaker system.  
5. Complete steps 5 & 6 on section “Connect Wirelessly” to pair and connect your music device and speaker  
system successfully.  
6. Turn off your speaker system.  
7. Turn your phone back on and make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in both the phone and music  
device.  
8. Turn your speaker system back on. It should now connect to both devices.  
Connect with a cable  
To listen to your music using a wired connection, connect your music device to the Audio port on your speaker  
system using the included audio cable.

Control your tunes

Playback controls on your speaker system can be used when listening to wireless music streaming from a  
Bluetooth-enabled music device that also provides remote control capabilities (AVRCP).  
When remote control capabilities are not supported by your music device, the EQ7 simply acts as a speaker  
system, and music should be controlled from your music device.  
Short press—play/pause music

** You’ll hear a tone when maximum or minimum volume is reached on your speaker system.  
The volume setting on your music device may impact volume on your speaker system.  
Make and receive handsfree calls  
To make and receive calls using the speaker system, a Bluetooth handsfree (HFP) connection must be established  
with your phone. A handsfree connection with your phone is indicated when the Call button is steadily lit.  
Make a call  
Using the speaker system to make a call, you can redial the last dialed number or make a voice dial call (if your  
phone supports this feature). When making a voice dial call, the microphone on the speaker system is enabled,  
and you hear a prompt from your phone.  
Short press—make a voice dial call (you hear a prompt from your phone)  
Long press—redial last number  
Receive a call  
When there’s an incoming call, the Call button flashes on your speaker system, and you hear a ring tone over your  
speaker system. If wireless streaming music is playing when a call is received, it is paused until the call ends. If  
music is playing over a wired connection, it is muted when a call is received.  
Short press—answer call

When the call is muted, the Microphone Mute indicator light is on.

Additional tips  
Pairing  
UÊÊÊTo initiate pairing (discoverable) mode manually when your speaker system is already powered on, press and  
hold both Call and Play/Pause buttons at the same time.  
UÊÊÊTo clear paired devices list in your speaker system, press and hold both Reverse and Forward buttons at the  
same time until speaker system resets.  
Power saving using battery power  
When using batteries during Bluetooth connection, if your speaker system is inactive (i.e. detects no audio) for  
over 5 minutes, it will go into power saving mode and dim the music buttons.
