left attached toa rotating partof the toolmay result inpersonal injury.  
5.Do notoverreach. Keep properfooting and balanceat all times. Proper footing and  
balance enables bettercontrol of thetool in unexpectedsituations.  
6.Use safetyequipment. Alwayswear ANSI-approvedsafety glasses underneatha full  
face shield, andhearing protection.  
ASSEMBLY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS  
To attach a quick connector  
WARNINGPrior to performingany assembly and/oradjustment procedures,  
make sure theair supply hose(not included) isdisconnected from theimpact  
wrench.  
1.Prior touse, the impactwrench requires theattachment of aquick-connector into itsair  
inlet. To do so, wrap approximately 3in. of pipe threadsealer tape (notincluded) around  
the male threadsof a quick-connector. Then, firmly tighten thequick-connector into the  
air inlet.  
USE AND CARE  
1.Use clampsor other practicalways to secureand support theworkpiece to astable  
platform. Holding thework by handis unstable andmay lead toloss of control. Only work  
on a workpiecethat is properlysecured.  
2.Do notforce or modifythe tool. Usethe correct toolfor your application. The correct tool  
will do thejob better andsafer at therate for whichit is designed.  
3.Do notuse the powertool if thetrigger does notturn it onor off. Any toolthat cannot be  
controlled with theTrigger isdangerous and mustbe replaced.  
4.Disconnect theair hose fromthe tool beforemaking any adjustments, changing  
accessories, or storingthe tool. Suchpreventive safety measuresreduce the riskof  
starting the toolaccidentally.  
5.Store idletools out ofreach of childrenand other untrainedpersons. Tools are  
dangerous in thehands of untrainedusers.  
6.Maintain toolswith care. Donot use adamaged tool. Tagdamaged tools "Donot use"  
until repaired.  
7.Check formisalignment or bindingof moving parts, breakages of parts, damaged air  
hose (not included), and any othercondition that mayaffect the tool's operation. If  
damaged, have thetool serviced beforeusing. Many accidentsare caused bypoorly  
maintained tools.  
8.Use onlyaccessories that arerecommended by themanufacturer for yourmodel.  
Accessories that maybe suitable forone tool maybecome hazardous whenused on  
another tool.

SPEED SELECTOR  
Four speeds canbe selected. Tochange speed pushin and rotatethe selector dialat the  
base of thehandle. Do notchange speeds whilsttool is inmotion.  
LOOSENING  
1.Attach thecorrect size socketto the anvil.  
2.Set thecompressor's pressure regulatorto 90 PSI. Do not setthe compressor's outlet  
regulator above 90PSI.  
3.Connect thetool to theair compressor's hose. If leakage isdetected, disconnect theair  
hose and fixit correct beforeuse.  
4.Place thesocket over thenut to loosen.  
5.Grip thetool firmly. Press theREVERSE valve infrom the areaabove the triggerso that  
the REVERSE valveprotrudes out theback of thehousing. Press thetrigger to startthe  
tool.  
SERVICE  
1.Tool service mustbe performed onlyby qualified repairpersonnel. Service or  
maintenance performed byunqualified personnel couldresult in arisk of injury.  
2.When servicinga tool, useonly identical replacementparts. Follow instructionsin the  
Inspection, Maintenance andCleaning section of thismanual. Use ofunauthorized  
parts or failureto follow maintenanceinstructions may createa risk ofinjury.  
(Caution: Make surethe nut orbolt can withstandthe impact wrench'sworking  
torque.)  
NOTE:  
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES  
1.To avoid accidentalinjury, always wearANSI-approved safety glasses, a full faceshield,  
and hearing protectionwhen operating thetool.  
2.Use clean, dry, regulated, compressed airat 90 PSI. Do not exceedthe recommended  
90 PSI. Neveruse oxygen, carbondioxide, combustible gases, or any otherbottled gas  
as a powersource for thistool.  
ØIf the toolcannot loosen thenut, DO NOTraise the outletpressure of theair  
compressor.  
ØWhen the nutis moved, stopthe tool byreleasing the triggerand remove thetool  
from the nut. Remove the nutfrom the socketif needed.  
3.When connectingto the airsupply: Prior toeach use, ifan automatic oileris not used,  
add two dropsof air tooloil (not included)into the airinlet fitting ofthe tool.  
4.Always disconnectthe tool fromits compressed airsupply source, andsqueeze the  
trigger to releaseall compressed airin the toolbefore performing anymaintenance or  
service.  
5.The warnings, precautions, and instructionsdiscussed in thismanual cannot coverall  
possible conditions andsituations that mayoccur. The operator mustunderstand that  
common sense andcaution are factorswhich cannot bebuilt into thisproduct, but must  
be supplied bythe operator.  
Tightening  
The working torqueof the impactwrench is 230ft.-lbs. Make surethat the nutor bolt you  
are using thetool to tightencan withstand therated torque.  
1.Tighten the nut asfar as youcan by hand.  
2.Place thesocket on thenut. Press theREVERSE valve forwardso it protrudesout the  
front of theHousing. Press thetrigger to startthe tool.  
NOTE:  
ØIf the toolstalls while tightening, DO NOT raise the outletpressure of theair compressor  
above 90 PSI.  
ØWhen the nuthas been tightened, remove the tooland socket. Donot over-tighten.  
ØIf available, checkthe recommended torquespecifications for thenut. You should usea  
torque wrench totorque the nutafter using theimpact wrench.
