Canon MVX250i User Manual

The stylish, big zoom digital video cameras with megapixel stills
for anyone wanting a little more from their video.
MAKE COMPOSITION AND VIEWING EVEN EASIER
Use the large 2.5" colour LCD screen to compose shots with ease. Alternatively use the
colour viewfinder to save power if the battery is low. Shooting can be further enhanced
when using the LCD screen by tilting the screen to allow for low or high angle shots.
Once you’ve finished shooting, the LCD screen is perfect for reviewing footage.
16:9
SHOOT WIDESCREEN
FOOTAGE
Record high-resolution
video in the 16:9 format for
playback on widescreen
TVs. Unlike systems which
simply record a vertically
stretched picture, the
MVX250i and MVX200i use
the full width of the CCD,
retaining image quality
and providing a larger
horizontal angle of view
at the wide end.
EASY AND FAST PHOTO PRINTING
These are the first digital video cameras to include a
Print/Share Button. Direct printing and file transferring
can be done easily by simply connecting to printer or
PC and pressing the button.
ENJOY THE FEATURES OF A DIGITAL STILL CAMERA
Take multiple shots with one press of a button. You can shoot at either five or three frames
per second in SXGA size or high speed continuous shooting. The MVX250i and MVX200i
also offer an Auto Exposure Bracketing function and let you select your autofocus points.
CAPTURE FOOTAGE DIRECTLY ONTO A MEMORY CARD
The MVX250i and MVX200i are both SD Memory Card and MultiMediaCard compatible.
This gives you the capacity to shoot movie clips in Motion JPEG at 320 x 240 pixels, or at
160 x 120 pixels and ultra high quality SXGA still images (1280 x 960 pixels).
KEEP ON RECORDING, EVEN WHEN THE LIGHT FADES
When in Night mode, these cameras automatically adjust exposure and sensitivity settings to bring more light
into poorly lit environments, as well as retain colour. In Super Night mode, light is automatically added to a dark
scene using a LED on the front of the camera (MVX250i only). In Night+ mode, this LED light can be turned
off and on manually (MVX250i only).
SHOOT WITH EASE IN ANY CONDITIONS
Each MVX200 series camera comes
with a range of pre-programmed auto
exposure modes designed to keep you
shooting in almost any conditions.
These modes include; Auto, Sports,
Portrait, Spotlight, Sand & Snow, Low
Light, Night, Night+ (MVX250i only)
and Super Night mode (MVX250i only).
ENJOY GREATER CONTROL
OVER CREATIVITY
The fully-automatic functionality of
the MVX200 series provides exceptional
ease-of-use for first time users.
For the more experienced users, manual
controls such as manual focus, exposure,
white balance and shutter speed controls
allow you to push creativity and enhance
results even further.
CREATE STUNNING PANORAMAS
Create dramatic panoramic images using Stitch Assist mode. Uses visual references in the
camera’s LCD to help you line up a series of shots that can later be stitched together using
the supplied PhotoStitch software.
GIVE YOUR MOVIES A CREATIVE EDGE
For a creative touch, a more appealing look, or greater
imaging variety, switch on one of 18 digital effects such as:
Negative Picture, Art, Black & White Picture, Sepia and Mosaic.
Black & White
Sepia
Mosaic
COMPLEMENT MOVIES WITH SUPERIOR SOUND
The MVX200 series offer two digital audio modes: 12 and 16-bit. 16-bit mode offers high-quality, CD-equivalent
stereo sound, while 12-bit records four channels ideal for adding background music later on.
ENJOY MORE ACCURATE COLOUR,
Video
IN BOTH VIDEO AND STILL CAMERAS
DV Tape
DiG!C DV makes it possible to achieve accurate colour for both
CCD
video and digital photos. Since video and photos have different
Still image
recording
colour requirements, DiG!C DV utilises two different colour techniques.
These maximise video quality on TV screens as well as still image

Card
quality for computer monitors and printing.
TRANSFER YOUR FOOTAGE
ONTO YOUR COMPUTER
An IEEE1394-compliant DV terminal
lets you connect the MVX250i and
MVX200i to a DV-compatible computer
or another Canon DV camera. Once
connected simply transfer your digital
movies to your computer, edit your
scenes and create your very own high
quality movies.
CONVERT ANALOGUE
INTO DIGITAL
Send an analogue video signal from
a TV, VCR or a DV camera into any
MVX250i or MVX200i camera and
you can record it onto a DV tape.
Alternatively, convert the analogue
signal into a digital signal, for direct
transfer to digital video devices or
computers equipped with a DV terminal.
TRANSFER IMAGES AND FOOTAGE FROM YOUR MEMORY CARD
Process and organise your images on your computer by transferring images from your SD Memory Card
to your computer using the USB cable and software provided.
VIDEOPRESENTER SOFTWARE
The included VideoPresenter software allows you to quickly and easily
create professional looking home movies using a DV equipped PC with
Windows® XP or Windows® 2000.
Easy-to-use VideoPresenter software
PRINT DIRECTLY FROM CAMERA TO PRINTER
Print directly from your digital video camera to
selected Canon Bubble Jet printers or any PictBridge
compatible printers, without connecting to a
computer. A single USB cable connects the printer
to the MVX250i or MVX200i and allows printing
options to be controlled from the DV camera’s menu.

PRINT MORE REALISTIC COLOUR
2 Select
The MVX250i and MVX200i support Exif Print (2.2).
This is a worldwide standard that enhances
communication between digital cameras
and printers, resulting in more realistic
colour reproduction.
USE YOUR CAMERA AS A WEBCAM
With the supplied Canon DV Messenger2
software you can use your Canon DV camera

Video chatting. All you need is Microsoft®
Windows® XP and a USB or IEEE1394 terminal.
