Do not set a hot carafe (15) on a cold surface.  
Do not use a cracked carafe (15) or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.  
Do not clean carafe (15) with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.  
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the bottom cover on the  
appliance. No user serviceable parts inside. Call our toll-free customer assistance  
number for repair.  
The carafe (15) is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a  
range top.

EXTENSION CORDS  
A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming  
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or  
extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer  
detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,  
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as  
great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and  
2) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or  
tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally  
(especially by children).  
POLARIZED PLUG  
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk  
of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If plug  
does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified  
electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

OPERATION  
Before first use  
Remove packaging materials, labels and stickers from the coffee maker.  
Clean the coffee maker thoroughly before using for the first time ( Cleaning).  
Note: To clear the coffee maker of any residue, fill to the maximum water level mark  
(1) on the side of the tank (4) with fresh water. Run a full brewing cycle. Repeat this  
procedure at least once.  
Using the coffee maker  
Use this coffee maker to brew coffee only.  
Remove the power cord (7) from the cord storage (6).  
Open the lid (2) and insert the water filter holder (23) with the charcaol filter (22)  
(
Inserting and replacing charcoal filter).  
Place the filter basket (19) in the coffee maker. Make sure the tab of the filter basket  
a
(19) fits in the opening of the coffee maker (ill.  
).  
Insert the permanent filter (20) or a number 2 cone paper filter into the filter basket

). Do not use the permanent filter with a paper filter as water will not flow  
through the paper filter and the filter basket (19) correctly.”  
Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter (20) (ill.

). For 5 cups of  
coffee add 4 to 5 measuring spoons (21) of coffee into the filter (20), according to  
your taste.  
Fill the carafe (15) with the desired amount of water.

Pour the water from the carafe (15) into the water tank (4) (ill.

level indicator (1) inside the water tank (4) (ill.  
Close the lid (2) and place the carafe (15) on the warming plate (8) (ill.  
). Do not overfill the coffee maker.

Insert the power plug (7) into a suitable 120V AC wall outlet (ill.

Setting time  
Press hr (13) to set hours.  
Press min (10) to set minutes.  
Note: The time setting will be deleted if you unplug the coffee maker from the outlet.  
Starting brewing manually

Press on/off key (14) once to start the manual brewing cycle (ill.  
). The on/off  
key will flash blue while the coffee is brewing. When all coffee has run through, the  
keep-warm function is activated. The on/off key now continuously lights blue.

OPERATION  
This coffee maker has a pause-and-pour function. When removing the carafe (15)  
the drip stop valve (18) will prevent coffee from leaking onto the warming plate (8)

Hot water continues to flow into the filter basket (19) and may overflow if the carafe  
(15) is not returned to the warming plate (8) within 30 seconds. Make sure the carafe  
(15) is fully seated on the warming plate (8) within 30 seconds when using the pause  
and pour function.  
Brewing process starts automatically. After brewing is finished, the warming plate  
(8) will keep the coffee heated for one hour.  
Press the on/off key (14) to turn the coffee maker off. Unplug the coffee maker from  
the wall outlet if the coffee maker is not going to be used for an extended period of  
time. The cord can be stored in the cord storage (6).  
Setting and activating the program function  
Set the brewing time so that fresh brewed coffee is ready when you want it.

OPERATION  
Note: Program setting is only possible when clock time is set.

Press prog (9) once (ill.  
) and operate hr (13) and min (10) buttons ( Setting time)  
to set the program start time.  
Press prog (9) again to save settings.  
Note: The program will be stored automatically if no button is operated for 5 seconds  
and the clock time will again be displayed.  
To change or view program settings press prog (9) again. The program start time  
appears on the LCD display (12) for 5 seconds. Press hr (13) and min (10) to modify  
the program ( Setting time).  
Press prog (9) to activate the program. prog button (9) lights up and the LCD display  
(12) shows program start time for 5 seconds. Brewing will start after the program  
start time is reached.  
Note: Program activation is only possible when the on/off key (14) is turned off.  
Note: When program function is running, the prog button (9) light will go out. You can  
deactivate the program before it starts by pressing prog (9) for 3 seconds. The prog (9)  
button flashes 5 times to indicate the deactivation.  
Note: The program function, if already set, will be deleted if you unplug the coffee maker  
from the outlet. The coffee maker will need to have the time and program modes reset.  
Automatic shut-off  
The coffee maker will shut off automatically after one hour of operation.  
The coffee maker will turn on the next day at the same time, if  
the appliance remains connected to the outlet, and if  
the program function is active. The prog button (9) is lit to indicate active status.  
Please make sure to refill the coffee maker with coffee and water for next use.  
Warning: The coffee maker is hot during operation. Handle hot coffee carefully.  
Warning: Always turn coffee maker off when not in use.

OPERATION  
Warning! Never switch on the coffee maker when there is no water inside the water  
tank (4). Dry operation of the coffee machine may damage the appliance.  
Warning! Burn hazard: To avoid accidental contact with hot steam and boiling water:  
Never open the lid (2) while brewing, and  
Wait a minimum of 5 minutes before opening the lid (2).  
CLEANING  
Proper maintenance will ensure years of service from your appliance. Clean the appliance  
after every use. This appliance contains no user serviceable parts and requires little  
maintenance. Leave servicing or repairs to qualified personnel.  
Warning: Unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely before cleaning.  
Caution: Do not immerse the coffee maker, or the power cord with plug (7) into water or

any liquids (ill.  
). Do not use abrasive pads or alcohol.  
Remove the carafe (15), the permanent filter (20) and the filter basket (19) from the  
coffee maker.  
Clean the housing (5) and warming plate (8) with a clean, damp cloth.  
Use baking soda or a mild cleaning agent to remove stains on the carafe (15). If  
stains are hard to remove, fill the carafe (15) with hot water and add 2 tablespoons  
of dishwasher detergent. Leave the carafe (15) with the water/detergent mixture  
overnight and clean afterwards.  
Make sure all parts are completely dry after washing and before use.  
After cleaning, reassemble the coffee maker.  
Caution: The carafe (15) is dishwasher-safe. Wash carafe (15), carafe lid (17), filter basket  
(19) and permanent filter (20) in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.  
Note: Do not dry the inside of the water tank (4) with a cloth, as lint may remain.

Assembly: Open the water filter holder (23) and insert the charcoal filter (22). Make  
sure to align the charcoal filter’s (22) flat bottom inside the water filter holder (23)
