You have just purchased a portable-type room air conditioner w hich should be installed
according to your Ow ner’s Instructions.
Your Ow ner's Instructions contain much valuable information on using your air conditioner.
Please take the time to read them as they w ill help you take full advantage of the unit's features.
The booklet is organized as follow s:

Cooling Your Room
You must select the COOL mode if you w ish to adjust the:

Airing Your Room
If the atm osphere in your room is stale, you can air the room using
the Fan feature.
Turn the MASTER CONTROL, and set it to “ HI FAN ” or “ LOW FAN ”.

Adjusting the Air Flow Direction Vertically
The air flow direction blades can be adjusted to im prove the efficiency
of the air conditioner.
Hold the air flow direction adjusting blades,
and adjust them in the desired direction.

Note
N Effective control of air flow direction.
Adjust the blades to face upward for cooling.
N When cooling the unit with the air flow direction adjustable
blades facing downward for long period time,
dew may form on the surface of the air flow direction
adjusting blades, and water may drip from them.

Power Failure
Here are a few recommendations that you should follow w hen using
your air conditioner.
T
If a power failure occurs while the air conditioner is operating,
it is switched off. When the power returns, the air conditioner restarts.
Temperature and Humidity Range
The follow ing table indicates the temperature and humidity ranges
w ithin w hich the air conditioner can be used.
If the air conditioner is used at... Then...
Higher temperature
The automatic protection feature may be
triggered and the air conditioner stopped.
Lower temperature
A water leakage or some other malfunction
may happen if the heat exchanger freezes.

Cleaning Your Air Conditioner
Be sure to clean the air filter periodically to m aintain the air conditioner
in the best condition for a long period tim e.
When cleaning the air conditioner, be sure to stop
operation of the system , and pull out the pow er plug.
IMPORTANT
Hold the handle of the air filter and slide it up.

Remove the dust on the air filter using a vacuum cleaner and brush.

Insert the air filter into the original position.

Wipe the surface of the unit with neutral detergent
and then wipe it again with dry cloth.
(Be sure not to use benzene, solvent or other chemical products.)
Note
Storing the unit for a long period of time.
N Check the cleanliness of the air conditioner.
N Set the MASTER CONTROL to "LOW FAN", and dry the inside
of the air conditioner by operating it for 4 ~ 5 hours.
(The service life of the air conditioner is lengthened when
the dew formed on the heat exchanger before storage
is removed.)
N Stop operating the air conditioner, and pull out the power plug.

Solving Common Problems
Before contacting the after-sales service, perform the follow ing sim ple checks.
They m ay save you the tim e and the expense of an unnecessary call.

N Check for any power failure.
The air conditioner
does not operate at all.
NNNCheck the voltage.

NNNCheck the power plug for disconnection.
NNNCheck to see whether the MASTER CONTROL is placed in "OFF " position.
(Set it to the desired position.)
NNNCheck to see whether the room temperature is too low.
- Refer to page 8 for details about temperature condition.
N Set the THERMOSTAT control to the desired position.
The air comes out smoothly,
but cooling is not effective.
- When the number on the THERMOSTAT control is high,
the room temperature is controlled at a low level.
NNNCheck to see whether there is any open window or leakage of cool
air to the outside.
- Close the window, and fill the gap.
NNNCheck to see whether there is any obstacle adversely affecting
the flow of the air inside and outside the room.
- Remove the obstacle or change the position of the air conditioner.
NNNCheck to see whether the air filter is clogged with dust or
contaminated with foreign substances.
- Clean the air filter.
NNNCheck to see whether there is any direct sunlight facing
the air conditioner.
- Block the sunlight with sunshade.
NNNCheck to see whether there is any electric device generating heat.
- Do not use the air conditioner together with any heating device.

Remove the rubber cap inserted into the base.

1 Installation of the “L” bracket.
1-1 Measure the width of sill and find the center of it.
Measure 1"(25mm) on each side from the center line
and put a mark on these spots.

the 4 type “A” long wood screws on each side.

2 Attach the window filler panels to the unit.

Slide the window filler panels and their frames into the channels
on the top and bottom of the unit, and assemble them to the unit using
4 type “B” screws.

3 Attach the seal strip to the window.
3-1 Cut the adhesive-backed foam seal strip gasket to the window width.
3-2 Remove the backing from the seal strip and attach the strip to
the underside of the bottom window.
4 Install the unit in the window.
4-1 Lift unit into center of opened window.
Use hand grips on top sides of unit as an aid in lifting
and positioning unit.
4-2 Rest bottom of unit against outside edge of inner window sill.
Be sure bottom edge of unit fits down into “L” bracket (type “E”).

Extend the window filler panels.

5-1 Extend the window filler panels into the window sash tracks
on both sides. When the window is pulled down, the window should
rest on the unit just behind the window filler panel frames.
5-2 Slide the window filler panels outward until they touch the sides
of the window.
Secure the both sides of the window filler panels using
the 2 type “A” wood screws provided.
Install the 2 type “C ” window filler panel clamp to each side of lower
the window filler panel frame as shown in the figure by using
the 2 type “A” wood screws.
Install the 2 type “D ” window filler panel clamp to each side of upper
the window filler panel frame as shown in the figure by using
the 2 type “A” wood screws.

Install the window gasket.

Cut the foam window gasket to the window width and stuff it between the
window and the glass to prevent air and insects from getting into the room.

Limited Warranty to Original Purchaser
Samsung will repair or replace, at our option, this product if found defective within the warranty
period beginning from the original date of purchase. This Samsung Product is warranted by
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS America Inc. against manufacturing defects in materials or
workmanship for the period specified.

Limited 5-Years Compressor Warranty
Within one year of purchase Samsung Electronics America Inc. will provide a replacement
compressor if it is found to be defective in material or workmanship. During the existing four
years (second through fifth year) Samsung Electronics America Inc. will provide a replacement
only, without charge, if it is found to be defective in material or workmanship. Labor to install
the compressor during these existing four years is not included in the warranty. All warranty
repairs must be performed by a Samsung Authorized Service Station.
Obligation of the Original Owner
The original dated purchase receipt must be retained as proof of purchase and presented to
the Authorized Serivec Station before warranty services are rendered.
Exclusions of the Warranty
This warranty does not cover damage due to accident, fire, flood and/or other Acts of God:
misuse, incorrect line voltage, improper installation, improper or unauthorized repairs,
commercial use, or damages which occur in shipping. Exterior and interior finish and plastic
parts, are not covered under this warranty, Customer adjustments which are explained in the
instruction manual are not covered under the terms of this warranty. This warranty will
automatically be voided for any unit found with a missing or altered serial number.
This warranty is valid only on products purchased and used in America.
