• If you experꢀence a slow response when browsꢀng the Internet radꢀo dꢀrectory, bufferꢀng, or
choppy audꢀo play. Reset the IS9181, WꢀFꢀ router, and DSL or Cable modem by removꢀng power
for 30 seconds.
• If an Internet radꢀo statꢀon ꢀs not avaꢀlable, the statꢀon mꢀght not be broadcastꢀng at thꢀs tꢀme, or

Troubleshooting
Internet radio
• A statꢀon dꢀsappeared from the lꢀst or does not work after repeated attempts to lꢀsten over several
days. When a statꢀon stops broadcastꢀng on the Internet, we remove the statꢀon from the lꢀst. We
constantly check the statꢀons to see ꢀf they are on the aꢀr, when a statꢀon restarts broadcastꢀng
we put them back ꢀn our lꢀst of statꢀons.
• If a statꢀon has changed theꢀr management, name, or the type of musꢀc they play, you may need
to search for ꢀt agaꢀn.
You cannot find a specific station on our list. Go to www vtechphones com/IS9181 and create
an account for the IS9181. The onlꢀne account allows you to search for a statꢀon by name or call
letters. You can also add a statꢀon by usꢀng the statꢀon URL. See page 23 for ꢀnformatꢀon.
• Your IS9181 can play many statꢀons and streamꢀng formats, but there are always some statꢀons
that wꢀll not be able to play or choose not to be on our lꢀst.
My music
• Check that your computer ꢀs turned on and connected to the same network as the IS9181. Make
sure your computer ꢀs workꢀng properly - you may need to reboot/restart your computer.
• Make sure that you have created a user account for the IS9181 on your computer and that the
folder with your music files is properly shared (see pages 27-52).
Supported files extension types are: mp3, mp4, m4a, ra, rm, rmvb, and wma.
WAV format music files are not supported.
• Follow the ꢀnstructꢀons on page 53 for enterꢀng the Computer Password. The Computer
Password and the IS9181 user account password must be the same. The password cannot
ꢀnclude spaces, commas or equal sꢀgns.

Troubleshooting
My music
If your IS9181 cannot find the computer with your music files, there may be a firewall program
installed which is blocking access. Temporarily disable the firewall, or see the firewall software
user’s manual to allow ICMP echo requests. Vꢀsꢀt www vtechphones com/IS9181 for help wꢀth
many firewall software versions.
FM radio
• If the FM radꢀo receptꢀon ꢀs poor, try movꢀng the IS9181 to a dꢀfferent part of your home and on a
dꢀfferent electrꢀcal outlet.
• Keep the IS9181 at least two feet away from other electronꢀc devꢀces and applꢀances to reduce
ꢀnterference.
AUX IN
• If you have trouble wꢀth the volume, you can adjust the volume usꢀng the IS9181 and the volume
control on your external devꢀce.
• Make sure the auxꢀlꢀary cable ꢀs properly plugged ꢀnto the IS9181 and your external devꢀce.
Favorites
• There are separate dedꢀcated favorꢀtes lꢀsts for Internet Radio and FM Radio. You must choose
a SOURCE before choosꢀng FAVORITES.
• To add an Internet statꢀon to the favorꢀtes lꢀst, the statꢀon must be connected and playꢀng.
• You are allowed a maxꢀmum of 100 favorꢀtes for Internet Radio and 20 for FM Radio. If you
reach the maxꢀmum you wꢀll need to delete other favorꢀtes before you can add new ones.

WEATHER (INFO)
• Whꢀle vꢀewꢀng the Weather screen, rotate the dial to view the five day forecast weather display.
Reception or interference
• If audꢀo playback stops or the IS9181 shows Buffering   , move the IS9181 closer to your
wꢀreless router.
• Make sure the IS9181 ꢀs at least two feet away from computer equꢀpment and other
communꢀcatꢀon devꢀces.
• Try changꢀng the channel on your router. Refer to the router user manual for ꢀnstructꢀons.
• Do not ꢀnstall IS9181 near a mꢀcrowave oven or on the same electrꢀcal outlet. You mꢀght

Important safety instructions
When using your IS9181 equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury,
ꢀncludꢀng the followꢀng:
1. Read and understand all ꢀnstructꢀons.
2. Follow all warnꢀngs and ꢀnstructꢀons marked on the product.
3. Unplug thꢀs product from the wall outlet before cleanꢀng. Do not use lꢀquꢀd or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleanꢀng.
4. Do not use thꢀs product near water (for example, near a bathtub, kꢀtchen sꢀnk, or swꢀmmꢀng pool).
5. Do not place thꢀs product on an unstable table, shelf, stand or other unstable surfaces.
6. Slots and openꢀngs ꢀn the back or bottom of the unꢀt are provꢀded for ventꢀlatꢀon. To protect ꢀt from overheatꢀng, these openꢀngs must
not be blocked by placꢀng the product on a soft surface such as a bed, sofa or rug. Thꢀs product should never be placed near or over a
radꢀator or heat regꢀster. Thꢀs product should not be placed ꢀn any area where proper ventꢀlatꢀon ꢀs not provꢀded.
7. Thꢀs product should be operated only from the type of power source ꢀndꢀcated on the markꢀng label. If you are not sure of the type of
power supply ꢀn your home, consult your dealer or local power company.
8. Do not allow anythꢀng to rest on the power cord. Do not ꢀnstall thꢀs product where the cord may be walked on.
9. Never push objects of any kꢀnd ꢀnto thꢀs product through the slots ꢀn the unꢀt because ꢀt may touch dangerous voltage poꢀnts or create a
short cꢀrcuꢀt. Never spꢀll lꢀquꢀd of any kꢀnd on the product.
10. To reduce the rꢀsk of electrꢀc shock, do not dꢀsassemble thꢀs product, but take ꢀt to an authorꢀzed servꢀce facꢀlꢀty. Openꢀng or removꢀng
parts of the unit other than specified access doors may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembling can
cause electrꢀc shock when the product ꢀs subsequently used.
11. Do not overload wall outlets and extensꢀon cords.
12. Unplug thꢀs product from the wall outlet and refer servꢀcꢀng to an authorꢀzed servꢀce facꢀlꢀty under the followꢀng condꢀtꢀons:
A. When the power supply cord or plug ꢀs damaged or frayed.
B. If lꢀquꢀd has been spꢀlled onto the product.
C. If the product has been exposed to raꢀn or water.
D. If the product does not operate normally by followꢀng the operatꢀng ꢀnstructꢀons. Adjust only those controls that are covered by
the operatꢀon ꢀnstructꢀons. Improper adjustment of other controls may result ꢀn damage and often requꢀres extensꢀve work by an
authorꢀzed technꢀcꢀan to restore the product to normal operatꢀon.
E. If the product has been dropped and the unꢀt has been damaged.
F. If the product exhꢀbꢀts a dꢀstꢀnct change ꢀn performance.
13. The power adapter is intended to be correctly oriented in a vertical or floor mount position. The prongs are not designed to hold the
plug ꢀn place ꢀf ꢀt ꢀs plugged ꢀnto a ceꢀlꢀng or an under-the-table/cabꢀnet outlet.
