Before You Start
Unpacking Your Iron
Ironing Temperatures
Unpack the iron carefully. If you dispose of the packaging, do so having regard to
any recycling regulations in your area.
Check the ironing instructions attached to the article (they are on a label showing a
symbol of an iron). Always follow these ironing instructions. The indications on the
iron’s temperature dial and the table below will help you.
The packaging contains:
One Tricity Steam Iron
One filler cup
If there are no ironing instructions but you know the fabric, then use the table
below. The table is valid only for the actual materials and does not take account of
any finish applied to the fabric. Textiles to which a finish has been applied (wrinkle
relief, printed T shirts etc.) should be ironed at lower temperatures.
If any item is missing or damaged: please contact the Tesco store where you
purchased the item, or your nearest Tesco store. Please have your receipt ready
when you call.
If the fabric contains mixed fibres, select the lowest ironing temperature of the
composition, e.g. iron a 60% polyester /40% cotton mix at the temperature
indicated for polyester.
Important Special Features of Your Iron
Soleplate: The soleplate of the iron is coated. To protect the finish do not use abra-
sives to clean the iron and avoid running the iron over hard metal surfaces.
Do not iron
Synthetics. Set Iron to LOW ( • )
Wool, Silk. Set Iron to MEDIUM ( • • )
Cotton, Linen. Set Iron to HIGH ( • • • )
Anti-Scale System: A special resin filter inside the water reservoir softens the wa-
ter and prevents scale build-up in the plate. The resin filter is permanent and does
not need replacing.
Use tap water only. Distilled and/demineralised water makes the anti-calc system
ineffective by altering its characteristics. Do not use chemical additives, scented sub-
stances or decalcifiers. Failure to comply may invalidate the guarantee.
The iron heats up quicker than it cools down. Sort fabrics to be ironed into groups
according to temperature; wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. Start by ironing
articles requiring low temperature settings and progress to higher ones.
Anti-Drip System: Always iron delicate fabrics at low temperatures. At these low
temperatures the soleplate may cool to the point where no steam comes out, but
drops of boiling water can still escape which can leave marks or stains. If this occurs,
the Anti-drip system automatically activates to prevent vapourization, so that you
can iron the most delicate fabrics without risk of spoiling or staining them.
Note: Do not iron garments that are dirty or stained. The heat may set the stain.
Pure (100%) wool fabrics may be pressed with the iron set to a steam position and
the garment protected by a dry cloth.

Basic Operation
Filling the Iron
Select the correct temperature.
DO NOT use water containing softeners, perfumes or additives as these may
damage the iron irreparably.
INCREASE
Turn clockwise to increase
and anti clockwise to
reduce temperature.
Unplug the iron from the mains. Set the Steam Control to OFF.
Lift up the water filler cap. Be careful not to use excessive force or you may damage
the hinge.
Fill carefully with fresh
water using the supplied
filler cup.
The pilot light will turn‘OFF’when the indicated setting reaches the correct
temperature. The iron is now ready for use.
Do not fill the iron above
the MAX mark indicated
on the side of the iron.
During use the indicator will come on and off as the thermostat maintains the iron
at the correct temperature setting.
Note: Some parts have been lightly greased and the iron might smoke slightly when
Close the cap
switched on for the first time. After a short while, this will cease.
Before using your iron for the first time: Pass the iron over a clean cotton cloth to
remove any residue.
Steam Ironing
Operation
Steam Ironing should be carried out at the highest settings on the temperature dial.
The quantity of steam is regulated by the Steam Control.
Ensure the mains socket is switched off at the wall and the Steam Control is OFF.
Fill the iron with water as described above.
Move the steam control to a suitable position depending on the amount of steam
required and the ironing temperature.
Place the iron on its heel on the ironing board rest and connect the power cord to
the wall socket.
Warning: the iron gives off steam continuously only if you hold the iron horizontally.
You can stop the continuous steam by placing the iron in a vertical position or by
moving the steam selector to MIN.
Switch on the power. The pilot light will illuminate.

Advanced Operation
Shot of Steam Button
Warning: DO NOT allow anyone to come near you during this process.
This feature may be used during steam or
dry ironing but only when the iron is at
highest settings.
NEVER allow steam to get anywhere near your body or clothing or apply steam to
clothes or fabrics that are being worn by human or pets. DANGER OF SCALDING.
Hold the iron facing away from you at all times. DO NOT OVERREACH or operate the
iron while standing on a ladder etc.
Press the Shot of Steam button to release
a surge of steam. You may need to press
the button a few times to prime the
system. Wait a few seconds for the steam
to penetrate the fabric before pressing the
button again.
Spray Button
Press the spray button to spray water on
the material. It may be used for steam or
dry ironing.
Excessive use of this feature will cause
the iron to cool, and the pilot light will illuminate. If this happens, wait for the pilot
light to go out before using the feature again.
Note: To avoid staining, do not use the
spray on silk or synthetics, and be careful
when you iron delicate fabrics.
Vertical Shot of Steam
Note: For Spray and Shot of Steam
functions to operate, the water tank
must be at least one-quarter full.
Set the iron to its highest temperature
and wait for the pilot light to go out.
Set the iron vertical. Hold the iron away
from you and 15 – 30 centimetres from
the garment.
If these features stop working place the iron on its stand and fill the water tank.
During Ironing:
In between operations always stand the iron on its heel.
NEVER leave the iron face down.
Press the Shot of Steam Button once.
Steam penetrates into the garment
removing the wrinkles.
During use, the anti drip system may emit a loud clicking sound, particularly when
the iron heats upor cools down. This is normal and indicates that the system is
functioning correctly.
For stubborn wrinkles: set the iron
back on its stand and wait a few seconds. Repeat the procedure once more. Most
wrinkles can be removed within three presses.

Care, Cleaning and Storage
After you have finished ironing:
Self Cleaning
Set the steam control to minimum.
This operation removes scale and impurities from the iron. We recommend using it
every 10-15days.
Switch the iron off at the mains and unplug.
Stand the iron on its heel and let the iron cool down fully.
Fill the reservoir to the MAX level. Set the steam control to“O.
Set the temperature knob to the highest temperature.
Switch the iron on and and wait for the power light to turn off.
When the iron is cool:
Invert the iron, open the
filler and pour away the
excess water from the
tank.
When pouring away the
water, gently shake the
iron to remove any loose
particles from the tank.
Unplug the iron from the mains.
Hold the iron horizontally over the sink.
Press and hold the Self Clean button.
Steam and boiling water will drain from
the holes on the soleplate washing away
any deposits that have built up. Gently
move the iron back and forth until the
water tank is empty.
Care and Cleaning
Unplug the iron from the mains and allow it to cool down fully.
When Self-Cleaning is complete, release the Self-Clean button. Rest your iron on its
heel rest and allow to fully cool down. Wipe the soleplate with a cold damp cloth.
and store it safely.
Cleaning: To remove starch or other deposits from the soleplate, apply a small
amount of mild cleaner to a damp cloth, forming a paste on the cloth. Gently rub
the soleplate, then wipe with a moist cloth.
The body of the iron may now be cleaned with a barely damp cloth and then dried
thoroughly. Do not wet the appliance body, cord or mains plug.
CAUTION: Never use scouring pads, abrasives or harsh cleaners on the iron body or
the soleplate.
